Months of slow speed, and monthly complaints. The people at the call centre had different excuses, slow Wifi, I had to input several lines of code to get internet speeds, then I was told of a site that would measure it automatically, but I had to do it several times a day. Told to phone in results. Incomprehension!
i.e. told a load of nonsense.
Eventually they admitted they couldn't give me a useable speed and advised me to transfer to Plusnet. They said there would be no cancellation fee.
Now I find they have taken £190 out of my account twice this month.
Phoned them, deepest apologies and they will refund.
This whole episode has been a disgrace.
What a shambles PO Telecommunications is. Outrageously bad.

The absolute worst broadband I have ever had. Think my original dial up modem was quicker and more reliable. Took the hit on the cancellation fee and switched provider it was that bad. Avoid at all costs - the cheap monthly payment is not worth the misery!

I have never had broadband with anyone but sky but it was time for a change due to the increasing costs and not completely happy it’s range in my new house. (a small 3 bed semi.) On a whim one evening I signed up with PostOffice and then spent days panicking and wondering if I should cancel.
Anyway, changeover day and I didn’t have broadband my midnight. Still didn’t have it my 9am the following morn so I phoned. Turned out it wouldn’t connect fully until my home phone number was passed over from sky (even though I don’t actually put in w home phone, just use a mobile). This could take up to 48 hours. Not mentioned in the paperwork anywhere! Man told me I’d be compensated but just got first bill and it’s for full amount. In the end I was connected by the end of the day. And I must say I’m more that happy with the actual broadband.
It gives me more coverage in my own house than sky did.
I have a spot in my kitchen where my mobile would not connect to my to WiFi when on WhatsApp but it does with Post office. Sky rarely worked in my garden and I usually gave up and went onto 4G but I’ve been on full WiFi in my garden with post office. In my bedroom, upstairs, above the living room where WiFi hub was, I could only get WiFito use for Netflix on tv if bedroom door was opened but can now get it with door closed.
Today, tv was on which uses WiFi for amazon and Netflix (I have no aerial so reply completely on WiFi for tv) 4 iPhones connected, 1 laptop playing a movie and all was great.
Saw a review saying that it won’t connect to WiFi printers but it connected to mine via the wps button on the WiFi hub.
So, a couple of issues to start with but now it’s up and running it’s better than sky. Shame I’ll need to move again in a year when the price goes up!

From 2014 to 2018, the PO were excellent. Easy to reach help etc.. Now I realise that I am paying hiked up prices for a poor service. I have two properties and they merged them into 1 account. Only 1 change is permitted every 2 weeks. So I waited for two weeks to be told that I. Then I am told that, although FTTC is available, they can't provide it. Also they can't provide the normal ADSL service. Instead, I must stay on PO 'Broadband Connect' which is slower and twice the price due to high maintenance costs. Do not accept this contract as others can provide a faster ADSL line, or even fibre. I now plan to change, but every provider seems to suffer the same poor customer service and unreliable internet. With 1 year contracts to be locked into, make sure you have a guarantee of no-fee exit if they can't deliver the advertised speeds.

Since going live, we have received a technical capability and customer service level which has been completely unfit for purpose. After weeks of engaging with the Post Office Telecom processes, we have no choice but to conclude that it fundamentally lacks both the engineering capability as well as customer service ability to competently rectify the problems.

We have been receiving fluctuating speeds on our broadband line from the start, with no clear pattern - sometimes as high as 6Mbps, but most evenings down to less than 0.5Mbps. This speed is poor enough that, at one point, we didn’t even have enough internet speed to search online for the right technical support telephone number to investigate the issue.

Worse than the actual technical problems, it seems that the business processes being followed at the Post Office customer support lines are in complete disarray.

