Frankly fed up with this company. CUSTOMER SERVICE is not the worse that I have had- obviously I have been to petrol stations late at night- however it's not far off. When you phone up to complain about a fault, you are told that they will investigate (after a bloody age on the phone) then never hear back from them- and your internet still sucks.

BROADBAND SPEED I feel I have to give them 5* for this as the 3.4Mb/s that we occasionally peak at is close to the terrible max speed available due to the archaic technology that BT employ in rural areas (yet BT still charge you phone rental as if you are getting 21st century service... FML). The main problem with the quality of the inter net is the...

BROADBAND RELIABILTY is absolutely appalling!! As previously mentioned, you may get the max speed, but not for long. our speed drops to 0 fairly often, although this is the max speed we can expect at times apparently LOL. Ping, checked using speedtest by ookla, hovers between 55 and 925ms. Which is awesome.

Honestly recomend staying away from these people as they care little for their customers, and the quality you get is just plain bad. Television was so bad we gave up after the second day. On the bright side, the phone works... so YAY?

I wish to inform you that your router is shi#e,
To connect to the Internet can take all night,
The service you provide is a bit hit and miss,
As an Internet service provider you're taking the p#ss,
You excel in the service you provide for my phone
However I don't have that service alone,
The last number barring and caller display,
Are brilliant services for which I don't have to pay,
The poor service of the Internet is such a shame,
Which in my opinion is the router to blame,
My patience has been tested every day that I try,
The times that I have said "It's like watching paint dry,"
I'm going to have to leave you and go elsewhere,
Until you sort out the problems with your hardware.

I'm with Sky, an elderly friend is with Talk Talk & has been for years. She decided to join Sky after financial circumstances changed and got a cheaper and better deal. However, once she went to cancel Talk Talk, they slapped her with over £100 bill due to cancelling her contract early. Unknown to her she had signed for a 2 year TV contract 18 months ago!! Also late last year, her outside telephone line snapped at the pole in the street. BT Openreach did the repair. Talk Talk then billed her £50 for work which they said was done inside the house ! There was NO work done inside the house ! On her behalf & with her permission I contacted Talk Talk, complained about both incidents and they waived both of the charges ! (After an hour and a half on the 'phone !!) Talk Talk may be the cheapest, but you get what you pay for ! For balance - Talk Talk did apologise for the billings and said that they should not have been made. They apologised to her.

Paying for Superfast plus extra for boost and getting 53mps not 76mps. Being charged £10.75 monthly for phone SIM previously cancelled and getting a thoroughly unhelpful and nasty toned "customer service" female telling me I'm a liar - and after spending 16 mins wait.

I had never had to phone their customer service on the 4 years I was with them, but I've been trying to cancel my broadband due to moving house. First time phoned 6 weeks ago. After a frustrating conversation, I thought I had cancelled. Until I realised I had been charged again and my account online was still active. I was on the phone for 1 h next time, passed on to "the right department" 5 times. Obviously, each time having to explain and repeat the security answers. Finally, they raised it to a supervisor as they could not click cancel because the key was grey. True or maybe blocked by something done on my first phone call, I don't know. I don't even know if my contract has been terminated. I can't cancel my direct debit as then I'd be at fault. Meanwhile, I'll have to waste another hour in 4 days time to confirm a cancellation I thought was processed a few weeks ago, possibly be charged for something I don't use until my contract runs out in June.

Overall I have had a very bad experience with talk talk. My Internet connection is unreliable and not that fast. I have spoken to customers service in two occasions. On the first occasion the service was discusting and on the second occasion was nice enough. I tell most people I know not to join talk talk and can't wait for my contract to end

Affordable, broadband works fine, phone works fine, TV works fine. Only problem is never have a phone contracted to them!! If you decide to cancel it and pay it all off they disconnect your wifi, which means you can't connect to any wifi anywhere! They were charging us £10 for 500mb and paying the phone off, but mum cancelled it and moved to giffgaff for a better price. Even though she paid all the contract off they disconnected her wifi so she has to have unlimited mobile data. Such a joke. Customer service useless too! 'we can disconnect your phone but can't connect it back to the wifi.' Joke.

