I have been with talktalk just over 6 months and have not had a full weeks uninterrupted service yet.
Speed falls to less than 2, I get in touch and it miraculously returns 10 even though they do nothing and can not find a fault. The service is off at least once a week for several hours.

The help people are nice enough, but when I have asked to contact someone to close my contract, and requested evening, I get called early morning and lunchtime when I can not take the call.

The person who rang me last time seemed to be in the middle of his lunch as all I could hear was him chewing and could not understand a word he said.

I have given up on trying to to close the contract, so am going to change back to Plusnet with whom I never had to call them once nor had a single problem on the same line for 4 years.

Do not touch them with a long stick

We have had intermittent problems and slower than guaranteed minimum speed (34mbs) for over a year. Despite many calls it has never been resolved. In Sept 2020 the speed dropped to around 15mbs and cut out multiple times daily. It has taken 2 talktalk engineer visits and over 20 calls (total logged call time of 17hrs) for them to finally send an openreach engineer who resolved it immediately. Customer service is terrible, having to repeat and go through the same explanation, checks etc every time, and being passed from person to person and being told they have done something that should resolve it.
Despite being told on 4 occasions I would get a refund under their speed guarantee - this has not happened and I have given up spending time trying to contact them to explain and request it.
To cap it all, then they charged £80 for their engineer visits (despite it only being resolved by openreach). After a further 3 calls (lasting approx 1.5hrs) it looks like it may be credited to my account soon.
I would recommend avoiding them on all aspects of their service. I will not be renewing my contract when it expires.

I must say that I've not had to contact customer services very much, however on the last 2 occasions I felt that I had been threatened. The first time was when I was experiencing a serious illness and going through treatment. The second time was the weekend before last when I found out that people were not able to ring in. When I contacted Talktalk I felt that I was being shouted at and I felt extremely humiliated and frustrated. The advisor after more than an hour agreed to send an engineer free of charge. The engineer I spoke to was lovely and I explained that my issue had spontaneously been resolved so he said it was an outside issue!! I have been with Talktalk for more than 15 years, however my treatment has ensured that I will be leaving them when my contract ends in the near future. If you choose this company please take into account all the reviews on this site!

Went to Currys as we wanted to change broadband provider,Talk Talk was recommended WHAT A LOAD OF RUBBISH!!!!!

Rang up to complain and internet was intermittent was told that if I had a probelem would need to ring them and let them know, if I did this I would be on the phone every day you can guarantee theft every morning and evening the broadband will not be available

Gave them a poor review, had a call from them to discuss at the time my husband was ill in hospital pointed this out to them and advised I did not have time to mess around shutting the router off as needed to get to the hospital and to just get it fixed, they then said to me have a good evening. The joys of dealing with Indian call centres

DO NOT TOUCH THIS RUBBISH COMPANY

Talk Talk is an absolute and total nightmare. Appalling service and customer care. Company is concerned with making profit at the expense of only and customer's satisfaction. Would give them 0.00001 stars if the option was available.

Far and away the worst company I've ever had to deal with.

I'm an existing customer who made the upgrade from standard broadband to fiber. My live date

was June 8th at which point they disconnected my old service and told me the new one was live.

It wasnt. I was getting a specific error message which I'll paste to help anyone else searching

    for the same problem :

The Agent Remote ID presented by the DSLAM is incorrect

Its now been ten days and I'm still not connected nor will they give me a definite answer on

when or even if it's going to be looked at.

The phone "help" desk are pathetic. All they do is tell you to turn off the router for 30

minutes then it'll be sorted. They know this isnt the case. It just gets you off the phone and

when you ring back it's someone else's problem. If you do get to a supervisor you get the

deluxe package "ring back in 72 hours" during which they will again do nothing. Ring back and

you're at square one where if you're lucky you'll get 20 minutes or so on hold before being

    disconnected.

Their twitter is slightly better but all you get are apologies and "it's being investigated"

replies. I've been getting told this for six days now.

