Customer service is everything in a competitive market; it can make or break your business. Nobody expects everything to go right every single time, so it is when things do go wrong that customer service should come into its own. They are your customer’s first point of call, that which shapes your image in the eyes of the public and separates the good from truly awful. It is a skill which has to be perfected over time with experience, knowledge and commitment.
With this in mind I will say that Post Office Broadband customer service is one of the worst I have ever experienced. The first thing that confronts you is the apathetic attitude. You are not important to them and they are not interested in you or the company they represent. They are unable to enunciate their speech or communicate in a clear and helpful manner. They have no verbal or listening skills so you have to constantly repeat yourself to get your message across. Then when you become frustrated, instead of calming the situation down with reassurances and empathy they simply turn the tables and make you feel that you are a nuisance and being unreasonable.
One customer service officer at Post Office broadband has recently told me to stop interrupting him, when I informed him I wanted to make a complaint he seemed aggrieved and outraged. When I insisted that he acknowledge my complaint he informed me that it wouldn’t make any difference. I still waiting for a phone call back from them, but I’m not holding my breath.

Been a customer of PO broadband & phone premium for over six years.

Was fine until the PO hooked up with Talk Talk in place of BT.

For me an acceptable connection speed during the day 4-6mbps but every evening (7pm till very late) less than 1.2mbps or much worse, dropouts,,,,

Iplayer and Netflix drop out in the evenings basically unwatchable.

YOU COULD SAFELY BET YOUR GRANNYS BOOTS TALK TALKS BOX OFFICE TV ON DEMAND SERVICE IS TRAFFIC SHAPED PERFECTLY AND IS NOT EVEN SLIGHTLY EFFECTED BY DROPOUTS AND/OR INFERIOR CONNECTION SPEEDS.

Talk Talk and the PO are well suited. “18 month contracts” they should be wearing masks.

Bottom line if you are thinking about PO Broadband....don't, it is now unquestionably the low esteem fag end option and you now pay handsomely for it.

There are more intelligent solutions and services from telecoms suppliers out there for not a lot more money especially in view of the PO's latest price hikes I know I recently found one.....

Terrible! From day 1, the WiFi connection didn’t work. I live in a small house so it was very bizarre that it only reached 2 rooms- the living room and 1 bedroom. Every time I called up, they told me they’d changed something and it should now work. It never did. I called them countless times and they never sorted it. Whatever you do, do not use this WiFi, pay a little more money and go somewhere reputable.

I am a post office colleague and I am on this bad broadband for last 4 years. The broadband speed is always very low. Due to the staff discount I was kept quiet and recently the network was very poor and couldn't able to watch a TV program even. Contacted the post office technical support team and the customer service was rubbish. The lady who spoken to me has to get some Customer service training. She wasn't ready to tell her name either. Lodged a complaint and no one contacted me yet.
Regarding the broadband they have asked us to do the many internal checks and we done everything. Every single time you call them They don't want to log in your account and see the notes and ask you to tell everything from the beginning (including they even ask you to do the internal checks without knowing why we are calling them this time)
Finally asked us to do the network speed test via their recommended website. Website says 2.1MBS only we gets and submitted. But CA keep in saying you are getting 4.76mbs and then I really don't know why they want us to do the speed check. When I was explaining to the CA he said they can do nothing about it and they can send an engineer but if any internal faults we have to pay £144. Ridiculous!
Now I have cancelled it and switched to an other network.
I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND TO ANYONE!

Absolutely awful. Contract ends in a few days and it couldn't come soon enough. Working from home has been almost impossible. The last month haven't been able to stream anything without constant buffering. Will never go with the post office again.

I wish I had read the reviews first, this is the worst broadband I have ever had. Constantly drops connection, if it connects at all in the first place. Customer service constantly deny there is any problem with them although it has always been fine with other providers. Last time I spoke with them they said I was wasting their time and would have to pay to get out of contract. Do not, under any circumstances use Post Office broadband, I can't wait for the 12 months to be up so I can get rid of it.

