Our Sky broadband is horrendous! The connection drops multiple times a day and when it can be bothered to work it's painstakingly slow. Reporting the issue, switching boxes and adding a microfilter has done nothing. When my Dad attempted to fix the problem about a year ago he was coerced by a pushy salesman to lock in to the contract for another 18 months or he was told they couldn't send an engineer out (who was no help at all). The packages seem reasonable but they're hugely unreliable and everyone else I know whose internet is provided by them hates theirs too.

We have been sky customers for nearly five years and in the last couple of months our broadband kept playing up - we quite reasonably asked to change our router as it is also nearly five years old - we have been ignored and kept been told that we should change the channel and the router would not be the issue ( without actually checking it ) the only other option we were given was to change to the more expensive fiber optic, which we did not want... We are actually changing to a new supplier and as a
Leaving present we were presented with an early cancellation fee - after nearly five years - because they increased their prices last June and as we did not cancel then this was seen as a renewal of our contract and this is how they justified the charges .... After resetting our router 3 times a night to have some sort of connection we are not sad to leave

Speed varies by the hour, the basic broadband package is rubbish , so you have to get a more expensive package to supply multiple devices. But even that isn't stable. Trying to talk to a remote call centre is totally frustrating. They make Virgin look good!

Broadband keeps breaking down and they're not even aware of it until you call them. Terrible Customer Service. Speeds are extraordinarily low. Take ages to fix. Absolute crap. Stay away!

Very intermittent speeds. Most days my broadband drops to less than 1mbps usually about mid afternoon and mid evening. Over the Christmas period broadband was dropping out completely at times.

Having checked speed and found to be 0.24-0.39 Mbs DL (not fibre) expected up to 6mb!! contacted Sky, most helpful with all -- checked line OK, changed filters, re-booted, changed cord from router to master socket. Zilch!! On phone (mobile) for half hour plus going over the same things. At last managed to get an engineer appointment 2 weeks from now. Very helpful but pointless exercise. Unable to tell me what speed I should get for what I pay! Overall sympathize with customer service agent but after the test could not understand why loathe to send engineer. Seems to think something wrong with set up internally. However, same set up for last ten years and only discovered very slow speed when trying i-player and that kept buffering - has worked ok before. Sky are sending new filters and router cable. Fingers crossed or will be looking to switch but will give them a try.

I have been with sky for over 8 yrs there service has never been that good but the areas I stayed in you could only get sky or bt so sky it was my problem is 1- text message from sky to say sorry you want to leave - I never wanted to leave at that point so I phoned them and was told don't worry it's a mistake then 4 days later I am cut off and this lasts for 2 weeks , when I phoned them I was told that someone had put in for my line without my permission, when I had spoke to sky they promised that they would phone me back on various times and never did I had to phone them and when I did I was passed about to various departments all of which could not explain why this has happened every time I phone I would be put on hold for various times from 30 mins to nearly 4 hrs yes 4 hrs and that was after being told that the guy would be 2 mins he had to talk to his work mate ! And to cap it all I am still getting charged the full month . So I would stay well clear of sky

Just got the fiber from Sky, easy and prompt installation, works perfect, had Sky before and only had one issue with the internet, which was promptly sorted. When I looked around and saw sooo many bad reviews was thinking not to get internet anymore hahah a crazy internet world out there, I mean all the internet suppliers have terrible reviews

So far so great! We've had sky broadband for almost a year now. Very reliable. If it goes out you just need to wait a few seconds or disconnect and reconnect right away and it will perfect. Customer service has been great. They've been really nice, answered all our questions and when we had a problem they were very reassuring and sorted the problem right away. Not perfect but pretty close!