The error I'm getting isnt a hardware or line problem. It's apparently "down to an

authentication mismatch on the broadband, between TalkTalk & BT Openreach". So somewhere the

wrong info is on a database.

They just dont seem to care. Go to their website and the "community" section for more horror

stories of people waiting over a month for this to be resolved.

They may be amazing if everything goes to plan but trust me, if there's a problem they are

beyond useless and the fact you're paying for a service they arent delivering doesnt seem to

matter. They have your money, you can wait.

I've been dealing with this company for over 2 months, the broadband speed isnt what i'm paying for its lower, after two external openreach engineers and one that came into the house my line from the box right up to the router is perfect, so from the router out why isnt it the same, i'll answer that, because talktalk are reducing it, i get sometimes 5 times a day of no internet, its suppose to be 60-80 i'm lucky to get 50, i've emailed the ceo more times than i'd email my best friend, all i get back is excuses and apologies, told them i dont want apologies i want the speed i'm paying for, i do my own speed tests with ookla, i'll do a talktalk test the speed will obviously say 63 for example, then ookla and it says 43, who do i believe, ookla obviously, the mornings when the engineers are due the speeds rise until the engineer has gone back to his van and spent 5 minutes putting in his report then my speed drops again, its so obvious its embarrassing, talktalk just chat ****, i've had enough, i'm sick of them, i was told today not to shout down the phone, well sorry but keep sending fools to speak to me and i'll just get crosser, once again today i was told we'll do a couple of tests and call you back, that was 3 hours ago and still no call, i want someone sensible to speak to not a talktalk robot, i've got a notebook full of data, ombudsman next i think because this is just total rubbish, i hope talktalk read this but i know they dont care.

Paid for the fastest speed. Constantly dropping out. I was promised 100+ mbps and whenever I did a speed test it was typically < 3mbps although would occasionally jump to around 30 (that’s if it was even working). At one point the power supply for the box decided to fail. Customer service quality was heavily dependant upon who answered the phone. More than once I contacted and was hung up on for no apparent reason (it was not call failed, but call ended). This was after being polite and friendly so it wasn’t like I was doing a Karen on them. I ended up having to pay out for my own power supply. I strongly recommend you avoid talk talk. Lesson learnt, I will not be purchasing broadband from them again.

Having seen all the bad press about TalkTalk, I am a little surprised to admit that for me, actually its been a good service. Reliability has been very good (compared to previously VirginMedia) drop outs have been almost non-existent, help desk has been easy to get through to and pretty responsive. Phone service has been fine. Nuff said...?

I've used Talk Talk for a number of years, but its become much worse in the last year. What happened?!?!
Their staff have zero communication skills...and I wouldn't mention that if I hadn't worked so hard to find some area of understanding.
Had sent a written complaint in July due to my higher charges and it was never resolved. Plenty of voicemail messages (from Ireland) that I could barely understand, and yet (it seems) everyone else in Customer Services resides in India. Communications just go round in never ending circles!
Yes, Talk Talk offer low cost contracts. But, now I know how that happens...I'm out!

Like countless other Talk Talk Customers who were unfortunate enough to sign up to the unfathomably dreadful “service", I too received appalling broadband connection, below average broadband speeds (in my case 3.3mbps) and regular service disconnections.
After contacting Talk Talk to discuss these issues I was presented with a replacement router that resolved exactly none of these issues.
Talk Talk's broadband speeds really had a chance to show what they weren't capable of when two devices attempted to access the same WiFi network... Crash!

However, it is Talk Talk's unashamedly abysmal customer service and shockingly rude employees that win this internet and phone provider the award for number one company to avoid at all costs.
Counting down the days before I could finally break free from their torturous 12 month prison sentence, I attempted (on numerous occasions) to phone the company to inform them that I would like to switch providers................................................................
    .................
    ..

