Well I've noted there are some reviewers that appear to have been less than satisfied, not me! I converted (after some consideration) from Sky to TalkTalk, as my monthly bill was a little less than £90 inc Sports. One of my more astute decisions... everything went as clockwork. My broadband speed is three times faster, I can still record, from my new TalkTalk box. I have so many channels, I'm still spoilt for choice (OK less the Sport) all for £35 a month. The icing on the cake was receiving a substantial wad of 'Love2Shop' vouchers. 10/10 from me.

I've heard such awful things about Talktalk customer service I was dreading contacting them when both our landline and broadband went dead. Contacted them Thursday afternoon, the Automated service took the details, reported the fault and diverted all landline calls to mobile phone. Rang yesterday, automated service apologised that a fault had been detected on the line and an engineer had been alerted, might need access to the house - they'd text/ ring us to let us know. Engineer came this morning - all fixed. GREAT service NO complaints, Well done Talktalk Delighted :)

Been with talk talk some years now, decided to switch to fibre with some trepidation.Could not find a good review for fibre broadband, but decided to go ahead and order. Was informed of my switch over date. The new router arrived before the switch over date.I installed the router and waited for the switch over date, this happened and now i am enjoying good speeds of 38mpbs against the original speed of 1.9mpbs.Not as fast as virgin but well impressed. Only gripe was they charged me £6 something to deliver the modem.up to press no problems with the reliability

Was promised minimum 25mbps but my line can only handle 15mbps. Talktalk handled this well, giving me a discount and they have handled all of my other queries perfectly so far. Very pleased

Moved to TT from BT and the whole process was totally painless. Speeds are identical to BT (which aren't great, but proximity to the box is an issue). Router arrived as promised and was a doddle to set up. All in all - one month in - I'm very pleased.

I have just switched from BT to Talk Talk, after more than 20 years of being a BT customer. I had the superfast BB with the smart hub, which worked fine, no problem. only switched as the price hikes were crippling. So, placed the order to switch using the u-switch website, £70 argos voucher as an incentive, price was great, and opted for the full package. All arrived as scheduled, email on day of switch came through while i was at work, and when i came home, sure enough, my BT hub was flashing orange, and I set up the talk talk hub and tv box, with great ease, all instructions were idiot proof, so made the job a breeze.
I have only rated customer sevice with 3 stars, as i have not had to contact directly, but sure that if i had they would have gained a 5 also.
The connection is by far quicker than the connection i was getting from BT and half the price for the same package.
Thank you Talk Talk for making this a stress free experience.

I've been with TalkTalk ever since they existed and while they've had their moments, overall I've few complaints. For at least the past few years they've actually been extremely good and reliable with a speed usually around 35Mbps.
About the only thing that lets them down is their new lousy email page - it's both archaic and awkward to my mind. (Their old one wasn't much better either, to be honest)
Customer service is fairly hard to get hold of but they've been able to sort out the few problems that I've encountered without delay or question.
Overall I, personally, would rate their services as being at least as good as I can expect from any IPS.

I have been with talktalk for 6 or 7 years hand on heart no problem ever. Strange no-one leaves a good feedback.
I got currently Basic landline (because we don't use it for calls have unlimited on mobile) + fibre optic 38Mb/s download and 2Mb/s upload net averages about 20Mb/s peak times down to 6-8 Mb/s not peak times up to 35Mb/s + talktalk TV (basic I don't pay for TV packages). Never any issue always reliable working. Sometimes lost connection to rooter (1 -2 times a month) simply switch rooter off - on and works again perfectly.
However considering to move on to BT only because they are really cheaper right now and offers me same phone (basic) 54Mb/s download and 16Mb/s upload (can be handy when I sometimes upload many Gig data).
On this side have been looking at reviews of BT and all crap same like for TalkTalk. Now I don't know if these reviews are true because I'm overall happy TalkTalk customer for years.
Maybe happy customers are not reviewing only who has a problem open their mouth.

We have been with TalkTalk for over 8 years, in 2 properties. I can say that the contracted speeds are nearly always maintained and their service is excellent.
The only problems we have is that (1) the Customer Service staff on the phone seems like they cannot deviate from their contact script and quite often English must not be their first language. However, over the years I have found that the best way to contact them is through the on-line chat. It gives both sides time to think what needs to be communicated without getting heated. (2) We live on the sea front and the Openreach distribution point gets the very strong winds and rain which have been known to disrupt the service.
I lost the Internet completely at the beginning of July 2020 and an Openreach Engineer was round two days after reporting the fault (on the Friday). He said that the fault was in the overhead phone line and would be back the next Monday to replace the line. He couldn't do it there and then as it was a two man job. The phone line was replaced with minimum mess and disruption.
    Well done TalkTalk and Openreach.

