About Gigaclear broadband

Gigaclear is an alternative provider (altnet) that runs its own full fibre network (FTTP).

Availability for its broadband service is limited, with Gigaclear mostly focussing on delivering its services to rural areas.

With a Gigaclear deal, you can get ultrafast broadband at speeds up to an average of 900Mb. That’s fast enough to cope with even the busiest of households.

Best of all, this doesn’t come at a high cost, with prices starting from less than £20 a month.

Gigaclear Broadband Deals

Gigaclear currently offers three different full fibre (FTTP) broadband speeds:

  • Gigaclear Superfast 300: average 300Mb upload and download speeds
  • Gigaclear Ultrafast 500: average 500Mb upload and download speeds
  • Gigaclear Hyperfast 900: average 900Mb upload and download speeds

Ultrafast 500 and Hyperfast 900 come complete with a Smart Wi-Fi system (Wi-Fi mesh nodes) for improved signal around the home.

There's often a £30 set-up cost for Gigaclear new customers. However, unlike most other broadband providers, deals come with a shorter 18-month contract.

Gigaclear broadband packages are symmetrical in speed. This means it has matching download and upload speeds. Most popular broadband services are asymmetrical, with upload speeds that are much slower than the download rate.

  • What’s FTTP?

Full Fibre broadband is also known as ‘Fibre To The Premises’, ‘Fibre To The Home’. This is often shortened to FTTP or FTTH. They’re all the same thing!

Instead of copper telephone wire making up the final part of the journey from that green cabinet on the street, fibre optic cables are installed right up to your home.

It’s amazing the difference in speed this small data journey can have. With full-fibre broadband, you can expect to receive speeds of 1Gb+.

The downside is full-fibre is only available to a small percentage of homes in the UK, and it’s taking a good while to get everyone up to speed.

Broadband and home phone bundles

During checkout, you can also tailor your broadband package to include a digital home phone service. These come with a flexible, rolling monthly contract.

Gigaclear’s phone packages are a Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) service and won’t use a traditional phone line.

Switching to Gigaclear

Gigaclear will help you switch and cancel your previous contract, but this isn’t an automatic process.

After clicking 'Get Deal' and completing your order, call Gigaclear’s One Touch Switch service on 0370 774 0533.

For more help, read our guide: 'how to switch broadband and save on your next deal'.

As Gigaclear uses its own network, it’s possible to carry out seamless switching with no downtime at all.

Gigaclear Installation

Before your installation date, your property will need to be inspected by Gigaclear’s full fibre engineers. External work will be completed and a coil of fibre cable will be left at your external property wall (you do not have to be at home for this work).

However, someone over the age of 18 will need to be present on installation day.

Your installation can be booked to take place between 14-90 days from placing your order, at any time convenient to you.

The process will involve drilling a small hole through your external wall. Bear this in mind if you live in a rental property and seek permission from your landlord before signing up.
