The only time sky want to talk to you is when they are trying to sell something to add on to your package. As soon as you say your uninterested they just hang up and aren’t bothered about anything else you want to say.

When I signed up to Sky I was promised download speeds of between 2.9 and 4.9 Mbts. I asked them if they were certain, as these speeds have not been my experience in the past but they assured me that the predicted speeds were correct. After installation and 10 days of bedding the broadband in, my speed was and still is between 0.5 and 0.7Mbts. After complaining about this they eventually sent out an engineer who tested everything and told me my installation and equiptment was set up and working ok and the speeds I was experiencing were the only speeds I was likely to get. There is fibre running past my doorstep and has been for over a year but Sky say they cannot give me it yet.

The service is OKish - sometimes really slow and can even hang-up. SKY usually have deals but DONT inform you when it ends, thereby forcing you to pay a much higher price - Loyalty is NOT rewarded.

Got home after a weeks break and no internet or landline phone , assumed it was a temporary fault switched the box , router etc off and on again , still no joy.
Left it overnight still not working spent god knows how much calling sky on mobile got the bog standard its the micro filters response.
They posted new filters as expected did no good i had already established myself it was the phone line by simply plugging the phone direct into the socket and bypassing all the sky gubbins altogether.

Called sky back after 10 minutes of being told it was my fault and my equipment they eventually made an appointment for openreach to attend which they did this morning 11 days after the fault was reported .

Engineer checked line said in seconds the line is faulty , checked the socket the line outside and the box in the street it turns out another openreach engineer had needed to disconnect our line at the exchange to repair another line but had forgot to re connect our line.

took an hour no apology but at least its working.
    Sky service is terrible..

Wi-fi cuts our when I use the phone line. The phone line has a background crackle on it. Sky did not tell BT that I had switched and I was charged by both companies for a couple of months. Sky then told me that I should have informed BT, which I had - I told them I was leaving them for Sky and BT told me that I was allowed to inform them Sky needed too!! All in all when my contract is up I will look to move again. I used a switching company in the hope that it would make my life easier and they would get me the best deal. It did not and they gave me the deal and booked it as a new deal which made them the most commission rather than a switch.

I've recently moved house (2 miles apart). First OpenReach connected me to someone else's line! Previously I was getting around 16Mbps download which was quite good. Tests with assorted speed testers show below 3 Mbps and as low as 0.6 now. I've just downloaded a 12.5 MB file which previously would have taken about 20 secs but took nearly 6 minutes! If the broadband was as good as their customer service it'd be okay. How I miss Virgin!

Sky Broadband is the worst service.
We joined Sky and cancelled their broadband package 6 weeks later as we had 0.5Mbs. We joined O2 and went to 5+Mbs instantly.
Unfortunately O2 sold their broadband to Sky and we are (bizarrely/strangely back to 0.5Mbs). So we have cancelled Sky broadband again and are nowing joining BT.

We switched to Sky and we were informed we could claim back out fees from previous provider if we switch. Despite 28 emails, using Sky’s complaints procedure and speaking with an advice, we have not received it. We only receive an irritating generic email. They also took money from our account without permission but later re-credited this. Once our contract is up, we’re leaving. It is impossible to get through to anyone to resolve issues.

When it works it's not bad. With mine, if I'm working on the computer and another member of the house hold use the broadband, the timelag for my computer is huge. The broadband also goes off/on daily for an average of a hour, especially during a working week, so while I work from home it gets quite annoying.

Constantly cutting out, randomly and unexpectedly. Comes back to strength, then normally will cut out again. This usually happens late afternoon/ evening/ night, however I wouldn’t know how it worked during the day as I’m not home. The wifi worked perfectly; I would say amazingly when first installed, but has gone downhill recently, and only joined sky this year! Very unsatisfactory.

awful wifi, we have the best plan available for it yet it is incredibly unreliable, constantly dropping and having high ping spikes all the time, along with it not being fast in the first place with a download of around 29 mbps its completely not worth it.

If you like having distinctively average broadband that will cut out and then come back on again randomly this is the company for. If you want poor customer service when trying to fix the issue, again the company for you.

Speed depends on the package you take but customer service and incompetence of the team from Sky and Open reach to get things right the first time around is shocking. Lots of training needed there, poor Management overall it seems.

I have been with sky for a number of years now, I used to praise them but recently my views have changed. My upload speed is crap, my download speed is poor, and everything is crap about them. The customer service is top notch, very friendly staff and seem to know what they`re doing.

The hardware on the other hand, router, micro filter, etc. VERY POOR, Heres an example, within the hours of 21:00 and 00:00 ( I should be in bed but I have insomnia) I have disconnected 8 times, I have even written the times down im that sad, but in all fairness, if your paying out of your butt for internet, you should get a better service.

I suggest everyone avoid sky, they were once the best, n now the worst. I am considering changing very soon. So good luck to anyone who considers them!

Best post this before my connection goes again..

Oh dear. 22 years with Sky. Diamond VIP: none of it means a thing. I have wasted over 3 hours on the phone trying to resolve an issue started with one of their advisors putting me into an unsuitable contract. I’m afraid our relationship is over and I am now referring the matter to small claims court. I am not sure why they now have such an unreliable customer service team. The representatives all appear very helpful but promises of return calls fail to materialise and undertakings to offer a resolution are not honoured. I would urge anyone with similar issues to take legal action to at least air the matter.

