Zen Fibre is a SCAM. Avoid at all cost. I have been a client of Zen for the last 3 years. I upgraded to fibre and it has been a disaster. Speed is down to 10 Mb/s. I am told by Zen technical advice staff that is a wireless problem but I am using the 2 routers provided by ZEN. total rubbish. Ofcom should take good note and sanction these dishonest companies and protect consumers. WHICH should not recommend ZEN.

Nice people but the service has got worse over the years. First sign of a problem, and all they do is fob you off, test after test. 12 weeks later and a download speed of 0.1 upload speed of 6. Can't even watch catch up without whirring. Once you have a problem, they don't call you back and don't answer emails. AVOID AT ALL COST. Once you were great, now you're bad. Well done you.

My internet service provided by Zen has been unsatisfactory for over a year. Very slow during the week and unusable for long periods at the weekend when traffic is presumably high for domestic users. At the same time I have been able to use the BT internet service (copper wires) provided by my wife's company using a router which is positioned in our house just a couple of feet from the Zen router. Last year I spent about 7 hours on the phone to Zen tech support when their service (but not the BT service) stopped working completely. One day this problem mysteriously disappeared and they never bothered to explain to me what the problem was but I am sure it was at their end as the problem eventually got resolved without me trying anything new. As a last attempt to solve the ongoing slow internet problem I bought a new top of the range Zyxel router and upgraded to their fibre service. This has made no difference, the service in the week is no where near the speed I have been quoted (it is normally around 5.5mbps) and it has again become unusable at the weekend I am having to use my wife's BT service to make this entry. I only use the internet for email and visiting web sites and occasional downloads of documents but the service is not fast enough even to support this. Finally, after over a year of problems, Zen offered to carry out some diagnostic tests on the BT line they use and were quick to point point out that I may have to pay for this in some circumstances. Some way to treat a customer of 10 years standing who has received a lousy service from ZEN, including unsatisfactory internet for over a year. My impression is that this company is going downhill and although they do employ polite technical assistants to help customers, they lack the drive and motivation and perhaps expertise to sort out problems experienced by customers.

Went to Zen after another well-known supplier kept raising their prices. We joined something called 'The Big Switch' (which has transitioned into 'Look After My Bills'). As part of that they put out a collective bargaining and offered a great deal with Zen. Had never heard of them at the time, so asked my friends on Facebook and got positive feedback. Not long into the contract the speed dropped and it's been terrible ever since - I often hotspot my phone and use 4G as it's better!
The router looks like something out of the 90s, and although located in the front room reaches the loft room ok, although the back bedrooms can be intermittent.
I filled out a survey about the poor speed and Zen proactively contacted me, to their credit. Since then, however, I just get passed from person to person. If don't respond to their emails within a day I get hounded by the technical staff, yet they take best part of a week to respond to mine. They claim to phone and leave messages, yet this has only happened once - today the same, yet my phone has been beside me and not rung all day! To rectify the 'fault' (which one person tells me is external to my property, another tells me it's on my property) I have to agree to 'potential charges' when I've been paying for over a year for substandard broadband. My advice? Avoid these and go with a larger reputable company that has the 'Oomph' to get things done when they need doing.

I've been with Zen nearly 13 years for wi-fi (tied in through tenency) and know these people and their rubbish very, very well.

Very simply, Zen internet doesn't work, is not going to work, is not fit for purpose and will not preform to any kind of reasonable or even just basic standard. You'll be very lucky if you can stream a YouTube video....and there is nothing you can do about it other than change your provider.

They won't improve anything ever and there's no point contacting them so don't bother.

I went down this road a few times and all they'll do is waste your time with some rubbish about ethernet wires.

Bottom lines are they cannot and will not provide a reasonable service and you will not be able to use the internet.

    Typically British organisation.

Fundamentally sub-standard and want money for nothing.

    Avoid altogether.

Left Talktalk for Zen just over 12 months ago because my broadband slowed down at peak periods. Zen started off reliable but over the past six the internet has started to randomly go off for several hours (it can be okay for a few weeks then it crashes).
Zen has a log of these issues but no explanations, and not all my outages are recorded.
I've changed all the cables and still issues; Zen say it could be the fibre router (now out of warranty) and say I should borrow one to test despite me saying there's no pattern to it crashing - and who is going to let me use their router for a few hours/days?
The easy solution would be to send me a router to test but no, they won't; have been told I could buy a new router but that might not be the problem.
My contract is up in Sept so I'll be leaving; I told them this and they got very defensive.

