Since moving to SKY from BT we receive on average a download speed of 500kbps and upload of 300kbps. This is slower than BT which was able to deliver between 6MB - 8.2MB. Sky state that the ADSL extension cable we use is not supported and will not deal with it until it's removed. Once removed there has been no improvement on speed with regular daily speed tests. Who knows what will occur now. Tech support are patronising and unhelpful.....also not very technical. I believe the modems provided are sub-standard and poorly configured. The modem stats report speeds of 7MB on average and this is so far from the truth. I WISH WISH WISH for Tele2 or a decent fibreoptic connection. I have no confidence that SKY will resolve this. They have escalated it to BT. IfI left BT why would BT like to improve Sky's service. Something dodgey is afoot with these LLU connections.

Could not imagine a poorer broadband service. At best I see 4 mbps download..usually closer to 2. Speed is irrelevant however as the connection is not usually on long enough to get a measurement. Customer service is lovely and friendly, they just don't fix anything. Leaving for Virgin. Avoid Sky at all cost or do without.

Whoever may be reading this review to decipher whether or not they would like to have Sky Broadband installed, do not. Not only have I been over-paying Sky for the terrible internet that I have, it just does not live up to any standard that Sky supposedly gives you. I cannot express how disappointed I am with this provider. My household uses little internet between them, smart phones, TV,YouTube, and with just this little use of the internet, I cannot load videos, play any sort of online games or communicate via social media. I am incredibly unhappy, Sky.

Former O2 customer sold out to Sky. Connection speed dropped and with the "punishment payment" Sky levied on me the price went up 50%. Absolute filth of a company with a substandard service.

Where do I begin with the problems I have had with Sky's Broadband.
Firstly, I'll mention that my house has a direct line of site (150 yards away) to one of sky's hubs (I believe this is what it is I'm not a network expert) but this info was given to me by one of Sky's Engineers. So I find it hard to believe that despite the fact that we pay so much for 72 mb/s DL I struggle to reach 1.5 mb/s. This is completely unacceptable. This is not an irregular occurrence. For the entirety of today I have been running SpeedTests Using speedtest.net on my laptop and have gotten a Download speed above 1 mb/s 1 time out of well over a hundred tests. I did not try to ring the customer service because, in the past when I have, I have been told they will only speak to the account holder. Which happens to be my mother, someone who knows next to nothing above technology and when ever she has tried to talk with the support, they have confused her with technical jargon she simply does not understand.
In Summary, I could not be more disappointed and appalled with Sky's broadband and the way they treat customers who have been with them for years.

I am told that the cabinet nearest to me (about 100m away) is FTTC enabled and yet the maximum speed I can get is 1.3Mbs. Why is this?

The line speed is very poor in spite of there being continuous habitation between my location and the local BT exchange. How such a poor service to so many customers can be justified defies logic and BT say there is no intention to do anything about it in the near future. There is a FTTC within 100m of my house but how to access this is not known and connection to this would improve speeds greatly. In this day and age it is difficult to justify such poor service to so many households on any grounds whatsoever.

Your website tells me that I can get on Phoneline BB up to 17Mb and on the Standard Plan 7.5Mb. The best I have this am is 1.3Mb and it is frequently worse than this and occasionally nothing. I am about 3 miles from the telephone exchange and there are houses all the way along the main road and nearer the town the housing is much more dense. There is a BT cabinet within 100m of my house and one company has got a cable into this but BT/Sky have no plans for FTTC in the near (or distant?) future. I expect the new arrangements with Open Reach will make no difference at all to the situation and the only solution to make them move would be to allow them to charge the stated BB fee for the maximum speed quoted and those in the same fee bracket pay according to the speed they actually receive.

After an awful experience with Virgin in which I paid a lot of money for a truly poor service I moved to Sky, they had it in within a week, and Netflix doesn't buffer anymore, the signal doesn't drop, I have not had to reboot the box once. The only time we lost internet was once during a storm so file that under **** happens. The service is way better than Virgins and only a third of the price.

Best download speed over our copper wires this week: 4.79 mbps - at 06:30hrs with just my laptop online.
Switch on a mobile and the TV and things go tragic. No information from Sky available on when we can migrate to superfast BBand which apparently is available in our area. Sky aren't interested in us having it.
Takes 80 mins to download a 9 mins programme in SD and for this we pay Sky a premium. It's insulting.

