I find words almost impossible to find in order to describe just how appalling the service of this company has been.
I was promised a price of £23. 20 for an 18 month contract, which I accepted. Time and time again they failed to put this in place despite numerous phone calls to customer service and speaking to people I could barely understand.
They put me on to a charge of £35 plus and failed to collect the direct debit. Despite many phone calls they failed to collect and I had to cancel the original direct debit and they set up a new one. Still they failed to collect and I received a threatening email. After two attempts at payment when they could not process card details, I am now hopeful that payment has been taken via the card.
I have had huge problems where I could access neither my emails nor my account. My passwords have been changed time and time again, they work for a short time and then I am again refused access. At present I can access the account but not emails.
I wait in trepidation for the next problem. Service is nothing short of disgusting.

So i signed up to Talk Talk about 4 years ago and never really had many problems until july 2016. I noticed frequent speed drops to as little as 50KBps which in anyones book is a joke, Sometimes it wasso slow, i couldnt even use a speed chacker as it wouldnt load.. After experiencing this on a weekly. basis i started contacting Talk Talk Tech which is in India. Since i first reported my intermittent fault, i have probably had over 30 days of unusable internet, Whenever i speak to Tech they perform the same old routine.. Turn router off and on, Reset my line, perform a line test.. Nothing works.. I usually have to leave it for 12 hours and hope for the best... The Talk Talk automated phone service is also DUMP, trying to get through to an adviser is almost impossible. i tried to make a complaint so, rang the number, gave my home phone no, they ask what is my problem and i say "file a complaint" this is recognised by the system, they then ask what its about, I say "Slow internet speed" it then takes me to a completely different option where the service wants to text me results of tests... this company is totally junk.. I advise any newcomers to stay well away and pay that extra for a different isp.. i currently have a connection speed of 1.7 mbps when it should be around 16 mbps.. if you want an unreliable service with tech centers in India then go with Talk Talk.... They are an absolute joke of a company and i really hope they lose every customer they have because they dont deserve to be a provider!

    WARNING!!

If you are planning on moving house in the next 18 months then DO NOT SIGN UP!

They force you to sign a new 18 month contract every time you move or force you to buy yourself out of the contract!!

I am currently disputing this with the regulator.

Broadband continually cuts out, had a new socket fitted, new router, engineer reset system which recovered my speed. 1 week later- broadband continually cuts out blah blah, spend yet another hour on phone while they say no fault- just utter rubbish.

I originally signed up with the Freedom-to-Surf, ISP but they were absorbed by Talk Talk.
Some months ago, I started to get problems with losing sync on my ADSL modem, and this happened nearly everytime I picked the phone up. Talk Talk customer services said the line was absolutely fine, and it was 85% probable that the problem was with my equipment or home wiring. After many calls getting nowhere, I eventually replaced my modem/router and microfilter at significant expense. No change. Eventually they sent an Openreach engineer who confirmed it was wiring problems on the BT side of the Master Socket. After the BT engineer went away the sync problem was solved BUT I was back to dial-up speeds. More calls to customer services, and they said it would settle down in a couple of days. It didn't. More calls, and the equipment at the exchange was "manually reset". Since then I get 6Mb/s during the day, but in the evening the download speed falls off a cliff, and I cannot even stream audio without constant buffering problems. The download speed frequently falls as low as 0.5Mb/s.
Many more calls to customer services. First they blamed BT, then they blamed the fact that it was an old Freedom-to-Surf account and promised to move me to a hopefully more reliable account with 7 working days, and I would be sent new login details and password. After two weeks nothing had happened, except the service had deteriorated further, so I called customer services again, and a very brusque agent told me nothing had happened and nothing would happen unless I personally applied for a different account through their sales team, as what I had been told previously was not part of their business process. He did not seem to grasp the fact that their broadband service was faulty and it was their responsibility to sort it out! At that point I asked for my MAC code. This company are a complete shower. In my experience their attitude to customers is, quite honestly, utterly shocking.

