I had Post Office broadband at a previous address and when I moved I thought I'd keep it to see if the move made any difference. It hasn't. It's still terrible. I always wake very early and use the internet for a couple of hours before going to work, when it lets me. It is extremely unreliable, constantly slow and stops all the time. I had BT engineers rewire everything and put in new boxes for the phone when I moved and when I phoned customer service about the broadband I was told that the problem was with the connection box in the house. I told the twit that they had just been put in and she was lost for an excuse but tried to get me to take the box to bits. They said they would send out a BT engineer but he would only wait 10 minutes and if I wasn't there I'd have to pay over £100. I took time off work, waited and nobody arrived. They said the problem was fixed at a junction box in the street and he didn't need to come to the flat. Customer service is worse than anything I've ever known. A total lack of communication, treat you like a fool and very difficult to get hold of. I'm looking for a new provider and I'll do it without telling them or giving a reason. Today it has been of more than on!!!

I've been with post office for over a year now & didn't have any problems until now. Just over 3 weeks ago my phone line was crackly & broadband kept dropping so o called po & after 4 days of talking to them on phone I replaced all cables filters etc they even sent me a new router & suggested I go to my local hardware shop & purchase a bt socket face plate which I refused to do, after 6 days I got the 1st engineer visit he replaced the bt socket & reported a fault in the exchange box outside. 3 days after that I got a second engineer who fixed fault outside & my phone & broadband worked for 2 days I replaced my house phone with a brand new one & didn't make any difference. If I plug in my landline my internet goes off until I unplug my phone then it comes back on after about 20 minutes still waiting to get this fixed will be phoning at 9am I paid a full months phone & broadband bill for 6 days of internet, my contract is almost up so going to check out other company's although I think bt is my best bet

From 2014 to 2018, the PO were excellent. Easy to reach help etc.. Now I realise that I am paying hiked up prices for a poor service. I have two properties and they merged them into 1 account. Only 1 change is permitted every 2 weeks. So I waited for two weeks to be told that I. Then I am told that, although FTTC is available, they can't provide it. Also they can't provide the normal ADSL service. Instead, I must stay on PO 'Broadband Connect' which is slower and twice the price due to high maintenance costs. Do not accept this contract as others can provide a faster ADSL line, or even fibre. I now plan to change, but every provider seems to suffer the same poor customer service and unreliable internet. With 1 year contracts to be locked into, make sure you have a guarantee of no-fee exit if they can't deliver the advertised speeds.

Balls. Big hairy ones. Better since getting fibre as actually do get decent speeds but whether it will actually work or not is another thing. Quite often just cuts out, refuses to accept password etc and a lot of the time it’s nothing to do with anything my end, it’s them. If the communication was a bit better and they just put out a tweet saying what was happening and why (“Sorry for the problems in wherever, Frank just pooed on the console and we’re clearing up the mess), they’d probably not seem half as crap... they’re pretty rubbish via phone too as the main goal seems to be to keep you paying whether you have decent service or not. That’s business. Told my fella not to go with the bloody post office for internet, like going to Burger King for office supplies; it’s cheap for a reason. Lots of negs, just one positive; when it is working it can handle 4/5 devices streaming at once without much fuss. If it works.

Despite recent work on the cabling, we are getting just 0.36 mb/s download speed, much like an old modem. We used to get 11.50 mb/s or thereabouts. I have written to POBroadband support team, they quote around ten days to reply, but usually don't reply ever. They also kept escalating our costs, until the bank queried it. No refunds. Explanation was that original plan had expired, but they could not tell me that. We pay around £35 pcm for Broadband and Phone line. HELP! Please ! GJ

When you have a problem, no one to talk to....on 4th call land and 40 minutes later, as by magic, help at the end of the phone, problem solved in two minutes. I would like to give negative stars for customer service The tickets that you can raise on line to request call back are worthless, raised 2 but NO call back. I bet the CEO do not use Post Office for his/her broadband. Cannot wait for contact to finish, the bye, but who to??? Grumpy.,