I am disgusted with the service we have received... I signed up to PO broadband in January, at first it seemed fine but we started having problems with the service after a couple of months. We tried all the things they advised to try and get a better reception but nothing really worked.
For the last month we have made endless calls as the WiFi kept coming on and off. For the last 2 weeks we have had no internet at all! Three times I’ve had appointment booked for the engineer to come into our home as the problem is from the inside. Three times no one has turned up, no explanation , and the last time today they even lied and said the appointment hadn’t been confirmed when I had actually received an email with a confirmation reference number sent on Thursday.
I would never recommend this service, and I shall be sending my router back with a very nasty letter of complaint ..

AVOID unless you have carrier pigeons as a back up.

I took their broadband offer of £15.90 a month 10 months ago and I can’t wait until I can bin it and go somewhere else, ANYWHERE else.
I moved to this “service” on the basis of cost because Sky who provided us with a brilliant service were going to bill me £29 a month which I thought was expensive.
SO …… where do I start? With Sky we were getting a consistent 8mb, with Post office, 4mb if we’re lucky and frequently not much quicker than ISDN.
When I queried this with their laughable “tech support”, I had some Dixon’s reject telling me that it was all down to “wireless interference” from outside of our property, i.e. a neighbor was causing the mayhem. Yes, really.
SO, for four consecutive nights I hauled myself out of bed at 4.am when all of my neighbours were fast asleep and guess what? No change at all.
THEN there are the multiple daily breaks in service and I do mean daily….and I do mean multiple.
In fact it broke for 10 minutes while I was trying to submit this review.
Anyway, we have two more months of the contract to run and if they paid ME to continue with it I wouldn’t touch it with a ten foot barge pole.

Diabolical service. Speed varies from 0.25mB to 6mb. had the engineer out over 6 times, he finds no fault! The line drops out every 10 minutes, with a 1-2 minutes wait to reconnect. To cap it all tonight I call them and 20 minutes later they still cannot confirm my account!
She insisted a line test wasn't possible from her end as I had to do it! I don't know how I would do that. I cannot tell you the trouble we've had with them. Do yourself a favour and use another ISP because these people are just the worst company I've ever dealt with in my life.

STAY AWAY! This is the worst broadband we have used! We have been with them 2 months now, worst mistake moving to these cowboys!
The speed is so slow and the broadband connection drops out multiple times a day for periods of time. No problems with our previous supplier.
The customer service is total dog ****. They have now sold the service to Shell Fuel! The service couldn't get any worse.
I would give them 0 stars if i could.

Read the other reviews BEFORE you do anything, then go with anyone except these clowns. If you want dial-up speed and dropped connections you won't be dissappointed. Customer service is a joke and they lie, 2 engineers visits booked and when no-one showed they tell me they weren't booked - if you are a customer and want out complain to Meredith Sharples (look on ceo email for email address) then you will get to speak to someone in authority, once they go thru the motions ask them to send you a pre paid envelope for the return of the router, then tell them you have cancelled the direct debit and you look forward to the county court appearance before a judge to hear your evidence - it worked for me leaving the contract early, with compensation and no final bill. Hope this helps

Left Plusnet to try the Post Office not realising it was a front for Talk Talk. My download sync speed has dropped by 35% and my connection drops several times a day, often in quick succession, an issue I never experienced with Plusnet. I deeply regret getting sucked in by the cheap deal on offer, it genuinely wouldn't be worth it even for free. To top it all off, their call centre staff think they're clever and try to troll you until they discover that you have a record feature on your phone, at which point they become terrified and hang up, knowing that they've just incriminated themselves by being deliberately obtuse in order to deflect responsibility and making asinine statements in order to antagonise the customer. I have the mp3s to prove it.

Joined the 15.90 per month plan and 24hrs after my 'go live' do date am still waiting for my broadband and phone to go live.
On phoning customer service they said there had been some kind of mix-up but couldn't actually explain what the problem was and advised that it could be a further 24hrs before service commenced.
Furthermore, on signing up to the deal they added a 10.00 set-up fee which was not part of the plan I signed up to and they only cancelled it when I complained.
With regards to customer service actually getting through to someone was relatively quick (about 10mins) but the tone of the customer service agent was unfriendly and, as they couldn't in fact tell me what the problem was, unhelpful.
Will see if my initial experience of Post Office Broadband improves but so far I have nothing to recommend about it and, as yet...no broadband!!!

