Like countless other Talk Talk Customers who were unfortunate enough to sign up to the unfathomably dreadful “service", I too received appalling broadband connection, below average broadband speeds (in my case 3.3mbps) and regular service disconnections.
After contacting Talk Talk to discuss these issues I was presented with a replacement router that resolved exactly none of these issues.
Talk Talk's broadband speeds really had a chance to show what they weren't capable of when two devices attempted to access the same WiFi network... Crash!

However, it is Talk Talk's unashamedly abysmal customer service and shockingly rude employees that win this internet and phone provider the award for number one company to avoid at all costs.
Counting down the days before I could finally break free from their torturous 12 month prison sentence, I attempted (on numerous occasions) to phone the company to inform them that I would like to switch providers................................................................

Exactly that, the line went dead...
At first I gave Talk Talk the benefit of the doubt and assumed that it was a bad connection (I mean it is Talk Talk we're dealing with here) so I called them again and lo and behold the same thing happened.
Now, you know what they say about assuming things, right? Well, they certainly made an “Ass outa me"...
I was hung up on six times before a “technical supervisor" would speak to me about leaving Talk Talk and even then they wouldn't actually discuss the “leaving" part.
After barely audible, what I assume were “sales tactics" (or a desperate lover asking repeatedly “but why do you want to go?..."), I had managed to finally convince the “technical supervisor" that I no longer wanted to pay for a service which at best was barely provided. I was then asked to wait whilst I was to be connected to the cancellation department and after a reluctant ten minute wait I was greeted by the same advisor who then said “I will now put you through to the cancellation department". Guess what happened next........................................................................
Yep!! You guessed it, another disconnected call.

Though instead of breaking my spirits Talk Talk had only made me more steadfast. I researched method after method to leaving this soul sucking corporation and of course, there is no easy way out...

So yes, I had to pick up that phone again and delve once more, head first into the insane asylum that is the Talk Talk customer service “help" line. If only it was just “once more"...

Long story short and after much more perseverance, I was finally speaking with a Talk Talk Technical Supervisor “Manager" (at least that's what I was told). She advised me to call back in two days to cancel otherwise I would incur an early exit fee.
I kindly asked if she would put a note of our current conversation into their system so that when I called back in two days time I would not have to go through this recurring madness for the sixteenth time. She assured me not to worry and that all my requests will be logged and my next phone call to discuss cancellation will be simple and straightforward...... Now, do you think this was the case?... Well, that's a story for a different day...

SPOILER ALERT!!

It was basically Groundhog Day the movie if Groundhog Day had been based on a never ending circle of phone calls to Talk Talk requesting to cancel their service and then them hanging up.

I implore anyone who has even fleetingly considering signing their hard ‘earned over' to Talk Talk's money pit pockets to deeply reconsider. You will NOT get a fluid service and you will NOT be able to cancel their service without severe difficulty and countless hours of stress and endless perseverance.

No, No, No!!! Just don't do it!!! Not even if they are ridiculously cheap or offering cashback!!

THEY ARE A DISGUSTINGLY POOR PHONE LINE & BROADBAND PROVIDER!!

THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS!!

Had Dante endured the ultimate displeasure of even three minutes dealing with a Talk Talk Technical Supervisor the “Inferno" poem he penned hundreds of years ago would certainly depict a far worse hell.

Very slow average download speed 4.5 and upload 0.7. Keep phoning talk talk and they run tests which takes on average about 25minutes. Then they say it is fixed and speed will improve over next 24 hours but the last 2 occasions it actually got slower. And now it keeps on disconnecting, which they say isn't their fault but it's and surprise surprise by say it isn't their fault. Completely fed up with it all.

Terrible coverage, terrible customer service, and absolutely no concept of data protection. They don't have a clue about the latter and for that I would say new customers should be running scared.

There are many other, much better, providers you can go with. Because of talk talk i have and will be without an internet connection in my home for an entire month.

Talk talk is ****. They give you 56 mb speed but you cant reach to their speed.

