Can you get a better deal from Sky as an existing customer?
If you’re at the end of your current Sky Broadband deal, you’re free to either renew your existing package, upgrade to a faster service, or switch to a new brand new broadband deal.
Before you weigh up your options, it’s a good idea to have a quick browse through and see the broadband deals currently available at your home.
If you previously took out a long 24-month contract, you may be surprised at the options now available to you. It’s likely you’ll be able to get a faster broadband deal or make use of a special offer if you switch to a new broadband provider.
The easiest way to do this is to use Broadband Genie's deals checker. Compare today's best deals available to you by entering your address into the box below:
Alternatively, if you just want to see some great deals at a glance, here are a few of the best packages currently available:
But what if you'd rather not leave Sky? We understand you may be reluctant to lose some of the add-ons you've enjoyed, like HD channels, the excellent on-demand options, or your Sky Glass.
If this is the case, it’s unwise to let your contract continue with the same deal without getting in touch with customer services. It’s always best to at least renew or upgrade when your current contract expires.
Sky existing customer deals
These are some of the deals currently available from Sky Broadband if you’re a new customer:
Sky deals for existing customers will likely cost around the same as those for a new customer. But if you look at the bigger picture, you’re likely to be at a slight disadvantage. Why? Well, you won’t be able to make use of the gift cards or other incentives used to lure new customers.

Sky broadband upgrade offers for existing customers
Staying with Sky doesn’t necessarily mean you need to keep the same broadband package. Upgrade options include faster broadband speeds, maybe moving onto a full fibre broadband service, improved TV deals or adding on a different Sky Talk tariff.
Upgrading to Sky fibre
Upgrading between Sky broadband’s fibre products is simple. For example, if you want to move from Sky Broadband Superfast 35 to Sky Broadband Superfast 61Mb, this will be delivered through your same phone line. Both these packages are widely available around the country and use the BT Openreach network.

What is Openreach?
Openreach is the company that maintains the former British Telecom Network used for the majority of broadband and phone services. If a repair or installation is required, it’s Openreach who will send an engineer, not your provider.
More than 650 service providers using the Openreach network. That’s the majority of the UK’s broadband providers. This includes Sky, TalkTalk and BT. The exception to this is Virgin Media - it uses its own, separate cable network.
To find out whether you can upgrade your broadband, enter a postcode to see what speeds and services are available in your area.
Upgrading to Sky Full Fibre
If you already have Sky Broadband Superfast 35 or Sky Broadband 75, your options for an upgrade are Sky Full Fibre deals. But to be able to sign up, you’ll need to have access to a full fibre network (FTTP).

Frequently asked questions about Sky deals for existing customers
-
What happens to my Sky Broadband contract when I renew or upgrade?
Whether you renew your existing broadband service or upgrade to a faster speed, you’ll need to sign up for a new contract. That means you’ll be committed to paying for Sky Broadband for another 24 months.
If you think you may have to cancel during this time, you might need to consider an alternative short-term deal instead, as if you cancel your broadband package early, you’ll be charged an early exit fee.

Can I upgrade my Sky broadband?
Anyone with a 36Mb Sky Fibre service will probably be able to move to the faster 61Mb service. Otherwise, the only upgrades available are Sky Full Fibre. At this time, fewer homes can get this service. Use our deals checker to find out what speeds are available in your area.
-
Can I get Sky Gigafast in my area?
Sky Gigafast will need your home to be connected to a full fibre network. This technology is still rolling out across the UK, so few homes currently have access to this.
Just about everyone will be able to get Sky TV. The only requirements are a landline and the ability to install a Sky satellite dish. You won’t need a Sky TV satellite dish if you’re signed up to Sky Stream, Sky Glass, or if you’re happy to watch Sky with a NOW TV pass, or use the Sky Go app.

How do I contact Sky?
The best way to view Sky upgrade offers is to log into your My Sky account. For further contact details, visit our guide to Sky customer services.

Will I get a new Wi-Fi router if I upgrade my Sky Broadband?
You will probably be given a new Wi-Fi router if you are upgrading from Sky Broadband Essential to a fibre optic service, or from Sky Superfast to Sky Full Fibre.
There’s also now an option to upgrade to a premium WiFi Max Hub for all broadband packages, though you’ll need to pay extra for this.
If you're renewing but not upgrading, or your current Wi-Fi router is sufficient for your new broadband service, then you probably won't receive a free Wi-Fi router. You don’t get anything without asking, though! If this is a deal-breaker for you staying or leaving, it’s worth mentioning to customer services.

Do I need to pay for a Sky TV box or dish?
There will be a setup fee for Sky TV, which covers the TV box and satellite installation. The cost will vary depending on your chosen package and extras, but typically, you can expect to pay £20-£50.
Expert Summary
If you’re coming to the end of your Sky Broadband contract, or you’ve noticed your minimum term has already passed, you should research your options.
When you’re no longer under contract, you’re free to leave Sky Broadband without a fee. Switching broadband providers is easy and, most of the time, you shouldn’t even need to get in touch with Sky at all. If you’re moving to another provider on the Openreach network, they’ll sort all the admin for you.
We won’t blame you if you want to stay as a Sky Broadband customer, though. Those TV packages are very tempting!
Our advice is, even if you want to stick it out, get in touch with customer services. You may be able to get a good offer on an upgrade, or an improved Sky Broadband Hub.
Since you last signed up to Sky, you may now have access to Sky’s speedy full fibre packages. These aren’t necessarily always much pricier. You may find you can get an upgrade on download speed without paying too much more per month.
