Ive just closed down my Plusnet account. Only because Gigaclear have installed fibre to our door. Plusnet have been brilliant, great service, honest, decent and totally reasonable. If things change I'd have no hesitation to go back to Plusnet.

So, I've decided to write this review because it's past my years contract, they're about to raise the price, and I'm browsing for alternatives.

That all being said, I've mostly had a fantastic experience with PlusNet. My package promises 60-80Mbps (7.4-10MBps) download, with a 9Mbps upload. Which excluding my first month (where I was "accidentally" put on the 52Mbps package, which was quickly fixed) performed superbly. No slowdown, and when I had to contact them (online and phone), excellent customer service.

Now, if I did have to throw in a minor nitpick, I'm not a fan of the router. It's not particularly bad, but not great either. I would like to have access to more settings, including the ability to manually control all in/outbound connections, and change/configure a DNS and VPN. Not a deal breaker, but (as I mentioned) is a nitpick, and can easily fixed by purchasing a better router.

Having read a series of reviews about BT, Talk Talk and Plus Net, it's clear that every provider has at least some dissatisfied customers. I've been with Plus Net for nearly 10 years and their reliability and technical support has been superb in that time. Yes, we drop the connection now and then, but it looks like that's universal. I'm only considering a switch to get a better combined TV and broadband deal - as I read these reviews, I'm thinking change might be the worst thing I could do. Why mend something that ain't broke?

Does what it says on the can. I am an IT professional and this is the supplier of choice for most of my colleagues. Why? Well everything can go wrong and it is how you put it right that matters.

The fibre it's OK, never had a fault in 18 months and it's even faster than advertised (upload never reach 19M but download go beyond the 38M reaching 42 or even more).

The only problem compared with my previous provider BT, is that Plusnet support it's only by Phone and THAT'S RIDICULOUS today, first because you ha to spend a lot of time for a yes/no answer, second because some questions are better solve with screenshots, links, attach, etc.
And by the way, I'm not a native speaker so I always prefer to read and avoid strong accents.

So, Good service but very antiquate just like the member center software/graphics

Router would not allow a connection to the internet. I called Plusnet on 3 occasions and the staff were 100% helpful and courteous trying their best to help, eventually ordering the services of an engineer who came the following morning. He found a fault at the exchange and hey the internet is up and running with good speeds even on my basic plan. I have never had to wait very long when telephoning, brilliant customer service . If its bad service you are after --go join talktalk.

In my experience, people feel more impelled to tell tales of woe rather than happy ones. Anyway, after going far beyond the end of my tether with the appalling BT, writing to their director of customer services by name and having it ignored, I signed up with Plusnet. The service was replaced faultlessly and on time, and my Broadband fired up at the normal speed, better than the reduced speed that BT were unable, or incapable, of remedying. Twice in the last ten months, speed dropped right down, and both times I spoke to a pleasant young man in Sheffield who restored the service. Now, I am aware that they do all this off the back of BT's infrastructure, so this could be just happenstance, but credit where credit is due, I am very happy with them. I am sure that there are thousands like me, who, if moved to do a review, would reduce the proportion of moaners to an insignificant proportion. How ever, that is not to say that they are exagerating or overstating their cases.

I have always had very good service from Plusnet with an acceptable broadband speed for the area we live in. We have been a customer of Plusnet now for almost 5 years. We live in rural Devon and have speeds of 16-19mb/s. Recently, we noticed our internet was getting increasingly slower and was causing us frustration when trying to stream Netflix and Amazon etc. We put up with it for a while and eventually complained. I was immediately offered an upgrade to Fibre for the same price as I am currently paying. The team member I spoke to was very friendly and efficient and sorted out our problem. Very happy with the service from Plusnet. Great customer care!

