I have found PLUSNET to be excellent overall - their tech support and call centres are in Yorkshire. They offer a variety of packages to suit all requirements/budgets.
Also you can have broadband only or include home phone in your package. I have not had any problems with them.

Please add my user name; woodburn636 as a referer when you sign up and I will receive a small discount and you will receive excellent broadband and can then go on to refer others.

Registered as Plusnet customer in March this year. Service excellent for first month, since then getting progressively worse. Service frequently drops out, pages do not load properly. Trying to arrange cousin's funeral so do not need stress. Quick check online about what may be cause revealed list of steps I need to take before they will even
send out an engineer. These steps way beyond my technical ability. There is even debate on their pages whether Openreach will do or do not permit you to open up the socket plate to check its performance. If you feel happy to do this? If so, Plusnet is for you. If not I suggest you pay more and go with a provider like Zen which does not require you to be your own telecoms engineer.

totally dissatisfied.promised that the connection would start on certain day -no connection since past 2 weeks - upon calling no luck as long wait so given up few times - eventually being told problem on the line etc etc. Router promoised too but no sign of router evern after 14days been chasing and yet again long wait - frustrating - called up again and being told that the first person did not send - so if i did not call i would have still waited for the router. finally arrived and upon connecting the router no broadband connection - yet again called them - being transfered from one person to other (also had emailed several times) - todate no broadband - nearly a month now - cannot work from home - so very disappointed.asked them to cancel my contract - but being told have to pay as 14 days passed - so cannot afford to pay so much.

With a New Year came a new provider: PlusNet. After looking through a ton of reviews here and elsewhere I settled on them as their customer service was rated as excellent. Indeed, they exceeded my expectations. I switched from Virgin Media because of their price hikes. However, because Virgin is on a seperate (monopolised) network when you switch to PlusNet the old contract is NOT automatically cancelled. I was not aware of this and so ended up incurring over £100 in fees with Virgin Media for an unused service. To my surprise, when I settled this fee and called PlusNet they sympathized with my position and - after reviewing their sign-up pipeline - decided that they had no informed me well enough that I had to manually cancel Virgin Media. As a result they are reimbursing the extra incurred fees.

In addition, the internet so far (2 months) has been stable at about 70mbps and almost as strong as Virgins (108mpbs). For about half the price, this is a very good deal.

Also if you are looking to get ethernet by cable or deal with pesky iron-heavy walls I recommend a ethernet over power adaptor. I was able to use one without any hassle to extend the network to the living room.

The worst company. Twice messed up my order. One month without broadband . Customer service don't have a slightest clue what they are doing. Don't respond to questions, ignoring enquiries, cut you off during live chat. They don't deserve even one star. Plusnet did not make me proud !

WILL NOT RECOMMEND! For 3 years I tolerated their sneaky change of contract and pricing. Twice we changed address and they sneakily changed our contract for yet another year and yet another year. Refused any support once we wanted to leave Plusnet when we found out we had been extended for another year instead they gave us a list of penalties that we will have to pay due to the fact we want to cancel before the end of our contract. On top of that the speed of our broadband was 2mbps.. TWO MEGABITS PER SECOND! I am having 72mbps right now with the most basic broadband from BT. Your entire company is based on disgusting sneaky contracts to tie your clients for yet another year and another year for as long as you can instead of providing good service. Plusnet has the best customer service you claim on your TV advertisements, you'll do us proud... if you had good service to provide in first place you wouldn't have to pride yourselves in being good at answering the phone after 65 minutes wait on the phoneline to resolve an issue. I will NEVER recommend your company and I have put sense into hundreds of people that have considered your company as a broadband provider and I will continue to do so, because you have been the most negative experience in this country I have ever had. Stay away and don't fall in the trap no matter what offer they make to you! There are so many more better more reliable providers even if you have to pay 5-10 quid more, please... Don't drown yourself in the swamp that is Plusnet.

Seriously, save yourself a life-time of hassle by NOT going with Plusnet, they will waste your time and shorten life-span.
The router cuts itself off for no apparent reason, at one point even changed its own hub password which is worrying. Took 17 mins+ to get to a sales agent who in the end implied that because I haven't bought the higher spec, I'll have these issues??? Why am I spending more than I should for a bb that does not work?

