Broadband deals in Southampton
Southampton enjoys an excellent level of access to home broadband services. In 2020, we found it to be the best city when it comes to broadband speed.
Some Southampton residents have also been connected to a full fibre network, meaning they could enjoy ultrafast speeds up to 1Gb.
But even if your nearest exchange offers a particular service, it doesn't mean it will be available at your home. This is why you should always check coverage for yourself, which you can do by entering your address into our comparison table to filter deals by location.
Our tables also allow you to filter by key factors such as monthly price or broadband speed.
What does future of broadband in Southampton look like?
While regular home broadband is readily available in the city, some Southampton residents also have the option of ultrafast gigabit broadband from FTTP provider, Hyperoptic. Its first Southampton services went live in 2016, serving new-build flats and offices, and it's been expanding its network ever since.
Improvements to broadband in Southampton and the rest of the county are being funded by Hampshire Superfast Broadband as part of the wider BDUK program. To date, over £104m has been allocated for CityFibre broadband upgrades in Hampshire, and it's now assisting with the rollout of Project Gigabit (a government scheme to give 85% of properties in the UK access to 1Gb broadband by 2025).