I had order broadband from sky on the date of 26th of june14 ,paid for router which was delivered on time without any problem,As well recieved couples of letter from sky in my property.,Then after got appointment to install broadband on the date of 7th of july 14(1 pm to 6pm). but the bt engineer did not come in my property,He never rang buzzer and never phoned me as well.then i phoned sky customer help centre, and explained about my problem ,i meet a manager named Collins who offerd me free first month bill cause of their fault then I need to re book an appointment 18th of july(8am to 1pm) which was agreed by me.but on this time also the engineer didnot come in my property and he never phoned /never rang buzzer.again I made call to sky, explained everything about the situation,i asked them "Compensation". This time i spoke with named of Rosy(Ext. 25212),She said , they are giving me good offer cause of their missleading information to bt engineer(not able to exsis iin my property).however she does not what they are providing me,if want to know i need to wait at least 4pm cause currently she is going to have her lunch and not able to speak with her manager to address my problem,So i was waiting her call ,got call but she still doesnot know about offer said her manager is really willing to lookafter the customers, she said she is going to leave a voicemail regaring offer at 5pm and she will arrange an appointment 21th of july(tomorrow) 1pm to 6pm.which was agreed by me.But i never recieve her voicemail regarding offer, never got another phone call .Today i just loged in My sky account and checked "track my order",said my order already has been cancelled. Then again phoned the sky customer care centre, whichwas totally unacceptable, the guy was Daniel,he was just ignoring me,he stared to argue with me,said it was my fault not their ,he only believe Bt engineer, said my order has been cancelled and need to re-book He was speaking totally rude, then i said i dont want speake with you ,given another lady ,the she said "hello"" hello" then she hang up the phone,At last time again i tried a call ,there is a guy better then them explained everything, said he only knows my oeder has been canelled by under the name of his colleague "Amber" she is off today, suggested to again phone tomorrow 11am to 11pm.So this is my long story from 26th oj june to till today 20 th of july.I really don't know about that what type of engineers are working with them, they don't know the how to ring the written buzzer of property and even to give a phone call to the customer if they face problem to enter the property. The sky staffs are "big lier",they are not really willing to solve the customers problem,(I suppose the are giving wrong property address to their Bt engineers).

The internet was in general pretty average (slow to slightly faster - some disconnection for no reason), but service customer was terrible. A call every month to try to sell us new products, even so we asked them every time to not call us anymore. Processes for starting their modem were far from easy, and cherry on the top of the cake was the way made everything complicated for ending our contract. We are not going to another provider, not even moving house, we are leaving the country !! That should be super easy, and all logic should be that we don't have to pay fees for that, as we don't have choice than stopping our internet provider... Have been leaving in a lot of different countries, that the only time in my life I'm asking to pay fees for cancellation while I'm leaving the country, that is non sense...

AVOID!!!!!!!! Extended my contract without asking to higher amount when there was a fault with their equipment, triedto charge me for new equipment even though it was a fault with their equipment, do not investigate complaints, intermittent internet connection, first time I’ve ever had iplayer repeat certain sections of a programme due to poor broadband, so much buffering. Don’t go there, anywhere else is better.

Yeah, in line with other reviews here, very slow speeds (and I mean very slow - less than 1mb in the center of Edinburgh!). Added to this, very expensive and not always notified when prices increased. Currently waiting for new provider - can't come soon enough.

Sky offers the worst service I have ever received in all my life. First of all, they were meant to fix my internet, they didn't and did not say why. They finally got me connected the next week, 2 days short of a week. Next they gave me date and time range to come fix my tv broadband. I asked that they make it closer as the date I was given was too far away but the refused and then threatened me with a 25pound charge if I cancelled or absent. Eventually, they did not show up at all and gave me yet another post date again which unfortunately is a week day and I work full time, I called then twice now and have asked to be connected to cancellations. they have put me on mute claiming that there is a queue for cancellations. I told them that for there to be a queue, it means their services are bad and people want to leave. They are not reliable and definitely not a company to use their services even if they offer 1million channels more. Rubbish people! Rubbish network.

I have moved to a new flat and I had to change my broadband provider because there was no Virgin line here. God, in my life I used dozens of broadband providers but this is, I don't even know what this is. Poor customer support, poor connection, cheap website. Don't do this. There are better services out there.

Worst internet service I have ever used! I had dial-up in the 90's that was faster. I left virgin as I was told I would get up to 200Meg connection speed at a lower cost. Not only was the cost a lie but the fastest speed I have had to date is 6Meg. It constantly disconnects and customer service are about as useful as a chocolate teapot. Avoid them at all cost!!!