Have been with Plusnet for years and my contract was due to expire, so was looking to see what they would do. My phone call was met with a 50% reduction in my broadband charge. This meant I could get cheaper elsewhere according to the website information. A few days later I did an online chat with PlusNet, this resulted in free broadband for 18 months. So, all I have to pay is the line rental, which matched the website comparisons available. So I stayed with PlusNet, but would have gone to another provider if they had not improved the first offer. Don't take an offer if it does not meet your expectations.

I have been with Plusnet since I cancelled with Talk Talk (Rubish ), great service, Yorkshire based company who usually look after their costumers. My contract is up for renewal, but on looking at the speeds offered my upload speed will go down from 10mg to up to 2mg unless I upgrade which will cost me more.I' looking round now for a better deal, but not many good compliments for other providers !

Beats Sky and Virgin for Customer Service and Value
If I had read the reviews I would have never moved to PlusNet, but I'm so glad I did. I was being essentially held hostage by Virgin paying £108 for fibre broadband, BT Sport and Sky TV.
I did some basic maths and decided to buy a Freeview box (Manhattan T3R 1Tb), subscribe to PlusNet for Fibre Broadband and use the BT Sport App on my TV's (£10\month from PlusNet) and Black Friday Deals from NOWTV to get Sky Sports, Entertainment and Movies. The PlusNet installation was really simple and as BT OpenReach (PlusNet are part of BT) have now put Fibre into my house, I get over 78Mb Broadband through PlusNet (which is enough) and more watchable content than I had before. The PlusNet component on this costs me £36\month (£26 broadband and £10 BT Sport) and through savvy Black Friday purchasing the complete Sky bundle costs me £18 so a total of £54 a month (half what Virgin wanted).
Focussing on PlusNet, the service has been brilliant. The engineer installation was done quickly and as booked, the router setup was easy and some of the router security and control features are better than Virgins. I have two young sons who watch a lot of online content and game over the internet and no issues with broadband speeds. Also no issues with the router dropping the internet connection on almost a daily basis unlike Virgin. The website is clear and simple and I've moved to PlusNet mobile getting a 11Gb unlimited SIM for £11. When I have called customer service it's taken some time to get through, but Virgin quite often took over 30 minutes. Since terminating my contract however Virgin has been phoning me so often to try and retain me that I ended up blocvking their calls (I have been with them since Blueyonder so 20+ years). Anyway, if you want fast fibre, good offers on BT Sport and to couple that with Freeview and SmartTV Apps for things like Sky then I'm not sure you can beat PlusNet on price and from my experience good (if not great) customer service.

I just want to say having spoken to one of your customer service team name that I am very impressed how he dealt with my problem. Not being a technical person at he was very patient with me (being an older lady who has no idea about computers and broadband). He was such a gentleman and explained things to me very clearly. If all your employees are as good as him you must have a fantastic team.

Been with Plusnet for 3 years, getting it FREE for 12 months after an easy haggle at renewal! Customer service is the best, any problem been resolved quickly, can't fault this company. Is there another Plusnet that's getting these bad reviews, because my experience could not be better.

Can't understand all the negative reviews of plus net. My experience has been the opposite. Helpful, friendly assistance from competent staff. Charges also reasonable compared with BT. All call centre staff I've spoken to are native English speakers which matters a lot to me. Top notch.

Have just renewed for the 5th year, would not consider going anywhere else. Plusnet are THE BEST in my experience, and the 2 people I have referred agree with that. Customer service is great, line is always reliable, and the service is top value for money. Line speed is not the best but it's fast enough for me and never holds me up.
Most of the bad reviews here are probably written in anger by people whose hobby is moaning - check out their language and spelling and punctuation and that tells you something about the worthiness of their opinions!
It's time to put a genuine good review on here to balance it up - people who are satisfied don't often write reviews, they are too busy enjoying their Plusnet account.