I have been with Sky for 7 years for Broadband and phone only so I pay a little extra for not having Sky TV. Initially speed was good at around 14 Mbps after it had settled which is better than what BT said I could get at the time. As time has gone on speed has dropped, normally these days if I check I get around 11.35 Mbps but today it is showing at 7.35 Mbps, this sort of drop would suggest this is temporary due to maintenance. Over the 7 years I've been with Sky the cost has slowly gone up, initially I was paying £22.00 per month it is now around £40.00. Up time is typically good and maintenance is typically done around midnight if it means a loss of service which minimises inconvenience. I can not really rate customer service accurately as I have never needed to phone them so please ignore my rating for customer service. I am looking to change to Optic Fibre but I will not stay with Sky because of their cost as much as anything but who to go with is the question, all providers seem to get their fair share of bad reviews.

My fibre BB is really not too bad for a basic service.
However, the price was high to start with and then got increased. I'm now paying 50% more than new customers are paying.
When I called they offered me £1 off!
In my view , Sky now see their customers as 'cash cows'.

I've been with Sky for 17 years (for TV) and they really don't respect that.

I'm leaving to get a sensible price for my BB and TV.

The worst customer service. So bad it has to be deliberate. When you do finally get problem sorted according to agent it turns out to be a lie. Now left and that in itself been a nightmare. Overcharge. Money taken without authority. Equipment returned but they say not and now want to charge. Each dept does not have a clue what other is doing and don't even try to get hold of a human being. Avoid at all costs. Not worth the grief

We have been a sky customer for over 27yrs. I phoned those 2weeks ago to see if they could help me about a tree that got so bushy it was stopping my signal. The man on the phone said to me it is best moving over to having fit sky Q. The Engineer was book for the day I was of work and time. I sat in all day to have a phone call saying, sorry can’t get to you today as over worked. I was thinking he make it the next day or so but no was told the earliest it be will be the week after as he got so much on putting new customer on sky. They could not have been more unhelpful. I had to pay the £149 for this to be fitted to. When I phone up to asked as why this could not have been done sooner i was told i could cancel which i did, but my payment will be sent back to me in 3 to 4 days which after a week got an e-mail saying it be paid in 3 to4 days’ time again but they take next month’s payment out as well. I have now cancelled the phone broadband and sky altogether now, as the customer service is that bad and I was not getting a full service any way now. I definitely would not recommend sky to anyone. Totally useless, unhelpful and ungrateful towards loyal customers.

Having been a sky tv customer for 2 years now we decided to change our broadband to the same package. The internet provided however was hopelessly slow, compared to virgin which we used before. The customer service team were extremely rude when phoning up to try & cancel my contract and I was basically bullied into not being able to cancel. I then requested they do anything they can to speed up my internet which is too slow to even load netflix at the moment. No speed up has happened what so ever and i'm at a bit of a loss what to do till i can get this awful company straight out of my home.

Fast when it works, annoying when it doesn't. Customer service is an utter joke - one that isn't funny. Long waits, horrible distorted music that hurts your ears, useless service when you finally do get through.
It's pointless sharing your info with them - they'll ask you the same questions over and over anyway. If you have more than one brain cell and know what the problem with your connection is anyway you're better off committing suicide rather than watch these inept morons visit you three times and ignore what you're telling them.
1.3 billion pounds profit a year, and they can't get the simplest things right. Avoid like the plague, no matter how cheap you think they are.

Speed varies by the hour, the basic broadband package is rubbish , so you have to get a more expensive package to supply multiple devices. But even that isn't stable. Trying to talk to a remote call centre is totally frustrating. They make Virgin look good!

I made the big mistake of switching from hyperoptic to Sky for my broadband. I've had nothing but troubles since. Constant outages and unreliable internet. When asking for an engineer to take a look, the wait time was more than one week i.e. I had no/poor internet for a week while working from home. Would not recommend Sky at all.

Not too bad until you come to leave. Their current sales tactic is to offer discounts for 9 months then hike the price. Their system won't let you downgrade and give notice to cancel at the same time, so you can do one or the other. Either keep the service at an inflated price and give notice, or downgrade and wait to cancel, resulting in another month of revenue for them. I should mention that you need to give 31 days notice, even though you sign a 12 month contract. It seems like a very underhand tactic.

I am on Sky Broadband Connect, Paying £17.00 pcm for abysmal speeds, and regular disconections, loss of server you name a broadband problem I get it. They advertise upto 8Mb (i think on this package) but because it's an old BT package and it's so over subscribed the sheer ammount of people trying to use the internet at popular times it becomes pointless sometimes even trying to open a basic webpage, let alone try to upload pics/movies etc to things like FB or photobucket. For example i did a speedtest recently and the average i was getting was 0.08Mb DL / 0.07Mb UL. the only time i got a decent speed ie: 6Mb was about 3am and tbh i am usually in bed by then.

I switched from BT some time ago. It was an improvement but broadband speed is still poor. I find on the internet that the cabinet to which my phone line is connected is FTTC. Is there a reason why this should not enable a better service to be provided? If so how can I go about it?

We have reported a fuzzy phone line for some time now - Sky can't help. Our line went down altogether last week - Sky can't help. This means we have been without land line and broadband, which is extremely inconvenient to say the least. I guess Sky are OK (at best) if things work but in my experience they are useless should any fault or problem occur. There must be nicer companies to give your money to!
