Worst company I have ever dealt with. They installed the wrong wall socket and the wrong equipment for the services I had contracted at an extra charge. I have written to them and phoned them several times over many months with no success. They normally don't replay to emails and talking on the phone is a waste of time. You can expect to be passed to another adviser, then another, then another, and so on until either the line breaks or you have to hang up in frustration after 1 or 2 hours. I have left them now, and I'll never come back to them, not even if they offered broadband for free. Broadband companies are not known for being efficient, but this one is the worst of all by far.

This has to be the worst company I have ever had the misfortune to deal with. At least 9 fruitless calls to useless call centres staffed by employees who know little and care less leaving me utterly frustrated. I will never have anything to do with them again. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!

Never had particularly fast speeds with Talk Talk but several weeks ago our broadband started randomly going off every few minutes. After doing all the tests online and checking our equipment still couldn't fix the problem so we called Talk Talk.
And thus began several painful weeks of calling pretty much every night to try and resolve the problem, Every single time we were made to do the same tests only to be told that our broadband was working fine.

Erm, Ok then, so why is my internet off then.
Eventually Talk Talk decided to do us the honour of sending an engineer out who agreed that, Yes, Our Broadband was indeed buggered and that it would promptly sorted out, It would require another home visit then all would be well.
Only Talk Talk had no intention of actually sorting this out, After waiting 3 days to hear from them to arrange another engineer visit, I got fed up of waiting and contacted them myself. They tried to make me do all the tests again, No I said, We have established the problem lies with you, Now when do you intend to come and fix our broadband.
Its been fixed, I was told, Your broadband is working now. Even though it wasn't.
I promptly hang up the phone and immediately switched providers, Unwilling to have any further dealings with these incompetent morons. Talk Talk are more than happy to steal your money month after month but not so happy to provide you with a decent service. It's a shame they weren't more willing to try and resolve this problem, They obviously regard their customers with contempt, Lord knows why though as we are the people who keep them in business, Until we get fed up of being fobbed off that is.
I tell everybody I know who is considering switching their isp in no uncertain terms to avoid Talk Talk if you actually want broadband that works, I realise things go wrong sometimes but Talk Talk absolutely do not want to resolve your problems should you encounter any.
All that's left now is for me to check that they didn't have the cheek to charge me for the engineer appointment ( The engineer, In their defence, Was fantastic, Polite and discovered the problem then reported back to them) They just chose not to help us any further after that and to continue denying that a problem exists.
I don't pay £22 a month to them out of the goodness of my heart, I pay for a service I want to receive. Sadly Talk Talk don't understand that.
I shall also be demanding refunds for the hours of wasted phone calls to them in a vain attempt to get back online properly and also checking my bank statements as I have a suspicion they will continue to try and take money from me even when we are no longer with them.

This is truthfully the most abismal piece of tripe on the market. I'm having to type this review on my phone as the WiFi simply does not work. Utterly abismal and I would give 0 stars if the option was there. Save yourself and go someplace else.

My contract with TalkTalk after 2yrs has ended, I have notified them within the 30 day period at least 9xtimes, they have totally ignored me, and I wonder why. Yes I was right, they responded on the phone by telling me I was in a new 2yr contract because I fail to notify them. Recently I phoned again to confirm the end of my contract, as soon as I mention it they cut me off 3times. Still Im off to the states for 3yrs. bye UK and BYe Talktalk, you are a con and your customer service is the worst.

Terrible company, terrible customer service. Connection was very slow and intermittent, router wifi signal was not good. Tried to cancel my policy despite now being out of contract and they're hitting me with all kinds of charges. Lesson learnt, will never use these guys again.

I don't do online reviews but this one is an exception. The WORST and most CRASS customer service I have ever had the opportunity to deal with. If you provide wrong address information and your service is not live yet, there is no way it can be changed. Best is to switch to a new provider. In case you want to change your email with them and the service is not live yet, you CANNOT do that. I have 2 emails that I provided to Talktalk - both regarding other services. Since I had to cancel both these services, I had no other email to provide them with. The customer service representative MADE UP an email address at talktalk.net that had the wrong password or name associated with and cannot be used. Now, since my service is not live yet (and it's not going to be live for another 1 month), I am left without any email notification from them. DO NOT TRUST ANYBODY there unless you have your contract written down and sent in email. HATE, HATE, HATE their customer service!

DO NOT even consider subscribing to talk talk whether it is for personal - or especially if it's for business.

They are dire on so many levels - to start with, the speed test reports 0.52 Mbps and the smart TV cannot cope to play a standard (non-HD) video.

    PATHETIC!