Absolutely appalling download speeds. Even worse at peak times.
Unintelligible tech support, technicians try to help but are based in India and I've yet to talk to anyone I could understand.
Charged for BT Engineer. When faults have been intermittent. Could not and have not ever recommended Talk Talk. No option but to switch.

Their modus operandi if you have an issue with your broadband is to blame the phone company. They will pass on the issue to them, after a protracted period of checking the line. Fair play, they have sent me a new router when I needed one fairly promptly, but trying to get help from them is a real chore. The webmail service they provide is also objectionably bad, with a poor search option, general unreliability and horrible presentation. I'm also spammed by all these tabloid helplines everytime I use them.

A while back TalkTalk were 'hacked', got nuisance calls from India, TalkTalk claimed my account was not 'hacked' so it was not their fault, to avoid the possibility of being sued.
Line went active two weeks after the given date, was excited to have have broadband for £17 per month, it's currently £25.25 which is a big jump but still cheaper than the rest bar 1. You get what you pay for was never more relevant. When broadband is stable it is acceptable but, it is rarely stable, unable to connect is a very frequent frustration and calls to the service centre result in a merry go round of limited narrative. My first router had a faulty ADSL socket where I had no connection at all most of the time, the service centre did not have the narrative for this fault which they could not comprehend. Eventually I learned of the forum and you can only get your issues dealt with in the forum. It took a staggering 4 months to get my router exchanged... ... FOUR MONTHS!
When it is stable you have the wonder of dial up speeds of around 800kbps, the odd part is when you do a speed test it claims (for myself) around 5mbps which is crafty connection speed, but it ends there and 800kbps is your lot.
Streaming is OK if you let it buffer before you watch. Online gaming is also OK if you don't mind occasional disconnections and wait a long while to download your game at between 300 to 800kbps :/, if there are several users online it is definitely no better than dialup.
The lure of cheaper rates is a good incentive to join TalkTalk but, you are very quickly disappointed and very frustrated throughout the contract. My phone has been down and it has taken a week to fix by BT openreach. The service centre can tinker with your connection in India, combined with BT this is very suspicious why the service is so poor and a service engineer be offered for £85, which seems to vary apparently .
I am at present initiating a switch of service provider to free service, just have to pay for line rental, being free may make it no better than TalkTalk, but at least it won't cost me anything to be frustrated and the contract length is multi option and can move on if I am dissatisfied... ...Farewell TalkTalk, at no cost will I ever burden myself with your frustrating service again.

    TERRIBLE/// STAY AWAY.
I paid 35# a month to receive very very low speed, nowhere near 76 Mbps promised. Customer service does not exist, and they do not even record the problems. I escalated the matter to CEO, and they lied and lied, never got back to me. Their phone number does not work. Never solved the connection problem.

In December 2013 my broadband stopped working. I was told it would be fixed within 48 hours. Six weeks later it was fixed. The costs I incurred haven't been covered, despite assurances. I have been treated with incredible rudeness, and TalkTalk refuse to apologise. I have escalated this to the CEO, Dido Harding to no avail. Formal complaints are ignored. Due to the poor service I swapped to PlusNet, which I am very happy with.

Connection drops daily and for hours at a time. Very unreliable.

Their tech support is useless. Insist on going through home set up, which takes an hour or so, every time you speak to them even if you've done it an hour earlier with someone else.

They do not resolve the problem when this inevitably does not work.

Disconnecting is painful. TalkTalk attempts to coerce you into agreeing to additional terms at disconnection. They bill and charge a full month despite knowing your disconnection date - an strategy to keep hold of your money for longer.

I tried to make a complaint about this. So far, their complaints department has simply ignored my complaint points - two replies from them so far with no attempt to respond even to defend their actions.

Overall appalling. I've had 30-40% down time with no connection at all, and some of the worst customer service I have ever encountered.

Customer service is the worst ever seen, even eclipses NTL woeful service. Speed isn’t great, BB service keeps dropping out. Phone has repeatedly been cut/blocked/restricted over the contract life most of the time for no good reason. Cannot recommend Talktalk/Tiscali as others offer better service for exactly the same money.

