Absolutely awful - don't go near them! I signed up to an 18 month package with superfast broadband on a special offer. Broadband was installed but it took about 3 weeks to book the engineer and the line speed is extremely slow. I am now moving house within London and I've been told superfast broadband fibre isn't available at my new address, even though the BT openreach website says it is. I've been told that I have to enter a new 18 month contract just because I'm moving house and that Talktalk can't guarantee my package price if fibre broadband becomes available in my area. Oh, and also I was told an engineer would visit to install my TV box and that never materialised, it was just a hoax to get me to sign up. Completely hopeless and terrible customer service!

Absolute rubbish, their service is NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE, their customer help relies on you getting bored and hanging up.... thus not resolving anything but at the same time you stay a "paying customer" so they are happy and you as a customer are left feeling totally helpless, angry, frustrated etc..... phone call was 35 minutes and ongoing... anyone want proof can ask to see my phone records.

I've just happily paid talk talk 90pound to put me out of my misery and let me cancel my broadband and new view package (on the phone for 2 hours), After yet again another week without being able to use my phone or broadband and being told I would need to pay for an engineer to come to my house to carry out checks.
This company is a joke it is never there problem was with sky for 2years before I changed and not one problem have now rejoined and they have also given me 90 pounds in high street vouchers, I wouldn't recommend talk talk to anybody just pay the extra pound a month and take your business to a company that wants it

I've had speed issues with talktalk broadband for the past 2 months. Every time I call the support number one of the following things happen:
1- they can't solve the issue, hence hang the phone up.
2- they say they're a manager and will solve the issue, but they don't at the end.
3- they send a talktalk engineer over, who is more useless that the phone support.
4- they send BTOpenReach engineer, who says nothing is wrong.
5- the above cycle gets repeated two to three times.
6- you want to make a complaint, but then there is no one more senior than the technical manager, hence he reports the complaints on the system and no one will call you back.
7- you get so frustrated that you want to cancel the contract, but they don't allow you.
8 - your contract runs out, then talktalk sales people keep calling you to make sure you sign another 18 months contract with them.

Then they charge you £65 for a visit from an engineer who couldn't fix the problem. AVOID AVOID AVOID

My visually impaired, hearing impaired 82 year old mother had all Talk Talk Services cut without warning - she has only just opened an account with them. We paid a reconnection fee despite there being plenty of money in her account for a direct debit to be taken. We are now unable to solve the problem because NO ONE will speak to us at Talk Talk unless we pay the bill - that would be be the bill we just direct debited from her account PLUS 2 reconnection fees which they have happily taken.
I am so furious, how utterly ridiculous that Talk Talk can refuse to speak to customers with problems. I wish I could sue them for the distress and fear they have caused my elderly mother. There is no justice. These large organisations completely please themselves. Disgusting.

The customer service agents are perfectly nice, however they have a script and have to stick to it, no matter what. If you escalate, the 'supervisor/manager/whatever' has to go through exactly the same script no matter the relevance. If the script doesn't fit your call, the only way to get resolution is to go through the ceo's office.

The speed into the house/router/via ethernet is just about perfect. However, what they don't tell you is that the wifi signal on the router they provide will only give you around half speed. They cite (rightly) other signals etc reducing the wifi., however my own situation, where there is nothing that could reduce the wifi signal, means that this does not stack up.
The sales agent was misinformed, assuring me that there would be no more than a couple of MB wifi drop in speed.

A visiting engineer out and out lied.
Some Talk Talk engineers and BT Engineers are pro-actively telling the customer how rubbish TalkTalk is which doesn't help create any faith in the company.

    Reliability is excellent.

