Why choose Vodafone broadband?
Vodafone is best known as one of the UK’s major mobile network operators, but in recent years it's branched out into home broadband and now offers cheap fibre optic internet.
Vodafone's standard broadband deals are fairly streamlined, so you don’t get to choose from a large range of packages and optional extras. But it can work out very cheap, so might be near the top of your list if the cost is a priority.
If you're looking to get more from your broadband deal, the Vodafone Pro packages provide some useful additional features in return for a higher monthly fee.

Vodafone internet plans and speeds
Vodafone offers various broadband speeds throughout its range. This includes a very fast FTTP broadband option for those of you lucky enough to have full fibre access in your area.
Vodafone Fibre 1
- Download speed: 38Mb
- Upload speed: 9Mb
The entry-level Vodafone broadband package provides a download speed of 38Mb and an upload speed of 9Mb.
This is enough for small homes. But if you have more than a couple of people sharing and everyone is using broadband for activities like streaming, it may struggle.
Vodafone Fibre 2
- Download speed: 67Mb
- Upload speed: 18Mb
With an average download speed of 67Mb and an upload speed of 18Mb. This is the fastest standard fibre service Vodafone offers.
This is a good option for larger homes, and it’s often available for the same price as Fibre 1. So it's worth going for, even if you don’t think you need the extra speed.
Vodafone Pro II Fibre 1
- Download speed: 38Mb
- Upload speed: 10Mb
This upgrade to Pro Fibre 1 comes with additional features, including a free 4G back-up connection. This does come at a cost, though.
Vodafone Pro II Fibre 2
- Download speed: 67Mb
- Upload speed: 18Mb
This is the same as Fibre 2, but with extra Pro features for an increased fee.
Vodafone Full Fibre 74
- Download speed: 74Mb
Vodafone Full Fibre 80
- Download speed: 80Mb
Vodafone’s entry level full fibre packages come in two different speeds. This will depend on whether your home is connected to an Openreach or CityFibre network.
Vodafone Full Fibre 150
- Download speed: 150Mb
Vodafone Full Fibre 500
- Download speed: 500Mb
- Upload speed: 200Mb or 500Mb
If your FTTP connection is CityFibre, your line is symmetrical. That means the download and upload speeds are the same — 200Mb or 500Mb.
These upload rates are a lot better than many competing providers and will be particularly useful for gamers, streamers, and remote workers.
However, if you have Openreach FTTP, your maximum upload speed will be lower.
Vodafone Full Fibre 910
- Download speed: 910Mb
- Upload speed: 105Mb or 910Mb
The fastest Vodafone fibre optic service offers a rapid average download speed of 910Mb.
With CityFibre connections, it also has an incredible 910Mb upload speed. Openreach FTTP customers will receive around 115Mb.
Vodafone Pro II Full Fibre 1.6, Pro II Full Fibre 1.8 and Pro II Full Fibre 2.2
Vodafone also offers several pro package with additional features. Vodafone Pro II Full Fibre 1.6 is available on the Openreach network. Meanwhile, Vodafone Pro II Full Fibre 1.8 and Full Fibre 2.2 packages are only available if you have access to the CityFibre network.
- Faster speeds, where available.
- Automatic 4G backup connection
- Wi-Fi coverage guarantee
- Secure Net Home protection with parental controls
- Dedicated Wi-Fi expert help
The Genie says...
If you switch to Vodafone Full Fibre 910, you can get up to £100 in credit to cover any early termination fees.

How well does Vodafone perform when it comes to speeds?
Vodafone customers seem fairly happy with the broadband they’re getting. The respondents of our 2024 survey gave it an average satisfaction score of 69%.
The advertised speeds of its standard services aren’t surprising. For these, it uses the Openreach network like almost all other providers. So averages will be similar to fibre services available elsewhere. But Vodafone also utilises CityFibre networks too. If you’re on a Vodafone service through a CityFibre link, you’ll likely get slightly faster speeds.
The upload speeds on Openreach FTTP aren’t shabby, and are still better than even Virgin Media’s offerings. But even those are dwarfed by the symmetrical upload/download speeds available with a CityFibre link.
Can I get Vodafone full fibre broadband?
