An appalling service who choose to prioritise their money flow over their customers. Over the course of the past two months I have been charged a gargantuan £40 each month compared to the usual £8 and when I enquired about this via their telephone service they simply dodge the question and go as long as possible to retain their undeserved money and don't even look at the problem from the customer's perspective. Considering that I have been a customer for years I am absolutely appalled by how they treated me and their attempt to combat the problem by saying they'll give me a small tiny fraction back only highlights this ridiculous company, their shambolic customer service and their total ignorance of customer loyalty. I will be parting service from the buffoons and transfer to another service provider because to be quite frankly honest I have no idea how I have lasted this long with garbage company.

Seems that every time I ring up to complain about my slow connection speeds, they magically speed up again, for about 2 weeks. Then the cycle repeats.

Ordered new service on 30th June 2015 for advertised Fibre Plus as it was available in postcode. obviously I was aware BT Openreach would have to do line which was booked 10 days later. Happy so far. then received notification that BT needed to survey. House had a telephone line before we bought it. then nothing since unless I call talk talk. every week I call then and no one is able to update me on progress. 24th August is the latest date...over 50 days have passed. If not on 24th then I will dump them. useless

I have had talk talk for many years and it is the worst ever! It is so bad I can only get a decent connection in only 2 rooms of my house so I can't use the internet any where else in my house. Also if three people are all in there phones using the internet it can't handle it and will load up anything. You get less than what you pay for. DO NOT GET TALKTALK

Its quite ironic that this companies name is talk talk,it sort off gives you the impression that the are good at communication, I left Virgin media (I'm a complete idiot) whom I have been a customer for around 15 years. I was mainly drawn in by the low package deals, all went wrong more or less straight away , the engineer who installed the phone line damage my property installing the line, every time I ring talk talk to log a complaint to fix the problem they explain it isn't there issue as they use an outside contractor (open reach) to do the installation (wiped there hands with it), been past from pillar to post for around 14 days, still with no resolution.
Internet is none existent rang up to see if I could get some help and I was told this is the best your are going to get.
Customer service is completely awful, put you on hold several times and then the phone line goes dead or they hang up on you phone and you then have to start the whole process again.
Rang up today to cancel the contract we are on the 14th day of the cooling off period (I have been with Talk Talk a maxim of 14 days) and I was told if I paid £400.00 pounds I would be able to cancel my account, Ha Ha Ha I could cry absolute nightmare.
I have spent hours on the phone trying to resolve this but absolutely useless, no customer service, no broadband and no flipping clue

Shockingly abismal service! Customer services are obviously all over the world - very seldom get to speak to anyone remotely understandable! Further, constantly given inaccurate information, then further, conflicting yet still, inaccurate information! Website utterly useless - leads you to believe tasks are accomplished when in fact they are not! After 6 weeks, I'm changing providers!! The worst service I've ever encountered! Stunned its possible to be so ineffective!

Poor customer service, lines often engaged so can't even get through to complaints department and although they offer to 'phone you within 24 hours do not.
Using their webmail a joke as frequently not accessible due to talktalk difficulies or 'planned maintenance' which lasts for hours. Looking forward to end of contract so can leave company

Absolutely disgraceful. I joined Talk Talk this year in April. I have received nothing but nuisance calls up to 12 a day where the other end of line just cuts off when answered. Broadband upload and download speeds are awful yet shows on their speed check all okay. My test shows 20 instead of 60 that i signed up for..

DO NOT give talk talk you number if you make an enquiry or you will be harrased. 12 calls from 1 number in 24 hours, when I blocked this number they used another number. Also thier phone system crackles so badly you cannot. hear what they are saying. Even their online healper will try to persuade you to sign up there and then if you wish to clarify anything. Worst pressure sales I have ever encountered.

Even one star is too good for talk talk.
I was referred to talk talk by a friend and from first contact up till now it has been a disaster. The customer service is so appalling and NOTHING is straight fwd.
First they wanted to charge £50 to send an engineer out, then they said we would wave it for you and send the engineer anyway.
On the 'go live' day there was no engineer or call or email advising whether or not one will be sent out. I called talk talk got transferred to a call centre in Asia and was told "oh you don't need an engineer"
I followed all instructions to the teeth however there was an error message each time I tried to log on to the Internet and the ADSL Light which apparently should be on was off.