Since my review and comments on here, i have had a Mr David Quinn from Talk Talk contact me and resolve my issue.
He uderstood and symphamised with the problems i had been having with the company.
No disrespct to the agency team, or any prejudice, but it was comforting to speak to someone who actually was not talking from a scripted screen.

To be honest. Any company that you go with is going to have issues . I've had talk talk for about 4 years and only had one problem. I might be lucky but I will say when I had my problem it was on a weekend. They really need a 7 days a week customer service line

Having changed from BT last month I am happy with all aspects of the service so far from TalkTalk. The line is very stable, as it was with BT, but my speed is now 2.6 Mbps down and 0.5 Mbps up compared to between 1.4 and 1.9 Mbps down and 0.25 - 0.35 up with BT.
My attenuation is 61dB (4.3 km from exchange)with a SNR of between 2dB and 3dB (was the same with BT but with lower speed).
dependent on time of day - but the line is always stable and has never dropped out during normal operations.
The line mode is G.Dmt ADSL and I have asked TalkTalk to switch me to ADSL2+ to see if there is a small improvement in speed (distance from exchange could make this improvement marginal but it's worth a try).
Please note that the rating above relating to speed is not a criticism of TalkTalk but just a fact of life based on the length of the line!
In addition to a much lower price than BT charged, BT's service was limited to 10GB - TalkTalk's service provides for unlimited data. Other telephone charges are similar (£8.00 all in for Anytime Calls and Unlimited Broadband plus an annual line rental of £120, paid up front)
The only misgivings I had before changing, which actually caused me to hesitate, was the lack of trust I had in the sales people with whom I spoke to at TalkTalk - their technical knowledge was extremely limited and this led to them giving me information that I knew to be incorrect. In the end, I put this down to ignorance rather than any attempt to intentionally mislead and made the choice to switch to TalkTalk on the basis of a recommendation from a neighbour with similar technical knowledge to myself and on whom I knew I could rely.
Initially TalkTalk set my speed lower than it was with BT but I spoke to a technical engineer who increased it to 2.17 Mbps (IP throughput) and via my new Billion 7800DXL Router I've tweaked the SNR from 6 dB (target SNR) to 3 dB to improve the speed to 2.6 Mbps (3040 Mbps at the router).
I'm very happy so far with the service from TalkTalk.

Been with this company for around 18 months, recently made changes to my bill and had to have someone sent out to fix my broadband. I spend many hours on the phone to several operators and all of them were extremely helpful, every issue I had was dealt professionally and urgently. Also had no issues changing my price plan as I was struggling with my bills, really happy with the service they have provided so far.

Been with talk talk a few times over the years as they offer good deals and have generally had few problems with them. Broadband reliability has been fine in my experience with a few hiccups but always been able to get through to talk to an adviser on the phone. Advisers generally polite and helpful but a couple of times they have messed up processing my request and had to get in contact with another adviser to sort out the issue. Speed's been good since on fibre.

Having seen all the bad press about TalkTalk, I am a little surprised to admit that for me, actually its been a good service. Reliability has been very good (compared to previously VirginMedia) drop outs have been almost non-existent, help desk has been easy to get through to and pretty responsive. Phone service has been fine. Nuff said...?

Like many of the other providers listed on here, TalkTalk got a panning (see below) but I chose to go with them due to fact that there was not much between TT and the other providers in terms of customer reviews, and I could pay my line rental up front which, in my current situation, was ideal. £3.50 per month for broad band is a steal. I know the speeds are not lightning quick but if you want super fast speeds then pay extra for Fibre Optic. As my new flat is fairly small, I knew I was never going to be far from the router, which may help, and I always seem to have 4 or 5 bars. No issues so far.

I had a slight issue with my router being delivered to my new flat before I had moved in but I can't ascertain whether that was my errors or their's; however, After sending an email I received a prompt reply informing me to contact Royal Mail to arrange a redelivery, which I did. I had no issues with the go live date and was able to connect straight away. Some videos have been slow buffering but, as I said, I knew about the speeds beforehand and it's not been a major issue.

Just had the engineer this morning from talktalk he was a lovely friendly guy. He arrived a lot earlier than expected. Which was good for me. He helped solve my problem and tested everything. Unfortunately it needed a open reach engineer which he sorted straight away. Got me an appointment this afternoon. All up and running now thanks to two very friendly engineers. Happy lady now. Thank you so much. Mel

So I am going to break down my so far a "brief" experience with Talk Talk Broadband so far.