We can almost guarantee you can sign up to Vodafone Fibre 1 or Vodafone Fibre 2. However, whether you have access to one of Vodafone’s full fibre (FTTP) packages will depend - you’ll need to have had an Openreach or CityFibre network upgrade.
If you don’t get presented with any Vodafone full fibre deals when you enter your address in our deals checker, but you’re keen to sign up as soon as you can, we recommend using the Openreach fibre checker. Once you get your results, fill in the ‘Keep me updated’ option to receive announcements on new full fibre developments in your immediate area.
Does Vodafone offer a social tariff?
If you’re currently receiving the following UK benefits:
- Disability Allowance
- Employment and Support Allowance
- Jobseekers' Allowance
- Personal Independence Payment (PIP)
- Universal Credit
You will be eligible to sign up to Vodafone’s social tariff - Vodafone Fibre Essentials for a total of 12 months. This is priced at £20 per month and offers download speeds up to 75Mb.
For more information, head to our guide on broadband social tariffs.
Does Vodafone offer good value for money?
Vodafone ranked lower than average for value for money in our 2024 Broadband Awards.
Having said that, Vodafone is still one of the cheapest fibre broadband providers, with its entry-level fibre deals costing less than some ADSL deals.
Moving to a Pro II package does raise the monthly price, but you’ll get some useful extras in exchange.
The most expensive option is the 910Mb Vodafone Full Fibre, but even this compares well to other offerings from competing networks.
Inclusive calls aren’t part of most Vodafone deals. Line rental, when applicable, is part of the monthly price. If required, you can add evening and weekend calls, anytime calls, or an international package.
Will Vodafone broadband add price rises this year?
From 1st April 2025, monthly plans are set to increase by £3 per year during customer's minimum periods. Out of bundle charges will still be based on the Consumer Price Index published in January of that year + 3.9%.
Vodafone rewards
Vodafone broadband deals are often available with a free gift. This is typically an Amazon, M&S or Sainsbury's gift card with a value of £50-£100. A decent extra, for sure.
Vodafone is already cheap, so these freebies add up to a substantial bonus. With a free gift included, Vodafone Fibre 1 and 2 can sometimes have an effective monthly price of less than £20.
For general help with rewards, visit our guide to claiming free gifts and vouchers.
How reliable is Vodafone home broadband?
In our 2024 Broadband Awards, Vodafone matched the average score for reliability, with a 75% satisfaction rate.
You certainly can't quibble with the 4G broadband back-up available for Vodafone Pro II customers. This automatically connects to a mobile broadband network if your cabled connection experiences a fault. Of course, you have to pay a premium for this, and you'd need to be confident you have a strong 4G signal to experience a truly reliable service.
Vodafone broadband and phone deals
Does Vodafone offer home phone packages?
A landline is required for Vodafone internet, and line rental is included with all Vodafone broadband deals.
You don't get inclusive calls with standard Vodafone broadband packages, instead, you simply pay for what you use. If you use your home phone regularly or call abroad often, you’ll get the best value out of one of Vodafone’s inclusive calling plans.
Vodafone home phone packages include options for evening and weekend calls, anytime and mobile calls, and international calling.
Vodafone broadband and mobile deals
Although Vodafone doesn't specifically offer broadband and mobile bundles, Vodafone Mobile customers can get a discount of up to £4 per month if they sign up to a Vodafone Pro II Fibre deal, or £2 per month for any other.
Does Vodafone offer broadband and TV bundles?
Vodafone does offer some broadband and TV bundles, which include a free Apple TV 4K box and a 24-month subscription to Apple TV+. To get this, you'll need to sign up for either Vodafone Pro II Xtra or Vodafone Xtra.
Apple TV is a streaming box, so while you can’t use it for Freeview broadcasts, you can access a huge range of on-demand content. As well as Apple’s own TV+ service, the box also supports Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Disney+, to name just a few.
Vodafone Broadband extras and free gifts
Vodafone Broadband doesn’t include lots of extras, besides the usual free Wi-Fi router and Vodafone’s handy app. But its deals are often available with shopping vouchers and other free gifts.
How good is the Vodafone broadband router?