I have had 4 Engineers come to my property to install the router, first Engineer indicated that the cable is damaged underground and another Engineer would come to fix it, 2nd, 3rd, 4th Engineer came and told me exactly what the 1st Engineer told me and that i should expect 2 more Engineers to come before my issue is resolved. Broadband was supposed to be installed by the 8th of December and today is the 16th of December and likely to wait another week before issue is fixed???? What on earth is going on at Sky? Really frustrated!

I am currently looking for a cheaper deal with broadband.
I cant however fault SKY, never any issues with my fibre broadband, I get 38Mb when hardwired to the router, something I think other users ( who complain ) don't actually do. they probably base their experience on doing a speed test via Wifi, not a good test. SKY are also open to negotiation when it comes to them possibly loosing your business.

Tried to set up an account with Sky as we have just moved into a new flat. We can’t set up an account as the previous tenants already have a sky account connected to the property which wasn’t cancelled. These tenants haven’t been in the flat for months following renovations to the property. We can’t contact sky about it either as our mobile can’t be linked to an account because we can’t create one in the first place. So there is zero way to contact sky to get this sorted. And the landlords can’t enforce a prior tenant to cancel their broadband account. Seems ridiculous that this issue is even possible. Cheers

When moving house they have failed to move the broadband, we're still waiting after 5 weeks with no broadband for all this time. Now they are making cancellations and switching to other providers near impossible. You can never talk to a person on the phone, the robot either doesn't understand what you are saying or just passes you onto the facebook messenger service, before hanging up on you. There is no contact email. The facebook messenger service take ages to reply and always seem to be passing you over to other people so that your query and problems never get solved. So all in all lousy customer support, the phone number they provide as cost me £82 so far!

NO STARS - DON'T DESERVE ANY WILL NOT AND WOULD NOT RECCOMEND TO ANYONE

left Virgin for Internet been off more then its on n still charging full price.

Went online ordered new installation of broadband, phone n tv with sky around 16th May paid an upfront fee n was meant to be installed 9th and 10th June 2020. On the 9th openreach didn't show up. 2 weeks of ringing asking why and got given a new date 24th. 24th came n went another no show from openreach. Rang to complain heard excuse after excuse was lied too told 18th someone would come out had had enough wanted to cancel as no apology no compensation offered nothing. I told them im not waiting till 18th when already missed 2 appointments. They managed to move our appointment forward to 2nd (today). Sky rang yesterday saying sorry but it won't be done till 20th now. Said I needed a few days to think about what I want to do. Was scheduled to call me back on Monday but woke up this morning with no Internet at all even virgin had cut it off. So been left with serve them taking too long nearly losing me my sentimental telephone landlines number I have cancelled and lodged a formal complaint with them. But they am full of **** and empty promises that they cant stixk to came even keep to call backs as planned.

I'm a keyworker suffering from anxiety and for the past 4 weeks I ain't been able to enjoy my day off because I've had to make phone call after phone call to be distressed to the point of anxiety attacks n tears.

Disgusting, unreasonable, unreliable ******** strive. Some Colleen said they have never seen an account like this or a new installation to take this long. They told me I have been messed and lied too. Joke..

Useless. We have had sky for 2 years now and for 2 years we have had to reset the box and mess with the filter etc nearly every other day. Complained and all you get is it’s prob the box or your phone line, I know it’s not the line as we have had the same prob in our last house and I’m pretty sure we are on our 2nd box. As for the speed, we are lucky if 2 people can browse at the same time without slowing it down.

Absolute garbage please avoid. Wished I had stayed with BT no problem whatsoever quality. Moved to Sky because of a TV deal and all I have had are problems. Apparently there is no problem with speeds to my router, I have too many devices attached. Yeah right that's why I must be getting only 1mbps on average on fibre, why was there no problem with BT then. Rob-dogs

Very bad broadcast. With my husband, we can not use 2 devices in the same time. We called SKY customer support, it was very long and they hang over 3 times! What is more, the SKY help support was enable to help us and instead of trying to find a solution, they told us that it is a problem of our devices...
We lost one afternoon and no results.
We have lots of regrets choosing this SKY company. It is a shame.