Well, I moved from BT to Talktalk and wish I hadn't the service is shocking given a date for connection, in which they missed the migration date, leaving me without any phone services. After 7 phone calls to the customer service department in India, we're I was treated as if they could not care less if I was conected or not. On the 7th phone whilst I was talking to a manager about my concerns I was told the same think ie it's BT's fault and to wait 48 hrs to get a connection. This simply was not good enough, this would have been a week since my go live date. In the same call I decided to cancel the service as it sounded that it was never going to happen and was transferred to the cancellation department, where it was cancelled then to be told that there will be no charges. Stunned and shocked the other day to find that I received a letter stating that I owe them £270.81 for the privilege of all the hassle....which is just a joke, as od yet I'm still waiting to sort it out! My advice STAY CLEAR OF THIS COMPANY!!

The worst one of all. Customer service is absent. The managers are having a laugh. I was overcharged by £80 for two months when they failed to cancel my contract. Response was "I can only apologise" and "Don't think you're paiying too much read at your bill breakdown not just the first page" this is two months after virgin took over. The manager was trying to say I pay good money for something I font use !!!! No comment

I was on the verge of believing that I was the only person affected by the appalling service provided by Talk Talk! It has taken me six months to implement the cancelation of a mobile phone contract and hours of my time being passed from one person to another.Every one expressed the view that they understood my problem but no one was prepared to do anything about it. If you want a definition of the Dickensian circomlocution office there is no need to read Bleak House just attempt a conversation with anybody from the Talk
    Talk Indian call centre.
I have been so angry with the shoddy treatment that I contacted Ofcom as I could not believe that their remit did not extend to cover this company.I'm afraid this was as much use as a chocolate fire guard and surely in an election year when cuts have to be made this must be a quango worthy of the axe! The ombudsman was similarly difficult to pin down and given the number of complaints on this web site singularly ineffective.

I canceled my account and gave them 30 days notice. Two weeks later I got a bill from them for the next month. When I called them I spent an hour and a half on the phone for them to tell me it was their agent's mistake and I could give them 30 days notice and now and cancel it and that I'd have to pay for the extra two weeks and that they would generously waive the brakeage fee even though there wasn't going to be a brakage fee in the beginning since my contract was ending. Their customer service is a joke.

Absolute rubbish. The call centre in India is manned by people who jyust read off scropts and have no interest in solving your problem. My wireless router is seldom functioning fully. I may get wireless connectivity but no internet access. Since I use this broadband for business purposes this is unacceptable. I've lodged several complaints and received an email saying a Talk Talk manager would contact me in 3 days, that was 2 weeks ago and I've still not heard from anyone. They suggested sending a Talk Talk engineer out at a cost of £65, I refused because of the cost. I've been with AOL for more than 20 years, Compuserve before then, and am loath to leave because my email address is well known in business circles worldwide (where I work!!). I will have to leave because I cannot stand the stress of trying to contact someone in AOL/Talk Talk who will at least try and resolve my problem (or at least supply me with a new router, which I beleieve to be the issue). Never, never, get involved with uselesss company even if it is cheap. I've lost so much business because of them its unbelievaable.

I was a customer of Talktalk a few months ago. I was constantly unable to access my account online, persistently unable to access my email. They constantly messed up my account and they finally restricted my services and told me to pay them 2 weeks before the bill was even due! A few months later they are harrassing me with debt collectors for over £700 !!!! I am so livid! I have never ever experienced such absolute crap from any other company I have ever dealt with! Even when I tried to phone them I had to constantly repeat myself to them and nothing was ever properly solved! Sign up to Talktalk at your peril!!!!!

Avoid TalkTalk like the plague, what an absolutely terrible company to deal with! Not only was my connection constantly intermittent and the speed slow, but the customer service from their call centres is frankly disgusting! I have only been with them for 4 months and have moved over to Virgin Media now where I will be getting around 140mbps compared to 1.7mbps from TalkTalk! AVOID!

