Choose your deal in 4 steps
1. Pick a speed
Match the speed to how many people regularly use the internet at once in your home.
Get help: What speed do I need?
2. Check the total cost
Look at the monthly cost, but also bear in mind the Effective Monthly Cost (calculations are in Offer details). This takes into account rewards, set-up fees and price rises.
3. Choose a contract length
Many broadband packages come with a fixed 24-month contract, but more flexible options are also available. Fixed prices mean no annual price rises.
4. Switch
Switching between most home broadband providers is handled by your new provider, so you don’t need to cancel your old one. You can often switch in around 2 weeks.

What speed do you need?
| Your household | Average speed | Broadband type |
|---|---|---|
| 1 to 2 people, browsing, HD streaming and video calling | Up to 80Mb | Superfast fibre or entry-level full fibre |
| 3 to 4 people, streaming on several screens, working from home | 80Mb to 300Mb | Full fibre, Virgin Media cable broadband or 5G Home Broadband |
| 5+ people, 4K streaming, gaming, large downloads | 300Mb+ | Full fibre. You’ll be able to upgrade if you find your connection is still struggling. |
|
Genie Tip The cheapest deal won’t always be the best one for you. If you live in a busier household, paying a few pounds more for a faster speed can make life easier. Make use of reward deals to get the total cost down. |

How we pick and order deals
How we sort our tables
By default, we sort by popularity with our customers. The table options will change depending on your entered postcode. You can sort by factors like cost, speed, or contract length at any time.
How we make our money
We usually get paid when you buy through us, but it never changes the price you pay. Occasionally, we will have paid placements and these are labelled as ‘sponsored deals’.
Find out more about our funding.
How we work out effective monthly costs
These are calculated by combining the monthly fees, including set-up fees and price rises. We then take off any reward totals and divide by the number of months in the contract.
Broadband deals: FAQs
-
Why do I need to enter my address to see broadband deals?
Every property in the UK has access to different broadband services. Some deals are also priced differently depending on the network they’re supplied on. An address check is essential to checking accurate availability.
-
What happens when my broadband deal ends?
Your broadband service will continue until you cancel or switch, but the price is likely to rise.
Many broadband packages come with annual price rises, but out of contract prices are also usually higher.
Keep a note of your contract end date and switch regularly to keep the costs down.
-
Are online exclusive deals really cheaper?
Often, yes. Exclusive deals usually add a reward, like a gift card or bill credit, that existing customers don’t get. That lowers the effective monthly cost. If you’re staying put, you can still try haggling with your current provider.
-
Why do prices rise every April?
Providers claim price rises help them combat inflation and maintain networks.
Not every provider applies annual price rises, but sadly, it’s commonplace. At Broadband Genie, we’re very vocal in showing our disapproval to this practice. Join our Stop Broadband Price Rises Campaign. Switching broadband is the best way to reset accumulated price rises, and fixed price broadband deals are also worth considering.
-
When is the best time to switch?
We recommend reviewing your options around a month before your contract is due to end.
-
Can I switch before my contract ends?
You can switch at any time, but if you leave a contract early you’ll be charged an early termination fee.
Some providers are covering the cost of early exit fees with switching credits if you want to jump ship a little earlier. This is a brilliant way to stay savvy with your spending. You’ll have to pay the fee and then claim it back.
-
Is a Wi-Fi deal the same as a broadband deal?
Yes. When people search for Wi-Fi deals, they usually mean broadband.
Broadband is the internet connection to your home. Wi-Fi is the wireless signal your router sends around your home so you can connect devices.
Most deals on Broadband Genie come with a free Wi-Fi router as standard. If not, we’ll declare it in the set-up fee or offer details.