Exactly that, the line went dead...
At first I gave Talk Talk the benefit of the doubt and assumed that it was a bad connection (I mean it is Talk Talk we're dealing with here) so I called them again and lo and behold the same thing happened.
Now, you know what they say about assuming things, right? Well, they certainly made an “Ass outa me"...
I was hung up on six times before a “technical supervisor" would speak to me about leaving Talk Talk and even then they wouldn't actually discuss the “leaving" part.
After barely audible, what I assume were “sales tactics" (or a desperate lover asking repeatedly “but why do you want to go?..."), I had managed to finally convince the “technical supervisor" that I no longer wanted to pay for a service which at best was barely provided. I was then asked to wait whilst I was to be connected to the cancellation department and after a reluctant ten minute wait I was greeted by the same advisor who then said “I will now put you through to the cancellation department". Guess what happened next........................................................................
Yep!! You guessed it, another disconnected call.

Though instead of breaking my spirits Talk Talk had only made me more steadfast. I researched method after method to leaving this soul sucking corporation and of course, there is no easy way out...
    Sending a written letter to;

    TalkTalk Correspondence Dept.
    PO Box 675 Salford
    M5 0NL

is a suggestion though if their telephone manner is anything to go by then I'm guessing that Talk Talk's letter box has an industrial sized shredder on the other side of it.

    The email address for Talk Talk;
    concerns@talktalkplc.com
is, not surprisingly, a dedicated complaints address... Feel free to use it and tell Talk Talk exactly how you feel about their service and don't be shy...

So yes, I had to pick up that phone again and delve once more, head first into the insane asylum that is the Talk Talk customer service “help" line. If only it was just “once more"...

Long story short and after much more perseverance, I was finally speaking with a Talk Talk Technical Supervisor “Manager" (at least that's what I was told). She advised me to call back in two days to cancel otherwise I would incur an early exit fee.
I kindly asked if she would put a note of our current conversation into their system so that when I called back in two days time I would not have to go through this recurring madness for the sixteenth time. She assured me not to worry and that all my requests will be logged and my next phone call to discuss cancellation will be simple and straightforward...... Now, do you think this was the case?... Well, that's a story for a different day...

    SPOILER ALERT!!

It was basically Groundhog Day the movie if Groundhog Day had been based on a never ending circle of phone calls to Talk Talk requesting to cancel their service and then them hanging up.

I implore anyone who has even fleetingly considering signing their hard ‘earned over' to Talk Talk's money pit pockets to deeply reconsider. You will NOT get a fluid service and you will NOT be able to cancel their service without severe difficulty and countless hours of stress and endless perseverance.

No, No, No!!! Just don't do it!!! Not even if they are ridiculously cheap or offering cashback!!

THEY ARE A DISGUSTINGLY POOR PHONE LINE & BROADBAND PROVIDER!!

THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS!!

THEY CARE ONLY FOR MONEY, THEIR OWN GAIN & PROFIT!!

THEY WILL SIGN YOU UP, BILL YOU & NEVER LET YOU GO!!

    YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED...

Had Dante endured the ultimate displeasure of even three minutes dealing with a Talk Talk Technical Supervisor the “Inferno" poem he penned hundreds of years ago would certainly depict a far worse hell.

Abandon hope all ye who enter into a contract with Talk Talk.

You have been given more than fair warning...

I have been without a phone for over 6 weeks now. We had an outreach engineer visit who said the problem was outside the house and required digging to fix the problem. Talk talk contacted me and informed me the job would be done by 13th September. The date come and nothing happened. I phoned them for an update and treated the call as a new fault report and said they will have to send an engineer. They don't listen to you at all. Avoid talk talk.