Just about acceptable until you get a problem then try to contact Customer Services........Must be in Mumbai or similar because those I spoke to could barely speak English and I had to explain the problem time and time again .......then they ''booked'' an engineer to call (some hours after the problem occurred)..... I received the call lasting all of two seconds before he or she hung up .....could not even reach for the phone in time.........have now solved my problem on my own and will be leaving Talk Talk at the earliest opportunity for a service with an ENGLISH call centre and a much better website!

Was with AOL since 1998 until May 2015, AOL customer service was excellent until Talk Talk took them over then the disconnections from the internet several times per week and had to power off/on the router. When my account was finally transferred to Talk Talk and as I had broadband only contacted them to enquire when my contract ends that could I continue on broadband only, the answer I got was why don't I change the phone account to them when I said no they replied saying that I could not just have broadband only. I then asked for the MAC code and just had delays and excuses why I could not get it, I finally got the code and went to BT who have had the phone with and would not move. Since I changed to BT have better down/up speeds on the ADSL and no problems like I had with Talktalk.

The English language struggles to describe just how abysmal TalkTalk are.
Strictly speaking, it is difficult to rate them as an "Internet Service Provider", since they neither provide any sort of reliable internet connection, nor anything that could be described as "service".

Internet speeds on the rare occasion that you can get an acceptable connection (basically if no-one within a 2 mile radius is using their internet) are not too bad, around 6 Mbps, but if you plan on using the internet during peak times then this drops to around 0.1Mbps, not far off dial-up speeds in rural communities in the early 1990's.

TalkTalk appear not to have a "customer services department", rather they have opted for a "pushy sales department", who will phone uninvited to offer you more stuff that doesn't work. After asking for an email as to when my contract would be up and I could finally escape this purgatory, around 7 phone calls later they eventually sent me it. Sadly I still have 7 months to go.

Their "Now TV" box which they were advertising is actually nothing more than a glorified iPlayer aggregater, and doesn't let you record series or any TV which happens not to be available on iPlayer. As such, the TV package is entirely useless, and you would get significantly more entertainment using the £5 a month to go to the cinema once a month.

Telephone line is fine, but for some reason the caller ID feature never works.

All in all they provide a cheap service, but you are actually paying a lot for what you get. Do yourself a favour and look elsewhere.

I encountered 2 big issues with Talktalk. For the first one, they have withdrawn money on my bank account by error and I struggled for 3 months to have cash back. I called them and they promised me several times they will send me back cash back and finally didn't send me anything, it is just awful. The second issue is, no broadband at home for 2 months ! It stopped working without any reason. The customer service is a nightmare , I struggled for 2 months for the BT line to be fixed ! Moreover, I needed to call several times for several hours, what a waste of time and money ! Moreover, it appears the staff doesn't communicate sometimes or write down the customer issue, there is no follow-up so I've been obliged to repeat the story several times ! It is a company but how can it survive with such a lack of organization! I do not recommend !!

Well every ISP I viewed seems to have bad reviews. It is only that if something you dont like is when people speak up. To be honest I was with sky and they were the worst. Moved to Talk talk. so far so good. Speed bettercthan sky. no outage and now upgraded to fibre. Good service so far and lots of offers. Cheaper than Virgin and they matched their offer. No Tivo hub but generally they do the dirty work of switching. Virgin wanted me to do all the work. I have not seen bad service hence 4 stars. will come back after the connection done for the fibre

They say there sending engineers out and don't then when you ring to see what's going on your passed from department to department and on the phone for an hour minimum . Never use them

I have always said that the actual broadband services that TalkTalk provide are fine (but then they would be, they're just piggybacking off BT's lines.) However, their customer service is the most appalling service I have ever encountered.
This is the first time I've ever made a complaint. The way I feel my account has been handled and the way I've been treated is just not acceptable.

I moved house and because I was tied in to their pesky 18month contract, I had to take TalkTalk 'services' with me to my new home. I did this through their website (mainly to avoid the inevitable frustration of calling them,) which appeared to be a success. Until about 1 week prior to the services being moved over to my new address, I received a text message saying 'we're sorry to hear you're cancelling your order' with no explanation.

It was at this point I wish I had left it be, left them after this error, breaking the contract n' all. But no, I called them immediately to figure out why I had received this.
Sure enough, the switch to my new address had been cancelled due to a 'technical glitch.' This technical glitch cancelled my entire account, meaning I had set up a whole new one - this process taking a good 45 mins on the phone, constantly answering the same questions, being put on hold and at times, being cut off completely. After informing me that the switch would be simple and no engineer would need to come to my house, they then said that actually they would need to come to my home, and someone needed to be there. This meant I needed to book time off work, which was a real pain.

Eventually, the TV and internet was installed, although for about 2 and a half weeks I was paying for a service I wasn't getting.
When my first direct debit was taken I discovered that I'd been charged £196.69 for apparently breaking the contract and not returning their equipment - eventhough they knew I had taken it all to my new address.
I called them to try and rectify this, however they were unable to do anything because their systems were down and to call back in 24 hours! It was at this point I requested to make a formal complaint, which I learned would take 24 hours for a call back. - A call back I never received.