Firstly if I could give 0 stars I would the only redeeming factor of this company is a man I spoke to on 08000491402 at 1418 Tuesday 5th of September postcode KY129QT (incase talk talk read this review)
I am a 21 year old with autism and struggling with social situations and my carer usually deals with things like this for me but when I decided to call talk talk today as I had sold my property back in April of this year i attempted to cancelled my account I phoned on 3 occasions to have this done and on the second last time I paid 138.46£ and that was to close my account. This was in may. My credit score had been ruined as they failed to tell me about another payment that had to be made (which I didn't find out until later on the last call) so as I phone today on +443451720088 here I spoke to a woman at1404, was the rudest most unhelpful and hostile person I have ever spoken to on a customer service line for any company, refused to let me speak to someone else/manager Inpplied I was a lair and said that my account wasn't closed (which was confirmed but the second man that it was) and I hadn't paid what I needed to pay. - an additional charge that wasn't explained on the original call of the 138.46£ payment. Because of her I will never use or recommd talk talk to anyone ever again.which is a shame as the man who did help me was the loveliest and most helpful person ever and was very patient as at this point I was upset and crying. I accept my wrong doings as I swore but this was after the abuse I had already received over the phone that got me to that point. I'll not be back.

Shockingly bad customer service: unprofessional, opaque, obstructive, unhelpful, unreliable, and untruthful….I could go on but you get the picture.

Really, how long does it take to notify the person you’re communicating with that you’ll not be renewing the contract, which is on a set date. Should be minutes right?
Yet at least 3.5 hours total combined on chat and on the phone over a couple of days (March & April), with them repeating the same script and applying the same shenanigans is quite frankly underhand, as well as unkind. And at the end of all that, still no definitive “I can confirm that’s now done for you, thanks for having chosen talktalk, we’re sorry to see you go, but please do consider us again in the future”, or words to that effect; just basic decency.

All I wanted to do was not renew my contract. I’m not with anyone else, and their hardware’s been sitting there all boxed up ready for them to send me the returns bag. Let’s see if that does happen.

I’ve given 1 star as their shameful behaviour during those ‘customer service’ encounters overrides everything else.

New customer , didnt work after installation, huge number of phone calls to support, who were clearly not authorised to make any decisions. After two months It was finally fixed( connection not made correctly at the external cabinet to the Fibre link , so i am told!), So after some , and appro 4 hour son the phone, to many many Customer Reps, the situation is resolved, Not a company I would recommend, , find somebody local and small!!, pay the bit extra for better and more personalised service,

Generally average - reliability is probably the worst aspect of using TalkTalk for broadband. There are regular outages, more so than other providers I've used in the past.

Speeds are average, coverage/range is okay (though we've switched to our own Mesh System to cover three floors) and customer service had generally been lackluster when we've needed it.

The only positive is that there service was reasonably cheap when we signed up. I guess you get what you pay for...

The actual service has never been a problem. But holy moly. Moved address and was given the worst customer service I have ever experienced. A company this large, with Trista Harrison at the helm should be ashamed of how they talk to people. Someone needs to grip this entire environment. To have customers told they will get what they are given is insanely ridiculous. To have another operator laugh at the problems you are experiencing is down right abuse. Absolutely shocked. Avoid it like the plague.

Customer support is poor and after spending over 2 hours with Customer Support I still can not get on my email. after 4 days on enquiringly about my problem I was told its noted as solved? Talktalk are updating their security and have removed options to change passwords via Myaccount and recovery email options. Disgraceful service and badly organised. 5 days without email to be told they don't charge for email so no compensation for 5 days without email service.