Rubbish.... I renewed with allegedly faster fibre, guaranteed 35mb it’s been 3 weeks and it’s never passed 19mb, engineer booked to visit between 9-12 so I took Unpaid leave...at 12:09 I called talk talk to be told he was running late and had tried to call me, when I challenged them on some evidence of his call they then changed the story to “ oh it’s ok he doesn’t need access to your property I informed them he was supposed to be checking the router and therefore Would need access to the house, I have demanded some compensation for my time off work as I was told if I cancelled a visit I would be charged! So I see no reason it shouldn’t work both ways. I have another visit booked for today between 12-3 I am not holding my breath. I have called this morning to make sure the engineer is coming they said yes

So what the hell is happening here? We have been with TalkTalk for quite a while now and decided to upgrade last year to speed up the B/Band on an offer that they had. All good no problems faster and much better. Then I got a phone call from TalkTalk (really!!?), they wanted me to download a programme to allow access to my computer to fix problems, seriously. When I refused access to my computer and the offer expired and we began to pay MORE!!!!!, the service has gone from excellent to, well too low for zero to quote Elton John. At the moment I am trying to get this poor service addressed. More later.

I live in a rural area, and after looking through these reviews I've come to the conclusion that my talktalk fibre optic broadband must be faulty. I get just over 33mb which is only 5mb down from the 'upto' 38mb advertised, I am a mile away from the exchange in our village, not a problem. My phone connection has been perfect. I have the plus tv package. The YouView box that talktalk supply isn't the best, just ok there. I have my tv, blueray, Sky, YouView and my AV reciever plus my computer and multi mobile phones conneted to the internet 24/7 and not a hitch when watching films on netflixs, youtube etc. I must say the service, for me, is excellent. I've been with talktalk for over four years.

DO NOT TOUCH THIS COMPANY WITH A BARGE POLE OR BELIEVE A WORD THEY SAY!!!!
Having being offered a free upgrade to fibre broadband we found to our cost that TALKTALK cannot provide this service in our area. We were without our internet service for three months. TalkTalk repeatedly told us that they were working on the problem yet never managed to connect us to the fibre broadband service at any point. They now insist that we should pay almost £500.00p in fees due to us terminating our contract with them. We have had little option but to do this and will not pay for a service that was never supplied and a contract that to our minds was never honoured. The customer service throughout TALKTALK is disorganised and very poor. One department doesn't know what the next department is doing, the record of calls to the various departments that you'll end up speaking to are not added to your account and most of the information that you receive is contradictory or just plain wrong. I would not advise using this company AT ALL. I have worked in the customer service industry for years and have NEVER dealt with a WORSE company than TALKTALK!! LEAVE TALKTALK WELL ALONE AND CHOOSE A DIFFERENT SUPPLIER!!!

    AVOID TALKTALK!!
its is worst service provider i have ever used. there are so many hidden chargers you bills will always be more than you actually expect always.
they dont explain the chargers correctly AT ALL not on the web page or when speaking to customer services. i have nothing but bs from this company since i signed up with them for homephone & broadband in november2014 and i have regretted it ever since. i have since got the tv package as i was told it was free and there wouldnt be nothing extra added to my bill every month as it was free i agreed to this after asking what the charge would be and being told repeatedly there was no charge going to be added to my bill and it wasnt until one of the customer service agent whom i spoke too said to me and quote "if u do get charged for this service madame u can ring back customer services and ask for a manager when i get to speak to the manager give them my name, the time and date of this call as every call is recorded so u can ask them to play this call back and they will hear me telling you that no extra charge will be put on ur account as the tv is free to all homephone & broadband customers" so like a fool i agreed to the tv aswell. my bill came and it wasnt what i expected at all it had doubled so i rang talktalk kicking off i spoke to a manager repeated what customer service agent told me and the manager said he would look into this and could i give him a few days i said ok few days came and went no call back no letter no refund ? i call customer services AGAIN and i was told that peticullar manager had fallen ill and they were unable to say when he would be back to deal with my complaint... and i havent herd from him since. TALKTALK more like whatajoke! THE WORST BY FAR AND THEY RI U OFF!!!!

