I was switched to this dreadful company by SSE. On May 1st they emailed saying my contract is due to end on June 5th. Brilliant, I thought as I can finally be rid of this terrible company. So, I signed up to a new provider. May 2nd, I contacted Origin to state I did not want my contract to continue after June 5th. I was told I had to pay a cancellation fee if I was to end my contract on this date! They don't follow any basic business practices. I have emailed cancellations and complaints department multiple times. Yet I’m still getting numerous calls from some rude staff telling me I must pay a cancellation fee. How difficult it is to cancel my contract on the date I have been told it is to end? They even had the cheek to send me an email four days ago saying my new contract is being set up. This company needs closing down!

Been with origin for over 2 years and twice now they have cancelled my direct debit and claimed I have cancelled it. They have shut off the services after 9 months without payment and put me in debt. Their way to notify you of any payment issues is to send an email stating “Hello
We hope you're enjoying your services with us. Your monthly statement is attached
A very warm welcome.
The Origin Team ” this friendly email from them clearly does not state there are any issues with payment so personally I have felt no need to open the statement, they do not send letters or call you to discuss payment issues even though they confirm both important information in their security checks.
I was advised by a manager that whilst they investigate the direct debit issue my services would be reactived within 2-24 hours and was asked to email proof my bank direct debit is still active but the email address provided to me for them is not monitored. It has been 25 hours and still no services. Would highly suggest avoiding this company at all costs. Rude customer service team and very unhelpful. Basically trick you into getting into debt.

I'm another customer who has been ported over from SSE/OVO. Speeds and reliability have always been good, however customer service is worse than abysmal. They make it extremely difficult for you to pay your bill then cut you off without warning because of arrears. I wanted to pay but couldn't because they didn't have the infrastructure in place to accept my payment. This has happened twice. I'm moving providers this month.

Called to arrange a house move after we completed on a house just before the bank holiday only to be told we wouldn't get a new router even though it would be a new contract. We found another provider with a better service and they are now trying to charge exit fees for a contract I never signed up for. This is a company that does not tell truth. Will attempt any means to try to part you from cash. Had 2 year contract at £21 month they then tried to take £132 they said it was mistake but next month tried £164. Thankfully I reported attempted theft to my bank. Direct debit guarantee scheme ment bank refunded me. Then phone charges started appearing. My contract ends 15th march. I'm so glad to get rid of this terrible company

They blamed openreach for poor service then I switched provider at the end of my “contract” and it’s all sorted. Operators are rude and don’t know their own so T&C’s and therefore provide you with false, contradictory information. There’s clearly a lot of frustration as you can hear other operators shouting on calls (presumably at clients) in the background. Their email comms are also deceptive and misleading. They conveniently can’t find emails sent to them and as non-UK agents don’t seem to understand basic english phrases. Avoid if you don’t want to get fleeced or endure frustrating calls with long holds! I’ve since switched and my line is better and happily deal with friendly, UK-based agents.

From being told I could migrate the package to a new flat, to then being told I was informed incorrectly. Now after one month of having the internet, I have spent 3 hours on the phone for them to say they've just noticed my account has been closed. This is the worst broadband experience I've ever had.

I informed Origin in November 23 that my mother (their customer) had died. They continue to send me bills, the latest received on the day of her funeral. I have sent 2 complaints (Nov & Dec) to email address provided on their website; absolutely no response. Have rung them numerous times to discuss and when I explain to their "service" representative the reason for the call I am cut off every time; are they deliberately hanging up???
So they don't answer complaints and won't talk to you on the phone.
Undoubtedly the worst company I have ever encountered.

This is on behalf of my 89 year old FIL. They take your money but dont provide the service. What a joke this company is. providing 5mb download, supposed to be 18 minimum,even that is bad service. They say nothing is wong. Taken 2 months forthem to admit something is wrong. Promised an engineer would call. Never showed up.Utter utter joke. I've been with Origin since early 2019. At that time they were a great company. I've always had a speedy internet connection, and usually get close to max 78mbit/s down and 20mbit/s up. The router does occsaionally seem to drop the connection, but usually in the middle of the night (probably firmware updates), and they sent me a new one a few months back completely free which I've not installed yet.
At some point in the last six months though, something's gone very wrong. Customer service chat and email addresses have been removed from the website, so you have to ring a call centre instead. We were not notified of this. They don't know anything there and can't help. There's no longer any account login, and their postcode/account checker simply doesn't work - it always tells you it can't find your details. On the call I was told the website was "low" - whatever that means - and that we'd receive an update about it in January. I'm not holding my breath, it seems very odd to take down the live service. If they're developing a new backend it'd be done in a dev environment before seamlessly rolling out to production... I'd encourage everyone to avoid Origin until they've actually sorted out their systems.
A real shame to see the downfall of a company which was so good and had great service when I joined five years ago.

Years ago, I had a satisfactory association with SSE. They were taken over by OVO and the level of service immediately plummeted. SSE/OVO provided unquestionably the worst level of internet connection and customer support of any provider. OVO pulled out of the broadband business leaving SSE to be absorbed into the Talk Talk empire. Nothing changed. Talk Talk dumped this failure of an enterprise on Origin who have ensured that the abysmal standard of service assiduously has been preserved so that the frequent drop-outs of internet connection which have plagued my frustrating involvement with these companies have been maintained at very regular intervals. One has to admire the consistency of dreadful performance of these people and their steadfast unwillingness to either help a customer or improve their level of service. Avoid them like the plague.

I was passed on to Origin from SSE for phone and broadband. I sent a cheque in payment 8th April 2023 to SSE and was then billed for charges from Origin together with the value of the cheque until November this year. Meanwhile the cheque was cashed through my bank on the 10th of July. I therefore have not paid curent charges until I was refunded the amount of the cheque which surprisingly arrived recently. On the 10 th November and 13th Nov, I called Origin with the intention of paying by credit card but they will not accept payment by normal procedure saying that it has to be done by a link and that I have to have Direct Debits.I'm a very sceptical person and smelt a rat. The girl said it was company policy whereupon I said it wssn't my policy and I would find another supplier. I have tried to contact Origin again but there is no longer anything on the internet to say they exist. Perhaps they are in administration, it would make sense having read a few of the reviews on here.In any case they are very badly administrated, if they are still in business don't get caught.I am left not knowing how to pay the outstanding amount.

