The staff in their call centres seem to have tried hard to fix the problems with my line, but since switching to them my broadband has gone from being "rock solid but a little sluggish" to "OK for a while, but sooner or later, totally useless". After escalating my problems, my connection was good for a while, but now it's heading for the toilet again...

As a Sky customer for the last 12 years I can say without hesitation that if your looking for an ISP then you should have no fear if you choose Sky, customer service is excellent their personal are always polite, broadbands speeds and reliability are very good, only thing that could be better is the price.

I’d give less than 1 star for speed if I could..... paying for sky unlimited..... use to get speeds of 1.5Mbps which was awful....in the last few months the speed as dropped and dropped to the point where I’m constantly resetting the router to get an extra 0.1.... currently sitting at 0.21Mbps

In context my phones 4G gets 13Mbs and my first ever dial up modem back in the 90s was only 4x slower....

    Total disappointment and a disgrace.
    Customer service is non existent.
You'll be trying to get through for over 20 minutes at a time and they will not fix the problem.
They will lie and tell you it is you that is the problem and say it is your equipment that is interfering with the router.
They will charge you the full amount even though you get no service.
Avoid if possible. Sky only want your money!

Please don't buy Sky. It has the worst customer service. For home change request, it has been 2 weeks and I have not got an update. I tried calling their customer service and waited for 1 hr in queue but they didn't answer. Any ways I can disconnect this stupid connection? The post office broadband provides much faster service than this service. They even increased my connection amount from 18 to 20 £ without informing and on asking told they no longer have the service. They even disconnected my contract and put a new contract for 18 months once again

We've been at our new home for just 1 month, but my family all have used Sky since I was a kid and they always go back to them. So far at our house the broadband is more reliable, faster even though it is not fibre, than our last supplier which was fibre (to cabinet)! We get 150MBs as opposed to the 50MBs we had previously with Vdfn. Our engineer (Bakary) was fast and helpful with my questions. I have no complaints about Sky, which feels like a first for me as we have had a lot of trouble with companies we use this last year. Will stick with them as long as they do not hike price.

When taken out I had a speed of 5+ but now it is at 3. So what gives? How can this happen. Not happy at all and have gone through all the Sky help procedure and it has not improved.Feel that once you have signed up they pull the plug on your service.

Sky does not give any service to its customer rather it tries to snatch money from the customer without any service.Even it does not solve any problem after complaints. Its customer service is very bad.Such non-cooperation is very disappointing and unjust.

Changed from BT what a mistake.
    Change was a painful process.
Actual performance of broadband is terrible it is slow and drops out, router has weaker signal than previous BT router, seriously thinking of changing again.
I work from home occaisionally and need a reliable service I definately dont get this from sky.

Do not touch Sky with a bargepole. They blocked my girlfriends mother's number so she could not call her; she was clearly using the so called 'unlimited call' package too much. I was paying for a service that these cowboys blocked and then said I couldnt cancel. I dont think so, im off to Virgin.

Worst broadband provider ever, paid £30 a month for barely 10mbps i'm moving next week so I called customer support about 2 weeks ago for canceling they said everything was being setup for me and will have no extra costs, i woke up this morning and £30 was taken from my account for another month of usless broadband, I called back to get an immediate cancellation and the operator on the phone took 20 min to get it trough their system and still i didn't get a confirmation, i will never use sky again and I will not suggest it to anyone, ridiculous

Well I don't know what it is about Sky but.....for the last year I have been with BT for standard broadband. When I signed up they told me I'd get 3 - 8 mbs download speeds and I consistently got between 3 and 3.25 mbs download. Two weeks ago I switched to sky on a free broadband for 1 year offer. They also advised me that I'd get 3 - 8 mbs download. Since then I have checked regularly using speedtest.net and have recorded the following download speeds:
    13/5 - 7.16
    14/5 - 7.37
    15/5 - 7.49
    16/5 - 7.74
    18/5 - 7.63
    19/5 - 8.09
    20/5 - 7.67
    23/5 - 8.5
    24/5 - 8.56

Why couldn't BT give these speeds.

Very Unhappy With Sky Broadband, Slow Broadband Speed. Maintenance Repairs Near Home Occasionally Lead To Faults In The Line Resulting In Intermittent Broadband Connection And Complete Loss Of Dial Tone On Telephone Handset. Due To This Happening On Numerous Occasions I Know That I Will Have To Endure Another Sky Customer Service Call, The Thought Of Contacting Sky Is Repellent Due To The Long Procedure That I Know I Will Have To Go Through Despite Knowing Exactly What The Problem Is Myself.

I've used Sky "Broadband" for the greater half of 2 years and I'm deeply disappointed with the service I am given.

On NUMEROUS Occasions, I've had to ring sky to ask for advice on certain issues (EXTREME Packet Loss + EXTREMELY Slow connection 90% of the day). Yes, I'm aware of "Peak" times, but to cap my service by 80% 90% of the day? It seems extremely pointless to call up for advice as most of the time the advisers will ask you to "Restart your router" or the Classic "Turn it off and on again". These "Solutions" NEVER Work.

