Ok so in general I would probably recommend, I’ve got Fibre up to 35mbps and although it is fast the only problem is it’s not very reliable if you demand a lot from your broadband. I will average speeds of about 26mbps but it can regularly drop to about 19mbps but often as low as 9mbps; this would be fine if I didn’t require decent speeds all the time but a lot of reboots are needed to keep speeds up. All in all if you only use your broadband casually to watch Netflix etc I’d say it’s great but if you need it for more demanding things I’d probably steer clear.

Been with them since November constant bad connection they said it was fine on their reports sent an engineer who advised receiver was faulty had to constantly chase them had a new receiver that wasn't working phoned and they advised fault outside property been without broadband for 2 weeks offered 20 goodwill but that's an insult as had a faulty receiver no aftersales care restrict your service if a week late paying my lateness was due to the crap broadband connection and paying more to connect TV through phones don't touch this company with a bargepole very very bad they ignore emails etc now referring them to the ombudsman or offcom now they should stick to the energy providing not broadband.

Broadband is quick, but they seem to charge you for everything that is free with other providers. IE CALLER DISPLAY £2.36 PER MONTH, 1571 £1.06 PER MONTH.PLUS OTHER THINGS, So really their FREE BROADBAND IS NOT FREE, BECAUSE THEY GET IT OFF YOU IN OTHER WAYS (ROBBIN HOOD COMES TO MIND)

Switch went smoothly, speeds much the same as my previous 2 suppliers (TalkTalk and BT), so far impressive results at half the price. Supplied modem was pretty bad - especially wifi. Switched to my own Negear D6400 VDSL2 Modem Router with big improvements in line speed and WiFi performance.

A bit nervous about taking up the offer from SSE for Broadband and phone with weekend calls as was with BT and everything had always worked.
Transfer of phone went ahead smoothly and on time, Broadband delayed about a week - SSE said it was because of demand for their product which I can believe.
Since Broadband has transferred I am receiving exactly the same speed as I was getting with BT. The line is stable and I haven't noticed any scaling back of speed at busy times. We watch Netflix alot and the picture quality has been the same and there are no buffering issues.
Now really pleased that I transferred and am saving lots of money compared to BT, also used Quidco and am hopefully getting £50 cashback. Bargain.
Go for it.

Couldn’t ask for better customer service. There were problems, which were down to the wholesalers, Daisy, and I had to wait 2 weeks past my connection date, but this would have happened with whoever I went with. The difference was whenever I called SSE they were lovely. They gave me £5 off the first month for the inconvenience and I didn’t pay a penny till it was sorted. The connection is great, once the 2 week testing period was over and although I chose the standard broadband, not fibre, it has been perfect, even when watching YouTube and BBC iPlayer in a town house, the coverage is brilliant. I highly recommend them.

Absolutely terrible… started with the broadband a month ago and still no connection. Terrible customer service, they tell you they will get back to you and they never do. Sent me two routers that do not work. Do not waste your time or money on this incompetent company.

Customer service only scored 3 stars as they omitted to tell me the date they were taking over my service, send me a modem and that they had arranged an engineer to call. I only found out by accident when my service stopped. That said they sorted it all out in 24 hours with telephone calls to keep me updated. They also sorted out the issue when OpenReach equipment failed at the exchange within the above 24 hours. I always judge a company on how they respond when something goes wrong - to date have not been disappointed and its great to speak to a UK support centre

FANTASTIC! - I now have SSE super fast broadband running a week after they installed a new phone line. They did all the work switching me from old provider, Two engineer visits ALL FREE - two years broadband ALL FREE - UK support line that is great, well maybe hanging on for a while listening to a robot, but they do answer and are very very helpful.
I recommend SEE BROADBAND to anyone - and I am usually a complainer about poor service.

It's the same old con. Advertising super fast broadband and giving 3.75-Mb/s instead of 45-Mb/s. If you go to money saving expert they have a free complaint tool called "How to complain about your broadband provider" and they will take your case to the ombudsman for you if it's not rectified by SSE as they are accountable for false advertising. God bless and don't give up.

What more could you ask for?

They were good in the beginning some years ago and so we renewed a contract with SSE in May 2022 at good fixed rates and secured some fixed client discounts which were part of the full contract term. Since August they are collecting £10 more and when I called Customer Service they acknowledged the error and breach of contract and said it would be fixed in the next bill. Many bills later, long fruitless calls with customer services, messages through Whatsapp - all no effect. I cancelled my DD 2 months ago. The bills still come by email saying I should call to re-setup a DD. No I won't do that.