I had my energy and broadband supplied by SSE which was a great service, it all moved to OVO energy and was all good until I found out I had been moved over to origin for my broadband without my consent, this is where it goes downhill, no internet for 4-5 hours at a time, tried phoning them but on a hold line for 2-3 hours at a time to be finally cut off ,the service is shambolic and that’s being polite, I have now come to the end of my tether and moved to SKY, I have cancelled my direct debit , it will be interesting to see how quickly they contact me

Once it was a very good broadband and customer service. I do not know what happened but now it is nightmare. Live chat is gone, they don't respond to emails, if you have problem you have to phone which is very expensive. I lost 25 pounds calling them and got nothing done. The contract was ended in April when she was put on bt ,may they collected £46 ,which they denied taking although I sent in copy of bank statement...which was final payment. To have a letter October demanding a payment of £261 ,she was still paying for telephone ,that she was supposed to have ended April...5 phone calls talking to a bunch of half wits ,repeating the same thing to me that didn't even make sence ..advising people not to go with this company as they don't care who they insult or take advantage of ..terrible company avoid with all cost

Continuous breaks in broadband and slower speeds. Eventually switched to BT after numerous complaints to Origin which made no difference to quality of provision. After hours and hours on hold and hours and hours talking to agents in South Africa , the agent said she would cancel my direct debit so Origin could not take the £201.51 from my bank account , on 11/10 /2023 , as I had received little to no service and shouldn’t have to pay an exit fee.
Today when visiting my bank I was informed that my direct debit had been cancelled by the agent, but Origin had still collected the fee by setting up another direct debit, without my permission, under the name “Origin Communications”. Is this legal?

Origin agreed to a 2 year phone only contract on 1st August 2023. Paperwork was received confirming £23 per month including VAT. For my elderly aunt.
On 24th August they disconnected the phone line of an 89year old lady. They have admitted it was their error but would only reconnect with broadband and phone line at a cost of £33 inc VAT! No phone only deal. I’ve said to install the broadband as they now now apparently do not do just phone, I said to 8nstall both but at the agreed contract price that I have in writing, of £23. They broke the contract and offered £23 compensation . I decline on my aunts behalf.
Is this how they increase their profits? Agree to a contract price then break the contract. If we had cancelled the contract within two years there was a financial penalty.
I will be taking this complaint to the Ombudsman and the media.
Do not use Origin.

Completely disgusting company.
After 6 months of searching for a way to contact SSE about my broadband as they had advised they had only moved my utilities over to OVO and not mentioned anything about my broadband I was finally advised to contact OVO as they would now have any information as to where my contract was taken on by.
We discovered what I now see to be infamously awful with customer service and with handling a handover of someone’s contract.
With my utilities OVO had no problem continuing and crossing over my direct debit from SSE.
For some strange reason Origin are incapable of doing the same so they decided it would be acceptable not to bother informing me that it was them that had taken over the account so when I found on on September 11th after them holding my account for almost 6 months I called to see what was going on with my internet as I was now receiving next to nothing in terms of service for the last 3 weeks or so before finally finding out who was responsible.
I was then confronted with a 172 pound debt as of September 11th to which I stated I was not happy to pay as for the last 6 months I had received awful service that I now can hold Origin responsible for.
I later found out after they offered a resolution amount of £30 for 6 months of awful service. That the remaining 142 included the 22 days they had admitted to suspending my services for from august 20th up until the 11th of September when I called so I calculated the increased price (which they also failed to tell me about doing for the last 4 months of my contract) of 22 days out of 31 days at £24 pounds per calendar month worked out as £17 pounds (just over) so I asked for this to be added to my credit in addition to the 30 pounds which should have dropped the price to £125 pounds.
The first agent advised me there would be no further charges added to the account and that they would escalate this matter to manager who does have the authority to grant this extra credit to my debt that shouldn’t even have existed in the first place as they were the ones who cancelled the direct debit.
Awaited a call for nearly a month….
Then to be told the good news is the £17 can be granted but we have also billed you for Octobers line rental despite them actively suspending my services. Which meant the £142 they had lowered the debt had actually now increased to £149 pounds.
So then the next complaint starts adding charges when someone has explicitly confirmed the charges would stop from now on as we had already expressed our desire to seize the account in their words and they had tried to claim upon listening back to our calls that no seize had been discussed if that was the case then how did I know without being informed about any T&C’s that they have 28 day period that it takes to fully “seize” the account.
Excuse after excuse after excuse.
Received another callback from manager today that advised they would help to get this sorted and escalate it yet again to a new level of management that has the authority to remove this extra charge if they are willing.
Then another gentleman called me and was nothing but rude then after agreeing to seize the account advised that the original amount with Octobers bill would’ve now been £196 pounds with the 30 pounds taken off it would have been £166 instead of 142 but they were willing to take off a further £36 pounds however as they were unable to seize the account until Friday they would charge £5 for this period taking the amount to £135.
After how rude they have all been I understand they have come very near to our agreed resolution amount of £135 but again trying to charge for time where the services have been suspended due to debt that was no fault of my own.
The whole point of a direct debit is to not have to worry about remembering to pay your monthly bill and so when a company takes over your contract and cancels your DD without telling the customer then how are we to know? Not even my bank informed me so it seems rather suspicious.
Do not use this company for your broadband you will definitely regret it most awful company I have ever and probably ever will deal with.

It's been horrible, my 88year old nan had her phone line through origin (part of SSE) then she wanted broadband, to chat with her friends online. It's taken 2 months of me and my brother phoning. She had internet for 2 days and this morning she has had no dialing tone on her landline. I was on the phone to them for over 3 hours. Still no landline. They just keep fobing me off from one service to another. Some of there staff where really rude. None of them are capable of fixing the issue. So now my poor nan has no internet and no landline.

When queried they can't find my account, how do they still take direct debits the? Been transferred to another company, I have not been informed!! After 2 days, numerous phone calls a helpful person at the new company advised and said it was being sorted, as mine is not the only double payment! Sounds like a scam, fraud or something very " iffy " now my bank is dealing with it, they can't be more helpful. Origin deserve to go into administration.

My mother is a 95 year old pendant alarm user. Last month she was switched from Ovo to Origin, with no warning. She only uses her telephone occasionally (3.5 minutes of calls last month), has a care alarm which requires a telephone, and does not use broadband. A couple of days ago, I negotiated a calls only service from BT, due to start on the 11th, as Origin were raising the monthly debit by an unreasonable apount. Origin have cut off her telephone on the 1st of the month, leaving her phoneless, until BT are able to sort it out on a 'welfare case' basis. Customer service at Origin were very unhelpful. Do not use this company!

Took out an energy , telephone and broadband package with SSE. They passed me to OVO. OVO then passed my telephone and broadband package to Origin. I received a letter saying my contract was up for renewal. I chose the middle option 2 , unlimited fibre plus. I was then informed that they didn’t have fibre in my area and my only option was unlimited broadband. The headache began. Wi-Fi practically non existent. Couldn’t use iPad ,Netflix or load and run any iPlayer.
Hours and hours of waiting on the phone. The agents I spoke to were very pleasant, no complaints there. One was based in England ,the others I spoke to, were in South Africa. In the end I had engineers from Openreach spend whole days testing my telephone points ( 3 whole days over a period 4 weeks) . The last 2 engineers advised that I needed fibre broadband to receive any signal and because this company didn’t have fibre in our area I needed to change my provider.
I then again phoned Origin and told them I would be leaving. Again I was hours and hours on the phone. Latterly I was told there would be an exit charge. I remonstrated that as they had not provided me with the service I was paying for,I was refusing to pay an exit charge. The agent then contacted her manager and came back and reported that they would waive the exit fee. I have now received a final invoice from Origin for £201.51 , of which £197.73 is an early termination fee.
I shall be making a complaint to the company and if they do not resolve this matter I shall be contacting the ombudsman services to resolve this matter. I have also been paying fees monthly for entertainment channels I cannot use , thanks to their poor investment in Wifi technology . Why are they allowed to charge fees for contracts they cannot deliver ?