Their idea of broadband is two underpaid pensioners sitting in the basement and pulling cables to tell the other pensioner at the telephone exchange to phone up China Post and request a packet via carrier pigeon. And when you phone to complain about the rather terrible speed of 1Megabytes/s (typically at 950Kilobytes/s) with an upload max 60kilobytes/s which if maxed out at peak times typically kills the connection, horrible ping at peak times (>150ms) with >30% packet loss, horrible hardware (and software) that has been designed by a nursery child or the fact that you internet has dropping consistently throughout the day you not only have to pay but also put up with the most mundane check list diagnosis that you've tried many times but also the lack of any fix.

Even better there is no fibre optic , atleast in this block until BT or Virgin get their bottoms in gear, (although BT says that they're 'rolling out' a couple meters of cable for a while now; about 6 months) I'm sure I'll never get the Sky package as if there is anything to be gained from this 'experience' is that their 'fibre optic' plan is shining two key chain lights down a gutter.

I used 4G for ages while living in the sticks, but when I moved into a fibre area, I decided to switch to sky fibre. I thought the 4G was great, but they put the price up, so byee. After I placed the order, I read a few negative reviews about sky and seriously doubted what I was doing, but it was connected on time and I got 37Mbit from the outset. Hasn't changed since. 4G did show 45+ Mbit at times, but it was erratic, whereas my fibre seems to be pretty consitent and is much much faster when using Netflex et al. Maybe other people have had genuine issues, or maybe they just aren't doing their speed test when no-one else is downloading. Uploading is admittedly slower than 4G, but I don't game, so I don't care. Just worth a mention. Ping latency is much lower with sky tho (150ms 4G vs 50ms Sky)

I'm paying for up to 20mb/s broadband, and at the time of writing this review, speedtest.net tells me that my DL speed is a pathetic * 0.49mb/s!! *, and that is with nothing but speedtest and this review page open in my browser, as the only person currently in the house and my laptop the only thing connected to the router.

Customer services are equally ridiculous, stating that 'tests will be done' and all kinds of other absolute *bull*, to have nothing resolved or fixed. While I'd love to say that this is a recent problem or 'cause by' something else, this has been the case for the past 8 months with no change, and prior to that I had a maximum of 2mb/s and terrible stability.

CROOKS! First let me say that I didn't join Sky by choice, I was transferred when they took over O2. I also noticed the slower broadband speed that others have mentioned, but that isn't my main complaint! I had as part of my package free international calls, which is what I joined O2 for in the first place. This was also transferred to Sky until suddenly I noticed a much higher charge to Sky on my bank statement. It turns out that they suddenly decided to transfer me (and everyone else on the same package) to a different package which didn't include international calls! They said I could 'upgrade' to the new international package and pay more for the privilege. Not only that, they would lock me into another year contract to receive the same service as I always had. This is clearly just an underhand way of holding on to customers, while getting them to pay even more. With me it hasn't worked, I've just signed up with Plusnet.

I had to put this review on to warn others about NOT signing up for SKY broadband.
I booked my home move on 7th April and was due to have broadband installed in my new house the next day.
On the 8th, the day the broadband was meant to move over I got a text saying there was a 'problem' with install.
Since then, two weeks later, all I have had from SKY is excuses. There is a problem with the exchange, its BT Openreach's fault and they have NO IDEA when it will be fixed.
Meantime they turned off my internet on the 7th so my whole house has no net connection.
When I rang up to complain saying my home relied on the net I was cautioned "I hope you are using it just for domestic purposes as work purposes are not allowed".
Gee really?? Thanks for that. I pay you over £100 a month for my package, you havent delivered and you have the cheek to lecture me on terms and conditions.
Now thanks to SKY having no idea whats happening my teenage son has to live at another address as he does computing and needs the net for study and I now have serious childcare issues as every Friday I used to do some of my work at home, to look after the baby, but now I cannot use my net at home.
Please be careful before signing up to SKY, dont be left without internet!!