Also if you are moving they never help you.bcause they dont want loose customer. When you say i have cancel my broadband than they hang up on you.... dead line... try again same questions than again dead line... disgusting service...

Absolutely the worst company I have ever dealt with. Shocking customer service and they truly could not care less. Tried to join and they cancelled my activation date 3 times without telling me. It was only when I would call to chase it up that they would let me know and then claim 'technical difficulties'. They have never been able to tell me what these technical difficulties are. At this point I have been without internet and a phone line for 2 weeks and I am now looking at another 2 weeks before I get anywhere. I run a business from home and this has cost me hundreds of pounds. I am beyond disgusted.

Shocking service and customer service even worse, I had nothing but hassle and it was draining and annoying speaking to none English speakers and even asking to be put through to a UK base office they would help. also if you fighting compensation with talktalk take them as far as you can goto CISAS, for every complaint that goes to CISAS it cost talktalk over£300 and if you believe your entitled to compensation then take them all the way, even ask for copies of your account notes and even recordings of your phone calls, I do not trust this company one bit and will never go with a cheaper broadband provider again talktalk deserve to have the worse reviews going there are obviously not doing this correct

I endured poor service for 18 months whilst tied into a contract. I tried to transfer to another supplier only for them to be telling me that after 3 weeks Talk Talk wouldn’t authorise the release. Another astronomical bill from Talk Talk prompted a call to their customer service centre which sounds like it is run from a barn with the amount of background noise. Little empathy, poor understanding of my concern and complaint, no willingness to accept any responsibility. A truly appalling company that I will not recommend nor use ever again.

I do not normally leave bad reviews for any service.

TalkTalk will be one of the first.
I took out a contract in September 2018 at £24 a month.
The internet connection was reliable and average speed for the first two weeks. It went downhill from there, getting slower and connection issues occurring regularly.
I’m talking about 0.5Mbps - and it wasn’t a constant, there were periods it dropped. The ping was awful 500ms+ at times.

Tried many times to have them diagnose an issues - was simply passed around when one test/check did not work.
Long story short - haven’t used TalkTalk for 9 months out of the 12 month contact - it was faster tethering my phone to my laptop to watch Netflix.

Then tried to cancel before my bill went up to £36 a month. They messed around with ‘Maintence ongoing’ while I was trying to cancel my account.
Now I have been charged £36 and it will take 28 days to leave on something I have no signed up for (meaning a further £36 charge).
Will absolutely be taking this as far as I can, it’s a very unfair business practice.

Absolute waste of time and money. Customer service advisors are infuriating and you can barely understand them. They keep you on the phone for ages saying the same thing. Broadband drops out all the time and basically it's a totally rubbish service!

The worst service provider I have ever had. Speeds never go above 3.5mbs and usually drop down to 0.5mb. phoned customer services multiple times only to be connected to someone who does not understand what I'm talking about.Will be ripping up contract.

I would have rated zero star if I could.
Instead of training your customer service, to talk like roborts with constant meaningless "thank you, yes madam, no madam" I suggest TALK TALK improves their service, so it at least makes a logical sense.
Called in today, hi my internet is not working AGAIN. The customer advisor is trying to run security questions past me, I told him that I have changed my mobile number (this was not the first time I did this btw) and i also explained that the mobile number they have on the system is no longer in use. 10 mins later, I was told that a new router is going to be delivered to my address within 24/48h. I said, "ok can you send me a text when delivery is going to come, you dont expect me to stay at home 2 days and make sure you update my mobile number". We cannot update your number over the phone, you need to log in to the portal. Erm... my internet is NOT WORKING. This why I am calling you. The customer advisor "Sorry, we cannot update your details over the telephone. But we will call you in a few days, to ensure that everything is working fine".Eventually I ended up cancelling my broadband, and I will never go back that's for sure and would not recommend to anyone else.

I'd advise everyone to not go with talk talk they took £85 out my account when I'm not even using there services and now there telling me I have to wait a month to get my money back even tho they know it's there fault yet they refuse to put it in til the November. Absolute joke ! I've been on the phone for an hour trying to get it back and I'm still on the phone yet getting put on hold every 5mins!

