Check your postcode and find the best Zen package for you.

Operating since 1995, Zen Internet is a popular provider that offers both standard fibre and full-fibre broadband packages across areas of the UK.

We’re here to help you choose the best Zen Internet package for your home.

Zen broadband packages

There’s a wide range of Zen fibre broadband options available. But package choice will depend on where you live. Not all homes can get Zen’s fastest full fibre deals.

Here’s a summary of Zen packages and speeds and who they could be good for:

Zen Internet packages

Zen's offers both part fibre and full fibre packages.

Upload speeds depend on which network serves your address. On Zen’s partner networks, such as CityFibre, upload speeds are symmetrical, which means as fast as your download speed. On the Openreach network, upload speeds are slower.

We’ve listed those against each package.

What router do you get with Zen Internet?

Zen usually supplies the FRITZ!Box 7530 AX router with its fibre broadband packages. This supports Wi-Fi 6 and is suitable for streaming, browsing and video calls in most homes.

Customers signing up to Full Fibre Max may get the eero Pro 6E. This mesh router supports Wi-Fi 6E and is better for larger homes with many connected devices.

  • What is a mesh router?

A mesh router is a Wi-Fi system made up of a main router and one or more extra units placed around your home.

The units work together to spread a strong Wi-Fi signal into rooms a single router struggles to reach, such as upstairs bedrooms or a garden office.

Your devices see one Wi-Fi network and switch between the units automatically.

Mesh networks are most useful in larger homes, homes with thick walls, or anywhere with Wi-Fi dead spots.

Is Zen Internet good value for money?

Zen Internet prices can be higher than those of budget broadband providers.

Entry-level Zen fibre broadband packages typically cost around £25–£35 per month, depending on speed and availability. Full fibre plans cost more, usually rising with higher speed tiers.

Contracts are 24 months, and there’s a £15 setup fee for Openreach connections.

But one of Zen's biggest selling points is its price promise. Unlike a lot of the larger national providers, it doesn’t apply annual mid-contract price rises, so the monthly cost stays the same throughout your minimum term.

Are Zen broadband deals worth it?

Pros Cons
  • No mid-contract price rises
  • Strong UK-based customer support
  • Reliable fibre and full fibre services
  • Usually more expensive than budget providers
  • Setup fees may apply (Openreach)
  • Upload speeds vary by network

Overall, Zen broadband deals offer reliability, good customer service and stable pricing. For some customers, this can prove more important than the lowest possible monthly cost.

Performance and reliability: is Zen broadband any good?

Zen gives everyone a personal minimum expected broadband speed based on their address.

Zen has also been part of Ofcom’s automatic compensation scheme since 2019. This promises to give customers refunds if certain service issues occur, such as delayed repairs or missed appointments.

Customer feedback is generally positive.

At the time of writing, Zen holds an "Excellent" rating on Trustpilot. Many of the reviews specifically praise reliability, customer service and straightforward pricing.

Zen is also a certified B Corp and supports environmental and community projects through the Zen Foundation.

FAQs

  • How long does it take to install Zen Internet?

It takes around 14 days to install and activate most of Zen’s standard home broadband services. Some Zen full fibre packages may need an engineer visit, which can extend installation times.

  • How fast is Zen Internet?

Speeds range from around 36Mbps on entry-level packages to 2.3Gbps on the fastest Zen full fibre services in selected areas. Upload speeds vary by network and package.

  • Can I use a different router with Zen?

Yes. Customers can use their own compatible router. An upgrade to the eero Max 7 is also available for those who want a more advanced setup.

  • Is Zen trustworthy?

Zen Internet has built a strong reputation for customer service and reliability. Customers tend to praise the provider most favourably for technical support and network performance.

Can you get Zen?

Alongside Openreach, Zen also works with selected full fibre networks including:

  • CityFibre
  • Trooli
  • MS3
  • Freedom Fibre

This gives Zen access to a growing full fibre footprint, but coverage isn’t as widespread as some of the UK's largest providers. Checking your postcode is the easiest way to see which Zen fibre broadband services are available.

Pricing Calculation

Effective monthly cost = This shows how much you are effectively paying each month over the length of the contract by taking into account rewards savings and one-off fees. The calculation for this is monthly cost x length of contract + setup cost - rewards savings.

Monthly cost = What you'll pay each month. This does not include additional fees, such as phone calls, which may be added to your bill.

Setup cost = The cost of installation, postage for the Wi-Fi router, and any other one-off charges.

Total Price Rise Costs = This is the additional amount paid over the course of the contract based on any annual price rises by the provider.

Rewards saving = The value of vouchers and other perks included with a deal such as cashback, bill credit or a gift card which you can claim.

What does this mean?

The speedometer gives you a quick idea of how fast a deal is. Speeds are shown in average download speed (Mb/Gb) – here’s what each level means:

💡 Tip: You don’t always need the highest speed, but it can help make things smoother and future-proof your home.