The Hardware, seems out-dated for the 21st century. The "HomeHub" or "Hub" as Routers are called these days, has quite bad signal strength (Though I'm laying in bed, about 5 foot away at times with the laptop connected VIA WIFI, and I BARELY Reach 1/2 Bars of signal.)

For me, the Firmware seems out-dated. I'm not an "Ubergeek" (for lack of better words) on this topic, but I would like to give some access control + Limit device bandwidth using QoS. This, is not possible with the current 200kbp/s I'm currently getting.

I'm also aware that I'm not in the best location to recieve SKY "Broadband"(We've only just invented Electricity here in the lands of Dartmoor | Sheep + Cows included).

This "Broadband" I keep mentioning is like being on ADSL. In fact, I'm pretty sure that is exactly what we're getting here. Slow speeds, crappy connectivity, slow load times. I Get a better signal using my Phones internet on 3G using WIFI Hotspot. (17.8mb/s download | 1.5MBP/s Upload). Though, this occasionally causes some hectic bills at the end of the month.

Why am I using my phone's internet you ask? Because SKY Is unreliable.

Overall, the Setup was extremely quick. It's a shame that the service they provide (Or not) in this area is pretty crappy.

    Thanks for reading.

Worst internet I've ever had and I've had a few internet service providers since the 90s. WiFi barely reaches upstairs (new build so the walls are paper thin), low speed, constantly craps out. Paying £35fl for absolutely nothing. Bottom line? Avoid sky at all costs

We became Sky customers in Jan-2014 when they took over our previous supplier, BeThere.
For the first six months everything was fine.

But for the last month or two the broadband connection goes down at least once a day (the phone remains fine).

Customer service is virtually unobtainable; when you eventually get through the broadband is back and so their line check says the line is fine, and we are told that something must be wrong in our house (where nothing has changed).

Absolutely horrendous service. First of all the engineer who was sent out wasn't given the details of the job that would need done (we needed new phone lines etc), so I had to rearrange the appointment for them to come during the AM. This didn't seem to be a problem, until Sky kept delaying the appointment, texting me over and over again putting it off from one week to the next. I cancelled the direct debit as nothing was being done, then was contacted via message (again) four days before Christmas saying they couldn't complete my order...naturally they realised the DD had been cancelled, and suddenly couldn't do anymore. Never again, I'm waiting until the New Year and looking elsewhere for better customer service with a provider who does just that...PROVIDES!!!

If you are here because you are considering moving to Sky, we'll done for remembering to check the reviews first because you've just saved yourself a lot of time mainly, but money, despair, frustration and even relationship problems as you would have had to spend at least 3 hours per week on the phone to the incredulously pathetic team of customer service agents, who are highly trained experts in the field of passing-the-buck and lying mostly. I've had intermittent broadband since day one, which is more often OFF than ON and my 2 increasingly frustrated teenagers let me know each time it goes off! We're averaging 10 times a day! Hours spent repeatedly carrying out their futile tests! On the upside, I can now remove a faceplate from a phone socket ....with my eyes shut! Seriously, their prices aren't the best, don't be fooled into thinking you'll get good service because it's a massive global company! Oh no! They may as well be a 2-bit outfit in one of the end shops of Scunthorpe's high street! Sky is proof that there are exceptions to the old adage "you get what you pay for!" Again, well done for doing your homework before joining them, I wish I had! I have 2 months left on my contract but I am paying another provider for my services, seeing as Sky can't! Run for the hills.....GO! (Do you like what I did there?)

So unsurprisingly the Sky WiFi guarantee (minimum 3mbps whole home) is worthless. I was persuaded to switch from a fully functional BT Whole Home system (router and 2 x mesh extenders) that worked perfectly to Sky's rubbish. Just got off the phone to a very unhelpful lady who ran me round the houses, raised my blood pressure and got me nowhere. The router works fine, my BB speeds and stability are fine, the WiFi is awful. Don't tuch Sky with a bargepole.

were guaranteed by customer services that speed would be between 5 and 8mbps, it very rarely goes above 3mbps. contacted customer services about it and was kept waiting over 2 hours and their only solution was to send an engineer to replace wiring in the house, told them they were not doing that, then they said it was because the router was not connected to the main telephone connection when it actually was correctly connected. left it about a week, then contacted them again and they said they would try and step up the connection. to be fair it did rise and stayed above 5mbps for maybe 3 days before completely dropping again. would not recommend to anyone