I added Broadband to my parents Post Office phone account specifically because of the 12 month free broadband offer. After my father died i mistakenly thought it would be a simple thing to just take over the account and pay the bills instead of my dad ( by cash at PO )But no , they insisted on forcing through a change of responsibility - which meant starting a new account in my name.I told them that if they didn't transfer the 12 months free broadband i wasn't interested. After numerous calls i was vaguely assured that i would still get 12 months free broadband but i had nothing in writing, so i phoned them to cancell within the 14 day cooling off period.
Despite the cancellation the new account has still gone through and a charge for broadband has appeared on my bill - despite a letter turning up confirming the Free Broadband.
The call centre staff have completely ignored my wishes to cancell and lied to me at every turn.Unless you enjoy stress avoid the Post Office - needless to say i will try to close my account if they don't fulfill their promises, but they just don't listen i might have the same problem escaping in 18 months time. The only way to cancell is to tell Sky or Plusnet to take over the account and let them try their luck. What good is the 14 day cooling off period if they still ride roughshod over it and carry on regardless?

In the day I usually get about a solid 18mb/s. As soon as it's night, drops to roughly 210kb/s. Literally impossible to do anything. Frequent, random disconnects. And no, it's not because everyone in my household uses the wifi at night. They're on it all day but 6pm onwards the speed is abysmal. A big F-U to this broadband.

I don't normally write reviews, especially negative ones but I felt I had to warn others. Post Office Broadband is associated with Talk Talk. Currently it is the worst service I have ever experienced, its so unreliable you'd think your back in 1995. It cuts off and reconnects daily, not the worst thing but streaming isn't great, the signal is weak and after an update I can no longer access 5Ghz. My kids hate me for getting this shower of *****, as gaming is so laggy and frustrating they now need therapy. Steer clear from this one or I'm sure you'll regret it.

A recent Post Office broadband policy appears to be blocking access to any VPN service capabilities via the DSL connection. With my research, a security edict is in place requiring use of a VPN when accessing any sensitive resource when off-premise. I specifically use either Pro XPN or Express VPN both of which are now being blocked by The Post Office. I am only able to VPN connect slowly using a mobile hotspot or via public Internet such as the public library. This practice of blocking a trusted security method seems asinine at best for a service that allegedly promotes secure practices.

Utterly Hopeless. customer service can take up to 5 weeks to respond. There is no live customer service it is only email. If you lose your password they POST it to you!!!!!
They do not respond at all and there is no online account management. If you want to pay your bill you have to phone them. Archaic and outdated service. Avoid at all costs

I wish I had looked at these reviews before I switched to the Post Office Broadband. Very unreliable! I have worked with computers for over 20 years and I think the bulk of the problems with the service lie within the cheap and nasty modem/router that they give out. With 14 months to run on my contract, I'm going to replace the router with a better unit myself.

have only been with them just past the cool off period and have been plagued with service dropouts lines tested perfect no other faults found used several malware checkers and different antivirus scannes etc yet the minute i switch on there ZyXEL router within minutes it starts getting non stop requests to access the router managment remotely. so far most denied my password was changed so first reset it and added new password . CS now claim its a matter for police not them every 40 mins every 16th failed remote access attempt the broadband connection gets dropped this is just another version of a DOS attack to interupt ones service the fact they claim they cannot do anything is disgusting even with the ip changing dynamically it still excactly the same only other time i experience this level of dropping was when with TalkTalk broadband is it a budget thing that BT dont give the discounting companys security for I wonder

Do not go for post office if you are going to move within the year.

Not only will you have to create a new contract with them (ontop of increasing prices with the exact same package) but for some reason they will charge you an additional £60 for installation fees even though I had to set it up myself the first time.

This provider is a scam with constant dropouts.