Speed slows RIGHT down at about 3:00PM weekdays and stays like that until about 11:00PM. Particularly frustrating if trying to work from home, as practically you can't connect to external servers past mid afternoon onwards for any workable speed.
Call centres are and have been for years foreign, every time it's someone with a VERY strong Indian accent, who is often difficult to understand.
I had to change routers, and went through 3 weeks of hell. Basically they had me dismantling the socket cover to check the connection, the router was stated as faulty TWICE and replaced twice, and I made countless phone calls to said call centres, who seemed to have no real record of my problem, followed a script, and every call went through countless questions and requests to try something I'd been asked to do many times before on other calls. All attempts to explain this fell on deaf hears. Only when I complained vigorously and threatened to cancel did an English manager phone back, listened to me, made a technical suggestion and problem solved - all in under 10 minutes. Pray nothing goes wrong. Otherwise you'll be dealing with their customer helpline and that's a whole pile of hurt you don't want to experience.
I did have one laugh though. One explanation tot he fault was put down to the length of the copper phone wire and the distance to the exchange. The Indian customer helpline person had no answer when I pointed out I actually live next door to the telephone exchange.
Don't be tempted by low costs. As the saying goes, you pay for what you get.

I'd read some poor reviews of Talk Talk's customer service, but it seemed that the majority of these issues were a few years ago so decided to take up their service, sadly I was wrong.
After looking at some broadband and TV packages, I was pushed through to the TalkTalk sales portal and given a number to call. After discussing the package I'd chosen with the sales staff and importantly reiterated the channel selection for confirmation, I made my purchase. Two weeks later approximately, the service was set up only for me to discover a number of the channels I'd ordered were not available. After a call to customer service I was told these channels were not on the plan I had and would require me to pay more to upgrade, they also told me that as this was a third party site they had no control over what was put up. A comment I rebuked by informing him I was pushed through to the TalkTalk website and had verbalised this with one of the Talk Talk sales team (not a very customer centric method of dealing with the complaint). I was deeply disatisfied with this answer and asked to make a formal complaint and was assured of being called from the CEO's office (really?) within 5 working days. After day 6, I called back and was told in no uncertain terms that the offer would not be given as discussed. End of discussion. At this point I decided to cancel my service with them immediately.
My only recommendation is to be crystal clear if purchasing by phone as mis selling is still present in the market place, and other than a complaint to Ofcom, you have little immediate recourse outside of your initial 14 day cooling off period. There is plenty of content online, so please educate yourself before taking out a plan. Poor form Talk Talk

For anyone who is thinking of taking up the offer of Fibre To The Premises - let me share my experience of incompetence and unacceptable customer support from Talktalk.

In November 2023 I signed up to Talktalk full fibre 150 with VoIP - The initial, agreed, FTTP installation had to be rescheduled due to TT failing to dispatch the necessary new router in time. On the new day of installation, it was discovered that TT had not included the Digital Voice Adaptor, which is needed to provide access to VoIP for my house telephone. TT assured me that one would be expedited - it took 5 days to arrive, during which, we had no home telephone connection.
After two days of good Internet, and telephone operation, our telephone connection
developed a fault - we could neither make nor receive calls.
Throught December 23, I spent numerous (unsuccess) frustrating hours on online text chat, and telephone conversations, with different TT support staff members, with promises to log the ongoing fault for further investigation. I was promised follow up calls, from Managers, and a new router - none of which ever materialised.
The TT staff I interfaced with were polite and friendly - but, incompetent. Because when I finally connected to someone who knew what they were doing, the problem was fixed within minutes.

Bottom line is - we were without a telephone for much of December 23.

I have been a Talk talk customer for several years - but, this experience has left me totally disenchanted with them.

My broadband was out for around 10 days. Not TalkTalk's fault - that was BT failing to fix a line properly. But my 5-6 engagements with TalkTalk faults department & customer service ranged from unhelpful to unhelpful and pretty rude. For not being able to work (and earn a living), or do anything else requiring broadband for a week and a half I was offered ... £8 compensation. Tp put this in perspective, when something similar happened with Plusnet at my partner's place, she was offered a free new router, a month's service free and a cheaper monthly tariff. And they were nice. TalkTalk? Bye bye.

After being over 4 years talktalk customer, didn't expect that they could do it something like that.
I was moving my home to new build house. Spoke with talktalk customer service about changing address,

After having a fault with the phone line an engineer rectified the fault and stated no charge . After 2 months they took £65 by direct debit without notice this is against the direct debit guarantee regulations and when I complained I got fobbed off . Very poor customer service and advise other customers not to go with this rip off company

Hi You think you have problems, try this.