Brought into their power without consent, I lament the random payments I have had removed from my bank over the last two months.
I cancelled my contract with SSE, as I was moving home, and have now had to research on my own who origin broadband actually is. I’ve never spoken to them, being cut off twice after being on hold for over an hour.
It is shameful that this kind of service can survive. I have no doubt that there are thousands, if not millions, just like me who have randomly lost hundreds of pounds to this company we’ve never heard of.

Was forced over to Origin from SEE after years of grood and reliable service this literally changed over night. As from the switch over date service slowed and became un relaible dropping out for a few hours every couple of days and eventually finally dropping out for whole days. The call customer service center is useless and I guess very under staffed and I would regually sit in a quese fo 30-40 minutes and move one or two places in that time. Whilst being insulted by the continous "your call is important to us". Three months in an I gave up. I called them and gave 30 days notice to terminate the serice and was provided a date. I am still being invoiced and charged six weeks after termination. They are part of the TalkTalk group so I shouldn't be supprised about any of this, shame they haven't changed in the last 10 years. Stear as far clear from this clowns as possible.

A short while ago I was switched to your company from SSE/Ovo without any say in the matter.
On the 5th of July I received an email stating twice that my contract was about to expire on...and no date.
However, I decided to renew anyway and thought it a minor error.
I then received an email to say my new contract was set up, to start on the 1st of January 1970!!
Whilst on holiday I established I had lost contact with my smart devices at home and when returning from holiday I saw I indeed had no internet.
I contacted your helpdesk on the 14th and they logged an error.
On the 15th I got a text to say the fault was fixed however, it wasn't and I had to call back.
After all these issues and three instances of communication errors, I decided to withdraw my renewal (took an hour in a queue to speak to somebody) and apply to join another company (which I have to wait 3 weeks for).
I received no apologies despite the fact I was meant to return to work on Monday after 9 days of holiday and will instead have to extend my holiday because I cannot work from home and need to accommodate a BT engineer.
I have had no offer of compensation despite over a week's outage of service and having to waste at least a day of my annual leave because I am unable to work.
Instead I have to pay an increased subscription cost to allow me to source an alternative supplier without an early termination fee.

I was advised to use WhatsApp for customer service. It was then discontinued without me being told, so I was sending messages with no hope of a response.
The company is unable, or refuses, to break down my bill month by month, even though it is a simple contract.
I had phone line problems blamed on sub contractors, when my contract is with Origin, not the sub contractors.
The amount of time I have spent trying to get resolutions to problems with this company is jaw dropping.

Origin dealt with the issue swiftly. Their staff were very polite on the phone and they gave me a real sense of reassurance that they would sort the issue for me. After some initial diagnostics they sent an engineer out. The fault was repaired. I am extremely satisfied with their response to this incident.

Whilst the broadband was not bad and wouldn't complain. I signed up to origin and even called them telling them I was leaving the property a 8 months into the contract. They told me I'd need to pay, so I did. I ended up paying until the date it ran out for 18 months and cancelled with them. Now they telling me I owe them money even tho I cancelled. I didn't actually use the broadband for 10 months and still paid them as well that's the law and what was in the contract and obviously honoured this. After being a loyal customer and paying them all this time 6 months later they telling me I owe them 209 pound. Yeah that's right. This company is a con. You cannot end the contract apparently and now I have to dispute it whereby they don't actually get back to you and just get a debt agency company come after you even if you dispute it they'll come back after no investigation. Terrible company. Stay away from origin broadband and save yourself the hassle of them asking for more money and debt collection agencies, because they don't do their job and make their customers suffer no matter how loyal they have been to them!!

I had an origin broadband For more that 2 years. Initially I had an 18 months contract. I moved my house after 1 year and they told me that they will offer me a new 18 months contract which I took. I moved again after another year. They gave me the same offer which I accepted initially. I was told no, the old contract is cancelled and I have to complete 18 months with the new contract. Their website says that if moving house there is a 29 pounds fee which I offered to pay. I was told that they don't do this and if I move I have to start a new 18 months contract so as they can recoup their costs. I can't move on the old contract which is basically false advertisement. My only options are to complete 18 months or pay the left over 6 months (170 pounds) from the old contract. But I can't finish my old contract in a new address as per their words " that is not how to run a buisiness". As far as I'm concerned, this is how you run a scam.

My internet went off t time Tuesday 13th September.
I phoned customer service wasn't on hold for long.
Very good customer service and he said could take between 24-48hr, fault with outside main electric box down road from me.
I was back up and running under 24 hrs.
Cheap good internet speed I would recommend them.
Even in hardship and struggling they their to help and reduce payment if long existing customer.

I gave them time to try to sort this out and then cancelled just after the cooling off period because I thought they would fix it. They then took over £350 out of my bank account. Absolutely disgusted.I switched to origin from sky due to poor performance from sky.origin was even worse. After complaining on a number of occasions about continuing buffering and cutting out and being told it would be rectified to no avail .My son was working from home at the height of covid and reliable broadband was critical to do his job.Their non performance was a breach of contract.I was contacted consumer choices and was told that that I was within my rights to switch .I chose Talk-Talk and was told there would be no problems or costs as Talk-Talk would handle everything. I was horrified to get a bill for £407.95 from origin a month later.They have handed that bill over to CRS Collections.How do I fight this rip-off.

So why do they do not request it and turn my internet off and put changes on. I phoned my bank and they informed me I do have funds and it's up to them to request it. This has happened before. Can't wait for my contract to run out.

My partner had this company in his house for his broadband! He had around 6 months left in his contract when he moved in with me, when we transferred the broadband over to another address they tied us into a 24 month contract without telling us instead of continuing the original contract.
We spoke to them and they said its their policy.. it took them 2 and a half weeks to install the WiFi which took us out of the "cooling off period" when we realised what had happened we spoke to them in Dec 21 to which they said they would shorten the contract back to the original length (after multiple phone calls)
Then recently we got an email saying they are taking us to debt collectors as we have not paid the direct debt.
We rang up, and a lady told us that there was a "glitch" in THEIR system which resulted in them losing payment methods on lots of customers in JANUARY!!! Its now April.
We paid they money and they told us it will be on in 24hs
24hrs came and went, we rang again to be told that because we never paid it was already cancelled their end to go to the debt collectors. They said we had to open ANOTHER 24 MONTH contract with them and they wifi will take 14 days to come on still!! And back in Dec they never actually altered the time frame to the oringal contract they just made it to 18 months tying us in for and extra year!! Now they keep blaming us and taking no accountability in the glitch they had
We told them, they had cancelled the contract so we can just go somewhere else. They are now saying we either have to have a new contract with them. Or pay nearly £300 to pay off the old months in the account that they have cancelled
Avoid!!!! Please do not use this company been nothing but trouble and money scheming

I signed for the 2 contracts and at the end of the contract they upgraded me early but I cancelled the upgrade with 14 days and took Plusnet. I was told that I won't pay anything cos my contract ended in Dec 2021. Instead of stopping my service they continue to charge and by March 2022 they have charged me about £500 they insisted I must pay or they send my name to the de3bit collector and put default of my credit rating to destroy my life. Connection is so unrelaible that it is off more than it is on. Origin have sent so many Openreach Enginners that I have a Membership with their Lottery Syndicate. S'Funny that the issues only started with these providers and none of my earlier ones.