In the first two weeks of service, the employees we spoke to assured us that the speed of our line would settle down after the fortnight “bedding in” period where speed vs. reliability tests were conducted. It did not.
Therefore, in mid-May we started conducting frequent speed tests using their tool, and feeding those data points back to Post Office Telecoms.
On 21/05/2018 we were asked to send in at least 3 ping and tracert data points using an ethernet connection and the RJ45 test socket in the main telephone point of the house (to support@pobroadband.co.uk) whilst no wifi was connected. This was done exactly per the instructions. An automated response email and later discussion with their employees confirmed our email was received - indeed, they told us, we should expect a response around 24 - 48 hours later. We just needed to give them time to look at the ping and tracert data we'd sent.
    Lovely.
    Except...
Between then and 07/06/2018, the primary account holder called in every 2 or 3 days to chase progress on this. At every call, the call centre script with your employees was basically the same: had we done speed tests? Were they on the test socket? Were wifi devices on? Was it on an ethernet connection? Can we send in ping and tracert data again? (GAH!)
Occasionally, the employees would try a variant… they’d confirm the issue had been passed to an engineering team, who had “closed the support ticket as they were waiting on ping and tracert data”. Which we duly re-sent via email the same day, and received automated email responses acknowledging its receipt.
On 07/06/2018, after many, many phone calls… as a native English speaker, who works in technology herself, and who has worked on IT support desks so has an unusually high level of patience when dealing with contact centres… our primary account holder gave up on the Post Office support team as a lost cause.
Spouse (co-account holder) took up the battle.
Thereafter has followed another week of regular support calls, with us sending speed tests, doing a fresh sets of ping and tracert data captures (with screenshot proof of wifi being off, pictures of the command line output, screen grabs of the speed test results).
The same lack of customer service has continued.
On 14/06/2018 17:46, we received an email stating that a technical fault had been fixed.
This morning (15/06/2018 09:10), we received a telephone call confirming that the Post Office had received the ping and tracert data we'd sent a few days ago. Apparently, the matter was going to be passed onto the engineering team and we would hear back within 3 working days.
Confused, we rang back to clarify why the email of 14/06/2018 had suggested a fault had been found and fixed but there was an engineering ticket open… only to be told that no one from the Post Office had emailed us, no one had called at 09:10 this morning, and that the latest status according to this colleague’s support ticket was that we needed to send in ping and tracert data. &^!^""%^"%%"^"!!!!?!?!?!
At this point, we decided to terminate the service.
We told the employee (Ryan) that we are going to post off a letter requesting that the service is terminated - the employee told her a letter won’t do any good, he will transfer her to the Service Termination Team on the call. We agreed. Except Ryan accidently cut the line whilst trying to transfer the call. Called back a few mins later to apologise and try again. We agreed again to talk to the termination team. The call was cut off again.
WE GIVE UP TRYING TO GET THEM TO PROVIDE ANY LEVEL OF SERVICE AND ARE RESORTING TO AN OFCOM COMPLAINT.
The Post Office is clearly unable to provide the service we purchased, technically or in terms of customer service. Our broadband experience has been an utter waste of time, with countless hours wasted in troubleshooting and in weeks of calls to a support team who achieved precisely nothing in that time.
We've never dealt with an organisation that was so inept!
Save yourself the headache and look to one of their competitors.
UPDATE JULY 2018: we've activated the service with a competitor and on the exact same line are getting reliable peak traffic speeds of 8-15mbs. More than ever, wish we'd not wasted 4 months of headaches with the Post Office!

Appalling speed of less than 1mbps usually and they refuse to send an engineer or a new router or allow you to cancel the contract. Signal not even strong enough to watch iplayer sitting next to the router. Worse choice I have ever made.

The worst broadband ever. Disconnects every 10 mins. Had engineer out 1 said its fine next one found loads of faults and said it needed a new line 3rd one attends and says its all fine again. Total bollox It's been down all the time. I pay for fibre and meant to be superfast but the most I get is 2mbs if it works at all. Can't wait to leave this contract. AVOID!

Despite all the appalling reviews I have seen online, I decided to go with Post Office broadband (ordinary ADSL) because it was a fantastic 12 month deal. I AM SO GLAD I DID! Switching went smoothly and on time. The speed is always in excess of 7MB download and often over 8MB - the supposed upper limit! Previously, no supplier has ever given me more than 6MB. The online account manager is a well designed and functional web site All in all, I am a 100% satisfied customer ...... I will stay with PO as long as they don't excessively increase the charge at the end of my contract ....... I do like haggling and have no worries about switching utility suppliers.

This is the worst WiFi I have ever seen. Most the time there is no internet connection and when you occasionally get WiFi it won’t load anything without taking 10 minutes. We’ve had the engineer out and it hasn’t solved anything. Do NOT buy this WiFi if you ever want WiFi. This is the worst service I have ever received.

I must tell you they are terrible, emailed them to cancel was told had to call to cancel so I did. Explained I would no longer be at this address after my service ends so would need my final bill before I move. Told by the post office this is not possible at the bill will be sent to my old address. How stupid is that if you want to be paid send the bill to me before this property is empty told they wont. Simple answer to you post office no bill before I leave then you get no final payment as simple as that. Also customer service when you try to cancel oh my god they are so rude because you want to cancel took me ages on the phone to get them to cancel. I will never use again ever.

I am sure by now that anyone scrolling through these reviews will realise that the service you will receive is adsolutely pathetic.
However i can vouch 100% that if you are looking for...
    1. The slowest internet speeds.
    2. Regular connection drops outs several times a day.
    3. Unhelpful and unsympathetic call centre staff.
    4. Excuses, excuses a plenty.
    5. Frustration on a daily basis.
    6. Being Forced to use your mobile data due to no internet connection.
.... Then this is the package to go with as they have built up a proven track record of dissapointing as many customers as possible.