I ended my contract with Talktalk in April this year, and they cut off everything on the agreed date, (I was moving home) but I was sent bills afterwards. Contacting the chat line I spent a long time explaining the situation to some nice lady in another country I think, who was very helpful and apologised for THE MIX UP. Thought that was the end of it ! O NO, still got bills sent, so went back and had another long chat with another lady, who agreed that the first one had been correct and again apologised for the problem.

Now believe me, I have a letter from a colection agency threatening me with legal action if I don't pay £389.55 for a service that should and did not exist. I also sent letter to Talktalk accounts explaining what had happened, still no reply.

Shame realy as after being with them for years, I would have possibly used them again when I was ready to in my new address.

I would highly recommend to anyone who is considering joining talk talk to consider their choice again. I have never known a network provider to be as bad as what I am experiencing with talk talk. It's a shame there is no option for zero stars on broadband performance speed and reliability. It has gotten that bad recently that I haven't even been able to post this review through wifi, as I have had to use 4G on my phone. When speaking to a member of the talk talk team about our issue their response was simply, 'Yes well you are trying to connect a device in a different room to where your modem router is so the walls that are in the way are the issue' Oh I'm sorry, does this mean in order to have successful broadband I need to live in a house with no walls, or have a router adapter in every room of the house?! Therefore they claimed the issue was an issue on our part not theirs (because we live in a house with walls and doors). I have never known this be an issue with any other broadband providers in the past. This is also the smallest house we have lived in, so I can only imagine what hell it would have been if we were customers of talk talk in one of our bigger houses.
My advice to anyone would be to not get enticed in and persuaded to join by the 'wonderful' offers they can provide for you - the 'bargain' deals and 'great' packages, because yes they might be slightly cheaper than other providers, however what is the point in paying anything at all for a service as poor as what is provided.
After many phone calls with talk talk we have been assured the problem should not be getting any worse, however I am struggling to believe that due to that fact I have been sat in front of my laptop waiting for the same one page to load for the last 30 minutes (at least). Whether we are going to stick out the remaining time of our contract, we have not yet decided, but I can confidently say we will not be making this same mistake again regarding our choice of broadband.
I understand people may think this review is harsh, but with the level of frustration from the lack of quality received through talk talk, I had to share my opinion with others.

The most awful Customer Service I have ever experienced. After only 3 days of taking out a package I was called by talk talk to discuss changing my plan, advised I had just it installed & would like to use what I have first, talk talk advisor continued to go on & on about how “picturebox” is much better. Eventually I agreed to try it out. Within 24 hours, I called talk talk to advise I was not happy with this add on & wanted to change back, after being passed from one department to another for days and trying to communicate by email (which was ignored also) I raised as a formal complaint. After 6 weeks (you can change your add ons after one month) I received a call from talk talk to help resolve my complaint. When I explained they were 2 weeks late & I had removed the add on myself, the response was “ok i’ll Close the case” and the phone was hung up. The manager made no apology for the poor service or the length of time to deal with it. The minute my contract is up, I’m leaving & wouldn’t recommend them to anyone!!

I am originally a Nildram customer acquired by TalkTalk Business through successive takeovers. On October 31, 2013 TalkTalk unilaterally moved me to their Broadband Only (IPS) package.

On the day of the switch I lost my service. Initially I was told it was a nationwide problem affecting "legacy" customers and that they expected to sort it out "soon". Five days later, unable to run my business, talking to tech support several times a day with no resolution, they eventually asserted that it was a problem with the line and officially closed the issue, telling me to contact BT.

Today I decided to try changing my router configuration to let them assign my IP address dynamically instead of using the fixed IP address I've had for almost 10 years.

    Bingo! It works.

I can't easily forgive that oversight on their part, but worse still were the promises of calls back that never came; the confident assertions about "nationwide problems" that were irrelevant; the endless time on hold; the inability locate my account records, and total unwillingness to be told that they were covering and recovering the same trouble-shooting procedure again and again.

Now they are telling me to wait five days for a MAC number so I can go elsewhere. What a nerve.

Very poor internal recording keeping and poor diagnostic procedures TalkTalk. Not recommended.

Appalling customer service, agents barely able to speak or understand English. Ask to talk to a supervisor or manager and be kept on the line for 30+ mins, then they lie to you to get you off the line.