The broadband comes and goes, very unstable but the worst thing is their customer service. I called to make a payment as the online payment method wasn’t working. I was on hold for over 40 minutes, the guy then said he would pass me to someone who could take payment from me. After being on hold for another 25 minutes, I was informed that they did not have the facility to take my payment over the phone. On another occasion I tried to call them and was waiting for an hour an a half with it saying I was second, then first in the queue. At an hour and a half the call ended without me even getting to speak to anyone

I can give a honest comparison as I still ran bt in the annex of house so both used same cable entering property, anyway after many emails, phone calls and no help from them, bt have bought me out of the contract back with bt, everything is awesome again, origin chased me for a final payment of £29 practically impossible to contact to pay 1 month sent to their collection company went up to £42 so paid thus as the collection company make it so easy to pay, had a chat with bt they will reimburse me as part of contract pay off, bt fab origin awful, please think and don't waste your hard earned wages on this diabolical company

This is a terrible Broadband service provider.I won't recommend origin broadband to my worst enemy. Actually,I signed two years brodband contract with them this year 2021 and within first three months was a nightmare service. There was no service (no internet, no connection) after the first three weeks of stable service then a few days right from the first four weeks and that was the beginning of the nightmare. Then I had to callled them before it was fixed over the phone. Same thing happend after two weeks there wasn't service for another few days and third and fouth time like that, then the fifth one was when I had enough of their terrible service and that one took more than ten days before they could fixed it and to my greatest surprice the service when off again less than two hours. I had to called them as usual and to my surprise the problem was fixed over the phone, and that was it, and after another one to two hours all I could expericed again was no service again then I was totally fed up. Then I had to called them that I've had enough of this rubbish and terrible service and need to end the nightmare contract, then I was told that I'll need to pay the rest of the contract even though there's no service or I'm not satisfied with their service. Then they took me to dept collector for the rest of the 24 months contract which I'm paying after buying another broadband provider. I had to buy BT Broadbrand and for the past five months now i've never experience no service from them. However, from my findings I was told the line origen broadband was using was a rented line and that's the reason their price is so cheap to attract their victims. Please its service is totally nightmare and they don't even care about their terrible service but the money to extort from you. I won't recommend them to save time, money , and lot of hassles.

The service is absolutely rubbish and the support you get is the same except for a customer service guy called Mark who made the effort to keep me updated. I have had internet with them since the end of April 21 an we are now in middle of Sept 21 and I have had 5 engineers who have come out (1 taking 4 hours to get me up and running) as I keep losing the internet.
It is true when they say 'You get what you pay for' Well actually I am not even getting that.. ...paying for a service that I dont even get!!!!
I was with BT before and yes it was nearly double the price, BUT I NEVER had any internet problems in the 4 years I was with them....I had never heard of this two-bit company and I can see why.....

Firstly the sales man lied stating it was a guaranteed 70-80 MB and if I didn’t get it a tech person would be out to make sure I’d get that. I was vulnerable and stupid I stated I was fresh from a nasty divorce and didn’t know what I was doing and trusted him. I explained the house had large ground surface and he said no worries this is designed for a business layout so it’s all good. I did not get 70-80 I got - mere 20. I called for advise and was told that no technician would be out and it was suggested I put an empty fish bowl next to the router. I had no wifi upstairs what so ever and lucky if I had one bar and ended up upping my contact on my phone provider for my children to use my hot spot. I called again and I learned how to log into the router to change the channels which made no difference and was advised to buy a tp link. Also to buy ethinet (sorry if I spelled that wrong ) cables all around the house to correct it. Not quite underwing the meaning of what WiFi is…. I had my partner who worked from home during coronavirus curse causing relationship issues as the amount of work he lost due to it crashing so when I received an email saying it would be going up in cost because of how wonderful the service was you can imagine I wasn’t happy. I called and even one member of staff admitted it was crap! I went to contact them on a Saturday 5pm to tell them to shove it and guess what they’re shut. The rest of the world is open but noooo origin broadband is closed till Monday. The first thing I type in that comes with origin that pops up on search engine is complaints. Now how funny. I begrudge paying off the ending early fee to go to BT internet I really do. I strongly advise you do not go with this company people you’ll be tied in to utter tosh and lies. Go with brands you’ve heard of and know. I’ve had no internet and when I do it’s crap. They lie that a mechanic will come out is crap and if they ever have told you this do not believe them. Money wasted and thank god for 3 mobile that’s catered for the house internet. If you’ve read this and still sign up with them good luck.

Some of the worst "broadband" out there. The Asus router provided s old +more for ADSL. Speeds are ****, it s v hard to work /study using this . Just a shame there wasn't a minus on the star scale, after numerous calls over several weeks keep promising the amazon voucher that you are supposed to get with the tv side of things, holly promised one last time is would definitely be with me by today and that supposedly came from management, guess what after another 2 calls today nothing, absolutely nothing. What makes it worse is that I only agreed to keep the tv package weeks ago as I was promised the voucher weeks ago and now they want over £200 early termination fee for the TV, as you can image my anger over numerous calls and the promises I also cancelled the broadband, trading standards first thing Monday morning, also asked how to apply for a subject access request in regards to the phone recordings each time I have phoned.

Of all the isp providers i have used this iS by far the worst by a country mile. Look very closely at cancellation on their T&C. The routers are either from a boot sale or from a previous failed provider. I never received not one second of WiFi from go live for 8 days so I cancelled. I received a bill for £413 x 18 months. I lodged a complaint. Whilst with the ombudsman origin sent my details to a debt collection agency. With intimidating and threatening texts. Customer service is totally absent. So Please please avoid this company. Stick to the bigger companies.