We’ve been with Sky for a couple of years now, since we moved house as Virgin wasn’t available in our current house. The whole 2 or so years it’s been mediocre at best, we’ve told them several times and we eventually got upgraded to fibre at no extra cost. We’re now allegedly on their bestest fastest shiniest broadband they provide and it’s still terrible. I’m trying to watch a video on my phone at the moment (this is the reason I’ve decided to leave this review), I’m about 15 feet from the router and I can see it so there’s no obstructions blocking the signal, and it keeps freezing so it can buffer. My girlfriend has a computer based job and she quite often works from home, her laptop and computer are probably 5 or 6 feet away from the router and she doesn’t bother with the WiFi as she can’t rely on it, she just tethers off of her work phone instead, to me that speaks volumes about the quality of Sky’s service! We're moving house in the New Year and we will absolutely definitely 100% not ever be going back to Sky, Virgin was better in every way, the TV included! If we can’t get Virgin at our new place then we’ll just be having freeview and using another broadband provider. Avoid sky fibre in my opinion, it’s nowhere near as good as they make it out to be, in the advert they show getting signal in the garage, on the roof, in the garden etc, to get this coverage they must have at least 2 routers in each location! Sky TV is a rip off too! If I could leave zero stars or a negative number I would.

I switched from BT some time ago. It was an improvement but broadband speed is still poor. I find on the internet that the cabinet to which my phone line is connected is FTTC. Is there a reason why this should not enable a better service to be provided? If so how can I go about it?

Been with Sky for over 15years and not had any bother. Looked at getting fibre broadband in & someone else was cheaper. Then the problems with Sky started. I'm told i get upto 46mbs download. I'm lucky if it touches 3mbs. Sick of the prices for Sky generally going up. One Sky operator told me it was to pay for the football rights. I don't watch football, so charge it to the sports channel subscribers. Next i was told it was to invest in more 'great' programmes. Sorry but as much as the fanfare for Fortitude, it was crap! Isn't that what adverts are for? We don't see ITV, C4 of C5 charging us. They've lost me as a customer, maybe when they realise their shooting themselves, they'll do something to halt the exodus of customers.

An absolute joke of a supplier. They booked an Open Reach engineer to activate my broadband for a specific date between 1-6, two weeks after I had joined Sky. I called them at 3pm on the day of installation, was told it was still going ahead - the engineer was just running late. No sign of the engineer at 6pm so I called back..only to be told that there was a technical error on Open Reach's side and the order was never processed in the first place. Sky apologised, said that they had now assigned someone to personally see the installation on their end and booked an appointment for the following Tuesday - which in their words was "100% going ahead". Router arrived through the post, I'd heard nothing so I assumed it was good to go. Day of the appointment comes, I drove back up the country specifically to be available for the 1-6 time slot - I call Sky...and they inform me that the installation had been cancelled 30 minutes after it had been confirmed a week prior. Why did no-one think to contact me to inform me of this? Where was the agent apparently overseeing my case?

Then to make matters even more hilarious they inform me that they can put the order through again, but it'll take two weeks to get an engineer out - but again they'll 100% ensure that this appointment goes ahead, they'll assign someone to the case, they'll keep me in the loop.

Seriously, what is the point of Sky in this process? I understand Open Reach are a nightmare, but Sky's communication has been horrendous.

I spoke to several agents on the phone, none of whom were helpful at all. They didn't keep me up to date, they were absolutely clueless as to how to rectify this issue, and one even tried to blame me for their incompetence - saying that because Sky had proven to be useless, why hadn't I called them days in advance to confirm that they would bother showing up?! He then informed me that the agent handling the case had sent me an email, and had sent them a screenshot of the email in his Outbox folder - when I informed him that your Outbox folder is for pending messages, not sent ones all he had to say was "Oh, sorry about that".

Anyway, opted for a EE 5GEE router and it's up and running within 24 hours of ordering.

Shan't be using Sky again. My family are longterm Sky Broadband/TV users and I'll be advising them to sack off these cowboys as well.

Enjoying my 28K dial up at the moment, maybe in the 60th time someone comes to fix it it will be able to connect to the internet one day.

Probably the worst company I have dealt with. Sucked in at Carphone Warehouse on a deal that looked too good to be true. It was, and when I went back to CW to look at the offer we had discussed they said they could not find that particular leaflet and probably Sky had picked them all up.
Then called Sky and suffered a sales person for about an hour trying to get me to upgrade.
Prices progressively go up. They have just decided to change my plan again at additional cost.
TV recording is restricte - record two at the same time and you cannot watch any other programme.
Broadband is a tad quicker than what I used about 20 years ago.
Cannot cancel contract without early termination and fees and you also have to call someone who may lock you down for 90 minutes. (google Daily Telegraph.
And as for the landline costs - well what can I say apart from we no longer use it.
Upsides? Broadband has only crashed a couple of times.
If I could give a zero rating I would.

Been with sky for a long time, had no real bad issues (2 routers 1 power cord replaced) bt recently have had connection drops and reduced speed issues that are terrible. Phone, TV and internet all in 1 company. Was a good idea at the time but I am starting to shop around. When they work it is grrat but when they mess up they are an epic fail.