Receiving 0.5mb/s and support tell me this is what is being payed for and there’s no problem even though the package is advertised as 11mb. Extremely reluctant to look into the line or settings. Infact say they cannot change settings thier end. The only broadband supplier that I’ve come across that are unable to do this. Go with talk talk, it’s cheaper, faster and has better support. Sadly I’m not the account holder in this situation, I can only advise the oap’s to switch as they are getting mugged off by the post office.

Absolutely appalling service. I waited in 8am-1pm as per the slot I booked for the installation and had a voicemail at 1.20pm saying it would have to be rescheduled. When I tried calling to re-arrange, I was on hold for almost 2 hours with no luck. Finally got through the next day to be told the next available date was 2 weeks later leaving me without internet access. Customer service was poor and so I have cancelled the contract before it even started, which again caused a load a hassle. I don't normally write reviews but felt I had to in order to warn others thinking if going with them. Don't do it!!!

On 3rd July I received an email from them informing me that I now had a post office broadband contract, with no further explanation. This made me think I had been the target of ID fraud, and I rang them in a state of concern.

It was explained to me that POBroadband had bought Fuel Broadband, and I was informed that my monthly bill with you would be £30 a month. I objected to this, as my bill with Fuel had been £17 a month and felt it was unreasonable that they had bought Fuel and instantly added £13 on to their customers bills, and the only notice given was an email informing me that I had a new contract with them. At the end of the day I had an existing contract with a company they have purchased that they are now unwilling to fulfill.

After some debate it was agreed my bill would now be £20 a month. On 5th August I was sent my bill, and it was £22.50, as a £2.50 call bundle had inexplicably been added on, despite the agent having been told that I had no landline.

I called today to get this amended, and the first person I spoke to fobbed me off and then put the phone down on me. I called back, and while being on hold again I logged into my account and looked at the terms on there, somewhat annoyed that I appear to not only to have been transferred onto a new contract where I pay more, but now also have a contract with a company with very poor customer service, where my every contact with you to date has been entirely unsatisfactory.

On the website in the account details section it shows a summary of my package. I noted that here it states that under the terms of this package I get a free wireless router.

On asking about this (after sorting out the initial charging issues) I was told that I am not a new customer, as I have transferred from Fuel Broadband. I pointed out that I was on a new contract, so therefore I am a new customer, and I am certainly a new customer of your company having had no dealings with you until a week ago. At the end of the day if Fuel Broadband customers were existing customers then surely we should have had the existing terms of our contract honoured. It seems we are new customers when it suits PO Broadband, but not treated as well as other new customers who you give the free router too!

Incidentally, I also noted that on Comparethemarket.com they show up at the £20 rate, so its a pretty cheeky company policy to make Fuels customers pay £30 and then have to call you to reduce it... and argue like hell to get it down to the £20 they offer other new customers.

I was placed on hold 4 times as I went though all manner of departments for an hour, each time having to explain all this again and again, but ultimately to be told their company policy is we are not new customers (just new contracts) and therefore we get no free router... despite it saying we do on the account details page of the website. I was then told that this would be passed on to someone who could make a decision on this matter, as to whether as a gesture of good will to a very dissatisfied new/switched customer a new router could be sent out.

I received a call from someone in technical support who had been told none of this , and when it was raised gave me the same drivel about Fuel customers not getting new routers as we're not new customers by whatever backwards logic the (cost-saving) company uses to make its policies.

He told me all I could do was email support, which is what I did.

I was then called back 4 days later and told that I would be sent a free router as gesture of goodwill.

However, I was then billed £29.16 for this 'free' router, which the company is refusing to to pay back, and every agent I speak too just tells me that they do not do free routers and that this is the charge for a router, and they cannot refund it. They also say I have noew accepted the contract and cannot cancel for 18 months.

I have therefore not only been charged for something that was promised for free, but also have been duped into entering an 18 month contract I do not wish to be in, with a company with the worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life. I am now considering legal action, and would advise everyone to steer clear of PO Broadband.

Put it one way my mobile data on 1 bar with only the h plus sign is faster than this crappy Internet, it works but even to upload Netflix takes forever, wish I had stayed with BT they're a lot faster, post office is a joke, you get what you pay for.