I have suffered TalkTalk as my IP provider for 20 years to
keep my email address. On 7/6/19 I renewed my contract by
phone when I was promised the contract document by mail.

I'm still waiting 4 months later

I received the new 4 port DSL3782 router but on connecting
find it doesn't provide an IP number to my networked printer.
Before each computer session I have to fiddle with the
router/printer to get it an IP number so I can print.


The new router can be slow in returning search results.
F'instance googling "supreme court" or "nuclear science"
took 60 seconds each time to return results. Others have
complained in forums of the same problem with the DSL3782
router so I reverted to my old DSL3780 router which works OK.

My email domain, which has worked for years, is tiscali.co.uk
but on contract renewal TalkTalk sent me a letter stating
"we can't reach your email address" and giving my mail domain
as hotmail.co.uk. This stated I should update my email addy
otherwise they'd send bills by post at £2 each. I received my
first bill yesterday - for Sept.

I tried to log into TalkTalk's "My Account" but the page was
either blank or could not be reached from TalkTalk's homepage
which was grayed out. (eventually fixed by clearing cookies and
everythingh else with CCleaner). Now I can reach the "MyAccount"
page but can't log in with the ficticious hotmail
or the tiscali
domain which are not recognised. I'm rung support 3 times but
they state they can't change the registered mail domain. 1st tier
support work from scripts and it's pot luck whether you get someone
experienced or completely useless.

So I'm scr&wed. I can't log in to MyAccount and I'm stuck with
intermittent monthly bills at £2 each.

I suspect my problems are something to do with TalkTalk deprecating
the tiscali domain and tightening security as a result of being hacked.

I have 12 months left on my contract but I'll leave TalkTalk as soon as
I find a better provider. I'll write stating they've breached the terms
of the contract (that I did not receive) and that I've stopped the DD.


My recommendation - DO NOT USE TALKTALK.

TalkTalk, Sky and BT, all using same network OpenReach so they all provide same ****** unreliable service. The terrible customer service might be due to lack of training.
The price for my plan was going up every 3 months as extras were added without me requesting them so had to waste at least 1 hour every time to get the refund.
Happy this is my last month of contract however I was overcharged again and I am "not entitled to a refund" as I am not extending my contract!!!

If you want 5mbs internet that can't even load a Youtube page... Get this. I canceled 4 days into it getting installed and the funniest thing is when I told them the internet is extremely slow they told me 'It takes 2 weeks for the internet speed to get as fast as possible' LOL and guess how long the cooling period is for canceling without fees? 2 weeks... An absolute joke- wasted 2 weeks waiting for the broadband to arrive now have to wait another 2 weeks for a new one to get installed. Just a total waste of time and money. Should have read the reviews on here before purchasing- I hope others can see this message and save their time and energy.

I am absolutely disgusted with Talk Talk. I have been a customer for several years. The broadband lately has been dropping in and out, the tv box keeps losing signal and my pin number never works for fils etc. I have tried calling on numerous occasions with no help whatsoever. One individual even suggested unscrewing the phone box with a knife when I said I didn't have a screwdriver to fit. I have now cancelled and gone elsewhere only to find they have invoiced me for a further 1 month in advance even though they know I have cancelled my contract and they have disconnected it. They said I had to pay and then apply for a refund...this is not happening, I would never get the refund as their customer services is awful. Would never use them again. If I could give minus for review It would all be -10

Diabolical customer service. I’d been with talktalk for over 10 years when overnight literally thousands of my emails disappeared into thin air. After hours of torturous exchanges with various staff and being escalated to the highest level, the answer was basically tough luck. You don’t own the email even though you can’t take it with you, and your data isn’t protected. So good luck everyone if your unfortunate enough to be involved with them. You’ll need it!

I am locked into a contract until Dec 2020. Cannot wait to get out! The broadband is absolute rubbish. Tried to sort with customer service to no avail. Had to resort to buying 100gb package on my mobile and am using that to stream box sets on Netflix on our telly. AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS

Disgusting customer service, always foreign and don't understand. They made it nearly impossible for me to cancel after a year. I was bounced around different people who said, 'they couldn't do it' or 'I've reached the wrong number'...