STAY CLEAR!!! terrible customer service. Call centres are full of foriegners, complete breakdown in communication every time you have a problem. We pay over £50 a month for TV, Phone and 38MB broadband, the broadband speeds were 38MB for the first month then quickly dropped to bellow 20mb. Forever seeing engineers out to our property and now they want to charge us £65 for a line repair that was installed less than a year ago! We are locked into contract until October otherwise we would cancel. Do yourself a favour and pay the extra £5 a month for BT themselves. Exact same package better service.

My issues with TalkTalk first began with a crackle on my phone line. This affected my broadband service and (due to having an upgraded package) it affected my television too.

The first way that TalkTalk tried to resolve this was by upselling Fibre Optic to me, which involved signing up to a new 18 month contract - as if I was going to commit to them when I wasn't even receiving the service that I was paying for.

The problem escalated to the point where I had no broadband or television for 22 days. A BT engineer came to my property and confirmed that my line was fine - yet TalkTalk continually failed to resolve the issue.

After 10-15 phone calls and 2 postal letters, I decided to leave TalkTalk. Despite having had no service for 22 days (and no end in sight), I had to fight to have the early termination charge waived.

As I had to give 30-days termination notice, I also had to fight to ensure that I wouldn't be charged for my final month.

Each time I called the contact centre, I had to explain the whole charade and wait on hold for up to 25 minutes at a time whilst the call handler read the notes on my account. Even after reading the notes, the call handler did not understand my situation and repeatedly I was told incorrect information. Failing that, the call handler would transfer me around about and in one instance I spoke to four different representatives.

During one of the latter phone calls, I was informed that the reason for my lack of broadband was because TalkTalk were delivering a Fibre Optic service to my standard broadband modem. Despite the fact that I had been on their Essentials Broadband package for the previous 12 months.

The call handler changed some settings and within 24 hours, I had a connection again! So after 22 days of confusion and no answers, the situation was resolved as easy as that.

After finally closing my account, I received a bill for £154.

It then took a further 1 hour and 37 minutes on the phone to get the charges waived (as previously agreed by a complaints manager).

Quite frankly, I am appalled and gobsmacked that the company manages to function on a day-to-day basis. Their obvious lack of internal communication is frustrating at best and their technical support team clearly lack the knowledge required.

I cannot advise against TalkTalk strongly enough.

I have spent hours on the phone to sort out an email address trying to get it unlinked from one my account to another account. trying to get hold of tech support is near on impossible you asked to be transferred and that is a job on its own and they say that they will ring back I would not hold your breath. I am trying to sort this for a friend I cannot understand how a big company cannot sort out a problem as small as this. or is it hard

Awful awful awful. Awful. We moved from Sky and were getting speeds of around 5mbs. Moved to Talktalk, and it dropped to under 2.

This has so far taken over 2 weeks for them to sort out, and nothing has improved. Finally, it was agreed an engineer would visit. Due to an emergency medical procedure, we had to postpone the engineer (which took 15 minutes on the phone to do.) No one passed-on the message so I had an angry engineer calling from my doorstep even though we'd called to postpone.

My phone number was unexpectedly changed, and they haven't written to give us our new number.

I have so far spent 3 hours on the phone to them, and no progress has been made. One call centre operative insisted on calling me Richard. My name isn't Richard. I told him that and he carried on calling me Richard.

They can't even get the basics right - avoid like the plague.

    Beware of deception!

Don't join thinking you're getting value for money. You will eventually end up paying much more in total than you can imagine

My account charges kept increasing ever so slightly every month since joining till near the end of the year contract I was paying nearly double what I was originally promised. None of this was stated in the T&Cs either.

God help you if you mention leaving: they will CHARGE YOU LIKE CRAZY EVEN IF IT'S PAST YOUR CONTRACT PERIOD all sorts of things that are not in the T&Cs. If I was a lawyer, I would have took them to consumer court. Now, I can only pray that more people realize how deceptive this company is and it loses customers and ends up closing.
It is very depressing being taken advantage of illegally by a large corporation and noone notices.