I have talked to a customer service named Chloe and the they were very unhelpful. I was supposed to upgrade my contract with them asking for good deal but wasn’t happy so told them just to finish my contract and don’t renew it. Then they were charging me £30 for cancelling my contract when it finish? How could a company charge customer when the customer said to cancel the contract when it finish? She was unpleasant experience.

Extremely slow broadband, well below their guaranteed minimum speeds. Do you like streaming HD content? Do not get Plusnet. When we raised a complaint with them, they provided us with some extremely details tests to carry out throughout the whole day which are very inconvenient and I think they're designed so you don't do them. Working from home has been a nightmare with Plusnet and I cannot wait til our contract finishes so we can move.

After moving to a new address Plusnet refused to allow me to exit the existing agreement. I had to find a new internet supplier and keep paying for terrible broadband "provided" by Plusnet, especially as I was working from home I needed reliable internet. Eventually Plusnet contacted a "credit solutions" company forcing me to pay for broadband internet I didn't even use. Impossible to log any complaints, they conveniently only allow phone calls, so you can't keep track of your complaint over email. Highly discourage using Plusnet. STAY AWAY!

The broadband is pants... plusnet lie and lie about why it’s so rubbish. Finally my contract is up and I try and leave. Because I won’t tell Chelsea the retention’s woman the cost of my new provider, she starts being rude and really difficult. (I understand you have to go through security questions, but she kept going over and over asking my numbers from my password, my bank account, sort code, memorable word...it was ridiculous...she almost took the full passwords on all of them!) cocky staff, slack attitude and a rubbish service...thank god im free!!

When switching over from John Lewis, we were told and even sent a letter that we would be able to keep our @waitrose.com email address. The customer support person did not tick the box to keep email address and therefore, even though we were sent a letter which stated that we would be able to keep our email. As well as this, we have had to contact the support countless times because they failed to change the email on the account from the one which is @waitrose.com after 2 calls. The troubles did not end there as we were overcharged on our first month and it took another 30 minutes on the support line for the issue to be solved.

I have always had very good service from Plusnet with an acceptable broadband speed for the area we live in. We have been a customer of Plusnet now for almost 5 years. We live in rural Devon and have speeds of 16-19mb/s. Recently, we noticed our internet was getting increasingly slower and was causing us frustration when trying to stream Netflix and Amazon etc. We put up with it for a while and eventually complained. I was immediately offered an upgrade to Fibre for the same price as I am currently paying. The team member I spoke to was very friendly and efficient and sorted out our problem. Very happy with the service from Plusnet. Great customer care!

On the most part, I've always had good service from Plusnet. Customer services over the phone have always been helpful and friendly, matching prices by competitors when my contract was due for renewal. The staff on the live chat are less friendly and helpful, quite blunt and rude at times. I've not had to contact Plusnet very often though as my broadband has had very few problems. Good speed, good availability and reliability. Happy customer in general.

Plusnet decided themselves to change my house move date resulting in me having my internet cut off 6 weeks before the agreed date. As a self employed remote worker, this has cost me a weeks salary and caused severe disruption to the company I remote work for. Truly appalling service.

I have been a fibre broadband "customer" for just over 18 months and have never had a reliable connection.
Getting through to them is almost impossible - the website sends me round and round in circles and anyway is no use if the flipping internet isn't working! The phone is always engaged. I did finally manage to reach someone by phone, and was just told to run frequent speed checks and "raise a ticket". But in order to raise a ticket, I have to go through the labyrinthine "diagnostic" system first ... which I already know will not serve any purpose.
I cannot run several speed checks, as they suggested, because it isn't working!!
The really annoying thing is, it doesn't just go off for a bit and then resume: it is constantly flickering in and out, making it impossible to get anything done properly.
I first raised this issue several months ago, at which time they just sent a new router, which has achieved nothing. The whole saga has been ridiculously frustrating. The amount of time and effort I have expended on this doesn't bear thinking about
I joined Plusnet because they are supposed to have good customer service, and this is what I wanted more than anything. However, I have had nothing but trouble from the beginning and zero actual real help, just excuses and asking me to waste yet more of my time getting to the bottom of it.
I really feel I have been ripped off here - paying for a premium service and receiving nothing but grief.
