    The Virgin Trap
    2 years ago during lockdown we tried to cancel our virgin, we had issues ongoing since the install 2 years prior, after promises and lies, we had enough, we spoke to a chap who at the time was working from home (mobile) as most of us were back then, he promised to change our wifi to a more powerful one, and send us out two boosters, from the two main problematic rooms, once the engineer arrived, we soon realised that these promises were Virgin Lies. After months of calls and emails, we started to realise that we were not going to get anywhere, and were told, they don’t give boosters and that we had made this up, and Virgin lied its way out, at this point, we were out of our cooling off, and Virgin Trapped!!

    Fast forward to 2 weeks ago, after what seemed like a lifetime of rubbish internet, we called again to cancel, This time a chap gave us all the promises, he advised us to take small business internet, and that this would GUARANTEE us cover the whole house and in EVERY ROOM GARENTEED, it’s a different router and he guaranteed us that we will never call them again with issues (we have this recorded this time, you can trap us once Virgin, but we won’t be trapped twice) he even goes on to say, you even get a £100 back if this isn’t the case…. All recorded Virgin.

    So yesterday the engineer came, a nice chap, who tells us, he isn’t sure why but the wifi isn’t working in every room (shock horror) he was shocked to hear, that we were given a guarantee but not to worry, as all we need is two booster (arh the old booster promise) we explain that we had been promised these before, he told us that he wasn’t sure what had happened in the past, but this time he was writing up an essay for our case, and we would defiantly get these boosters, We explain we don’t want the wifi as we do not have faith in Virgin and wish to cancel our contract, he tells us, he cant do that, but not to panic, we have a 2 week cooling off period, in that time we will have the boosters and all will be fine….. HERE COME THE VIRGIN TRAP again…

    Today we called Virgin, as we don’t want to be in the VIRGIN TRAP again, we call and the person advises us, that we cannot have boosters, we have no Wi-Fi in every room guarantee, no £100 cash back for our inconvenience and worse of all, no cooling off period, we cannot cancel our virgin, we are again in the VIRGIN TRAP, after 84 minutes of being on the phone, being refused a manager call back and being told we cannot make a complaint or cancel, my partner finally got involved in the call and we have now been promised a call back, and advised that they have escalated a compliant, if this happens or not, we will see.

    A week later and still no call back from anyone!! We call again, this time we are told that a call was logged, but not complaint has been escalated, or they couldn’t see that one has, they can not guarantee a manager call back, but will let the field agent (the con man who sold us this) and let him know haha. The only thing they could confirm, is that we are now tied into a 2 year business agreement!!! That they will ask that a manager call us back, but they cant guarantee.

    2 days later, still nothing!! DO NOT DEAL WITH VIRGIN.

    They make a even simple request difficult I spent 4 hours on chat and phone and still not resolved!! Don't know about internet because never get one. Unprofessional and rude!! AVOID AVOID AVOID this is my honest advice!!!

    it all most imposable to get to customer services if you they cannot help. I been with more than 2 years. when you get good speed fine but most the time its just rubbish.

    I just got tv box from Virgin, and again they can't manage to calculate bills correctly. Instead of paying £40, took £84! So angry. I don't even know where to start to get my money back, because customer service is so bad! Don't really want to waste my time and money trying to get some help from them. I am customer for 8 years and i think it will be last year!

    Broadband unreliable, for working from home. Broadband speed intermittent, nowhere near 100 Mbps more 15mbps when working. Currently intermittent till 12/11/2018. Customer service in name only, Not focused probably based in India

    Breathtaking incompetence and shockingly poor service. The installation date was booked and I waiting, standing, at the unfurnished property for 5 hours only to be informed by the driver that he was not in Derby but in Manchester. I had phoned twice to check on when he was coming to be told he was on the way. He had the right street name in the wrong city and part of the country. Need I say more? An hour of holding on the phone TJ try to speak with a supervisor and 15 minutes of being identified in the Philippines and still no joy for what is to be a £1,000 per year order. Shocking…

    Truly horrendous. Avoid at all costs. We were with Virgin for several years and faced repeated poor broadband speeds with poor technical support. We moved house. Virgin agreed to transfer the broadband with us to the new address on the day of our move. The night before we were due to move Virgin called and said they continue instal broadband at our new address - it would take 8 weeks to get it set up. In essence Virgin shamefully and bare fadedly lied. Customer service is hideous. It's impossible to speak with anyone. You just keep going round in circles according to various automated voice menus. I cannot strongly enough say how poor the service has been.