I would definitely recommend talktalk, as in the small print for everyone complaining there is a guaranteed minimum speed for your area which if it drops below you can cancel without an exit fee, I'm happy with the speed I get as there is only 3 of us who use it and one gamer we get around 5mbps on average.
The Internet does slow down a little around peak times but anyone with common sense knows that traffic management has to be used on a BT line considering how many providers use them.
My price is fixed as I was told it would be it stays at £28 per month as I only use what's inclusive in my package.
The customer services I do think could have better English sometimes but for the most part they have better English than most English people!
I only needed an engineer once when I had a problem which was dealt with within a week as again we all know it's BT engineers who have to service every provider on their lines so I understood it was impossible to come out straight away.
All in all I would say talktalk have a brilliant service and would recommend it to anyone, if you are someone who needs really high speeds go to virgin as we all know talktalk and all other providers can only support speeds up to 76mbps as their is no fibre to your home on a BT copper Line but definitely one of the best companies who do actually have some UK call centres!

They sent me an offer. Half price internet and half price line rental (I have BT line rental at the moment). Called them to verify. First of all, instead me asking them for clarification about things I wanted to ask the guy on the other side of the line could not shut up and kept talking. Then offered me more expensive option. Then it turned out that apparently the offer is "old" (it was dated for this month on it) and they don`t offer half price line rental. When I said it is in date he "talked to manager" and said that "that offer ended about week ago". Lied again, as the small print on the other side says that offer valid till 30.11.14. That is how they tantalize people. When I said it was unethical he nearly shouted at me and treated like an idiot, because I don`t want to pay less, trying to redirect me and disregard the fact the the offer was purposely misleading and unethical. All conversation was nearly a monologue from the "advisor", I should have disconnected without word, just did not want to be rude. Lost 4 quid. Worst customer service in my life so far and a blatant rip off as well. I`ll check if written offer is binding, already have two of them. I`ve been with AOL, taken over by Talk Talk for 8 years. high time to change. Stay away from cheaters.

The only happy thing I can say about them is that the people I have dealt with on the phone have always been pleasant although a lot of the time we've been unable to understand each other. Few of them are that fluent in English and I do not have an overly strong Scots accent and am very well-spoken grammar-wise, so I doubt I am causing any communication difficulties.
We were sent one of their own routers last time we had a problem, and it's terrible - we've gone back to our trusty Netgear one. The connection speed is still patchy, slow and unreliable at best however.
I don't believe we even joined TalkTalk on purpose - they absorbed whomever we were with before (Homecall, I think?) who had given us a reliable service - and we've tolerated them too long as these past two years the service has degraded unacceptably and our sanity along with it.

Absolutely dreadful broadband and telephone provider. Broadband was totally unreliable, connection was rubbish and the router was outdated. When I first took the contract with talk talk, it was the cheapest around but recently I have found cheaper and better service with Sky. I didn't have a direct debit set up with talk talk because of a banking issue and I was charged an extra £14 a month because of this (£10 'admin charge' and £4 non-direct debit payment charge), this is an extortionate sum which was more than half of the price of my package. Internet connection was poor and would go on and off.

Since being with broadband I have had numerous problems. Upgraded to a 'faster' service.... Still had same problems. Can't seem to get the issue sorted even thou they tell me that there is a problem with my line and sent out 3 engineers I still have an intermittent Internet that comes on and off when it pleases. Staff are always polite on phone however it takes ages to get through to them

Absolutely appalling. I use TalkTalk for both home and business. For the past month internet has been out constantly at home and intermittent at work. Phone call, after phone call, hours spent on the phone going through their 'testing' process. Still no internet. It's always been poor but for the last month has been totally unavailable constantly. TalkTalk do nothing to follow you up and see if things are improved and frankly they just don't appear to care. 1 star if far too high a rating but I have to click something.

Well ive been on the phone again for 28 minutes and counting. Have an on going problem which an engineer finAlly came to resolve yesterday only the problem started again overnight. Tv broadband just drops out on a regular basis. Tried all the fixes over the phone many many times which caused a temporary fix. I've lost many hours of my life on the phone to them over2 years. Was advised to get fibre broadband but that hasn't helped. Still on phone at 33 minutes. Can't put me through to line manager about complaints as he's too busy and recant guarantee they will call me back!! I have had enough and would recommend you pay the extra and go elsewhere!!

