Sky say up to 17Mb for their Unlimited broadband.
The broadband speed we've been getting for quite a while now is only 1.7Mb.
    It's pathetically slow.

Easily the worst broadband provider. We called to complain and when they answered they said they would improve it and make it cheaper. It was good for the month period that we could cancel the contract in but straight after turned to ****. I currently cannot load a YouTube video in my room, nor can I use any social media app. It is pathetic. We was promised speeds of minimum 30mbs and right next to the router we get 6. It’s terrible. Definitely not worth it.

Do not switch to Sky.. what was a simple phone and broadband switch from EE has now caused my parents to have no phone or broadband for nearly 4 weeks.. Sky Cust Serv shocking, promised call backs fail, promised service restoration time frame fail.. they just don’t care.. not able to speak to team dealing with it, will not put you through to manager.. anyone with vulnerable people using online hospital, working from home etc.. think twice!!

If you like having distinctively average broadband that will cut out and then come back on again randomly this is the company for. If you want poor customer service when trying to fix the issue, again the company for you.

I cannot understand all the negative reviews on here. I have been with sky since they took over o2. I get a consistent top of the range speed ( 37mbs ) very rarely drops out ( I have not had a drop out for months) and on the odd occasion I need to speak to them I always get through in a couple of minutes. When I did have a problem with my BT main socket they arranged for an Openreach engineer to put in a new up to date socket for free.Top class

Worst broadband i've ever had. Unstable, unreliable and extremely slow. Engineers get sent out, fix the problem for 2 days and it starts all over again. Literally so awful that sky broadband customers have been given rolling contract extensions to stop people from cancelling

I have been with Sky around 3 years ( when they took over o2) and find them very good. I get though in a couple of minutes to a friendly uk call center and they always have managed to solve any problems I have had ( mostly speed- I probably expect too much but I do get aroun 39mbs). The internet does drop out now and again ( maybe every couple of months ) but only for seconds or sometimes minutes. When the router went wrong they sent a new one straight away. I would not go to another ISP based on the reviews of some of them

We're with Sky Fibre Optic. We're supposed to get 34mbps and we do on rare occasions. Most of the time, we get between 3mbps-12mbps. We've phoned Sky dozens of times and each time we're forced to endure tedious and time consuming troubleshooting checks. An engineer has come out 5 times, blaming the problem each time on static. Oddly, our speed always goes back up to 34mbps after they've been (and made the phone call) and then the speed drops again after a week. Once, someone at customer support admitted that we had been capped and only a manager could uncap us. Only a few more months of the 18 month contract to go.

Reliable connection and grap* speed that's pretty much the deal, internet speed is slow in general in UK but the problem is this companies are greedy, they overload the broadband by having to many customers, you may ask yourself why internet speed is 10 times slower in weekends.

Terrible - avoid Sky like the plague!! Broadband connection has gone out for months on end. Also had landline phone go off & be noisy on line After 10 engineers, Sky have told me that nothing can be done & advised me to leave them!! I've just bothered now to google other opinions on Sky and found this site. Wish I'd done it sooner as it appears Sky Broadband connection dropping out is a general problem and not something I thought was where I live! Im leaving them asap. Would advise anyone NEVER TO JOIN them. My 1 star is purely for the Sky twitter team as they were always friendly.

I've been with Sky for only 2 weeks & I can't wait to leave.... My broadband doesn't work, they blame openreach (the uk phone liine owners) for this, but refuse to tell me what the problem is, tell me that I'll just have to wait another 2 weeks & in the meantime they keep billing for services (telephone, broadband, multIroom, boxsets etc.) which can't be used due to their failure to deliver broadband.

I cancelled broadband 12 months ago and received pre packaged envelopes to send back equipment which I did. I have now just cancelled TV and Sky are saying I still have a booster I didn’t return and want to charge me for it. Very aggressive people on the phone suggesting I need to show proof of return from 12 months ago. I explained to them that when I cancelled it said to return within 30 days or I will be charged. I returned but if I am supposedly missing something why did they not charge me then?
Very unhappy, sounds like another scam from a big organisation just flexing their muscle to rip people off!

installation was meant to be 19062017 in actual fact was 26072018,in this time two children studying for a'levels and mock exams clocked up £112 worth of additional data on phones for revision.SKY as gesture of so called goodwill refunded twenty ponds activation fee.Uunder no circumstances do sky or bt open reach take any responsibility for additional charges incurred by my family due to their inability to supply services when agreed bear in mind that you no longer have services from previous internet service provider.DO NOT USE SKY THEY WILL TEST YOU TO THE LIMIT AND SIMPLY HIDE BEHIND CONTRACTS THEY ARE NOT WORTHY OF YOUR BUSINESS .The biggest thing to bear in mind is this just because they are a big company doesn't make them the best as this case highlights they have become too big to care .