The customer service agents are perfectly nice, however they have a script and have to stick to it, no matter what. If you escalate, the 'supervisor/manager/whatever' has to go through exactly the same script no matter the relevance. If the script doesn't fit your call, the only way to get resolution is to go through the ceo's office.

The speed into the house/router/via ethernet is just about perfect. However, what they don't tell you is that the wifi signal on the router they provide will only give you around half speed. They cite (rightly) other signals etc reducing the wifi., however my own situation, where there is nothing that could reduce the wifi signal, means that this does not stack up.
The sales agent was misinformed, assuring me that there would be no more than a couple of MB wifi drop in speed.

A visiting engineer out and out lied.
Some Talk Talk engineers and BT Engineers are pro-actively telling the customer how rubbish TalkTalk is which doesn't help create any faith in the company.

    Reliability is excellent.

This company chaotic and has the worst customer service I have ever come across. I have had no internet for 9 days now. There is no big problem. Openreach turned up saying they needed to reposition the external cable as it was lying too low. Trouble is they didn’t “reposition” it, they disconnected it and left the cable lying in my driveway. Said the only way I could get it back on was to contact Talktalk. So I did immediately and have spent hours every day since trying to contact someone at Talktalk to get it reconnected but this is proving impossible. Every single day they say it’ll be done in the next 1 to 3 days. We are now on day. NIne. This is actually making me I’ll now as I cannot work without the onterney and have no idea when, or even if, they will reconnect me. AVOID at all cost.

I just wanted to express my dissatisfaction with the talktalk customer service. Very bad experience, although I was patient and tried to understand the situation of the telephone agents as they seem without strong skill for dealing customers.

My order was made to be cancel later for 3 times as per they couldn´t find my flat and finally the did, finally when the order was proceeded correctly they transferred me to the cancellations team and then they cancel the last order instead of the first order which was incorrectly placed because the flat was wrong. what to say, Hilarious!

If talktalk has a quality team, they should be more strict with their agents.

    Some facts:
    - inexistent communication between talktalk teams (don´t know they say they make accounts notes, useless)
    - you can listen the other agents shouting to others customers
    - if the agent can´t handle your case just say I can´t hear you and ... hang up
    - although your instructions are very clear, the agents confuse all the time the directions
    - if you ask for escalating the case to their supervisor they denie it

Finally, I´m not sure how the connection is, however to be first impression the backdoor is horrible. So, I won´t recommend talk talk to anyone and absolutely I won´t hire the talktalk services.

Talk Talk, it´s time to Wake Up!!! :(

Just reading all the other reviews on here, we'll I'm not the only one that loses it after calling Talk talk customer Services, why I changed provider ?????? Wrong move, looking to save money I guess, we'll you certainly get what you pay for, cannot pick up wifi all around the house, which I was promised, just got fed up calling them, told same old shite, then they had to cheek to charge me for an engineer to come out and repair their faulty tv box, and to top it up isaid I want out, got told got to pay 140.00 quid to get out of contract, was offered another deal for twelve month, but you gust remember to call them within a time period or they just start charging you some crazy prices without even contacting you. Can't wait to leave them....especially after seeing all the reviews on here.... RANT OVER,,,,!!

    I've left TalkTalk.

After a discussion with TalkTalk, their comment in an email to me was:

"I'm pleased to let you know that on 18/03/2015 one of my colleagues had credited your account with £226.10 and £180.36 to waive off the Contract Breakage Fee and reimburse the charge for Value Line Rental respectively."

Account balance inc VAT -£221.31 CR

I was then advised to login to my account, and click on "send a cheque to me" refund button.

Ive now been trying for months to get my money back, and everytime they say I am correct, and are sending a cheque, but no cheque.... for months. Please steer clear of TalkTalk.

Words very rarely elude me but in this case I am left speechless. Because I am the executor of a deceased account holder I only had very limited intentions when calling but even cancelling and paying the final bill was an effort.