I had to call them again to chase the refund and to make another formal complaint. I am still waiting for the money to be returned to my account, and if I don't get it in the next 5 days I'm complaining to Offcom. Like most big companies they're very quick to take your money but giving it back to you is painfully long drawn out affair.

They truly are the most awful company I've ever had to deal with. They may seem cheap and cheerful - but if anything goes wrong (and it almost definitely will,) expect frustratingly terrible customer service that YOU will have to chase up yourself. An effort I really don't feel is worth it.

We switched to TalkTalk from Virgin due to their ever-increasing rates and poor reliability. To be fair, TalkTalk has to be the single worst service proivider we have ever had. Customer service is a joke, the router loses connectivity constantly, and we have to reset the entire system (tele, broadband) 2 - 3 times per week, every week. If you check your system online with themn, it will say @everything is working fine@ while you watch the browswer pop up "you are disconnected". Awful.

I have been with Talk Talk for years and would expect a prompt customer loyalty service but NO!I struggling financially and had to call to cut down some of my package add ons to have an affordable bill. I opted to pay for the £4.50 admin fee monthly so as to avoid the direct debit charges if the payment does not go through. I found out Talk talk suddenly added a £10 fee they dubbed'late payment fee'. My bill is now higher than what is should be and I cannot even afford the payments when due so I am stuck in a rat race of £10 extra to my bill every month. I have made several calls to get that charge removed but no headway made.I am being tossed from one service desks in India to Indonesia help desks. I am absolutely livid with rage.

By far the worst phone company i have ever had to deal with. Infact just make that worst company ever. After them 'losing' 4 payments i had made they sent a 'final demand' letter. I then called them for the 63rd time this month to be passed from person to person then on hold for 23 minutes to then be hung up on. When i called back i got told i couldn't be transferred back to manager as i hadn't paid my bill? ALL I HAVE DONE IS GIVE THIS BLOODY COMPANY MONEY!!! I then called back after trying to calm myself down to be hung up on again. They have left me with no phone connection or broadband. I will not be calling them again. Going to disconnect everytging and find a new company. I will happily take talktalk to court so i can get my payments back they have 'lost'. Also when i asked if my calls are recorded when i call them i have had mixed answers?! It is illegal to record a call without warning the customer at the very start of conversation. If you are thinking of going with this company as they have managed to wind you into all their bull lies..DONT. You will regret it instantly and be left with no phone or internet. Shambles of a company.

As somebody else did, no stars.
    TT customer support is terrible!!
Nearly 4 weeks now with no broadband. All it needs is for openreach to sort the problem but TT would rather waste time sending new routers or passing the problem to their network engineers than pass to openreach. Can only assume it costs them money they don't want to spend. Long term custom means nothing to them. I cant emphasise enough how useless talktalk are. As many people have said, do not go anywhere near them, for one am not staying with them.....I'll be off soonest to one of the others. Everything they do is designed to protect them. Support cannot email customers just in case they commit to something they wouldn't like to do so they want no records other then their own recordings which I have heard mysteriously disappear when it supports the customer! Likewise you cannot email them as it would mean you would have a record of their reply and all their lies etc.
Don't touch them with a barge pole or indeed anyone else's barge pole!!

Four weeks ago(24th, August), I have contacted Talktalk to apply for a new broadband and phone line package, and it seemed everything is fine, Talktalk promised that the engineer will be arranged to setup the new phone line tomorrow(24th, September). However, today(23rd, Sept) I received a message from talktalk, said that my order with talktalk was cancelled because they could not get contact with me. I am really surprised because I have not received anything, even a call, a message or an email before receiving this message. When calling their customer service, a lady said this is the system problem who automatically cancell the order, and they can do nothing with it, And ask me to reapply a new order and the time for setup phone line will be at least two weeks later. What a poor customer service! I have ever used talktalk for many years before and the service was fine, but now absolutely rubbish! I will use other provider's deal, not talktalk anymore!

Very disappointing service, customer service likes to go round in circles repeat and contradicting themselves.Tells you one thing then the next say something completely different. Been on all day just trying to get a straight answer. More bothered about charges, than to give good custom/service. Will charge us £240 to get out of our contract of not receiving the service that they are not providing.very disappoint company. Money making.BEWARE!