Maybe there are happy TalkTalk customers and I was an exception to the rule but you never know if you are going to be the next victim.

I would never use TalkTalk personally as long as I'm alive or recommend any of their services to any friend (or even enemy) of mine

Edit: Oh & I forgot to mention their "wonderful" customer service but reading through the reviews, I'm assuming a lot of other customers have got that area covered.

First engineer appt didn't turn up (one day of my time waiting at home for no reason), 2nd appt was cancelled by a text message on the morning of the appt, 3rd appt I was sent an email telling me I had cancelled the order!!! when I phoned up the last time the guy on the phone tells me its a problem with BT and seemed more than happy for me to cancel my contract. no offer to try and improve or resolve the issues. I can not believe they have got this far as a company!

All - do yourselves an enormous favour and stay well clear of talktalk. Yes they have all the patter but don't deliver. We live on the edge of a metropolitan area but still can't get to see view on demand without endless buffering. This service is rubbish. Customer service is as friendly as Hitler at a Jewish wedding !! When are we going to stop these charlatans selling things they can't supply. I also have a home in the remote Scottish Highlands where BT are the only supplier. Yes we only get 512mb speed but at least it doesn't drop out every few minutes. Tonight I have had to restart the router 3 times and how now given up trying to watch catch up tv and am watching the News.

Please please please don't go to talktalk they really don't provide what they promise

I suppose at the end of the day you do ONLY GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR! !!!!!!!!

Please take care and don't ignore my advice. I am only trying to help.

    Hi,
RUN! AVOID THEM! WORSE CUSTOMER SERVICES AND BROADBAND EVER!

    How do I start?
I moved to Talk Talk about a year ago and it has been the worse thing I could ever do:

A month after I joined, I started experiencing issues with my speed and I was getting disconnected from internet every now and again! They recommended me in upgrading to fibre. The minimum contract when you upgrade is 3 years (according what I heard from the customer service representative)!!!! They offered me the chance to get a technician to come to my place but they warned me that if the problem was in my side, I would be charged with 50 pounds! What could I do! The issue was detected from the outside and he fixed it! Great job. I feel lucky I was not fooled with a 3-year-contract with Talk Talk. It would have been a nightmare to be calling their dreadful customer services number!

I then saw an offer to be able to call abroad using my phone and decided to try it, instead of using Skype! Big mistake! After 2 months, I had problems whereby my calls were getting disconnected or could hear strange noises in the line. I then called customer services to report the fault and I was asked to check my phone (which was less than a year old). I told them that the issue was not with my phone because I could hear the agent normally! He then asked me to try with more international numbers and I told her that I had already did that. He asked me to try with some more! Was he trying to ask me to call everyone in Barcelona or what? I was not going to try with all the phone numbers from every country, right? After calling several times in a week and trying to speak with someone in the other side, they decided to escalated to the technical team. After 2 weeks, they called me that they had found the problem and it was fixed. Hurrah! At last I could make calls! 3 weeks after reporting the issue!

Last but not least, happened on 5th April when I realised that they had cancelled my account. I had called on Monday and I asked my account to get disabled by April, NOT BEFORE, because I was moving back to Barcelona. I insisted in waiting to leave it the whole month of March! They told me that this would not be a problem. 2 days later, I realised that I was not able to call abroad or connect to my broadband. I called them and they told me that they could not find my phone number in their systems, but to try calling them the following day because their systems were DOWN! Great to see how a service provider can have problems with their systems! Are they REALLY OFFERING services to people! I called them the following day and asked them if they could call me as I was calling from my phone. They told me this was NOT an option. After asking for options, they offered me the chance to have my line and broadband activated for 3 months (which is the minimum period). Why should I want this, if I am moving back to Barcelona in less than a month? Is this a way to make more business from people? I now have to use the 3G from my phone to be able to access to Internet (this is NOT Talk Talk, luckily) You're doing an excellent business! I am glad for you!!!!!