I had earlier used Sky from September 2012 to August 2015 and had zero issues. I switched to TalkTalk in August 2015 and it was the worst decision I'd ever made. I'm seeing a lot of reviews on this site quoting that Sky are bad, and for what it's worth, my review is only anecdotal after all, but I must say that moving back to Sky from TalkTalk this month feels like the best decision I've ever made. I think, like other reviewers have pointed out, Sky's ratings are a bit on the low side because a lot of people bother to leave a review only when they've had a bad experience (though this should be the same bias for all ISPs!). Anyway, I'll leave that determination to better statisticians than myself! I've found that Sky's customer service and billing practices and contract renewal/cancellation practices are lightyears ahead of TalkTalk and I'm happy that I'm back with Sky now. What with hacks of my personal information at TalkTalk (my entire household began receiving threatening scam calls after the infamous TalkTalk hack) to TalkTalk forcing me to enter into a new, higher priced contract with them for 18 months when I moved house, to failing to activate my broadband at the new house and blaming OpenReach despite 3 engineers all unanimously declaring that TalkTalk had not switched on the line at the exchange, to attempting to bill me in advance for 2 months of broadband when I had not had a single byte of data at my new address thanks to TalkTalk not switching on the line at the exchange, it has been an absolute nightmare dealing with them. I'm super glad to be back with Sky, they had the service up and running as soon as I switched to them and have had zero issues with my connection both in the past and ever since I switched this month!

Terrible. I have been without any broadband for a month now. Sky sold me a G Fast upgrade but it never worked. In fact I was told by an Openreach engineer we were too far away and it sht never have been installed. We lost our original super fast connection and have been waiting four weeks now for it to be resolved. No urgency shown in resolving the issue. I don't think I ever received a proper apology either.

It's been the first time my partner and I decided to order a TV and broadband as we were moving to our new flat. We have booked the installation 2 weeks before we actually move in so everything's set up before our arrival. The engineer came only with the sky box and said that the broadband with router will follow. Obviously to book another day off work my other half called them to confirm the next day he should be expecting the engineer. To our surprise our order didn't include the broadband at all even though it has been confirmed a week before the installation was to take place. I've spent hours on the phone talking to them about sorting this out. The consultant was rude enough to even laugh in my face saying that I've obviously known that broadband hasn't been ordered. After cancellation and filing a complaint I was promised to be given a refund for the installation. It has been 2 weeks since then money still isn't on my account and I ended up being given misleading information from both sky customer service and the av uk engineers. Absolutely poorly customer service, total chaos and miscommunication in the company, not worth the time or money. Avoid at all costs!

Internet speed is 1/5 than committed.

Changed to sky fibre from unlimited broadband was the worst experience I had. Fibre constantly kept losing connection. Contacted sky 5 times sent open reach engineer round to check line each time. Line both external and internal OK. Sky sent me another router still the same no change. Sky suggested to change the channel when I did could not get back on the internet at all and neither could my daughter. Had to use the old router to get back on the internet. Has sky change me back to my original broadband. All sky said was it was my system but my daughter had the same experience with her new windows 10 laptop. Definitely would not recommenced sky broadband of any kind to anyone.

    Broadband is ABSOLUTELY SHOCKING!
Every day without fail the broadband drops out and even when it does occasionally work getting anywhere between 0.14 (yes 0.14) and 3mb download. When you call they don't want to speak to you and a robot tells you all about how you can solve all your problems by going on their website ...... I would love too but either my internet is not working or my measily 0.14 mbs doesn't even allow me to open your website!
When you do speak to someone they offer to send a specialist Sky technician but if you want him on a Saturday you have to pay for him. When he arrives he is definitely "special" and after changing the router (which I could have done) admits defeat and books a BT Openreach engineer.
BT attend and when he leaves all is well ...... for about 48 hours. To cap off Sky's amazing customer service I look at my phone on Sunday to see three text messages from them - two asking if the issues were resolved and a third one sent only 24 hours after the first one saying due to no response they assume all is well and the case is closed! If I wanted further assistance please call them. Thus far I have tried to call and can't get through ......
Sky are selling a substandard product with a focus on profit and no focus at all on quality or service.
They will continue doing this until people use their feet to protest and walk away from them.
I am going BT and Netflix!

Moved house, was promised a minimum of 12, and potentially 20 from a standard phone line (no Sky fibre available here). Instead I get maybe 4 down, and it disconnects roughly every twenty minutes. I'm using an Xbox one, that has a wired connection to the router to measure this speed. It's absolutely awful, and I have scheduled BT fibre to be installed.

The Sky InterNOT is the worst broadband service which we have had to suffer at this address. For the past three months Sky have proved either unwilling or unable to rectify this unsatisfactory situation.
We have now changed to the Three Mifi mobile broadband service which is simply MAGIC! The bonus being that we can also use it while traveling too, for instance in France or Spain we do not have to pay any more than here in the UK. Furthermore, it costs us less than half that of the SkyInterNOT per month.
Surely a win, win situation, yes?