We have braodband and anytime phone calls with the Post Office and setup has been quick and easy.
The braodband package is up to 38mbps which has proved very stable and consistent, we are getting at least 37mbps up to 37.78mbps at all times of the day.
The support team are friendly and know their stuff however we haven't needed much imput from them as issues with the service have been minor.
Based on experience from other providers of phone and braodband in the past and problems with braodband stability the Post Office have done us proud.
I would highly recommend the post office on our experience so far.

Although broadband speed is Ok in the morning and early afternoon, it is abysmal from 5pm onwards. So no catch up TV in the evenings, and limited web browsing then. Therefore, not at all suitable to working people.

I decided to leave a review as it appears only dissatisfied customers are leaving them.
I changed 3 weeks ago from Plusnet to Post Office saving £15.00 a month. The changeover went smooth as silk and I am getting consistently over 35Mb/sec connection speeds with very very few disconnections. Overall a very positive experience.

Updating of service should happen during out of normal working hours e.g. after midnight.
Updates tend occur during daytime working hours and can last the entire day - no notice is given prior to updating. This is extremely annoying and most inconvenient, as the email service etc. is out of reach during these periods of updating.
I have tried to contact Customer Services to establish how long before there is access to the service, but only a recorded message advising that the system is being updated is available to the customer - that adds to the frustration.

Simply appalling. Connection won’t even go above 1mbps (remember a megabit is 1/8 megabyte making this even worse than it looks). I ran 10 speed test in a row, 4 didn’t even complete because the connection is so poor and the others averaged at 0.15 mbps. The connection drops out constantly throughout the day And Royal Mail say everything is fine.

It’s not, it’s diabolical! We are paying almost as much as a fibre customer And getting a service that’s less reliable and slower than 56kbps dialup. It’s that bad it’s verging on unusable...why am I the only employee at my company who must use a telephone to call into meetings because my internet is that atrocious?!

where to start I've been with the post office now for 13-14 months and they are crap the speed is slow the wifi connection is very hit and miss if there's one. and the customer service is the bigger joke ever. I've lost count how many times I've rung them to complain. they say the same thing and do the same thing ever time I ring them. they have blamed the bad connection on the router 3 times and sent me a 3 new ones and still it doesn't make a difference. so DON'T USE THE POST OFFICE FOR BROADBAND

If you are thinking of getting PO B/band DO NOT DO IT. The customer 'service' is lacking, technical support awful (they refer you to customer service girls who 'don't know , sorrry'. It is talk talk under a n other name apparently. They say it takes 3 days for the internet to 'settle down' when new router is connected and then it should work. Do not hold your breath. It connects for a few minutes and drops. No one at PO knows how to change the security settings - it comes with child guards etc so limits what you can access (if router is connected long enough for you to connect to anything). I want to return to old provider and pay the extra - I got service, proper technical support when needed and did not have to wait 10 minutes listening to awful music on the 'phone before I got a human to speak to me. Seriously, do not use these people - there is no support, no speed, no help, no advice, and no internet connection.

Just wanted to point out a really annoying feature of the website where you are supposed to be able to obtain and print out your Post Office broadband bills, you absolutely cannot do so unless your device supports Adobe Flash. This discounts all apple devices including mobiles and iPads and Macs. Flash itself was old fashioned in 2010 and it’s due to be phased out completely in 2020, so why are they still using it? Just seemed shoddy to me as well as being incredibly irritating, considering they charge you for paper billing. Why not just pay someone to update the website so that everyone can have access to it?

The broadband itself was okay for the money by the way.

I was also a fuel broadband customer, When I was informed that I would be transferred to POBroadband at almost 2X the cost of fuel I arranged talk talk as a new supplier. I told fuel that I did not want to go toPObroadband. My TalkTalk service was activated on July 11th. Imagine my shock to discover that PO had direct debited £32+ on1st September. I have spent ££'s on phone calls, I can't use the free number. I have written to them. PO insist that thhey are providing me with the service, but Talk Talk is definitely connected on the only lline into my home. No they say I can't cancel except by calling, what??? and spend £££'s in a queue to cancel something I never asked for.
    bahhhhh, useless company ..

The worst broadband provide I have ever had. Internet keep disconnecting almost every day. I contacted customers support but they keep saying that they don't see any problem. They didn't solve the problem during 6 months. Internet speed is so poor that the best way to use it is to connect a pc and laptop to router via cable. Wifi signal is very poor. Avoid Post Office Broadband!

Beware, I was going to sign up with them only to realise their cooling off period is PRIOR to the service being online. This is absurd! You can't cancel the contract after the setup is done and you can actually see how it performs! This can only be against consumer rights. Stay clear!