I've had 3 engineers coming to my flat - saying I will have internet in 24-48 hrs (Its been 1.5 months(!!) Longest 48 hrs I have ever experienced). TalkTalk have also sent 3 other engineers to fix the box outside the property...supposedly. In total I have had 6 engineers trying to set up my internet! I think I have called TalkTalk nearly everyday now for a months time but still no sign of internet. Customer service is not escalating the problem to anyone- be prepared to repeat yourself daily when you call them. It is just a rip - off ! BIG WARNING- SPARE YOURSELF THE HEADACHE. You are better off paying the extra 5 quid to sign up with another provider

When I tried to upgrade from basic to Fibre I was connected to the wrong junction box, over 1 month period they firstly insisted I was connected to fibre when not, then sent engineer who confirmed I was wrongly connected did not correct problem, then wanted to send another engineer although they knew the problem, finally said they would cancel order & reorder to correct mistake but did not correct to fibre just put me back to basic. Each phone call I made to complain & request fibre I ordered led to incompetent operators telling me I had to be at home for engineer calls, missed appintments or wrong dates given more days waiting while they messed with the line their end. Total incompetence. When my original contract expires Im looking to swap & good riddence to talk talk.

What an absolute joke! Have recently joined and since joining have had no internet service. Eventually got an English speaking engineer to come out ad fix the line, but now I've been charged for the whole time I have had no service from them, to add to the issues I have rung to discuss a refund they said that they weren't going to refund all the days the service was not available, after a 32 mins phone call waiting to be put through to a manager (which never happened) I rang off and called again, to be told that I would need to call back as their systems were down - laughable! The advisors are rude, do not understand English and very few can speak good quality English to fully understand the problems their customer base are experiencing - no wonder they don't have a very good reputation, and worst of all they don't care either.

Throttle your speed. Fine after before 5pm and after 11pm but speeds under 1mb inbetween. Great if you're on shifts but not much use to me! Complaints will try to upsell fibre rather than care about the rubbish service provided!

    Avoid, Avoid, Avoid!

Worst company iv ever dealt with. Only been with them 2 months and moving already. Broadband cuts out constantly and I need to reset the router 3/4 times a day. Yet they claim there's no issue. Speed is slow when its connected (was promised up to 76 like I got with bt , yet its never gone above 40)

Then I get a letter 2 days ago saying they are increasing the charges on phoneline and broadband.

I have cancelled but they are trying to charge me nearly £400. They can sing for it.

absolutely, ridiculous company, the customer service have no idea what they are doing, after changing provider after being with them over 3 years, they constantly told me over 3 days and 10 agents that I needed to speak to them as they have not contacted TT to tell them they have taken over, I written my 30 day notice letter which after 2 weeks they conveniently have not received so my cancellation date will be today, so another months money to pay, all the money they are making why not spend on some training with employees who want to help not just sat there like a robot. the customer is left to do all the running around trying to resolve the issue , should receive some of there wages !!! oh and its still not been resolved, but I totally give up, appalling appalling appalling. stay clear,

Please see this message as a warning, leave Talk Talk as soon as possilble. This is bar far the worst company I have ever dealt with. I made a costly mistake signing up with them and encourage everyone to avoid them.

I was with TT for a year at my flat when I moved I set up a new deal with them. They convinced me to take a TV package as it was free with the internet deal (first mistake). I had talk talk for a year and then got mobilsed and had to go and work abroad. I phoned talk expecting there to be some early redemption charge (I am breaking the contract understandable). They told me the cost would be £185+ (June 2015), this was more than just allowing the contract to expire. I decided to let this run out and cancel in December 2015. I then get a debit from my account for £82.49 (July 2015), I phoned talk talk and apparently my contract has been cancelled, I told them I never told them to do this but if this was all I had to pay I am happy to leave it cancelled. They agreed this and I thought that was the end of it.

I then get a request for £75 with no explaintation. I ring TT they said its for not returning the TV box that I didn't want or use. I told them its in storage I am not back in the UK unti December. I pay £75 a week later after I have spoken to Talk Talk (I am working somewhere quite remote internet access is infrequent). I never remember being told about the £75 fee and the women I spoke to when TT cancelled my contract never mentioned it. Otherwise I would have let my contract expire in december and sent the tv box off then.

To top it off TT send me a bill for £10 due to my payment being a week late for the £75. I am hoping this is the end of it but very much doubt it. I just want them to stop asking me for money now.

I have struggle with customer service, been given wrong information, paid fortunes to phone from abroad and ended up paying lots of money. In summary don't choose TT the deal may be cheap to begin with but they will get you in the end.

Worst company I have ever had to deal with. Router had to be reset every single day. They overcharged me constantly. Their customer service was atrocious and I hope I never have to speak to another one of their rude staff. Stay clear! You have been warned! Complete nightmare!

If I could give the speed and reliability 0 stars I would.
The speed is glacial, and has been getting worse.
There are times when I think dial up was faster, well actually sometimes it is as slow as 56K.
Line was OK with sky, but with Talk Talk it just gets worse.