I signed up with SSE 5 months ago in a new area. The first 3 months were great - good speeds, no issues. Then in August my broadband went down for 2 weeks. It took 3 calls, waiting for about an hour each time, before the fault was resolved. Now this month it has gone down again for almost 2 weeks so far, still not resolved and no 'updates' they promise you when you call. I'm just totally fed up. It's so stressful and time consuming dealing with this...

I have swapped from my BT infinity service. Have been with SSE for 2 months now. The switch went on smoothly. My download speed is the same more or less as SSE is using the same line as BT. Have not contacted Customer Service yet as there has not been any need. Great Value for next 18 months.

When I moved house I gave them plenty of notice on moving in day they had no knowledge and had to wait 3 weeks for open reach to connect the line.
I work from home with no apology or any contact.
I check speeds often and never as promised in the contract.
And just to add insult realised they put the price up with no contact would definatly avoid.

I was a bit worried when I signed up for ssc broadband, as Iv read some of the reviews.
But I'm pleased I ignored the bad reviews and carried on with my contract, the service I received was excellent and the broadband was spot on, it came live early morning as I was expecting it to be late evening.
Happy customer

I joined Sse as I was unhappy with the poor Internet connection I was getting whilst with my previous supplier BT. I couldn't get BT to solve my connection even though they took £129 off me for a call out. SSE were totally different - from the point I wrote them an email on their complaints forms I was assigned a dedicated sse complaints operative, who responded promptly to me with constructive steps to take to solve my connection. Within 3 weeks an Openreach engineer was outside our house fixing our line, which we didn't pay any money for this time. We've now got a reliable line at the correct speed. Can only say good things about Sse broadband (and nothing good to say about BT).

Our fibre broadband stopped working, so once I got through to an operator (20 minutes wait at peak time) she was very helpful, patient and being an English call centre, there was no issue with understanding each other. She talked me through making several address changes in my routers settings which took a while, but she waited until I had tested the fix and all is well again.
I've had 3 occasions now to contact sse broadband with issues over 3 years, and all 3 times their level of service is excellent. I left BT because I found their customer service non exsistant and they caused me a lot of stress, sse customer service is a credit to them and is why I'm writing this review.

At first the service was excellent. At the end of the contract I was robbed. Asked for a new contract. I now find that in the evenings it is so slow I cannot get e-mail. I am supposed to be on a 35Mb/s fibre service. They recently fired a lot of staff, hence the poor service. I have allready switched energy companies. I will switch phone and internet companies as soon as possible. I suspect they have a new boss who is killing the company.

I moved from sky broadband and phone to sse. The broadband was connected on the start date yet the phone line was dead. I rang sse and spoke to a very helpful lady who got an engineer round the next day. They told me my line had been wrongly connected at the exchange and they sorted it just over an hour. This was not the fault of sse as all providers
of phone lines and broadband go through outreach so I can say I got 100% service from sse themself.

Very happy with SSE broadband, pay for the highest rate broadband, always have a connection, no nasty surprises on bill, and a lot cheaper than our previous supplier BT who price hiked mid contract. Very straight forward and they don't ever phone trying to up sell like talktalk used to.

I live in a rural are with slow braodband speeds. Having called Customer Service to report ridiculously slow broadband speeds of less than 0.25M I was asked to take 6 further readings at various times using an ethernet cable. I have no ethernet port on my laptop and for some reason SSE not happy with wireless speed testing. I can get wireless speeds eventually but I'd hate to think how my granny would. In the old days my previous supplier would contact Openreach who would fix the problem. Clearly SSE not happy with this additional cost to them, and will make it extremely difficult for their customers to get the service they will eventually (I hope) try to provide. I'd say if you live in a rural area, do not use SSE.

Truly awful. We have been with SSE for years with electric and gas and have never had an issue. Three months ago I asked SSE to supply our broadband. All online stuff was completed and they sent an email asking me to complete my registration.
Now, every week they sand me the same email saying I have not completed my registration and I need to, then they say I am registered and they do not have my full address so I need to reply to the email with my full details. Which I do. This triggers an email that says this email address is not monitored.
A few days later I receive another email reminding me to register for my broadband package.
Three months now without broadband or phone line and if I call them there is a hold message saying it will be over an hour to talk to anyone or I can request a call back. I have requested 4 calls back now and received none.
Truly the worst customer service I have ever seen anywhere. Ever.

I am still waiting to get a broadband service set up after 3 weeks and have just been told that it will be another week before the account come online. I have been passed through 5 separate "advisors". However I was not told of the time scale involved at any point - I have had the router for four days now and cannot use it for another week - appalling amounts of red tape and no consistency between call handlers. Not worth the hassle.