Absolutely awful company! Have had consistency issues from day one and yet it has taken countless "tests", half a dozen calls and several months to get an engineer to even come out!
The customer service is an absolute joke! This evening I phoned about an the ongoing complaint about consistency and the "manager" I was speaking to assured me that I did not need an engineer, instead, many tests to work out what was actually wrong with it. I told her and insisted that all I needed was a refund and an engineer to come out. After countless tests and 55 mins on the phone, she reluctantantly told me that I did indeed need an engineer. I couldn't believe it. Worst company ever! Steer well clear in my opinion!!!!!!

Customer service hopeless. Even after telling the rep I was sitting with fractured ribs I could get NO service after trying solidlyfor two hours. Needless to0 say we we will be getting a MAC number and moving to a service which does talk and provide service.

If there was a zero rating then Talk Talk deserves zero. DO NOT join them!!! Save your sanity, time and eventually money and go somewhere else! Stay away from Talk Talk! Terrible customer service, no clear complaints procedure. Unclear charges for engineer visit and engineer logged no fault found and charged £65 for visit. No internet for 11 days whilst waiting on engineer to come out! Engineer says its a code problem and somehow Talk Talk would not take off the engineer charge. You have to call them each time as the promised management call backs do NOT call back! There is no email communication to them, only post and phone call, so more cost and time used for this.
There was a fault which is why the internet was not working, the remote help couldn't solve the problem, so an engineer was sent out. Promised if it's not my equipment (inside) then won't charge. Why would I risk paying £65 if it's my equipment!? Engineer on the day said not my fault and somehow Talk Talk has no log of it and charges £65. After 4 phone calls talking to many many people explaining the same thing again and again as not one department is able to handle the complaint. Escalating to different departments Customer Service, Enginering Dispute Team, Billing Dept, currently repy from Customer Relations Dept and now escalation onto the final CEO department, yet to write that letter and go to buy a stamp and post it and make that phone call!

I asked them, do we operate in 1980's? No direct person to handle to complaint, no email communication, waiting nearly two weeks for an engineer? 6 years of being with Talk Talk due to loyalty and this is how they treat you when something goes wrong with their internet connection.

Least to say I have moved to Virgin Media, engineering costs are included in the cost and customers don't get charged for the company to sort out a problem, so us as customers paying for a service can use what we are paying for!

I do not usually write posts reviews, but this really needs to be made aware of to the public. Ultimately Talk Talk is not as cheap as they work out to be. In the long run they will catch you out with hidden charges. (And do not explain clearly how that is charged. Just stay away from them and use another more reputable service provider!)

At an event when I tried to end my contact they were charging lots of money. Cut off phone line and broadband even though I still had one month to use. I paid for phone line one year in advance. Had to involve Citizen Advice Bureau. Customer service very poorly, discrimination is present. Would definitely not recommend to anyone.

Broadband is actually OK when its working, HOWEVER the customer service is despicable, disjointed and its ridiculously difficult to understand half the people they have working in their obviously indian call centre. SERIOUSLY SHOCKINGLY BAD.

You get to what you think is a resolution or a promise that it will be fixed and dealt with, but call them back when its NOT fixed and they dont even know what the previous conversations were, and they start the whole process again.

RIDICULOUSLY BAD Customer experience, wish i had gone with someone-anyone else!!

Had phone line and broadband with Tisscali and TalkTalk for over 10 years. Last summer broad band was off more than on. Spoke to lots people from Indian sub continent difficult to understand refused "help from engineer " at £50 a time to check line, I was on the phone at the time!! Told the last person I've had enough I'm changing provider back to BT. Now I'm being chased for £200 for the rest of my "unsignrd contract" They broke the contract by denying me broadband for so long. Now being chased by a debt agency who are sympathetic because they are getting false information from TalkTalk. What a terrible company to deal with.