Now I know who should I NOT trust and who will NOT be my network provider if I come back to UK
    Thanks Talk Talk!

Total rubbish! I unfortunately was taken in by the amazing Talk Talk offers I saw online and made the leap to Talk Talk. What Talk Talk fail to mention when you join is that your cheap internet is cheap because it doesn't work! When they got me connected (connected is really not an appropriate word to use) I had to call them as nothing worked. They told me they would likely charge me £50 as it would be my fault (the engineer confirmed it was nothing to do with me)!

Once that was sorted and I was 'connected' I was told that the slow speed I was experiencing was due to my house location and it was as fast as my broadband would ever go. I have never experienced such slow internet in the past 15 years! So if I am lucky and my internet is working at all (another nightmare of being with Talk Talk is it disconnects frequently EVERY SINGLE DAY) I have to wait 1-2 mins for a web page to load!! It's like being in the Stone Age. Their internet TV package is subsequently a total joke. Can't watch anything. Why don't I keep ringing customer services you might ask.... Because if you actually can get through they will charge you another £50 to sort out their mistake, something I can't afford and won't pay.
I really really wish I had seen the thousands of reviews like this before I signed up. I'm now having to count down the days until I can leave. Oh and just in case you are wondering, I had to disconnect my iPhone from the house Wi-Fi and use 3G to post this review. My internet wouldn't load the page on my phone :(

Summary of my review: AWFUL COMPANY. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. IF THERE WAS A RATING OF ZERO FOR CUSTOMER SERVICE I WOULD HAVE CHOSEN THAT. 1 STAR IS TOO HIGH!!

In November 2014, we rang TalkTalk to change our address having lived in temporary accommodation since September (during this time our account was suspended until we moved into our new home in November 2014). During this phone call we were provided with an initial date for an engineer to come to our new house in December 2014.

Unfortunately, having taken the full day off work to be available, the engineer did not turn-up. We were not satisfied with this and, as previously stated, lost a full day's pay at work. We expressed our dissatisfaction during this phone call and wished for our contract to be terminated with immediate effect, without charge. Due to the poor service we had received, it was confirmed that this would be without ANY termination of contract charge. We expected this to be the end of our involvement with TalkTalk.

In February 2015, we received a 'Final Demand' letter (dated 2nd February 2015) stating a payment of £200.65 was due!! A further phone call to TalkTalk was made on this date. The team member we spoke to was rude and reluctant to listen to our explanation and concern that this was not correct.

At the time of writing the issue STILL hasn't been resolved. Despite constant to-ing and fro-ing.

    AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

I! Also want to make my contributing comment about talktalk, the way I see it, it does exactly what says on the tin, just talk and nothing more, words only.I joined t.T.The middle july 2014 for the all package. The 15/1/14 I fell for a scam as they new all my personal account details and private pass word. When I realized I was being conned, I went to my bank, informed them of the problem called the police fraud dep. Then called talktalk costumer service and in details I told them everything as the conversation was being recordered, and the person I was talking with told me he was going to do everything possible to help. I then made a comment; it looks like somebody has leaked my personal details for whatever reason from your data base,as the conversation was being recordered, he said it is very likely as it has happened before;today 7/3/14 I have not yet received any answer yet from t.T.I don,t think they know the meaning and definition of responsible costumer service. So! I will not be able to give any rating below zero for it is not possible, I also wrote two letters and send them recordered deliveries, I know they received them, but no reply, very disappointing. Shame on you talktalk.

I've never had to deal with such a useless company. We all know there are a lot of bad ones out there, but TalkTalk really take the biscuit.

When your already poorer than poor internet connection goes wrong, they do everything in their power to not help.

One of their 'customer service representatives' was so rude to me I had to hang up.

We've since moved over to BT and I am so glad we did. They are more than helpful in comparison and our connection has somewhat improved.