Customer service okay. Router signal weak and really flaky. Connection speed utterly abysmal, verging on unusable. Worst broadband performance I’ve ever had. Service from previous providers has been fine at same address. Couldn’t wait to leave and left at first opportunity. Won’t be going back.

Cut my phone off because my bill was going to be more than usual ,not knowing I'd sold my business and was now
using this phone much more .Customer Services said it was
    their 'legal responsibility'???
Have now gone elsewhere after 13 years for ONE SIXTH
    of the cost !!!
Am now having problems with getting a final bill.
I would suggest all the result of having systems running
    a business rather than humans
As a communications business the Post Office Telecoms
typifies the modern desperate state of faceless business.
    Look elsewhere !!!

When I moved from a shared house to just living with my boyfriend we dropped from 5 to 10 outages a day to about 2 to 5. How exciting! They spelled my name wrong twice on their paperwork too, though have at least always been polite. Sort of. Cheap, though.

Don't go PO Broadband. It's frustrating. Unless you're broke, then you do what you have to, right?

DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES GET YOUR BROADBAND FROM THE POST OFFICE THERE CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPT(IF YOU CAN CALL IT THAT) IS TERRIBLE.ITS LIKEE HAVING A CONVERSATION WITH A BRICK WALL.FULL OF TOTALLY RUDE INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE NOT AT ALL WILLING TO LOOK AT YOUR PROBLEM. The broadband was initially good to start with but then cheap router box decided i couldnt have wifi they then promised to send out me a new one within 7 working days i waited allmost 4 weeks for them then to say i needed to pick it up from post office. which was impossible for me to do due to work commitments.my mother waited at my home every day for nothing. i then changed to plusnnet and was told my final bill will be sent out 14 days after account was closed but they already refered me to a debt collection agency before they issued the bill.i also asked there customer service dept to speak to a team leader/manager on numerous occasions and was refused every single time.which makes me think the are all covering each others backside as service is beyond a joke.very embarrassing for a company as big as the post office and simply NOT GOOD ENOUGH.

Just appalling. During contract the speeds are highly variable with periods of it being completely Unusable. Request technical support and the best you can expect are e-mails telling you they've tested your line and everything's fine so they're considering the case closed. Woe betide anyone calling towards the end of the contract and hoping to cancel with some peace of mind that they'll know what Post Office will charge them as early termination charges are pulled out of thin air but they "can't tell you what your final bill is cos it hasn't been produced yet" (And that from the billing department).
Just save yourself the hassle and use a company which knows its backside from its elbow.

Updates tend occur during daytime working hours and can last the entire day - no notice is given prior to updating. This is extremely annoying and most inconvenient, as the email service etc. is out of reach during these periods of updating.
I have tried to contact Customer Services to establish how long before there is access to the service, but only a recorded message advising that the system is being updated is available to the customer - that adds to the frustration.

Research before you buy. Varying speed very slow buffering etc. Tech assistant suggesting upgrading to fibre at extra cost. I would strongly suggest avoiding the Post office.

Do not take out a contract with the post office!
We are moving house and have 3 months left on an 18 month contract, according to customer service we have two options, either pay a cancelation fee or sign up for another 18 month contract at the new property! I am quite happy to take the existing contract to the new property and then decide what to do in September but the post office won't do that!

    This is blackmail!!

I DO NOT recommend this provider at all. Their customer service is appalling. I ordered an extra item for my landline ad was told by them it would take 72 hours to be activated. Nothing happened so I rang back and was told it could take up to 10 days so I waited again, nothing, on 15th day I rang again and was told there was no record of my item order so I cancelled it. Next day I get an email from them saying they've added the item to my bill...!!!! Absolutely appalling customer service and can't wait to end of contract to leave. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!

Having read the bad reviews i was sceptical, so wish id had listened. Absolutely terrible hardly ever connects to internet and when it does keeps dropping out or buffering. I live in a good signal area of Derby and only a few yards from distribution box so no excuse for it .moved on and gone to sky. AVOID.