I called talk talk again( from my mobile) and was on th phone with them for 1hour and 7 minutes. The adviser was unhelpful, kept putting me on hold and giving me confusing information. He ran some tests on the line and asked me to open the BT BOX on the wall. I tried and didn't succeed as I didn't have the proper tools. He eventually decided that they would need to send an engineer out to me! Imagine my frustration after waiting two weeks for Internet? The day comes, you decide I don't need an engineer and now there is an issue you decide I need one. And I have to wait an extra week for one to be sent out.

I agreed to that and it was agreed I would get an engineer on Thursday the 20th of August ( please note I called to set up with them on the 30th of July) on that Thursday I waited and heard nothing so I called again and was told there was no engineer booked and the manager I spoke to the Friday before left a note on the system saying as I couldn't open the BT box on the wall, the checks were not completed and she couldn't send an engineer! I am in total shock I have never dealt with a company or service provider as fraudulent and incompetent and unprofessional as talk talk. I then asked to cancel as there is still no internet at the property and clearly no reasonable action to provide it. They had the audacity to send me an email saying because I am cancelling from a contract I have £180 left to pay.

Please as an appeal if you have experienced a similar torture from talk talj join me in raising our voices so that people are aware and don't make the mistake of joining them. They should be shut down or sold off to providers who can manage it properly.

I wish I had never signed up to talk talk.do not go here, their customer service is beyond disgusting .
They give false hop false promises and lies
They took my money 11 days ago now and still I am not connected . They say it takes 5-10 working days to hit my account from receiving my payment by card over the phone .have put in a complaint to their complaints officer, but quite frankly he has not helped and refuses to give me any compensation for having had no service now for 11 days. Today he informed me it could be a further 5 days until I am connected and still refuses any compensation.
Keep well clear if this dreadful company

I would like to add my voice to the ranks of disgruntled talktalk customers.

It disheartens me in a way because I until this year was fairly happy with their service.

Read on if you want to know exactly why NOT to sign up to talktalk.

I have been with talktalk since 2006 and until February 18th this year 2015 it was OK. Good speeds... In 2010 for example I was getting download speeds of up to 16 to 20 megabits per second.
Never really had any reason to call the helplines or call centres, very rarely did so.

My problems really began in October 2014 when I went to renew the service and they persuaded me to go for the TV package etc. as it would be cheaper and with various half price options it would work out cheaper. Anyway after making the point that I didn’t have a TV or would not be using this service they assured me that … take it anyway and you’ll qualify for a reduced rental even if you never use it. I before a made a verbal agreement added that “I agree with the proviso as long as what you say is correct”. They do record they conversations so you can prove it if you go via the Subject data access request legislation. So I went for it.

Anyway just before February I get a letter through the post saying that they had made a mistake with the pricing for a number of customers and that we (I) owed them an additional £50 which they would take by £10 per month over the next few months. At this point I jumped into gear and phoned them to say I would not pay them and that I was assured that this was all part of a deal whether or not I used the TV package (which I never have and never will do and told them so before agreeing).

I reminded them of the subject data access legislation and that I’d specifically added in the words subject to it being as they promised before agreeing to their verbal contract. To cut to the chase they agreed to wipe out the £50 extra charge. And I had to make sure by taking the name of the person who agreed this and a reference number. (I thought it wise as they clearly reneged on the original agreement)

Again it wasn’t as clear cut as first mentioned… I had to keep phoning each month to make sure they hadn’t taken £10, which they did keep doing probably by incompetence rather than design. I did get this refunded I add, but why should I have this hassle with their mistakes.

Now with most of the call centres in Mumbai I realised what the internet blogs were moaning about. And to be fair though some of these people do actually try and help but it often isn’t realistic considering the distance away and the culture differences & language nuances which they simply don’t twig. (Now that phrase would perplex most of them) Same with us … I remember a lady asked me a security question for my first pit.
And I thought what is she on about. So I asked again and she first pit… I said pit? Your dog your cat your pit… ah pet!

Benny Hill would have laughed too and done a comedy routine from this gem.

The problems were not confined to this however. Firstly the new online billing went from a fairly straightforward easy to understand format to a new design featuring a complex set of discounts obscure charges and tariffs which essentially was designed to confuse. You would have to have a Cambridge university degree in maths to understand these.