Most Vodafone broadband packages include a free Power Hub Wi-Fi Hub router. Meanwhile, a UltraHub is supplied to Pro II customers.
If you're not sure what this all means, have a read of our guide to Wi-Fi for an introduction.
We have more information on this in our Vodafone router round-up.
Vodafone Broadband app
The Vodafone Broadband app is a free tool for managing your home broadband network. Among other things, it lets you easily share the connection with a QR code, set up schedules for Wi-Fi access, create a guest network for visitors, and monitor connected devices.
These are all things you can do via the router’s administrator control panel, but the app provides a more user-friendly interface than most routers and makes it simple for novices to improve the security of their home network.

Which Vodafone package should I choose?
With only two standard fibre packages to choose from, both with truly unlimited usage, the same contract length and the same high-end router, you can safely make your decision based on speed and price.
The Fibre 1 deal is the entry-level fibre offer. With average speeds of 38Mb it's on a par with similar services from rival providers, although is priced very competitively. As far as the speed goes, it should be enough for most average households. It'll be able to handle Netflix and iPlayer streaming on a few devices together, as well as gaming and downloading.
Fibre 2 is the high-end service for more demanding households. With an average speed of 67Mb it will be able to handle as much streaming, downloading and gaming as you need. There isn't a huge price difference between the two, so you may feel it's worth paying the extra for the peace of mind offered by a faster service.
Vodafone no longer have a slower standard broadband service that runs wholly over your phone line. So if you only have basic requirements and would be happy paying for a barebones service, you'll need to find a different provider.
If you're in a Gigafast area, then you need to ask yourself if you really need those speeds. Going with this option would future-proof you for a while without spending much more. However, the average home user isn't going to see any real life benefit to the higher speeds right now, so you may be better off saving a few pennies and opting for 100Mb or less.
Points to consider before you choose
- How many people will be using your broadband connection, and will they be using it for streaming or downloading?
- Are you unhappy with paying full price for low fibre speeds at your current provider?
- Is being tied into a longer contract a problem for you?
- Are you looking for standard broadband instead?
- Are you a Vodafone mobile customer?
What are the benefits of Vodafone Broadband?
What are the main reasons why you should consider buying a broadband package from Vodafone?
Competitively priced - Vodafone's fibre broadband packages are priced very favourably against the other big name providers
High-end router
Smart parental controls - the Family Time feature, available through the app, enables you to tailor broadband access for each member of your household, including how much time they can spend online and what they can see
What are the drawbacks of Vodafone Broadband?
Nothing's perfect. What potential downsides to Vodafone Broadband should you be aware before you sign up?
Long contracts - all of the Vodafone packages require an 24-month contract
Few extras - the router's impressive, but you don't get much else for your money
No standard broadband options - if you don't live in a fibre-to-the-cabinet enabled area, or you don't need fibre speeds, then Vodafone will no longer offer you a slower standard phone line broadband product
Phone support not available overnight - Unlike Vodafone's contract mobile phone support, broadband customers can only access telephone tech support between the hours of 8am and 8pm
Annual CPI increase - prices for broadband (and any other addons, such as line, call plans and call charges) increase by the Consumer Price Index in April of each year plus a percentage, and then each April onwards
How to switch to Vodafone broadband
Click on the 'Get deal' button to complete the checkout for your chosen Vodafone deal. You will need to let Vodafone which provider you're currently signed up with.
Thanks to the One-Touch Switch process, there should be no need to let your current provider know you're switching - Vodafone will do this for you (although if you have a separate landline provider, you will need to communicate separately).
You will be able to pick a convenient installation date, and your new Wi-Fi router and any other important equipment will arrive three days before your confirmation date.
The good news is, there shouldn't be any disruption to your internet during your switch. Your internet connection with your current provider will only be switched off when Vodafone installs your new connection.
Expert Summary: is Vodafone broadband good?
Vodafone's broadband portfolio is smaller than some, but if you're looking for a basic package without paying for extras you don't need, it's a good option. Most homes across the UK will be able to access its Fibre 1 or Fibre 2 packages.
However, if you're interested in the full fibre options, you'll need to check the availability before signing up as many homes still don't have access to a full fibre network yet.