I moved home, and I needed to transfer my wi-fi.
I tried to call the company, it took me more than twenty minute to have the chance to talk to someone.
Finally I could talk to Ms Georgia Finnie, who immediately informed me that my area was not covered by super fiber. I had no chance, I had to accept an ADSL connection. I made clear that the only day that work for me was a Monday, and guess what? Ms Finnie booked the appointment with the engineer on a Thursday. I have immediately sent her an email to point that a Thursday was not good for me, and she emailed me back that she would have rebook the appointment. Then nothing, she just didn’t come back to me. On another note she had the grace to giggle for my pronunciation, forcing me to repeat several time every single word. Maybe mine is not a BBC English, yet I normally don’t have problems of communication.
The Origin broadband is quite poor, the customer service is even worse. I would never suggest Origin Broadband to anyone. Unfortunately I will be stuck in this contract for another year and I will have to pay for something that is not really worth the money it costs.
Don’t do my same mistake.

SPECIFICALLY WHEN QUESTIONED that I could make calls to ONE Mobile phone in Nigeria and would still get free minutes. - That was LIES as I discovered after after I got a big bill where the Calls cost 50p per minute. On inquiry after eventually getting through their crap phone systems, I was told Nigeria is NOT ON THEIR LIST of countries. I have not been told WHY & They don't all sign off the same hymn sheets & Currently I would now have to pay over £350 to escape before April 30th 2022.

Please be cautious before signing up to Origin who I'm afraid have consistently offered a bad internet and customer service experience. Over a 4 month period I had only intermittent internet access with a total of 5 weeks during which I had no access at all. My neighbours in the complex had no such issues through other providers. I work from home, have children and as a family we rely on the internet. Needless to say we were severely impacted by this lack of connection. The issue was finally resolved following the provision of a new router and a very considerable amount of time trying to connect to customer services.
Sadly, our connection remainded poor and I requested a cancellation of my contract with Origin. I was informed that I would have 30 days of continued internet access however my connection was ceased several hours later. I rang customer services and after more than an hour waiting was reassured that I would be reconnected within 24 hours. This did not occur and I rang Origin again to be informed that my connection was ceased due to human error and the advice around reconnection was incorrect. I have therefore been left with my ability to work severely compromised and having to wait 7 or more days for a new internet connection.
In general customer services were polite and tried to help however repeated protracted waits, errors and misinformation and a fundamental failure to supply a reasonable internet connection means that I cannot at all recommend this company.

Read up and do your homework as to why they get so many people making complaints about everything from substandard equipment that is about 4/5 years out of date, their billing and prices are made up over the phone and the best is the customer care services? Which is really none existence and the other Cowboys attached to the outfit are the debt collection agency. Broadband could not supply broadband for my grandparents and 3 months after paying for installation and agreeing to contract Origin still hadn’t organised installation at my grandparents house. I finally got hold of them (as noted as a person who can discuss account on my grandparents behalf) via online chat and discussed termination of the contract. They finally agreed via online chat and I sent them the router back as requested. Last week my grandparents received a letter from a bailiff demanding a payment t of over £400 for a full contract amount plus legal fees. They are bullies, can’t supply the service they promise, and have the worst customer service I have ever experienced. They have caused my elderly grandparents a huge amount of stress and anxiety and should be avoided at all costs. Disgraceful.

We signed up on an 18 month contract, it was a cheap and cheerful package and sign up was efficient and friendly.
We initially got reasonable speeds of around 55Mb (76Mb was forecast upon sign up).
Unfortunately things changed fast. During the pandemic, Origin were impossible to get hold of on both the phone and chat. The emails received are 'no-reply' addresses.
Now, the contract is up in 30 days and I've no intention on staying with an uncontactable company.

This has to be the worst internet provider. the companys payment services are down and i've contacted online, over the phone and via the 'online portal' to try and make my payments, they haven't been accepted due to a fault on their behalf. I then spoke to an advisor and they assured me my connection wouldn't be ceased due to the mistake on their behalf. Later on during the week my internet suddenly stopped working, this was at 8PM so no one could be contacted at this time (very convenient), i have then spoken to 4 different people since and each one of them have told me different things regarding my account. I then got told I would receive a phone call from a member of the management team and haven't heard anything since. They have 0 customer service, their internet connection is average and considering a lot of people are working from home during a global pandemic, the sympathy from a company like this has been pathetic. I would never recommend this company to anyone, not even my worst enemy. absolutely disgusted.

I am honestly absolutely livid with this company. For any students who know how bad Circuit Laundry is as a company, well, Origin is worse hands down. Absolutely abysmal customer service including flat out lying about additional fees, often extremely slow responses, never able to talk to me taking into account previous issues so everytime I had to start all over again. Slow wifi speeds and wifi that cut off. Never had any advice that helped to solve this issue and never had any offer from them to come round and actually take a look at the problems themselves. Often waited 30+ minutes for each response from their live chat aswell, several times i waited over 12 hours for the same "live chat" only to be given the same piece of advice every single time which i told them every single time did not improve my speeds at all. They do not allow me to cancel my contract early and i cannot legally cancel early under the precident of false advertisement and insufficient speeds/service because Origin as a company publicly do not comply with the up-to-date UK broadband consumer rights. They are literally a scam company who know they are ripping people off and its disgusting that they are allowed to offer their "services" at all to unwitting customers. Wasted so many hours and hundreds of pounds with them after being tricked by an employee of theirs on the phone into signing a contract with them. Since eventually I had to buy a new contract with BT to run simultaneously with this line as this one was essentially useless and I could not cancel or claim compensation. Never in my life been so angry at a company.

We went for the basic option (£17.99), and got what we paid for. The internet would cut out once a day or every other day for about a minute, which is frustrating when using streaming services etc. There is only the two of us, so it wasn't a case of overuse. The most frustrating part is that my contract ended, yet Origin are still taking the monthly fee! I've reported it, cancelled my direct debit etc, but it is still happening. When I have spoken to the customer service team online, they are very slow to reply, act like this is the first time I've raised the issue, and tell me that have to raise it with someone more senior! I just want you to stop my account! Terrible service

Nothing good to say at all about this company! Promised between 35-45mbps and couldn’t of been any worse I was getting around 1.5mbps and yes I mean 1.5 not 15. A friend of mine who worked for virgin has said that it’s the worst internet he has ever seen ! Downloads that take my friend 3 minutes take me nearly 2 hours. Don’t go near this company as they don’t care about you once signed the contact and paying. The cooling off period that you get to cancel if your not happy ended the day after they finally put my internet live so I had one day to cancel.

Non existent customer service. they take almost 2 weeks to get round to connecting (if you're lucky enough to get a connection - I wasn't) and then even if you cancel within the 14 day cooling off period, they'll try and fine you £668.31 for early cancellation, sent via a text from CRS that you can't reply to. At no point did my broadband ever work and they failed to answer the phone. Useless, time wasting not fit for purpose. Has anyone started a class action for these shysters yet? My experience with the Original Broadband has been horrible to say the least, I can't describe how many vulgar, arrogant and rude people I met in their chat bot. I ordered by phone around September 25, 2020 and waited for them to connect me for a month, when they finally connected me, the internet was terrible, unstable and I didn't really have internet in the living room because the Operarich socket in my property is in the small bedroom upstairs. I corresponded to return the router and cancel under the 2014 law for goods and services ordered remotely. They told me there was no problem and I returned the router by royal mail, not owing a fee as I had already paid initial payment on the date of ordering and paid £ 22.99 for a real three days on the horrible internet.
I thought we separated as civilized people, but on 14.01,2021 I received an email for a final bill of £ 413.82 payable over a seven-day period for an 18-month contract, and I have no contract either by post or e-mail. Now the saga continues with a complaint and if necessary I will file a lawsuit against the dishonest Internet trader. Be careful, absolutely not recommend them never evar with them.