Unfortunately, I've had a really bad experience with Zen and had read good things so have been really disappointed. I signed up for a new FTTP service 1 month ago (3 weeks before the activation date) to give Zen enough time to get it ready for the activation date. I had information to say the service was activated and ready to go on the assigned date - great! However, nothing worked. I contacted Tech Support and was sent around the houses a few times before they realised the line was provisioned at the incorrect address and now I'm being told the line needs to be 'cancelled' before a new one is activated and that could take until the end of the week. This would be 1 month+ since ordering. The tech teams seems to be doing what they can but the communication hasn't been good and I'm also concerned about my data as I got a call from an Openreach engineer planning a visit who had the incorrect address for me.

Two contracts for two separate properties. Zen have charged a £20 connection fee for a rolling monthly contract which is advertised as 'no set up fee.' That basic broadband has been working.
The second contract is for fibre. I have just measured speed six days into this contract - 0.10mpbs. I have stopped watching online film for the second time in 30 minutes and the second evening since Zen took over my service. At other times, speed reaches 40mpbs.
With property 1, my router would not connect to Zen. It had connected with my previous ISP (not supplied with that ISP so not tethered to them/blocked). Zen had no answer. It connected after I switched off my mobile phone and gave up with tech support.
Both connections took in excess of 5-6 hours to be up and running.
Will be wasting work time again tomorrow - ringing Zen. Feel foolish for believing Which's recommendation.

I've been trying to transfer from BT to Zen for exactly one week and have got absolutely nowhere.
I placed an order with Zen who told me that they were not able to process it as there was an open order on my line.
Since then I've been batted back and forth between BT and Zen - BT telling me there is absolutely no open order on my line, Zen telling me that there is.
In order to speak to anyone at Zen Customer Services you typically have to wait between 10 and 30 minutes or more to get through. At the moment of writing this I have been on a call to them that has now lasted 41 minutes.

If this is a foretaste of their customer services I think I would rather not bother with them.
Meanwhile what I think of BT is unprintable.

you can not believe the issues we had with this company since we hired them. We can not leave zen because we had 1 year contract but in fact internet never worked properly. they always made quick fix and issue is back few hours or days later. if you leave a review on trustpilot they will report it in order to get it removed , and that is why they got only good reviews so PLEASE BE AWARE they not provided a good service, for us always being a nightmare and also when wanted to leave Zen a manager call us and told us we dont have to pay any fee as we made 15 claims of not working internet in 7 months of contract!!! more than 2 per month!! so they were agreed to not pay a penny but now all is different and they are claiming us 83 £ for ending our contract earlier!!! so we will make formal complaints seeing they said one day one thing and next day a different thing so be aware about that, we are living around Camden and not working on this area!!!!!!!

Can't give less than one! Horrible service from the word go. I was with Virgin all these years and made a mistake of switching over to Zen purely based on Which? review. Installation engineer did not know he is coming for installation. He rather thought it is for repair. When he arrived he found Zen had not delivered BT openreach modem to me. Modem for unlimited ultrafast 4 fibre optic service? He had to go and get it. Took whole day to install. In the end he said everything is working and left When I tried to connect, realised Zen had not spoken to BT to activate the service. Contacted Zen. No one in Zen seems to know what was happening. Children and myself left with no internet for days. Could not do their home works. Speed- rubbish, compared to Virgin. Thinking of leaving the contract and going back to virgin at a significant cost. Horrible tech support; don't seem to know where the problem was. AVOID ZEN!

As a new customer I was excited to try Zen. I signed the contract and then everything went wrong. Firstly router was sent to the wrong address and then on installation day they decided to not install it due to various reasons. I was COVID positive so I did explain 3 days before installation that my landlord and neighbor would facilitate the day and I'd not be going to the new flat (I remained at my current property whilst they were at my new place to help with the install which did not go ahead). I rang the engineer on the day (lanlord gave me his number) and he said he'd get back to me in 15 mins to let me know what's happening.. by end of the day I heard nothing, they just left and did not install it. A wasted day. My lanlord had a funeral that day and still tried to help me get it sorted by being there and it did not happen. I complained and their excuses ranged from COVID to me not signing a form (apparently I had signed so that wasn't the issue and COVID wise I wasn't there, my neighbor and lanlord were). Fast forward to today the new plan was for the install to happen and I'd be there (they gave a 8 - 1pm time slot). They turned up at 5.30pm no apologies no updates after they were late, nothing. I'm absolutely appalled. When I rang them up at 1.30pm they said give it until 6pm even though the time they gave was 8 - 1. I wasted an entire day waiting for them to arrive. I don't understand why the engineers can't ring you to say they won't make it until later on I'd have been okay with that, I could have gone home and done something with my day but heard nothing. I know it's not Zens fault but the engineers install your internet they should also communicate to the customers. The worst thing is if I wasn't there it would be a £90 fine but for them it's okay to not stick to their appointment times.

