BT Business Home Broadband Reviews

The business broadband from BT is unusable. You will need to replace the Smart Business Hub as it cannot deal with NAT if you have a public IPv4 subnet from BT. This is because the Smart Hub will only allow NAT for inside devices that it has leased an IP address to itself. Static IP addresses on inside devices will just not work so forget running any web and e-mail servers which have a service or daemon that must be bound to a static IP address. There are, of course, many third-party routers which will do this without any problems. Beware asking BT for details of how to configure these as you will not get them. You will need to be careful when ordering BT Business Broadband as the speed where I am is very slow and I have been trapped into a contract with a ridiculously low Stayfast guaranteed minimum speed of 4.2 Mbps. As the salesman had told me 9.5 Mbps, and this had indeed been the case with my previous residential broadband, I did not check this figure which very unfairly favors BT if I need to terminate the contract due to the poor performance. Regarding speed, the upstream connection is generally 0.6-0.9 Mbps which means it is impossible to host any web-based solution. For a business product this is a major shortcoming. The speed drops to an unusable rate every time it rains and has recently stopped working altogether. I have had no phone or broadband service for many days now and don’t expect to have any phone or broadband until the other side of Christmas. Fortunately the consumer rights act and ofcom are on my side and I will be leaving BT on the grounds of them not providing a service with reasonable skill and care (The Stayfast minimum of 4.2 Mbps, service degradation whenever it rains, and multiple connection failures demonstrate this!), the router not being fit for purpose and the minimum guaranteed speed being so far below the Advertised speed as to constitute misselling! I genuinely wish I had never chosen BT Business Broadband. The service is poor, slow, unreliable and very expensive. If you want a business product with a static public IPv4 address I suggest you look elsewhere.

If you are a business- DO NOT USE THESE JOKERS. BT is in melt down. Choose another supplier. They simply cut off our Business Internet access for days at a time- try getting it back on? No chance- you have been warned- they say its a mistake all the time? That does not help your business. And get this!! They claim they no longer have a complaints department so you have no one to complain too? :) Seriously- the board needs to be sacked BT is a company in free fall even the employees think so

Very slow internet

My experience of BT service is diabolical. I signed up for a supposed 52Mbps Fibre package back in November 2016. When the service came online I ended up with 38Mbps. When I complained I was told that I had been mis-quoted about the 52Mbps. They then knocked £9.00 a month off the rental after I threatened to end the contract. Since then the speed has gradually decreased to a point where it is now down to 27Mbps. I've had to call on BT to fix a noisy line three times - each time they have charged me even though the fault is always on their equipment. I've now had 5 days of sporadic broadband and they won't even admit there is a fault with their systems. My advice to anyone is avoid BT like the plague !

After finally deciding (a few days ago) to renew rather than leave, I am already regretting. BT has turned Corporate Arrogance into an art form. Its administration is a raft of scandalous inefficiency only matched by a cynical but well coached disregard for customer service of any kind.

Mis sold by BT business that we would have fibre broadband. Snail like speeds. Mis billing including today for just under £1,000. Installed two lines instead of one....customer service non existent. My business is loosing so much money!!!!!!

Very slow speed and line keeps dropping out, making it difficult to apply for jobs, etc. online as you don't know whether the submission has been completed if it drops at last minute. Watching you-tube is difficult but i-player, etc. is impossible.

what a load of rubbish appalling speed one no service at all, no chance of watching a movie unless you like rebooting the router and it crashing hanging every few mins BT appealing customer services Oh and the can't get my address right for billing Stunned

Have been trying unsuccessfully since July to convince BT (Openreach)that the broadband service is intermittent ie it slows down or stops a couple of times a week. They disagree and have told me to find another ISP!

Rural area braodband so slow it's a joke. Can't run a business on the speeds 2 mg

CONS: 1) BT Business Broadband has been very unreliable. 2) When problems occur there is no one to talk to AND when you get through your passed to so many people and each one requiring me to explain the problem repeatedly. 3) BT Screwed up the billing. After repeated calls they did resolve it. 4) Additional charges have been added to account but no explanation. I have given up now. 5) The broadband continually stops working at least once a day for 15 minutes. No explanation is ever given. 6) The Broadband 460 Router is totally rubbish. The signal fluctuates so much I end up using my 3 Mobile Broadband. So forget the WIFI. No wonder its given away free. PROS: 1) At least you'll eventually get the problem resolved.

We pay top and get very a unreliable service and only rarely contact anyone at BT to report faults. Even after reporting a fault nothing is done. The service has got much worse as more people are added to the line in this area. It is far worse than I could get if I move out of the UK.

We switched our line supplier but kept the broadband with BT and the speed, which was already slow and unreliable, has dropped significantly.