HOW I GOT A TALK TALK CONNECTION:

My wife & me, we purchased a new house and we needed a Fridge to store all the food. So one fine Saturday (21st of April), we walk in to our local Curry's PC World and select a Kenwood Fridge Freezer (quite a huge for a £300 refrigerator). We got it for a 6 months interest free finance since we are a young couple completely broke after having our savings all gone on the mortgage deposit. So after filling all the forms related to the finance option for purchasing the fridge, the sales adviser gets the hint that we moved into a new property so she asked if we have a broadband connection already. Reluctantly, but yet honestly, I say NO (because I knew she would try to sell me something that I didn't want to buy). Hearing that, she offered to checks what broadband was best for the area I live in. After running some checks and the internet calculating some algorithms, she says Talk Talk was offering the best deal for a couple (who aren't heavy internet users) living in a house for £25/month (24 months contract) for Faster Fibre Broadband. I am still reluctant since I already knew Virgin Fibre Broadband is the best internet provider in the U.K and I was planning to get one once we moved into our new property. But then, the sales adviser (I wish I knew her name because I am thankful to her and I will reveal as to why in a while) tells me that if we get this broadband, we would be eligible for a £50 Curry's PC World Voucher. (WooHoo!! I like free vouchers) I look at my wife. She knows I want to use that voucher when I buy a new computer. The look she gives me, I knew she wants to use that to buy a new washing machine. Lol. Nevertheless, Free Voucher. I'm in. I sign up for Talk Talk Fibre Broadband (Faster version).

    THE WAIT:

So we move in to our new house with no internet (26th April). I check my letter box, and I see a letter from Talk Talk stating that I would be receiving my Wifi Router in a couple of days before my Go Live date of; 4th of May [midnight] (May the 4th Be with You). I check my remaining H3G (Three) 3G data. I have around 2GB or data remaining until my monthly allowance gets renewed. I will have to subsidize my usage until then. My wife checks her remaining allowance, her's is better but she is an "Instagram-er" so I tell her to limit her usage until we get the connection.

    April, 30th

We get our Wifi Router in a neat little box. We are anxious. We are low on data. I have 1.5 GB remaining while my wife has message from H3G saying she has 600 MB remaining. I suggest my wife we contact the customer service to see if we could get the Go Live date pushed a bit earlier than the 4th of May. I ask her to call the customer services number (She is more confident on the phone while I am with the keyboards). After dialing the numbers, and dialing some more as per the automated voice instructions within the calls, my wife gets put through to an operator (I will not mention his name because my wife thinks he might get in trouble if Talk Talk reads my review) who says his work is based in South Africa who also happens to be of Indian origin (My Wife & Me were born and brought up in India as well) so this chap starts to be friendly and starts talking about India and he mentions how he thinks a lot of people in the UK are addicted to internet. (LOL) And says he would endeavour to get our go live date forward.

    May, 2nd

My wife's 3G Data is exhausted and will only be replenished after a fortnight.
I check my data, 800 MB remaining, I am confident, I will survive.

May, 3rd (The Internet is Tomorrow)

I check www.bbc.co.uk like I usually do. According to a survey, they say, Talk Talk is the worst. Damn it. I am worried now. I go online to see how customer's felt about the service. So I am here in this very site; lots and lots of negative review with occasional 5 Stars review. But I am aware that only people with bad experience tend to voice their experience while the people who have had good experience don't really bother putting up their review. Gosh!! lots of bad reviews. I see that the broadband speed depends upon how far we live from the Telephone Exchange. I quickly check how far do I live from my local telephone exchange. I happen to be 3.1 miles away according to Google Maps. I don't know whether that is good or bad. Well, I guess we will just have to wait and watch.

We are back home after work. It is 7 pm. I set up the router to console my data hungry wife. I tell her that she can use the Wifi first thing in the morning (as tomorrow on the 3rd of May would be 4th, the internet day). It was quite an easy installation. Clear instruction on the Box. I switch the router on. Lights start to blink. Yada yada yada. Easy Peasy. I offer to set up the Wifi password on my wife's OnePlus 5 phone. I input the password and hand over the phone to her.

After a long day, I lay on the bed contemplating the movies I would watch online, the TV series that I have missed out, the songs I would listen; my wife storms in the room with a glow on her face up and starts jumping around (I've never seen her happier than that other than the time I bought her hamburger back in 2014 when she had no money. She says she is connected to internet. I don't believe her. She connects her phone to our Anker Sound Core Bluetooth Speakers (got it off Amazon for £30. Pretty good product for that price) and plays the song "Simsime Pani" by VTEN on YouTube.
I jump around with her while she dance to the song. Hahaha. It was fun.

Our internet connection went live before the estimated date/time. We are overjoyed. I run a speedtest on speedtest.net, I get a 35 mbps down speed with 9 mbps up speed with 15 on ping. Happy with the result, I take a screenshot of the result, post it up on Facebook. Happy. Happy. After a minute; *Ting I get a first Facebook notification using Talk Talk. I see that a friend from Romania replied to my post with a screenshot of his broadband speed. Frigging 125 mbps download speed. Who requires that kinda speed??? He tells me he pays €10 for his internet. Sigh!! I guess it is true, when you get something good, someone else will always have something better. LOL.