I have been with Sky since they took over o2 and do not recognise the company other reviewers are complaining about. I have no drop outs and get 37mbs against their projected 40mbs. I do not have to contact them very often ( only to negotiate a better price ) but always get through in a couple of minutes and fined them helpful and friendly, even when I did have a problem when I moved a socket which the sorted.

    I would not change.

Agreed to pay £5:00 per month in October 2016 with no additional charges bank statement showed that £10:00 had been taken, am still waiting for this to be resolved despite numerous calls from them about understanding my frustration at the incompetence of not as yet listening to voice transcripts. Avoid them if you want good customer service, They also try to tell you that they charge additional charges for not having line rental etc but when contract agreed they were clear £5:00 per month.

I try to leave reviews somewhat positive but its impossible with sky.

It wasnt even working to post this review i had to rely on my 4g internet. The speed has never topped 2mb per second if it decides to work at all. There is nothing good about this broadband at all.

I have been a loyal customer of sky. However I have recently moved house and ask sky to move my phone line to a differently location so that I can actually use the Internet. I have been told that they cannot do that free of charge and I should pay £66 for it. My contract with Sky expires in Feruary and I called BT and asked them whether I could switch. They offered a great deal on TV and broadband and have agreed to move my phone line free of charge. I called sky and asked to match the deal. They have the nerve to insinuate that what I was saying was untrue. Well if Sky does not want to keep their loyal customers somebody else will take them. Shame that the people that work for them are so rude and disrespectful.

I have sky fibre ultra-fast - a bit of a joke as I only get 30MB/s on a good day. Being a teacher and working from home for almost a year now has been difficult. Slow speeds and unreliable - I've moved to Virgin media now. 200MB/s here I come.

Everything is terrible. Fibre broadband speed never got above 5Mbps (five) always noise on phone line. Customer service are rude, arrogant and it’s never their fault. When I left them I got letters in for addresses in England (never lived in England) demanding I pay someone else’s bill. Would never ever recommend them to anyone. I would go without if I had the choice of sky tv or nothing.

After 24 months my contract has come to the end. For the next 5 months I was paying on a monthly basis. When I called with a complaint that my BB is dropping (according to Sky app it was ongoing issue with my sky hub)I have been offered a new hub, HD Netflix and all of this at the redeuced price.
However, nobody has mentioned that I will be entering a new contract and I have to pay for a hub delivery and administration fee! Only found out next day when got an email from Sky.
What a bunch of rogue traders there at Sky.
When I contacted them that I do not want to enter a new contract and that I have not been told about it and extra costs in the first place, they decided that my broadband will be disconnected in two weeks time. Thankfully there are other providers that will be happy to take my money for the service provided.

After 20 years with sky we moved house and 3 weeks later sky have still not connected us with broadband. My husband has spent hours on the phone being passed to different people. We have been told we can’t cancel or move providers that there is an issue with open reach. BT have replied saying that could connect us and given a date why can’t sky. Updated today that Sky won’t honour previous contract and we need to take out more expensive new package. Very poor escalation and customer service.

Biggest mistake this year was moving to Sky. Ongoing issue but I was scheduled to get my new install on 28th August. Engineer arrived on time and then everything has gone downhill since. 8 days into my contact and I have been given my 4th new install date for 6th sept. Have been left without tv or broadband for over a week and still need to wait. I have been hung up on by staff. Promised callbacks that haven’t happened. I am well versed in everything Sky can’t do, unfortunately yet to see what they can do other than pass the blame to Outreach who according to one of their call handlers they don’t communicate with. Was told to contact outreach to complain to them but I don’t have a contract with them? My contract is with Sky which they have breached numerous times to date

After some discussions with different Sky help centre staff over a few days my speed has been increased from avge 1.7Mb to 3.1Mb.
    Line seldom drops.
Speed about best I'm going to get this far from exchange over copper wires.
Now that call centres back in UK I found staff very helpful but as usual some better than others at actually helping out.

The worst broadband possible. I know people near by who also have the same issues. Disconnecting from the internet and extremely slow speeds are the main issues but often it will just go down for a whole evening. Again friends who live by also are affected by this. Truly shocking.

Having read some of these reviews I find it hard to believe it's the same company that I am with. I was an old O2 customer who stayed with Sky and have found them to be excellent - no transfer problems, broadband speed and reliability excellent; and courteous and efficient customer service (as O2 had been). The latter is important for me. In addition, as on old O2 customer they have given me free broadband - currently in the third year now. It's important to be polite when contacting any customer services - I wonder whether some of the complaints here are due to the attitude of the customer calling rather than the Sky agents (whom I have found to be very courteous)...