Withstanding all that I tolerated it but the next talktalk event was to change that. Come one evening in February whilst I was on the net looking my bank details suddenly the internet went offline and I went to the phone and that too was dead, the next day, still dead, no sound, no net, nothing.

I used my mobile to phone my family and a get talktalk contact number which isn’t 0870 so as I can phone talktalk via mobile.

Anyway the talktalk operator did try and help and within an hour a BT openreach engineer came round and checked my phone setup. He then went up the road to a junction box & after 40 minutes or so got the internet on but not the phone. Anyway after faffing around with his mobile to BT’s exchange he eventually gets my phone going. But it isn’t the same, it is noisy and the internet seems slower but the BT engineer says it will settle down in 24 hours…. Well it didn’t; it is now August and I have had enough.
I have phoned 2 or 3 times a week and sometimes a day since February..

I’ve had enough of phoning through to talktalk the same old script of a Indian guy or woman in Pakistan or India telling me put a new micro filter on, turn modem off for 10 seconds. Etc. Their line of attack is to try and scare you with the notion that it is some item of your computer equipment that is faulty rather than admit it is their supply line of they will do that if you don’t prove otherwise and it is another hefty charge.

I reiterated I had already one of their engineers call. A Polish talktalk engineer came round to the property, seen that I’ve got 2 computers, 2 telephones, 15 Ethernet cables, 2 routers one of which is theirs, 20 microfilters from companies including BT some never used in packets. And before they could try and insinuate it’s my power supply … a UPS (uninterruptable power supply). I told him to arrange it in any order he wished and show me how it was my equipment that was faulty.
He had to agree that the “fault” was somewhere on their circuit rather than mine.

I claim breach of contract because they have failed to deliver a service that was promised and it is unfit for purpose especially if the TV package was supposed to work. This service as it stands can’t hold up email properly let alone iplayer downloads etc.

Now are these events connected? … I don’t know for sure but it does seem a bit of a coincidence particularly when I was a satisfied customer for 9 years…. My service now is much the same as described on here by other customers. I suspect this so-called fibre broadband what they’re flogging now I had, and probably I was on the fibre feed and they or BT have switched my line over to someone else and I’ve the rubbish line they had.

Well I will move from these and give the post office for phones a try on the monthly contract and for internet it will be plusnet for the same type of monthly contract if possible. Or I will disconnect the home phone and go to three network payg and use my 321 plan for internet. It works btw…..

Talktalk are now giving a poor supply service and using tactics like obscure and obfuscated billing. Disjointed customer call centres with no proper logging of your complaint records. Sales tactics of promising all wonder of discounts and assuring it is all proper and there will nothing more to pay … only to find they a few months later they do change it. And it is difficult to prove unless you too record the calls... you can use subject access requests but most customers do not know this.

Paying in advance by credit card can sometimes help but they make this difficult to do. Finally when you do complain of slow speeds, slow internet and downloads they try and imply it is your equipment that is at fault and scare you with the £65 plus charge if it is( which in some cases it can be) but I suspect they use this if you cannot prove it isn’t.
They seem to do this even when they know it is their supply that is faulty rather than accept there is no fault of the customer.

Talktalk .. the writing is on the wall … go anywhere but there.

Well Talk Talk, the customer service is laughable and that is being polite. I signed upto talk talk on a 12 month contract and I notified them I wanted to cancel approximately 50 days before. However, I was told that I would need to cancel 30 days before the contract ends,I called to cancel again on 4th July so the contract should have been cancelled on 4th August. I called again as I noticed the internet was still active and much to my surprise they told me I did not cancel the contract and said it would now cancel on 4th september and I will need to pay for the month. I could not believe it was such a nightmare just to cancel a contract that should have been finished on 30 July

Talk talk are dishonest . If you have a complaint don't deal with it verbally they deny what they have agreed and try to take money you do not owe. If you speak to someone on chat . Save the conversation as otherwise they deny that it has taken place. Do not trust them. They change your contract without telling you so you incur charges that were free and then they are not with no notice. I would not recommend them to anyone

I had used AOL and talk talk telephone line and broadband for 10 years, gradually the Internet connection got worse and worse until it was pretty much not working 24/7. I switched to Virgin media in May 2015 which I cannot fault at all and called AOL to cancel my contract. Since AOL and talk talk have merged company, I called my bank to stop any payments from AOL being taken from my account, but soon realised monthly payments were being taken out from talk talk instead. When I called to ask for a refund of the money they had been taking for a service I had called and cancelled they called me a liar and said that I had never called to cancel and that they would not refund me any money. Very very rude customer service and awful broadband- I would not recommend! Virgin media I cannot fault, If you are looking for a reliable service they are the provider for you!