This company has done nothing but lie to me from the beginning, I was given an installation date of 18-1-2021 then it was changed, on the same day to 2-3-2021, I cancelled and was promised that no money would be taken from my account even though I cancelled on wed 6-1-2021 payment was taken on the 11-1-2021. Sky and virgin DO NOT take money before installing and still give you a 14 day cooling off period then bill you. Our situation as concise and informative as I could write:
- Started to set up the contract in September.
- Two week wait for an engineer that didn't come.
- Another two week wait for an engineer that left without saying goodbye. Router plugged in but no internet connection.
- Another month past with us trying via phone and online chat to set up the internet.
After two months of having no home broadband we decided to cancel the contract as we'd spent so much money of mobile data to attend our lectures, watch movies, recipes, ect.
We changed to Vodafone who set up our internet with a great connection exactly 15 days of us requesting a contract.
Another month later we receive a "Termination Fee" from Origin, a provider that not only failed to provide but caused us stress and a HUGE waste of time. (waiting for 50 mins on the phone after three transfers of "hello how may I help you").
Absolute scam!

OK, I have 2 phone lines at my property, 1 in the annex and 1 in the house. The annex is still running BT Internet, and the house is running Origin. They both use the same cable from the exchange to our house, then the cable splits, to both property's.
As Origin WiFi is so abysmal I have connected BT boosters to the annex Bt router, I am getting an average of 40gb from this at approx 20m from annex.
if I stand next to the Origin router with the same devices then I'm lucky to average at 10gb and constant drops, which is awesome when trying to watch TV programmes.
If it is true that all calls are recorded then if one was to go through the recorded transcripts of the sales person whom sold me Origin, it was clear that I was told Origin will beat or better BT! oh! how wrong!.
I have had a chat with the tech team and tried different channels as suggested, and I have also checked the gb speed hard wired which is great, but this is 2020, everything is WiFi, phones, fridge, printer, TV, laptops, tumble dryer, etc, etc,
So I would just like what I was promised, nothing less! I was told I have the best you have, which I asked for, so, does this mean origin are not that great?? now if this is the case then fine, end my contract and let me go, but I'm not prepared to pay £400 odd pounds to leave the contract, when you are not supplying what your sales person has promised.
Its a bloody pain, but I can do reviews every week or so, I would rather not! I would like whats promised or let me go no strings attached.

A total waste of money and energy! I signed up because my cousin was a manager ( head of service) . The box I received was the wrong one, the replacement was meant to be sent by courier that same day but it turned up in 1st class post on Monday. The internet barely worked, kept dying but the phone was ok. I moved and swapped my home with a friend next door who was then accused of still being me ( we were a close group in the block so shared friends and the numbers called were always going to be same) . Their service was disconnected because of their refusal to listen. I moved away and it’s a good thing they didn’t believe that because they billed my friend £318 for calls neither of us had made. The company had many good reviews at first, the customers who didn’t know the staff obviously didn’t know that the Lowes and Frain reviews were put ups ( family members) . Lowes being a manager and Frain his partners surname! Another one - Cole is his mothers name. I added a trust pilot review to the extensive list of negatives last night and i was accused of being fake. i added a new one to replace it today , accused again. Then a whole batch of good reviews have popped up dated TODAY! What does that tell you??????

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY currently have less than 1mb download speed when average is supposed to be at least 7mb, DOUBLE NAT and they want us to pay an EXTRA few pound a month to get rid of DOUBLE NAT. Also just a complete waste of money and we are switching soon to maybe virgin media or sky. Any internet broadband that can GARUNTEE good download speed. Currently with Origin it takes roughly one hour to download a 67mb file. Terrible poor internet supplier. They should be ashamed.

They said I owe them £768, and I did not use their service for one day. When i connected the box there was not internet, and a friend told me to call them to cancelled the contract, I called origin, but they refused to picked my calls, and I sent them emails, that I am returning their I would need their address so that I can return their box, and never replied. I cancelled the direct debit,but they use my debit card details and took another £27 unauthorized. Now they have taken my name to CRS credit collector that I owe them £700 plus, I have been having sleepiness nights because of this issue I did not even use their service at all.

The only positive I can add about Origin is that we received our router only 8 days later than we were meant to... I know people have waited a lot longer.
We pay £23 a month for what is meant to be up to 36mb broadband. However, we have never received anything over 6mb speed. We have contacted them on numerous occasions to which they say everything is fine with our network. Even though it is not even possible to watch Netflix without it buffering every 2 minutes.
Now they want to charge us the full term of the remaining contract to cancel it... even though we have never received anywhere near the speeds they promised us when taking out the broadband contract.
I seriously advise anyone looking for a broadband service provider to avoid Origin like the plague. I can only hope that a Trading Standards investigation comes down on them hard!

Been with them for just over two years the basic router gave me less than 20 Mb download so I complained and it went up to just over 40 Mb. I later bought another router and input all the details and it kept dropping out every couple of days, the second PC, in the bedroom wouldn't connect whereas with the basic Asus router it did 90% of the time.
After a few weeks, the router I bought wouldn't connect at all so I went back to the one they supplied and even that was cutting out on both PCs.
During the day the bedroom PC won't connect but on a night it can get a connection, sometimes it is intermittent, I have trouble watching Amazon or Disney + and have to turn the PC off.
They offered no increase for 30 months but I might be moving providers in a few months if they increase the monthly fee by too much.

I have 2 phone lines running through 1 cable, 1 line bt broadband, 1 line origin (changed as sales man said it would be as good or better and cheaper) definitely cheaper but Diabolical, not a patch on BT, wish I hadn't changed and now cannot get out for 2 years, so origin says no problem as I get a good service to router, but the WiFi is rubbish keeps dropping and slow, doesn't happen with bt line!! Don't do it!! Its rubbish, and tech are as useful as a leaking roof, I have warned you!!