So i have been with zen for a while now and i noticed that my speeds were starting unusually slow, 0.5-1.5 mbps and i thought that i would just leave it as there maybe something wrong with my line. A few months later and i contacted zen to find out that my speed has been capped at 2 mbps, and we were not told about this, and now apparently after calling on thursday i have to wait till tuesday for the cap to be removed, pretty outrageous, paying £50 a month for 2 mbps

I had zen broadband service for nearly 3 weeks into a 12 month contract. Then Monday the 2nd of November came and no internet. For some very bizarre reason our phone line had been cut off from the exchange through no fault of our own at all. So I phoned zen and what seemed to happen from 4 or 5 lengthy phone calls is that my phone line had been cut off so they cancelled my contract- stone dead! So after 3 weeks of use I had no option but to pay zen £357 to end my contract. YES YOU HEARD THAT RIGHT. Cannot believe that I bought this on recommendation from which! Magazine . Daylight thieving robbing lot I will be in contact with which to find out what I can do!! Iv now read more into your reviews and am now realising that you tell other CUSTOMERS that there telephone line has "ceased" also BUYER BEWARE

Worst broadband provider doesn't care. don't give you 13 days cooling off period. would never trust them and customer service needs.to improve and the service the rules of zen are not following the rules of the government guidelines and breaking the contract with the department of working pensions. And breaking the code of practice will Never trust them and the sooner I get rid of them the better and get on a cheaper broadband provider who is well known and reliable.

I asked to cancel, and I was told i was in contract before I had gone active with Zen and by law you can't have two broadband providers at the same house landline. as open openreach will not alow it

I had very high hopes for this service based on good reviews, including ' Which'. I ignored my reservations on the high cost plus the expensive router which I was assured would provide better speeds. The service worked okay for 4-6 weeks. Since then I've had consistently slow speeds of 3, 5 and 7 - yes really. The slow speeds usually happen after 8 pm and weekends when the call centre is closed. Even on a 'good'day the speed is mediocre at best. The high monthly cost cannot justify the poor service. Unfortunately I can't cancel my contract without penalty until April 2018. Would not recommend.

Unbelievably bad customer service. Multiple appointments for technicians to arrive resulting in no shows after 5 hours of waiting. After final "completion" still no working internet (more than a month later and two months after they very efficiently charged me 180 GBP in advance). A horrible experience. STAY AWAY.

I chose Zen as they appeared to have good reviews on local websites. However, their provision is beyond bad. We have unlimited fibre but it is pointless as the speeds are so slow it makes all but the most basic Internet browsing impossible. The one thing they have given me is a new found ability to live life without TV,or much use of the net. Our contract is up in december and we will be leaving. They have never offered an apology or tried to really 'fix' our problem, but continue to take £48 (yes you heard correct) per month off us for the privilege of zero Internet. BUYER BEWARE!

    Staggeringly bad customer service.

Called up on moving into a new home. 2-3 weeks and we'd be set, they said! Then booked an engineer appointment in a month's time. Engineer never showed up, no call or email. Then they said we didn't need an engineer after all, the line had been activated. Line didn't work. They thought about it, and suggested... an engineer callout! In a month's time! For £130! And STILL no broadband of any description. Absolute joke. Avoid like the plague.

I switched to Zen in mid February as I was fed up with BT price hike. Since the 2 week cooling off period ended, every weekend we have had constant losses to our connection at peak times. Zen keep saying that there is interference on the line, even though drop outs only happen at weekends. I would not recommend them and will go back to BT next year.

A truly terrible experience so far migrating from Sky. My Sky broadband was cut off last Thursday without any warning. Zen was meant to connect me last Monday. They didn't 'because of the recent bad weather.' They told me I'd be connected today. I haven't been. I need an internet connection as I work remotely. This is seriously poor service.

Really don't understand how this provider is recommended - we have had an awful time . Internet doesn't reach ground floor despite using Zen every room. Internet keeps dropping off in the middle of a movie. Have called technical support several times and nothing helps. Even went to the expense of buying an additional Orbi router and still unsatisfactory. Don't use Zen !!!

Stay away from these guys...worst experience, and bad costumer service...for months now we are going back and forth about them wanting to charge us installation fee twice...as when first installation was scheduled the person never showed up even though I took a day off and waited for him all day...even manage to get the guys number through costumer service that day when it was getting late...texted him, said he is coming "back" then just disappeared and never answered further messages later, anyway they asking for a charge for rescheduling...guess it's their way of making money with a scam.. meanwhile after hours and hours spent on the phone and while us paying the monthly fee regularly and the first installation fee (for nothing) I still can't use internet at all... really disappointed