The first time I called they transferred me to the bereavement team which was an agonising 35 minute wait then eventually getting through it took 20 mins to cancel the supply.

The second call was to simply pay the price final bill which as per the precious was also a great difficulty. She of course attempted to transfer me to the bereavement team to make a payment but declined and persisted until she agreed to accept payment. Obviosuly these people don't have any listening skills as I had to repeat my name and address six times

Broadband has always been hopeless with all advisors completely unwilling to do anything about it.

Would have changed it immediately but of course a stubborn grandmother went for the cheapest option..... CHEAP FOR A Reason.

I also advise searching the free number on the Internet as the one printed on the bill is not free from a mobile.

    Please stay well clear!

I'm with Sky, an elderly friend is with Talk Talk & has been for years. She decided to join Sky after financial circumstances changed and got a cheaper and better deal. However, once she went to cancel Talk Talk, they slapped her with over £100 bill due to cancelling her contract early. Unknown to her she had signed for a 2 year TV contract 18 months ago!! Also late last year, her outside telephone line snapped at the pole in the street. BT Openreach did the repair. Talk Talk then billed her £50 for work which they said was done inside the house ! There was NO work done inside the house ! On her behalf & with her permission I contacted Talk Talk, complained about both incidents and they waived both of the charges ! (After an hour and a half on the 'phone !!) Talk Talk may be the cheapest, but you get what you pay for ! For balance - Talk Talk did apologise for the billings and said that they should not have been made. They apologised to her.

If you are thinking of using Talk Talk for Broadband; just don't.. The service in my 30 day trial was terrible; the helpline impossible to deal with. I tried their 30 trial and cancelled within the time; yet they still try and bill me for time after I cancelled; I send complaints but nothing happens.. Utterly useless company..

I have been without internet and landline for over 3 weeks. When it did work the speed was dial up which ruled out watching Netflix.I contacted the customer service several times to see if I could get a refund but that's all they wanted to do was sell me their new wi-fi hub at £60 for a service that only occasionally worked at all.I rate the customer service as appalling made worse by the fact that the guy had a poor grasp of English and a strong indian accent which was hard to understand.

I've waited a week before writing this review to try and calm down a bit. I was so angry by a number of things and I'll try and narrow them down.

Firstly, the internet connection with talk talk is slow and inconsistent, most frustratingly it often cuts out altoghter, so if your an avid gamer like me, or studying a university degree like my wife, prepare for some serious rage. I estimate that on a daily basis my internet was cutting out 5 or 6 times a day. When it was working though, it ran at about 35 MB which of course is decent. This was probably the master of my downfall however. Over the last 12 months I've wasted hours of my life speaking to foreign people who don't understand and in some cases frankly did not care. Unfortunately, the people who I spoke to are of a different culture and their customer service is some way off what I expect, particularly when I have an issue that I want resolved. The problem was that they did not understand that my internet speed was fluctuating, running dreadfully slow or cutting out, they kept saying that there was no problem and my speed was 35 mb. They would often say the fault was with me, they sometimes offered to send an engineer but threaten to charge £50+ if the fault was on our side (which we expected they would do if they came out so we refused). I spoke to so many differnet representitives, and you have to go through the same boring reigermarole everytime, giving all your details, explainin the issue at length, often I felt the people I spoke to did not understand because they would answer something completely out of context, something patronising like have you checked your leads etc. I was also hung up on by some representitives, who I think just gave up on my problem, eventually I got through to a manager, who after 55 minutes on the phone also hung up on me. I was enraged. I spoke to a different manager on another occasion, who said they needed to escalate my problem to a senior manager, they put me on hold, then when they came back on the phone, said I couldn't speak to the senior because they were in a bad mood as a customer had just hang up on them!! (yes that really did happen). Overall if you're reading this before considering becoming a customer, I strongly recommend that you don't, I am saying this as this has been the worse company that I have ever dealt with, I was treated poorly, I was promised to have my problem fixed but that never happened, and on two occasions I'd been promised to receive a call back and that never happened. I was given no compensation, and I paid for a service that simply does not work. I had been advised when buying fibre with them that it was super fast, but when I had problems I was told to switch devices off in my home so I only have two or three wireless devices on at any given time (I was under the impression that Fibre Optics was supposed to be able to handle multiple devices) and I was advised to buy two £50 boosters, for a fibre optics device and I live in a small two bedroom semi house. If you already a Talk Talk customer, my advice is to speak to them on the keyboard over the internet, if you Google talk talk complains there is a way of doing this. I did this and had a saved transcript of our conversation, which I eventually used to leave talk talk for free without paying a leaving fine. Absolutely dreadful experience, going to go with BT now.