Service is unbelievably poor. We are literally talking 100k to 300k download speeds and highly frequent timeouts on upload and download. Technical team are rude, provided misleading information and did not resolve any issues, apparently they will 'try' to submit a ticket, haven't heard back from them in weeks. DO NOT USE THE POST OFFICE FOR ANYTHING. THEY ARE A 3RD TIER RESELLER. THEY ARE RESELLING THE RESELLERS SERVICE, TalkTalk. Save yourself the hassle and spend a tiny bit more money to get a service that you won't regret engaging with. Am putting full complaint to execs of Post Office as it is a disgrace they can continue to sell services that they can not deliver and talk to their customers in a rude and aggressive manner.

If I could give 0 stars I would. Left my provider 1 month early and incured a charge. Signed up through topcashback online for broadband due to start 31.1.20. On 31st No internet no router received? Contacted them told me I only signed up for phone? I have evidence to the contrary
I was told to call back on the 1st feb as they where unable to put it through. I called back and told someone would call me back? No call back. Again 4th Feb promised a call back from complaints team? No call back. I cancelled before it started and went with another provider.post office is a Very unprofessional company.

I hadn't actually signed up for PO Broadband, and having read this I am not going to - I was desperate to leave TalkTalk, no technical problems (fortunately) though I dread to think what it might be like as TT were a nightmare when my elderly mother moved, and also when we changed BB provider from TT at work.

Don't bother taking out broadband by post office in a word it is shocking. Changed to Po from plusnet last November from beginning my speed dropped to dial up equivalent and has never improved after many complaints etc jumping through hoops for po sending them speed checks there response was fault laid with my house! Bearing in mind with plusnet the internet worked fine I've not moved and not even brought any new devices this is the biggest load of Rubbish p ever heard. What the po long term goals are is beyond me as I and every other customer will leave at the end of my contract (they won't let u leave early even when they are not delivering what they promised! And will never use this firm again and of course I advise anyone never to use them. How this is good business sense is beyond me and I truely hope they end this part of there business soon as they do not have any ability to offer a broadband service

Post office broadband promised 5-7Mbps for my location and I did get that, between 3 and 6 in the morning, in the evening it went to the dizzying heights of 0.2!
Every time I rang customer services was in hold for at least 30 mins before I got to speak to a person and no-one seemed interested, they just kept telling me to do speed tests and that my speed might be all the line can handle!
Finally got through to someone useful who told me the customer retentions number (020 3747 1439) and after moaning at someone there I have got out of my 18 month contract with no charges and just received a refund of the years line rental I paid, back to BT for me, they might be more money but I never had a problem with them before!

I am on my 2nd month with PO Broadband and can't wait to switch to another provider.

Gone downhill after the 14-day cooling period with extremely slow speed and cuts off constantly. Can't even browse the internet properly. I end up having to use my phone as hotspot most of the time.

Contacted them numerous time but getting nowhere. Phone them today at 20/04/2020 and got cut off twice after providing all my details.

You won't believe it can be that bad until you joined PO Broadband.

I could think of absolutely nothing positive to say about the service I have had from post office.
I have had download speed tests carried out on the line and have experienced average download speed of 0.15 mbs. Which actually makes it slower in real terms than the first dial up modem I had in the late 90's. When confronted about it they basically said that they could not guarantee any more than 1mbs anyway but if I paid £145 they would happily send an engineer round. Although they admitted they would not do anything about it anyway so whats the point?
    USELESS!

From the outset of my broadband order this has been a comedy of errors, why I ever decided to stick with it I don't know. Perhaps it was their degree of flexibility over the term time and the ability to leave after three months without incurring any termination fees as I was already a landline customer. The landline service was pretty good.

Communication from Post Office is simply diabolical. They simply don't have the decency or energy to follow it through. It took approx 6 weeks to get my home connected and in the end I decided against it. Not even was the router delivered on time.

Communication is their BIG downfall, no one knows who anyone is; they don't follow requests through, you have to chase it.

While the prices may seem attractive especially if you have their landline service, don't expect a sterling service with broadband connection if your experience any difficulties.

I cancelled the broadband service altogether and the landline will be going soon as well. They now wish to chase me for cancellation fees after all of the difficulties I have experienced.

Unfortunately their brand has been severely damaged as a result of this and I see Post Office as a wide range provider of different services. The small independent shop owners with post office counters will suffer even more because of comments of poor service from utilities like this. Best avoided if you can.