So? If you're in two minds whether to join TalkTalk, I urge you to reconsider for a simpler life! They left us without a connection for 3+ weeks with no apology or help - consdering the fault was down to them.

Talk talk is the worst broadband you will ever buy.I live close to London in a suburban area and I got 5 mb download speeds compared to my 39mb with BT . their customer service is terrible . my dad tried to cancel our contract with them but it took him an hour because the people started begging him not to leave and them started throwing rubbish offers at us . we had finished out 12 month contract but we were fined £200 as a cancellation charge

Been with talk talk some years now, decided to switch to fibre with some trepidation.Could not find a good review for fibre broadband, but decided to go ahead and order. Was informed of my switch over date. The new router arrived before the switch over date.I installed the router and waited for the switch over date, this happened and now i am enjoying good speeds of 38mpbs against the original speed of 1.9mpbs.Not as fast as virgin but well impressed. Only gripe was they charged me £6 something to deliver the modem.up to press no problems with the reliability

I have been with Talk Talk for about 7 months and in a 18 month contract which leaves with 11 months to go. Unfortunately I have to move house because of personal stuff when I called Talk Talk they said they would be happy to move me but as soon as i do move they will restart my contract and I will have to stay with the a further 7 months. If I want to cancel I would have to pay £80. I only ever use the internet for work use but it is still extremely slow. The person on the phone was constantly repeating himself saying that he was doing me a favour and a great deal, I don’t think he understood that all I wanted was him to move the line. NOT TO EXTEND IT or fine me £80 for something that is out of my control

Isn't it possible to put no stars at all?
    How do I start?
I moved to Talk Talk about a year ago and it has been the worse thing I could do:
A month after I moved in, I started e experiencing issues with my speed and I was getting disconnected from internet. They insisted me in upgrading to fibre. The minimum contract is for 3 years!!!! Issue got solved when technician finally came. Great job and I feel lucky I was not fool enough to upgrade.
I then thought in contracting a service to make calls abroad. Two months later I reported a problem with noises in the lines and getting disconnected. I called customer services to report it and they told me to check my phone. I insisted that my phone was fine because I could speak with the agent. She then asked me if I could try more international numbers and I told her that I had already did that. She asked me to try some more. I was not going to try with all the phone numbers from every country, right? They finally admitted the fault go be in their end. The result was one month without a service. Well done
Last but not least, happened yesterday when I realised that they had cancelled my account. I called on Monday and I insisted that I wanted broadband till beginning of April. They told me that it would not be a problem. I told them I was moving abroad and did not need internet on April but I wanted to be a customer the whole month of march! Yesterday I realised that I was no longer a customer and my phone was disabled. I told them what could I do. They offered me to have my line activated and the broadband for 3 months (the minimum period). Why should I be if I am moving back to Barcelona? So, i believe that the month I need most internet and I do not have it! Is this a way to get money from customers that have quite or about to leave? You're doing an excellent business! I am glad for you!!!!!
Now I know who should I NOT trust and who will not be my provider

We have now been without our telephone and broadband service for over 3 weeks and Talk Talk have done nothing about it. All they keep telling us is that it is Open Reach's responsibility to fix the problem and that we need to be patient. Well I'm sorry, I am a customer of Talk Talk, not Open Reach, and I expect the company to whom I pay my bills to do a bit more on my behalf than just tell me to be patient. I have been a Talk Talk customer for many years, but believe me this relationship will not continue.

Just stay away!!! Cant stretch that enough. God show mercy on you if you need to call them which is very likely.

Their call centre is an agony , the costumer service is borderline rude every single time with no fail. If they are having a bad day they ll mock you for it and just hung up on you to get a cup of tea. Not its not your fault , they have issues not you! The only thing that can earn them 5stars is how quick you ll pay for all your sins and bad karma but there is not rating for that now.

If you want value for money, better landlines and broadband there are other companies that do a much better job. just research a little.