The speed was never what was advertised m but the refused to believe 'my' test results because 'their' results were fine. When I requested to see these results they said they couldn't send it.

What a joke they are. You get 19mbits (as promised) for the first 6 months, then they gradually reduce your speed by 1mbit every month until you're down to 10mbits (hoping you don't notice). When you call them, they claim that it's the router, or the dsl filter or solar flares causing the speed drop, total lies. So after 3 wasted hours talking to them over 3 weeks, they finally decide that sending out a new router would "solve the issue". So the new router arrived and bingo the speed is back to 16mbits...but oh...here's the thing - it's also back up to 16mbits with the old router too. so they blamed the router and then quietly changed a server setting to give me back the 6 mbits they had taken away. Nefarious methods indeed!

What a load and ****. Been on the phone for over an hour every day for the last week re poor phone line and even poorer internet. FINALLY on day 9 they have agreed to send an engineer out - Hooray. I have unplugged as suggested every day, plugged in a new router - they can’t seem to understand that an outside phone junction box hanging off the wall might be the culprit. Oh and yes I have to pay for an engineer. At least they’ll be local.

Rubbish never got coneted yet they billed me for 145 then I rang them up loads of times even to cancel it which I done in the 30 days now I have changed provider but talk talk billed me 48 which I never had it contacted they were rude on the phone which was costing me more money from my mobile they said why didn't use the landline I said I told you that I've never been connected what a joke

All customer services are offshore and are awful. The connections are really bad and it can take 40 mins+ to get even the simplest problem resolved, lord help you if there is anything seriously wrong.

Absolute **** show!! They sent someone 2 weeks after we made the request to establish a connection. So after 2 weeks of wait, the employee turned up without a router. He told us our old router should work so we dug up the old router only to find that it does not connect to the socket the employee set up!! After many complaints, we were told that we need a microfilter and that we had to wait for a few more days for it to be delivered. It has now been 3 weeks without wifi....

I am absolutely furious with talktalk. Called up to cancel over a month ago and paid over the phone for cancellation fee because connection was absolutely abysmal. I have just been charged again!! I called up and apparently there was a systems error when I made my cancellation so it did not go through. Because I didn't receive a confirmation email of cancellation apparently it was my responsibility to chase this up. Completely ridiculous. Customer service is appalling. Do not use this company!!!!!

Internet has been intermittent for days probably due to a very unstable telephone box on the outside of the house. Even my telephone line is unclear. Been asked to switch off and on numerous times. Plugged in a new router, completed fourth line check to no avail. All I want is an engineer to fix the box yet I go round in circles. Leaving for another provider.

Been with talk talk for 6 months, I've had to ring them at the end of each month spending hours on the phone trying to sort out the confusion with payment dates,they have disconnected my internet a number of times and they have charged me late payments fees without notifying me. NIGHTMARE!!

Had the same problem cancelled phone made overuse of £8 and cancelled the phone now they piled me £34.50 saying the phone not cancelled told them the date we phone but there computer said no and they can’t listen to voice recording as the say they record only cancelled because we waited 6 weeks for the tv and internet to go on then they cancelled it and ask us to start again would never use talk talk again

Thankfully, with a £20 escape fee, I am finally changing providers. TalkTalk have been horrendous in terms of broadband speed and reliability - we cannot rely on a good connection. As an example, since Friday my speed has gone up and down from about 0.01 - 4mgb.
They have sent two letters offering better things but they can't seem to understand that we need consistent connection which they are unable to provide.
Apart from that, we have gone through two of their TV boxes, both of which fail to play consistently and service to streaming channels is obviously slow because of the slow connection.
If you can, avoid this company - it's just too much stress.

ABSOLUTELY AWFUL !!!! I've no idea what the broadband is like because 2 months ago the equipment was installed but we are yet to be connected. If you live in York please please please don't sign up. I've cancelled work today to wait in for an engineer who isn't coming. No courtesy phone call. I had to ring them to find out!!