My broadband speed dropped off and not close to the speed that I signed up to. For 15 days I checked my speed twice a day and recorded the dates and times. I then telephone Plus Net and was through to Jack at Plus Net within 2 minutes, I informed Jack of my findings regarding my broad band speed. We reset my router wich made no difference, Jack raised a work number to sort my problem out. The following day I carried out a further broad band speed check to see my reading, I was amazed to see that my broad band was up to full speed, I also received an email from Plus Net informing me that my issue was resolved and that I was up and running at my allocated speed. For me personally Plus Net did an excellent job of sorting out my issue what else can I say, thanks Jack at Plus Net.

I had been with BT for several years with no real serious issues but contact with them when I did have a problem involved frustrating calls to India. Operatives reading from a menu list who were not the slightest bit interested in the fact that I had already tried all of the remedies they read out (I've been in IT for 30 years)before ringing them. That aside they (BT) had begun to charge like rhino's over the past few years and I was paying over £50 pm regularly. So it was with much trepidation that I settled on PlusNet. UK call centre and £15 pm cheaper even when the introductory offer had finished. I had read the reviews on here but I am old enough and wise enough to know that reviews are skewed to the negative. Most people who are happy with their service do not bother to leave positive reviews whereas someone who has had a negative experience will almost certainly have a moan. Anyway, my experience was first class. My fibre plus broadband was transferred seamlessly on the promised date with texts and emails keeping me informed at all stages. My phone changed a little later and again seamlessly. Broadband speed was a little up and down for a week or so until the necessary calibrations had completed but again I was informed this would happen and again I was informed when it had settled to its expected speed. I thought I should do what most people seem not to do and leave details of a positive experience to even out the balance even if only a little. I have put four stars for customer service and for reliability only because its too soon to give an objective score so soon. As far as I am concerned though PlusNet dealt with my transfer faultlessly and for that I thank them and congratulate them heartily. Well done.

I have been a phone and broadband customer of Plusnet for several years, and am very happy with them. Their UK call-centre is helpful and responsive. I have recently phoned them several times with for technical support during the Covid-19 lockdown period, and despite these busy times, have still been speaking to a real human being with only a coulple of minutes' wait. The help I have received every time has been excellent.

Been with plusnet for two years now. To date service and reliability has been very good.
Had one problem with a fault on the phone line, plusnet staff handled it very well but of course they were dependant on openreach to fix the physical fault.

I would recommend plusnet, service better and lower cost than rivals.

We have been with plusnet for 18 months and have had no problems at all. Good speed, no drops in connection, great customer service.

Just moved to a new house and at the same time we reviewed my plan to an even better one with a discount.

Customer service is always really good and great that they use an 0800 contact number.

Internet is always on and always works with no messing about - that's all we need and that is what plusnet provides!

    Would definitely recommend.

I usually switch utilities/insurances etc on an annual basis in order to ensure that I am getting the best deal. However I have now been with Plusnet for 4 years.

Previously, I was with Talk Talk (big mistake!) and switched due to poor connectivity and customer service. Plusnet haven't disappointed me yet.

Considering we are in a rural area and at the end of the exchange, the internet speed is fairly good. In the four years we have been with Plusnet we haven't had any issues *touch wood.*

Their prices are excellent. I'm super happy because they are honest. Out fo the blue I recieved an 80pound cheque as the prices had been lowered in our area (I didn't even know) and they had been charging us the old price. They could have kept this quiet and I would have been none the wiser, however instead they were honest and acted with integrity and gave me a cheque for the difference.

    Overally I'd thoroughly recommend Plusnet.

Well I must be one of the lucky ones.
Took the fibre only with PlusNet in November last year , and had no issues with it .
Connection has never dropped out , speeds I'm getting are what was promised.
The only downside is that the upload speed is capped by there parent company BT don't see why they should do this.
Hope I haven't jinxed my connestion now !!