I appear to have made a terrible mistake moving to TALKTALK!
I moved to TALKTALK in June 2014. Although I was with AOL, my provider was BT, it was slow (4mb/s) but reliable, with few disconnections from 2005. I was persuaded to change to TT because the combined cost of phone and broadband was cheaper than BT, although, since TT had taken over AOL internet, it also seemed sensible to be with that supplier.
I started to have intermittent internet problems about 3 weeks after I started with TT. I phoned the company and was asked a number of questions about my setup. I explained that only the modem and ISP have changed. Naturally, I went along with the questions and after they completed their tests, each time, my internet came back on. After a time it would go back off, usually in the morning, although my computer showed I was still connected to TT. I would phone the free landline number 08704441820, again after an unusual conversation with someone from Delhi, the internet light would appear on my modem, without any interaction from me, and I would be back online. Over a number of phone calls it became obvious that it was the provider that was causing the problem and not my set up. How would it be possible to regain internet connection when I had done nothing? I must assume this will continue until the end of my contract.

So, unless you wish to waste time, money and effort with a useless company, stay away from TALKTALK.

Awful. Was told that if an engineer came out and they couldn't fix the problem then I wouldn't have to pay any cancellation fee. An engineer came, couldn't fix it, and Talktalk continued to take the money out of my account regardless. Have complained multiple times and they are refusing to refund me, so will be taking legal action! I advise people to stay well clear of this company!

Have complained multiple times and they are refusing to refund me, but whats more, they had the audacity to call me a liar and said that an engineer hadn't been out. So will be taking legal action! I advise people to stay well clear of this company!

I must say that I've not had to contact customer services very much, however on the last 2 occasions I felt that I had been threatened. The first time was when I was experiencing a serious illness and going through treatment. The second time was the weekend before last when I found out that people were not able to ring in. When I contacted Talktalk I felt that I was being shouted at and I felt extremely humiliated and frustrated. The advisor after more than an hour agreed to send an engineer free of charge. The engineer I spoke to was lovely and I explained that my issue had spontaneously been resolved so he said it was an outside issue!! I have been with Talktalk for more than 15 years, however my treatment has ensured that I will be leaving them when my contract ends in the near future. If you choose this company please take into account all the reviews on this site!

I have only had to contact TalkTalk 3 times in the last 4 years and every time they have been fantastic!!!
Most recently our router broke. I called the call centre at 930 on a Friday night at got through to the delightful Lisa. She was very professional and incredibly helpful. Less than 2 working days later we have a new router and are connected to the world again! Thank you for providing such an excellent service. And please pass my thanks on to Lisa!!

We have been with Talk Talk for quite a few years. Only ever had one problem with out broadband, it turned out to be a broken cable out side our house. We contacted Talk Talk and received a text 4 hours later to say the problem was resolved. Brilliant customer services. We always had a close enough to the speed promised. 2 Years ago we upgraded to their fibre package. Simple and relatively fast process. although an engineer must attend, they wouldn't just send me the router etc. No problem though as the BT engineer turned up did his thing, even rewired the connection in the house to make sure it was decent cable etc. advertised speed is up to 38mbps, I haven't seen it drop below 33mbps since we have had it.

Best service I have had from a communications provider by far. Highly recommended and my family are slowly moving across to Talk Talk as well.