    I'm not the type to ever leave a review, let alone a bad one, but unfortunately i feel i need to now. DO NOT PICK VIRGIN AS A PROVIDER.I have been let down in a variety of ways... over charger 3 times, huge lack of customer service, let alone the fact the speed of my service is crap, takes around 1 hour and a half to download anything. pathetic. Virgin media you should be ashamed of yourself.

    Applauding service and coverage in my area. Staff were evasive when internet speed was questioned. The technician in that fitting my box made fun of my disability in my own home which was very embarrassing as it was in front of my sister. I would strongly recommend avoiding Virgin Media, and beware of the exit fees. This company wanted to charge a hefty £800 early exit fee because I wanted to leave because of poor internet service provision.

    One of the worst service providers I've ever dealt with. In the three years I've been with them, they've raised the broadband prices with clockwork regularity every year. They will charge you if you want to receive paper letters or statements. If you forget to save your online statements from your account, they will ask for £3.50 for each statement to be printed and sent to you - they will refuse to e-mail them to you. If you have any problems you will spend at least half an hour on hold on the phone. If you try to cancel they will try everything to make you stay with them - it took me 40 minutes before I managed to get them to cancel my account. I cancelled because I was moving, and they demanded I give them my new address, because they want me to send them the router two weeks after the cancellation day - so I can't even escape from them from a new address! The Internet itself is very spotty, and any claims that they have great Internet with fiber optics - lies. Do not pay anything to this company, they will milk you dry then laugh in your face.

    If i could give less than a 1* rating, I would. I am studying in Portsmouth with 3 housemates. We have had this horrible company's 200mbps line for around 2 months, and have had nothing but problems. We never get the speed we are paying for, sometimes we can't even open our emails it gets so slow. We are on the phone with their dreadful support at least once a week and have had 2 "technicians" in, who haven't been able to find the problem. There's nothing right about this company, whether that's the quality of their service, their customer support, their communication. We have been promised a "senior technician" who was supposed to arrive today. However, for the 3rd time, Virgin have decided to cancel the appointment for some unknown reason, without notifying us. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

    This broadband is the most worst connection I have received..it’s been more that one month I’m suffering with the connection..Technician came twice they couldn’t do anything yet..Not worth for the money..I have very bad experience.

    absolute rubbish, new customer installation agreed for tuesday december 15, got e mail friday evening before changed to december 30 so 1 working days notice. leaving no phone or broadband over christmas for a pensioner. if they have this kind of contempt for a new customer i pity their existing ones! disgusted.

    To anyone considering going with Virgin Media for their landline and broadband - PLEASE AVOID AT ALL COST! Their services are shockingly bad and every time you try to get hold of them they just brush you aside and give you some random excuses that doesn’t resolve the issue long term. They increase your bill on the sly and after attempting to call them 5 times and being on hold for 20+ mins, they cut you off! I’ve tried to message them on web chat and on social media and rather than telling you straight off that you can only cancel by phone, they pretend to listen to your query and after 30 minutes of wasted time they tell you that this is something they can’t help you with! So over 3 hours in total of trying to get your account cancelled but you get nowhere! I’m having to write a complaint letter to them and ofCom and even then I think I’m going to get a brush off from them. This is on top of my internet gradually getting slower and slower every month until you have to rely on your 4G to get by. Their broadband speed is very unreliable - sometimes you feel like you’re getting great speed but it this isn’t very often. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND GO ELSEWHERE!