    Hi
have now been with plusnet for 3 months following o2 sale to Sky. Did not move as had terrible service from sky.Speedy set and getting 19mbs. The only compaint I have is that at busy times there can be a long delay in getting through to customer service, though it is free unlike some. When you do get through very helpful and technical issues dealt with promptly

After reading the reviews , maybe my family are one off the lucky few. Only took broadband fibre with PlusNet .
Router arrived well in advance , service was switched over the day before.
Download speed is way faster than we had before , although I must say slightly disappointed with the upload speed of only up to 2 mb.
Connection is stable , maybe I have jinxed that now . Hoping we don't experience problems in the next few months after reading the reviews.

I've chosen Plusnet for a second time as I had no problems with them last time. I've always found the connection date accurate and have never had problems with speed or connection. I have given customer service a 3, as I've never needed to contact them {must be a good thing}. Very reasonable price and good service - router delivered well in advance, and notification when service is ready. I plugged in and in 5 minutes was ready to go. No problems connecting PC, phones etc.

I've moved from TalkTalk which is by far the worse company I've EVER dealt with. Plusnet is by far better with good reliability, good value packages and generally good customer service from people who are located in the country who can understand what you're saying and you can understand what they're saying. Customer hold times can be long but there is an option to do webchats which are wicker (assuming you have internet connection). Overall a very good broadband provider in a market full of crooks

Switched from BT and wanted to continue to use my BT router so had to contact Plusnet customer services. Glad it was 0800! Pressed the wrong button and went to the wrong dept. I was v.quickly transferred to the correct dept who assessed what I needed and transferred me to technical support. After a 3 min wait (I was warned that as it was 5:30pm that they were busy!)I was quickly and politely talked through the process and checked that I had access. Whole thing took just over 10 mins. After BT and TaklTalk it was a wonderful change. 48 hours in still waiting for the Bband to get up to speed but has improved already.

I actually sought out a review site where I could leave my feedback for Plusnet, because their service has been that good.

We've been with them for a few months and are also in the process of completing a house move, so we've done a reasonable test of their service. All I can say, is that our experience has been excellent throughout.

We took their 2.99 unlimited broadband deal, paid the line rental up front, and signed up for an 18 month contract. Getting us up and running was smooth and hassle free; all their communication is via email or mobile text message, but they communicate a lot and updates are frequent, which I like.

The broadband speed is okay. I haven't actually checked what speed we're getting but it's fine for our use, which includes some surfing, game downloads for the children and on demand tv use through YouView. We've had to reboot the router a couple of times, but we had to do that a lot more when we were on SKY.

The service in the house move has been excellent. They booked an engineer and then text us the day before to let us know that all the work could be done at the exchange and so the engineer visit wouldn't be needed, hence saving us a day off work.

When we arranged the house move, they offered to waive all moving and connection costs, and reduce the monthly broadband charge from £9.99 to £5.99, if we extended our contract from 18 months to 2 years. So, we got the option to stay with a brilliant supplier and save money! Erm....let me think about that for a while....

Clearly others have had poor service or poor experiences, but I have only good things to say about Plusnet. I think their service is brilliant and absolutely way above the very poor service we had for years with SKY. I just wouldn't go anywhere else.

I have been with Plusnet for over a year now, I have the occasional drop in connection But this may be due to the fact I do not leave my router on at all times, I've read this can affect speed. I would recommend Plusnet as the problems are few and nothing worth complaining about, but I nothing if perfect with technology, Ive been with many providers over the past 10 years and find that they all encounter minor problems here and there

Just changed from Bt as they were getting too expensive and broadband service was poor, always cutting out. It was so easy to change over, plus net did everything for us including cancelling BT. The changeover only took two weeks, we kept our own landline number, so easy. The lads at customer service were pleasant and helpful. Let's see how it goes.....hopefully good service will continue.

Although our broadband speed could be higher we still like the reliability and customer service of Plusnet.

Great so far just switched, they kept me up to date on the process, advised change over would be 4/05/2016 by the latest but up and running by 1500 on the 3/05/2016. Very happy