ZERO stars would be a more apt rating for this utterly diabolical company who offer diabolical tech support, endlessly send threatening emails if you are late paying your extortionate bill which is for a service totally unfit for purpose, useless tech support, I think these guys read from flow charts, they are a bunch of cowboys and amateurs, they blame your equipment to cover up for their total incompetence, endless price hikes, service got worse by the month, hideously slow speeds, and to top it all I complained and was brutally insulted by email by their top guy who was as vile and obnoxious as the bullying billing staff and arrogant amateur tech guys, I was glad to escape them I had 7 years of help with them and ID net who resell for them are just as bad.
My advice - steer well clear they are diabolical and thanks to them I almost lost my home and business, I lose lots of money and clients because of these cowboys, endless outages bad phone lines, cannot say a good word about them sorry. Bad company, bad staff, bad service and all for a huge extortionate price. I paid £67.50 per month for a useless flakey outage ridden ADSL broadband and two landlines. They still wanted more but I left as they are not worth a carrot let alone hard earned cash.

this is my 12th day without broadband, and I just can’t get Zen deal with it. I realise they’re in the hands of Openreach, but Zen’s customer support is awful. You can’t get through on the phone, and when you do they can’t do anything to help. Zen are definitely now nothing like the company they once were when I first joined.

Horrendous service! We live in a 2 bedroom detached house, very small house and only have wifi in 2 of the rooms, sometimes in teh one directly about the router. Have had to use 4G instead most the time! They said they couldn't help it wasn't part of the contract and then charged me £200 for leaving after I had been with them for 2 years

I was with Zen internet for a couple of years after hearing they were really good (and reading many good reviews. Unfortunately their so called great customer service was a real let down. A few years ago some work was badly done where the phone/internet lines come into the house and we started having problems with the internet. No matter how many times I called and explained this to Zen they refused to contact BT to send an engineer. So I changed to Virgin. We also had similar problems so I call then and they sent an engineer and a network team to the street two days later. It got fixed! I highly recommend Virgin, they actually give a damn about their customers. P.S: I pay a lot less now with Virgin too and my wifi now is constantly at 80+mbps

Expensive, slow speeds, poor customer service, very dated web interface.

Was told Fibre wasn't available when moving house and they put me onto a broadband contract for 1 year. After checking sometime after Fibre is available but through other providers.

Rather than roll my contract over when moving house they started new contract locking me into it.

My new Broadband connection was under 2mb download most evenings. I was promised 20mb. Worked with tech support for almost a month and did not find a solution.Gave up.

The web portal for managing your services and account is extremely dated.

Rude customer service on phone. On one occasion the lady ended up saying "I cant help you mate".

They advertise themselves as putting customers first but clearly this isnt the case anymore. Avoid.

Avoid them as they don't reply to emails,

Only work Monday to Friday 9 to 5pm in the call centre don't recommend them to anyone and when I've spoke to people they have said there dreadful in the service ,

The only way to get through to them is Send letters in the post as they have to read them as they can't avoid the postage letter,

There holding me to cancellation fees when I'm in my cooling off period of £613.13 of which I refuse to pay

My BT Broadband and Landline contract was due to end 22/2/19 and having done some online research I felt that it might be time to try a new provider. Having looked at a number of different reviews, Zen seemed to be an attractive option with excellent reviews for speed, service, support etc

    The timeline is as follows:-

10/2/19 Contacted BT to confirm end of policy for 22/2/19

10/1/19 Contacted Zen to order Broadband / Landline package with a planned activation date of 22/2/19 (correct date)

11/1/19 Received email from Zen confirming activation date of 25/1/19!!! Contacted Zen to change date to agreed 22/2/19. Was informed that they would check recorded phone conversation to clarify

21/1/19 Received Zen Hub from DPD group

8/2/19 Received email conforming activation date of 22/219 (correct date)

8/2/19 Received email containing username and password for hub

8/2/19 Received letter from BT confirming 22/2/19 as leave/transfer date

19/2 11:24 Received email from Joel explaining that landline transfer rejected
19/2 12:15 Received email confirming landline transfer
19/2 13:30 Received email that activation will occur 5/3/19!!!

Having given Zen 6 weeks to organise a simple transfer of landline and broadband they have failed.

Following the last email I spoke with a representative who explained that there was an issue with this case. I took my dog for a walk, pondered the situation and decided that the service and support so far had raised a number of alarm bells and I rang back to discuss the case with the same person. After ringing your number and going through the options (of leaving Zen etc) I then was then kept waiting for 30 mins before I could get through (see enclosed picture)

I did read a reply to one of your complaints that you offer a call back facility, unfortunately this is not true and while i was holding on for 30 mins this was never offered…..only a 'please hold all our team are busy’.

It takes years to build a good reputation and they have ruined theirs in less than 6 weeks.

    Avoid

    Extremely Disappointing - Avoid!

Zen are very expensive so I wrongly assumed we would get a much better service than we did from Sky. Zen’s service speeds are even slower.

Since the very beginning we have had problems with Zen Internet.

We are getting nowhere near the Typical download speed they advertised. They still won’t let us change providers without huge early termination charges despite speeds that are much slower than promised.

Save yourself loads of hassle and avoid Zen Internet!