    Have been a Customer of Virgin Media for many years, but for phone and broadband only. Last year they persuaded me to drop Sky and go for their VIP package.
    Things were OK until last October and everything went wrong, broadband speed went from 200 mbps to 7 mbps, tv on demand didn't work, TiVo box went into snail mode.
    Endless phone calls to people who are really not interested in fixing the problem. Fix dates have ranged from last December to this February and the latest is March. Inept doesn't even start to describe them. Virgin Media should not be allowed to sell services which they cannot deliver.

    The worst broadband and WiFi service that you could ever wish for. Avoid broadband services as they are just so intermittent. It's likely that you will, as I have done, spend time constantly having to reset the unit and calling virgin for assistance.

    The problem is that you can't leave the service without paying a cancellation fee unless a technician has been to your home 3 times and has been unable to fix fault. But then after the first visit they will not send anyone out stating an intermittent fault in the area even though neighbours on the same street don't have any issues. And when they do send someone you have to wait at least to days and wait at home for half a day.

    The next problem is when you try to esculate the complaint the policy is that you can only expect a call back between 14-28 days.

    Absolutely terrible. The first year of our broadband service was fine, no problems, went down a few times but that’s to be expected. The past 9 months though have been a nightmare. Service goes down almost daily. Made so many calls, they book an engineer, always for a few days time and then magically the internet comes back on the day before the engineer is due and they cancel the appointment. Then the whole cycle starts again, intermittent service to the point of no internet at all, we call, the enigineer gets booked, the day before the internet comes back on and the appointment gets cancelled. Had to fight to get any sort of refund but they insist the internet is working when it’s not. Terrible customer service. Can’t wait until our contract ends.

    Unbelievably bad company to deal with, letter sent to me stating installation date 10/9/2015, no one turned up no one called to say the installation had been cancelled. New letter installation date 18/9/2015 guys turned up at 5.45 in the evening found they could not get the cable through to the manhole. Was not their job but kindly contacted the powers that be to get it rectified the following day, the guys arrived and did the repair but could not install was not their job, informed us the install would be done that afternoon.Stayed in all day waiting, no install no call no nothing.
    Complained on the Monday to Virgin Media they had us down as installed and with equipment, we had no equipment and a cable lying on the lawn. In all this time from the 19/9/2015 my fathers lifeline had been disconnected so was a risk to life from falls due to him taking Warfarin, any action taken ??? none. any call backs from management??? none.
    After phoning them from a mobile for 3 more days and getting no where, even though they promised us it would be every day I rang so 3 more days wasted. I decided I did not want to be involved with a company that cared little for its customers and even less about someone life so I cancelled the install and moved to Sky.
    To top it all off everytime I speak to anyone at Virgin they tell me we are up and running and connected, even to this day and they sent me a bill for the first months service, talk about the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing. One mistake anyone can make, two mistakes is irritating but this catalog of mistakes is beyond funny and shows the company to be absolutely pathetic in its ability to function as a unit.
    The front end staff are helpful and do all they can to help but are only as good as the management behind them, I would not let the management of Virgin Media run a popcorn stall, they have no idea what customer service really means. We were more than patient as |I think anyone who is reading this would agree, I contacted them regularly to no avail and then they had the cheek to send me a bill for TV, Phone and Broadband. Sorry buy I am not sitting at the end of the garden in the rain trying to watch a service that doesn't exist. As of today they still have us as connected and when I rang them today they were going to transfer me to the disconnection team, lmao, what happened they hung up on me and at no time was I unpleasant or nasty, what a company, unbelievable.
    If you thing by any chance of moving to Virgin Media I seriously wish you the best of luck, you may even get installed but I don't hold out much hope if things go wrong, no one and I mean no one will carry the can, if you can get anyone to talk to that is with any authority.
    Anyway sorry for the rant am sending all the info to Watchdog and seeing a Solicitor about the risk to life they put my father in, watch this space.