My broadband has been awful for months. My devices buffer constantly. I reported this to Origin, they advised there was a network fault. One minute I was told I needed to make an appointment for Open Reach to attend, when I did this, I was told it's external and I don't need to be home. No word of a lie, less than an hour later, an Open Reach engineer arrived, surprise surprise, he needed access inside my house, good job I was home!!! He was here for 5 hours, in the end he changed a line, taking a chunk out of the front of my house. He left assuring me the fault had been resolved. That evening, my broadband was worse than ever, I again contacted Origin to be told that there is another issue, which I was not informed about in the first instance, so there was in fact two faults. This has yet to be resolved. I have been waiting over a month now for the service I am paying for. The staff are rude when you contact them for updates. I have been told "it will be resolved as soon as possible, it could be hours, days or weeks, I don't know". Wow, that's brilliant customer service. I also reported the damage to my property, to be told I had to contact Open Reach myself to complain... ummm no, I am Origins customer, not Open Reaches customer. You have instructed them to attend and do the work, you therefore are responsible for dealing with this complaint.
I am currently working from home, with great difficulty. Origin do not seem bothered in the slightest. My contract doesn't officially end until June 2021. However I have now contacted another provider to leave this shambles of a company ASAP. And I will be taking this down the breach of contract route as I have continued to pay my bill each month despite receiving awful service.
Goodbye Origin!!! See you in court!!!

Signing with Origin was a bad mistake. We do not have the internet most of the time, when we do the speed is pre-2000 dial up modems. The customer service is substandard. First you have to wait an hour to get through to them "first tier" ( that is the people who do not know what ping is). They lie most of the time saying the outage is nationwide for all ISPs and the open reach are working on it. That is to avoid paying a compensation. And so you are left with a paid upfront annual contract and no Internet. The only advice is to AVOID these people or loose your money.

After the first 3 hours they identified a fault on the line and told me it would be fixed in 48 hours. 3 weeks later and 6 more hours with support, nothing has happened. Every time I go back to support, the morons just read off the tech support script, and when I tell them repeatedly that I have already done this and they have already identified the fault, they just read the next line on the script. Their staff are incapable of independent thought - they should just use an AI bot, at least that could reply more than once every 30 minutes!
Truly, truly dreadful company. Avoid like your life depends on it.

Having just set-up a new contract with Origin I tried to resolve 2 issues.
1. Broadband speed about half the download thery said they provide and..
2. The router I received is so small it doesn't provide coverage for the whole house (3 bed semi!!)
I asked to cancle mu contract to find this conveniently expires 14 days after you commit to them up to the day before they connect you. So, there's no way to cancel the contract after you get terrible technical advice on day one without incurring charges.
Aparently a wireless router will give a greater coverage area when the broadband speed increases - my technical representative said I would have to buy a router from them that should provide the coverage they promised before agreeing to change from EE.
Beware of this company, they do NOT provide faster broadband nor do they provide an appropriate router to cover a small semi

This is the worst internet provider I have ever used, I have only been with them for 3 months and have been unable to stream any media over the router they provided. Nobody seams to know what they are doing .I phoned them numerous times but the tech team was unable to resolve my issue and was even told that 6 devices were to many to connected to the router.

Absolute trash. Line speeds of half what I used to get with Plusnet. When I tried to get their tech support to help, many hours were wasted with incompetent staff who can only read off a script, and when they reach the end of the script they just stop replying. Even when they said they were going to fix the line, nothing happened. It takes hours on their "live" chat for a 5 minute conversation, and they don't even bother reading your replies. Might as well talk to a brick wall.
Seriously - avoid origin like your life depends on it. They are the worst broadband providers I have ever had the misfortune of joining.

For internet speed (great) customer service (****) i first began with them mist May, they got my order wrong & set me up with the downstairs flat. I could still connect to it as guy downstairs had moved out, but without any notification, they cut me off for 14 days then re-connected me, 6 days later i was issued my first bill of 17.99, was not happy & tried to sort out some sort of arrangement the screw up, i was given a free month to be added to my account but days later another 17.99 came out of my bank account for the next months bill. I complained & won 2 months line rental, its notw 30 days later & i still havent recived the 2 months line rental back, im getting pissed off with the sevice as it is. Will be making a indemnity claim to get my cash back & suggest that everyone else does the same.

I’ve only had origin Broadband for less than a month and it is the worst I’ve had by far. Before I had set it up I called and was on hold for 30 minutes before the call cut out, so I ended up not speaking to anyone and having to try and work it out by myself, after 3 hours, I got it working. And it worked like a dream, when it was only me in the house, I’m 17, so I live with my mum, her partner and my sister, so there are 4 of us on this WiFi all day, and then my sister has friends round, so there is more, and before I was with origin I was with talktalk and they could keep up with the amount of people and the only reason my mum switched was because it kept dropping out and costed too much, so that’s when we switched, currently there are only 3 people in my house, 4 devices are connected to the WiFi, you’d think it would be able to keep up, well no. I was watching Netflix and the quality dropped so much I could not see the video. 10/10 will NOT recommend. Awful customer service as you don’t get to speak to anyone. Awful WiFi speed. Absolutely horrendous.

I have been with Origin since October 2019. Overall the service has been patchy at best, with unreliable speeds and dropped connections periodically, but I can live with that.
Two weeks ago I tried to log onto my work server and the connection was refused, after some investigation it turns out that Origin had started giving me an IP address in Moscow. My work server, online bank, Sky TV and a number of other internet uses do not like Russian IPs so I called Origin.
2 hours on hold, to be told that they were aware of the problem, they didn't know what had caused it and there was no telling when it would be fixed. Had I tried resetting my router? I did this, no change.
I called again 3 days later (90 minutes on hold) to explain that I still had no usable internet connection, and was told that technical support would help me, so I was transferred (45 more minutes) and was told to run a test to check my IP, I did, and it was in Russia, they noted this and explained same as above.
I called again the following day and logged a complaint. This was after a further hour on hold. No further developments, or offers of help.
I called again 2 days later, as I was having to take each day off work as holiday as I could not work from home. 105 minutes on hold in total to be told the same as above, and when I asked about my complaint I was told that they do not respond to complaints until 3-5 working days had passed. This was the 18th August.
Called again on 20th August, since 5 working days had now passed, and after 45 minutes on hold I was told that I had not made a complaint, but that they would record one now and I could expect a reply after 5-7 working days. I explained the situation to date and he informed me that he had sent an email to the complaints team and they would get back to me the next day. They did not.
2 days later (22nd August) I called again and after a considerable wait asked to be put through to the complaints team. I was told this was not possible since I had only complained 2 days previously. I still have a Russian IP and no one can tell me why, or if any of my data is safe.
I call again on 24th August, still no word from Origin and I am still not allowed to talk to the complaints department. Another hour if my life gone.
25th August, ask for the complaints team after a 25 minute wait (my best yet) operator says sure, no problem, and after a further hour on hold, I am though to the .... customer service department sadly. I am now told that he can transfer me to another team who will transfer me to the complaints department, but that they are busy so I might have to hold (!). I wait 96 more minutes and speak to the pre complaints team. They inform me that they can fix the problem by issuing me a static IP address, free of charge and that would fix the problem. I inform them that the problem fixed itself that morning, but that I cannot believe no-one had suggested this in all the telephone calls I had made previously.
I now want to leave Origin, since they have breached our contract (and carried on charging me, and I have carried on paying) so I explain this, I am told that I cannot, as there would be a £140 disconnection charge. I explain that they have breached the contract already. They see it differently and I ask to speak to a complaints manager.
A complaints manager calls me back at 1805 hours on 25th August (15 days after notifying them of the issue, and 7 hours after it fixed itself) After some discussion he informs me that they have not breached the contract as nowhere in the terms and conditions does it say that an IP address will be issued from the UK at all times (!) He is prepared to only charge me £90 to terminate my contract and go to another company.
This is the only offer of resolution from Origin at any stage of this process. Only charging me £90!
I would avoid this company at all costs, their patchy service is bearable, their Russian IP provision is a joke and they don't know what caused it (but assure me my data is safe somehow) and their customer serivce is at best laughable, once you get through to them.
If you do join them, be prepared to like their hold music (which speeds up and slows down a little just to annoy you further during your long waits.)