Absolutely conned by this company. Their broadband was probably the best I have ever had, but towards the end of my 12 month contract I got a letter to say that my contract would auto renew to the most expensive of 3 package options unless I phoned and asked for a different package. I phoned up with the intention of asking for the cheapest package (I don't use the internet a huge deal) but the number quoted multiple times was an invalid number. I made a complaint on their website and about a week later some fly by night bloke phoned me to apologise and chuckled to himself about how rubbish his own marketing team is. He said "I think based on your usage you should be on the cheapest package" and I agreed. I thought the problem was sorted, but a month or so later I looked at my bank statement and had been charged for the most expensive package they do, he hadn't changed a thing. I raised a complaint 2 weeks ago about this. Not heard anything. Considering whether I can recoup the money via the small claims court or some such avenue.

Awful customer service. Spent a year of service being completely ignored. The website features don't work and then you can't get in touch with them to follow up on the broken things. Came to renewal and their renewal service and phone service didn't work. So they lost my business. Still waiting on overdue bills from them and for my money back. I really wanted to like SSE but was majorly disappointed.

Absolutely appaling SSE! Keeps dropping off although I am in area of at least 12Mbps. The connection to internet with them is like a yo-yo. On-Off permanently. Imagine doing on-line banking using these useless people !
My advice to everyone. Discard this company. They don't know what are they doing.

Same as other complaints - I used to get 10mb with my other supplier now at peak times lucky to get 1mb and often down to 0.5 with constant drop outs - if you want easy cheap broadband on a budget then great if you need any sort of speed or reliability look elsewhere.

After waiting over 6 weeks for the Fibre broadband transfer from EE to be connected, i told them i would be on holiday on the 21st of July they said no problem your connection will still go live as i told them that i had fibre connected before with EE. when i got back i had an answerphone message from a BT engineer saying that we weren't in. Regardless to that i plugged everything in to find fibre speeds of 34mb. Happy customer to that point then on Wednesday the 5th of August i lose my DSL light, ring them the next day to find out that i didn't have a BT engineer call and they automatically disconnected me. Asking for a manager I got a guy called Gary, who promised me that they could fast track it and get it reconnected the following week. I rang Friday to find out that this would then take two weeks, ok i said i need some kind of internet they promised me a dongle to be sent down by Tuesday. Tuesday came and no dongle arrived. Waited another 20 mins on hold for a different manager to promise it me the next day. the day before the connection i rang to make sure if somebody needed to be in the house for the BT engineer, i got told no its fine as its been working before. connection day happens and now i am connected by i am told that BT have to sign it off within 10 days otherwise i will be disconnected again! Ring Gary up again saying that i will cancel, get a promise that it will be sorted with there provider, I asked if this was BT and i got told no they use another provider? So they are piggy backing on another providers internet servers and then they have got to sort out internet. The place is a shambles nobody talks to you if you want to find something out you have to wait for 20 minutes and then get promised things that doesn't happen! I have never needed a BT engineer to plug in Fibre before and when i have had problems in the past other companies have sorted this directly with BT. It's a funny story as i have been connected twice and it working just in 10 days i know i am going to lose it for 10 days.

Worst company ever, do not go with them, wanted to cancel as I moved out of the property I was living at in September, I work 12 hour shifts with short breaks, so due to waiting times couldn’t get through to them then on my days off I would call them be on hold for about 1-2 hours, I would then get through to someone who would transfer me and the call would go on for another hour or so before I’d hang up as some people do not have all day to wait for someone to pick up? Or I would call and be waiting for again 1-2 hours and the call would just drop. So I tried emailing them, got no reply, so then I messaged on WhatsApp at the beginning of last month, and only now getting a reply, so I have payed 2 lots of £26 when I am not even using the Wi-Fi, which could have been avoided if they had better customer service skills, and now I have been messaged saying as it has only now been cancelled it can take up to 28 days for it to go through, so another payment of £26 will be taken out also they told me I will be billed a cancellation fee, avoid this company, I’ve had nothing but problems with them since I started with them and that goes for electricity with them too.

Speed and reliability is SHOCKING - switched from sky which worked fine by the temptation of a cheaper service - yes it is cheap but if it doesn't work what's the point. Speed down to less than half meg on busy periods on a line that's capable of 15mB plus and has been tested to do so by Openreach. When I quizzed the openreach engineer when he came to test he just laughed when I said SSE where providing the service - saying don't expect to use at periods then was his comment. On top of that the router is of such poor quality it's pathetic - when I complained SSE told me to get a booster - but again what's the pint when it keeps loosing it's outside line. If you want a cheap service go for it but if you need to use the internet look elsewhere.