Extremely dissatisfied with talktalk after receiving a data usage charge of £84.10 this was on a mobile phone which was apparently using wifi at home but talk talk seem think it ok just to switch off the wifi so you are using data when you think you are using wifi they suspended the service for data texts and phone calls not just the data not only that they also suspended my other mobile phone number for data texts and calls when this was well within limits and had nothing to do with the problem
My wife queried the bill and was threatened with debt collectors even though we did not refuse to pay the bill just asked for a breakdown
The broadband service is usually unreliable often requiring a reboot of the router
Talk talk have in the last 6 months got worse with the attractive budget line rental no longer being worth it as you pay up front for a year so don't tie yourself in

Talk talk now charge for day time local calls which were once free
I cannot wait to ditch this bunch of thieves so do not sign up for any contract sit

I don't usually go out of my way to leave bad reviews but TalkTalk are the worst company I've ever dealt with. All they care about is having your money.

Talk Talk has quite possibly the worst customer service I have ever had to deal with.. Shoddy service all round and after being baited into renewing our contract the Internet stops and after 90 minutes of being on the phone with talk talk the verdict was that I'm just to turn my router off and call back in 20 more minutes.. After a further 45 minutes the next step is to leave my router turned off for another 24 hours..
Overall pathetic service and regretting joinong talk talk massively

THE WORST COMPANY TO GO WITH BY FAR! PLEASE SAVE YOURSELF AND RUN. RUN AS FAR AWAY FROM TALKTALK AS YOU CAN. "AWFUL" CUSTOMER SERVICE DOESNT EVEN DO IT JUSTICE. I ACTUALLY FEEL SO ANGRY AFTER SPEAKING TO THEM. THEY MADE ME CRY AFTER BEING ON THE PHONE FOR FOUR AND A HALF HOURS TRYING TO CANCEL AT THE BEGINNING- BEFORE THEY EVEN SORTED MY INTERNET!!- TELLING ME, 'NO, YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO CANCEL...YOU MUST GIVE US MORE TIME ( I had already given them three weeks to fix my problem) AND YOU CANNOT LEAVE. WHAT???? THEY TRAPPED ME INTO STAYING IN THEIR TERRIBLE PACKAGE. SERIOUSLY. RUN.

Moved back in with my parents post university life, after using Virgin Media for the last 3 years (who have been excellent) who use TalkTalk and have to say everything about them is completely dreadful. I regularly use the internet to stream simple things like Youtube or Netflix when i get home from work, and even though I'm the only one using a computer the internet still struggles to meet the requirements. The speeds are absolutely terrible, the only time they actually hit anything like the advertised 8MB is when i ring up and inform them how their internet is struggling to buffer a 15 minute video on Youtube. Having gone from another cheap alternative in Virgin who were very good, cannot believe how the standard has dropped so massively even with the price being relatively similar, horrendous. The customer service advisors on the phone are like robots plugged in they read nothing but scripts so cannot offer real world solutions to why their product is so poor, and using a call centre based in foreign countries always leads to poor customer service reviews, this is why.
We will be changing providers soon, cannot believe how and they are, good for people that use the internet once a day to check their emails, bad for everyone else. AVOID.

The most horrific company!! I signed up for Talk Talk about a year ago but recently moved home, so I informed them by changing my address and without my knowledge they signed me up for a further 18 months. Now I have decided to switch to sky, have said I'm liable to pay a £200 exit fee!!Surely that's not right??

I've been with TalkTalk for one week and they'd constantly caused problems in this short time. They've changed the date my services are being switched on TWICE and today is the day they told me they would be on and nothing has been turned on! I called customer services that told me to redo the home checks over and over again. They're terrible and shall be cancelling me contract