    Awful customer service! Downgraded my services in March to save money they locked us into another contract and now they want to charge us £240 to leave even though they can't provide a service to my new house. Disgraceful!!

    After paying Virgin media my hard earned money for the past 20 years, when I desperately needed support due to my broadband going down they couldn't have cared less. Despite explaining my hub was clearly broken and that I was in the process of starting a new business from home, they flat out refused to send out a new hub (unless I paid even more to upgrade) and told me I would have to wait a week for an engineer. Unhappy with this, I told them I would find an alternative provider which I did. Despite various phone calls to Virgin and discussions with them via Twitter, they failed to tell me I had to give 30 days cancellation until I called today to tell them I am now with Talk Talk and this is despite not even being in a contract. They basically told me it was my own fault for not being aware of the T&C's and not reading their cancellation policy. So now they intend to charge me for broadband I won't be using for the next month as its been disconnected when I moved to Talk Talk. Had they informed me of this when I first told them I was leaving, I could have cancelled 3 weeks ago.
    Disgusting company, appalling customer service and clearly have no value for customers. Their customer representatives are insincere and unhelpful which is why I will now be actively discouraging others to choose them.

    And isn't it interesting that for all their insincere apologies when you complain, they never, ever offer anything other than an option to discuss it further i.e. continue banging your head against a brick wall as they frustrate you further because they really couldn't care less and will give nothing to compensate for their inadequate provision

    My internet used to be great, it now cuts in and out. Customer service was appalling and just said lots of people use the internet in the area and it weakens the signal - surely they can correct that? My phone line hasn't worked for weeks and I have complained 3 times, the last lady I just spoke to hung up on me.

    I agreed in January to start in April but they wanted to start service in February and had an installation date of 24th Feb. So I cancelled immediately wrote to webservices, and rang customer services it was acknowldeged and so they did not turn up on the 24th Feb. I thought that was the end of it, but I was on holiday in March and webcam picked up workmen installng Virgin box to my property on the 12th March, without my knowledge or agreement atall. Infact I rang the police as I did not know it was Virgin at first. They confirmed on the phone that I had cancelled, and I wrote a formal letter of complaint as the Police stated it was trespass and 'criminal damage' to my property as they had drilled in to my brickwork. I have never redeived the Hub pack, router or anything else so no service, but today O2 rang me saying they wanted to give me a SIM to start my broadband service with Virgin and he insisted I was with them now. I told him that no permission had been given no notification at all to install equipment on my property was given to me and that I considered this to be ongoing aerial trespass and was seeking damages now. I asked him to feed that back. They are impossible to contact, leave you ages on the phone and pass you to other departments where you get cut off. Absolutely terrible I shall never recommend this company now.

    Had a fault with our broadband that took 4 MONTHS for them to finally send a technician round a resolve. Only given a £46 refund having paid just under £200 for that time period. Terrible service.

    had signed up for Virgin a month ago around the 14th of March. The sales rep Chris had been very enthusiastic and nice (little did I know!). He gave me options of the packages and told me the most suitable one for me which I agreed with. He also stated he would take care of my transition from my previous provider and that I would not need to contact them or pay any cancellations fees. He said to contact him directly from 9am to 8pm and gave his cell number to me.. A month later not only do I notice he set me up on the wrong package but he had not dealt with my previous provider so I had been slapped with a huge cancellation fee and had to liaise with them for an hour to cancel my contract at no extra cost. I had tried to contact contact Chris during this period numerous times via call and text for more then a week and no response to date.
    Once I set up the Virgin WiFi which I received on the 17th of April, I had no network. I contacted Virgin on the 21st of April as there was still no network and they said there was a power outage in the Ha1 region and that it would be working by 3pm that day. Mind you the outage had apparently occurred since the 12th of April. Whilst speaking to the person who told me about the outage, I told her to update my package and she said she would connect me to the relevant department but the line got disconnected. There was no call back either so I tried to call the customer service again through their number on the website to update the package and was put on hold for half an hour at which point I got frustrated and hung up. When I called today 23rd April, I got an update stating the service is still down and expected to be fixed by the 26th of April. Seriously like how long does this take?! How are you not compensating your new customers or helping your existing customers especially those working from home.
    I have decided to stick to my previous provider and cancel virgin because of this extremely ridiculous customer service and connection. I have never experienced such bad customer service in my life. I got the quickest response to sign up but no response otherwise so shows how they just want your money?! Abysmal! A few friends had suggested Virgin as they experienced excellent and reliable WiFi but also stated their customer service is really bad.

