LightSpeed Broadband has topped our broadband speed charts, making it the 'Fastest Provider' for 2023.
The Lincolnshire-based ISP averaged 312Mb, ahead of the runner-up, Call Flow Solutions who averaged 288Mb and YouFibre which came in third place, with a speed of 273Mb.
The Fastest Provider award is part of our Annual Home Broadband Awards. These results were confirmed by analysing 415,948 speed tests from 2022.
UK favourites, Virgin Media finished 22nd (149Mb), BT 47th (66Mb), Vodafone 49th (64Mb), Sky 55th (46Mb), EE 58th (40Mb), TalkTalk 59th (40Mb), NOW Broadband 69th (32Mb) and Plusnet 71st (30Mb).
Jason Coward, Chief Commercial Officer, LightSpeed Broadband: “The LightSpeed team are delighted with this news. This result just goes to show that the biggest is often not the best. Everyone at LightSpeed works very hard to bring our customers a better, faster, more robust connection, always backed up by rapid and friendly customer service and at a fair price. Ours is broadband built with people at its heart.”
For the first time in the Broadband Genie Awards, we were also able to include results from wireless providers including mobile internet, wireless Wi-Fi and satellite ISPs.
Starlink received our first-ever Fastest Wireless Provider award, recording an average speed of 87Mb. Considerable faster than the nearest competitors, Three (50Mb) and EE Mobile (41Mb).
Alex Tofts, broadband expert at Broadband Genie: “Congratulations to LightSpeed Broadband for achieving these truly remarkable results throughout the year.
“If you’re lucky enough to receive LightSpeed’s full fibre product in your area, it offers a future-proof service, capable of handling the most demanding of digital requirements.
“Elon Musk’s Starlink satellite broadband is head and shoulders above the competition in the wireless broadband market.
“However, the service doesn’t come cheap. There’s a hefty £460 signing-up fee to get the hardware, with the monthly cost set at £75. This high barrier entry fee may put off some customers.