Thank You little lady from the Curry's PC World for convincing me to get Talk Talk internet. I hope you received some kinda commission from Talk Talk for selling me their product.

It was quite a long wait from the 21st April until 3rd of May but nevertheless, I happy with the speed so far.

    May, 4th

    (email received 3 am)
Talk Talk: You broadband is Live. Lol.
The email states that the internet speed is supposedly going to get even better over the next 10 days period. We shall see. If shall post a review again if I get a reason to become unhappy. But ya, so far, so good.

In short, so far so good. Best deal for the price. Decent customer service. Overall satisfaction after using it for about couple of hours after going live, Great. £600 for two year for no set up fee. That's not bad at all.

Have been with talktalk for the past 6 years ,and upgraded to fibre medium 2 years ago .must say I have been very happy with there service.speeds are what they promised and find there broadband very reliable.Looking at the other reviews on here I'm shocked that so many other customers have had such bad experiences .looks like broadband is a bit of a lottery great when it goes well but a nightmare when it doesn't .

I've been with TT for a lot of years now and find it good value. Once upgrading to medium fibre I get 36mbps download and 2meg upload. My only gripe really is I expected more than 2 meg upload but 36mbps is great for HD on the Youview box with no buffering. Emails also the odd time have problems retrieving but this doesn't occur all the time. Generally a very stable connection with a great range super router. Customer service is poor offshore but if you complain like I once did on their survey email they quickly get a UK office to call you who are ace and know their stuff.

Never had any issues with Talktalk for speed or reliability but recently their broadband has become more expensive than other providers and they are pushing their TV service on customers that dont even want the TV box. They gave me a box last year that I didn't want and its still collecting dust.

Awful company... do not touch them, their customer service skills are non existent and they are holey incompetent.

We moved house after our contract with talktalk ended and switched to virgin, everything was fine until 3 months down the line we get letter from a bailiff saying we owe talktalk £96.... after several hours on the phone with them and trying to explain that we had cancelled I eventuality got through to a manager who said that because I hadn't 'officially' cancelled there was nothing he could do. I had informed them that I wanted to cancel using the online chat service and my request was kindly accepted by the customer service agent I was chatting to!

Despite all this they still maintain I had to pay but agreed to reduce the fee by £20 as they could see that a mistake had been made on their behalf.....

I would strongly advice anyone to stay well away from this cowboy outfit.

been with these for many years, however they keep on jacking the price for broadband up,this happens when I take a new "contract" with them. Very poor customer service, they dont listen! Also loads of nuisance and scam calls.
The third time they breached their contract I changed to another ISP, now they got the cheek to ask for over £300 because they broke the"contract"
When asked for proof that a contract had existed they failed to give any details, now I get threatening letters because I wont pay for a non existant service. NEVER HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THIS SHAMBLES OF AN ISP

Worst customer service EVER. My details had been hacked BEFORE the big scandal and when I phoned TT they couldn't have cared less but very apologetic once it made the news. No end of trouble getting the billing clarified and correct and the final icing on their crapulent cake is that my final bill is in credit and rather than pay me back the money they incorrectly took off me I HAVE TO REQUEST IT!!! Nice one TT, and I hope you not expecting me to recommend you - I won't be.

Been with Talk Talk for about 2 months now. Just the standard broadband. The actual download speed is pretty good, always between 1.8 - 1.4 mbs. Which is better than I have had from any other provider.
But the upload speed is poor at 0.3 - 0.5mbs. The internet does cut out a couple of times a week though which can be very annoying if playing online, but this seems to be the case for me with any provider.
I have not had to contact customer support so I can't comment on that.

I would recommend Talk Talk with my experience so far though. Good price and good download speed. No sign of being really slowed down either.

Didn't actually go with TalkTalk as before the switch Virgin phoned me up with an offer which I couldn't refuse as I had been a very loyal customer. Also my wife was not happy about the switch to TalkTalk given their reputation. However, I found their sales snd cancellation staff in the main friendly and professional.

I haven't had too many problems with Talktalk apart from the much publicised lack of security for my data. That being said, I've just subscribed to their fibre broadband. I wasn't too impressed at first as I was supposed to be getting up to 70mb/sec download speed and it appeared that I was only getting half that. However when I installed my own modem the download speed jumped to 65mb/sec. Much better - however lesson for all, don't use talkTalks crappy cheap modem - get your own. FYI, the one I chose was the Netgear AC1600/D6400 ADSL/VDSL modem.

Hiked the prices which was a big disappointment, but the connection never dropped out and was consistent in speed.