We signed up to the company a few months back. We had no internet for the first month. Then the Internet was so terrible when we did have it. The customer service is non existent. They had no idea how to help. The waiting on the phone to connect to an advisor, every day was an hour. We called 5 times a day some days and that was pathetic and ridiculously unacceptable. The advisors expected us to use screwdrivers and mess around with our connection points that connect to the router. They promised to send out an engineer and never did. It was absolutely disgraceful. They then charged us to try and cancel and still wanted us to pay for the non existent broadband they had supplied. I would give them a 0 rating if I could. Please don’t sign up with them.

I have been a customer for many years with Origin, joining over 6years ago or something when they were a small company. They used to be incredible, with amazing speeds and stability, and constant technical support that worked hard to solve issues.
I still get good speeds, is the only positive thing I have left to say about them these days. My connection keeps dropping, a BT engineer found no fault in my house or wiring, and yet im still waiting for any form of a solution. Their customer service is a joke, they leave you on hold for hours and then fob you off.
Six years ago I couldn't have recommended them enough; but now I would advise you to avoid them like the plague.

They provide an awful service & were completely unsympathetic to the fact that I wanted to terminate/cancel my contract due to a change in personal circumstances (I had to move to care for my father who had terminal cancer and passed away in a very short period of time). Overall my experience with origin has not been made clear, as I originally called talktalk for broadband and they passed me onto origin without explaining it is a different service provider then I wanted, also the wife is terribly slow and cuts in out out constantly. I tried to call today to cancel as I was told I had a cancellation period in which I could still cancel my contract, but upon speaking to customer service i was then told that such cancellation does not exist and i have to pay for the whole 18 month contract period which came up to around £300. I've never heard of anything so ludicrous as this. I haven't even had the origin wif box longer then a week and today was the first day I was even able to use it for a little bit before it cut our again !!!! So disappointed and frustrated with this service and I wont STOP until this is corrected. They tried to take advantage of me due to my age as I am a senior citizen and a key worker and saddened by this overall experience.

Imagine all the gobshite drop outs from school decided to start a company - that is Origin. In fact, customer service is the absolute downfall of this company. I'm not old or a Karen but, Christ, I really don't know how they get anything done. From taking my money and forgetting to place the order, to having my connection cut for 2 weeks and not knowing why (had to ring Open reach myself in the end!!), to an hour to reply to a one word answer question, they are the definition of incompetent.

Broadband fitted yesterday it’s not working I have to turn off broadband to use my phone I phoned customer service for hours to speak to 4 people put me through to technical support and he tells me I have to go to Apple to get my phones sorted this has never happened in all the years of use broadband I cancelled and they say they’re going to charge me for everything they said the cancellation notice starts from when you order the broadband not when you receive it the people I dealt with was very polite and courteous and helpful but they could not do anything for me I have to go to Apple to get it sorted I recommend not to use this company

Terrible experience. Decided to leave Sky and try a cheaper provider - Origin. 4 months later summoned with a £200 exit fee despite them providing little customer service after logging numerous calls for persistent dropped calls. I went to the expense of purchasing a booster..as they advised...no improvement. They failed to get in touch at all after about our 3rd call to book a visit. I decided I just needed to leave the company after they failed to get in touch to arrange an engineers visit. The initial sales guy was lovely and helpful (no surprise there). What an absolute joke of a company. During lockdown I have daily calls with my team and I was always the one to loose connection every single day. So I would disappear for 10 minutes...come back...and hope for the best. Extremely stressful when you are busy at work. Cowboys at their best.

I'm afraid it is a bad review from me. I was with Origin for two years.
The customer service line was only answered after about half an hour to forty minutes.
Broadband speed was always slow.
The company took chunks of money from my bank account for no apparent reason and without telling me in advance. When I enquired about this they had no explanation as to why they had taken my money, there was no apology and I had to wait a month from time of complaint for it to be returned to me.
They frequently made errors. For example, they failed to recognise that I had paid the BT line rental a year in advance and so put me on a different deal so that I was being charged for every single phone call when I should have been getting free landline calls. Again, when I enquired about this they refused to admit that they had made a mistake for the first couple of calls. When they finally admitted it and reluctantly refunded me the money, they offered no apology for all my calls to them and for misleading me.

Its just not worth the hassle
The advisors on the phone are the only good thing about Origin, I had nothing but trouble setting up with them, they were quick enough to take my money but could not get anything right. And dont try to use the chat function, its not live chat, its clearly a ticket system which works like email - they reply in over 40mins to each new sentence you write. Its not live chat at all. For interest, here is a run down of the stupidity that happened with my particular set up: 1st call - you can have ADSL for this price, we'll call you on the day you move in to arrange setting you up. no-one called so we called them. 2nd call - actually you can have fibre and I will reduce the cost for the first 3 months to match the ADSL cost. Set up and paid the first month. Open Reach engineer turned up, couldnt trace the cable in or couldnt figure out how to run a cable in, wanted access to the roof which we dont have in this block of flats and shouldn't need. Contacted the council and got roof access for the next appointment. 3rd call - re-booked appointment for 2 weeks later. Engineer never turned up. 4th call - please wait until 3pm and call back for the report to find out why. 5th call - called back later was told engineer said you werent home (in covid lockdown of course we were home). 6th call - actually there are no engineer notes on ticket saying anything, the booking was cancelled it doesnt even say you werent home, passing on to provisions to rebook. 6th call - no rebooking was done call is cancelled. Let's rebook you now - and actually you werent set up for fibre at all, it was the ADSL contract, everything you've been told is wrong, its not 18 month contract its a year. 7th call - please just cancel it all I'm going with Virgin Media... 'all done for you, you will recieve a refund in the next 5-10days'. Next morning text comes through saying new appointment is booked... what a mess from start to finish - if it even IS finished. Still waiting to get confirmation that is it cancelled. They are absolutely useless. They take money straight away, cant give a straight answer on the phone, don't respond when you email or use the live chat... I started to think they're a scam to be honest.

Writing this review on behalf of my elderly parents. Awful Customer Service. My parents have had not internet for 2 days are quite stressed and need to book appointments. They and I have been trying to call their customer service and not being able to get through. I tried to contact on their online chat on their behalf but it is just an automated message, waited and waited, never put me through to anyone. Awful company, avoid.