    appalling service. We have always had trouble with the internet in our area.. then we went 6 consecutive days without any service at all! We were told lies over and over again saying it will be fixed in 10 hours. After 10 hours have passed they said another 7 hours.. untill eventually 6 DAYS HAVE PASSED. We had no one to contact because they knew the internet was down so we could only speak to a robot that automatically hangs up. We had no choice but to switch providers after 6 days of no communication. BEST PART!!! They didnt even comp. our bill for the WEEK OF NO SERVICES PROVIDED.. THEY CHARGED THE FULL MONTH AND EVEN HAD THEN NERVE TO CHARGE £240 Cancellation Fee.. which my husband and i will fight till we die-- even when we most likey lose it wont be worth the £5 a month we will pay you.. not to mention I will tell everyone to leave you!! so was your £240 really worth it?? Im sure it is cause thats how you are keeping the company alive off of Cancellation FEES ALONE!!! No apology no compromise.. not even after offering £100 to leave.. well.. lets do this thing then.. you wanna dance. I got my tapping shoes on!!!

    Paying in avrage 75 a month for basic tv 100mb Internet and phone . Internet is rubbish ,and will give me a 60p discount for a loyal customer ,will not give me new customer deals that are half the price ,and get a better service . Checked my speed and is 3.3mb and 5.3 upload . No were near a 100 ?

    For the whole time we had Broadband, it would cut out intermittently for long periods.
    Very hard to get hold of customer service representatives.
    Obstructive when trying to cancel.
    We have now cancelled and moved to BT.
    Avoid.

    Another day another broken service from Virgin media. How can they not offer compensation for interruptions up to 2 hrs every day!?! I have never been so dissatisfied with any utility service in my life

    I decided to swith to Virgin from BT because it was cheaper and faster.
    2 weeks before the installation date Virgin's sub contractors laid a cable across my lawn, instead of along the fence, when I was out. No attempt was made to contact me beforehand. I rang Virgin several times to complain, and to make sure they would move the cable on the installation day.
    The customer service is totally useless, they dont seem to be able to actually do anything about a complaint, and their English is not good.
    On the day of the installation, the engineer told me he was not allowed to move the cable, so it was not installed.
    I have now cancelled my order, and would recommend everyone to avoid Virgin.I accept that mistakes are sometimes made, but I can't accept the company not putting them right.

    STAY AWAY! It's pricey but always faulty. Customer service is not existent. I have booked a technician so many times and never got one, it was always cancelled last minute because "the problem in the area was fixed" while the main problem is my router alway flashing.
    I am having a problem EVERY SINGLE DAY, connection comes and goes.
    After so many calls (alway charged, of course it's their fault, but they charge you even to report it) I got to speak with a "manager", his name is Goram or something like that. What can I add beside USELESS? I said I didn't want to pay the bill for the current month since the connection is extremely poor (in a hostel room on the 6th floor with the router on the ground one it would probably be faster) and he said he couldn't do anything... not eveb a discount? Well, I guess being manager or bein an call centre operator doesn't make any difference then.
    Can't wait to get rid of this horrible company.

    STAY AWAY, trust me!!!

    Extremely slow internet. Bad customer service. One time I spoke to someone who's chat I ended because they didn't seem to want to help me at all. Nothing ever gets improved when they say it should have. Highly do not recommend for any students, you are essentially ripped off.
