NEVER EVER GO NEAR THE POST OFFICE FOR YOUR TELECOMS.

I recently decided to change my internet & phone provider from The Post Office.
Primarily this was because on several occasions I had tried to contact them with regard to switching to an advertised better deal than the one I had been supplied. At one point even going into a Post Office to see if they could contact the appropriate office. No luck there either.

My new provider contacted the Post Office as a matter of course when 'switching'.

Which was why I was surprised when some time later I received an invoice from the Post Office, but for amounts in the future.

I telephoned them and Lo & Behold I actually got to speak to a human. I explained the situation, and was assured I would receive an updated invoice - which duly arrived with a 'pay by' date on it.

Why was I leaving I was asked – because your customer service is non existent, I replied, and was never offered a better deal even though I class myself as a loyal customer - No response to that.

I therefore arranged via internet banking to pay on the date they required, and it was duly paid on that date according to my internet statement.

Some days later I received a text from a company using 3 letters as a logo? I had never heard of, requesting I contact them urgently about a financial matter. Another scam I thought. I received several more 'urgent' requests over a period of days, so decided to 'play' and see what it was about, only to be told (I paraphrase here) the information required was of a delicate nature about a close friend – who? I inquired – 'we aren't allowed to release that information' – then I'm not going to speak to you, I reply!

A couple of days later I receive a snotty threatening debt collectors letter about proceedings that will ensue if I don't pay the outstanding debt (bearing in mind I have paid monthly on the dot for the last 6 years, I thought this was a bit rich).

I telephoned them, only to be told the debt was cleared. I know I said so why are you sending snotty letters dated after the payment date? It's paid now so it doesn't matter, says the operative.

All this because the Post Office are too incompetent/stupid/lazy/inept to liaise with anyone, let alone their debt collectors – what a bunch of unmitigated cretins – JUST NEVER GO THERE FOR YOUR TELECOMS.YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

Unbelievable!!!. I made a request from the Post Office to move a line. I was informed an engineer would come between 8am-1pm. Nobody arrived nor did I receive any notification. It is now 48 hours later I have still not received any information. The Post Office is saying that they have no idea what is happening as they have not been informed by open reach of any problem. They also tell me that they can not give me any timescale when I will receive more information.

My 92 year old aunt only uses her house phone unfortunately while I was away on holiday her phone bill for £60 came in. I tried desperately to sort it and spent two hours on the phone to the Post Office. I couldn't get through to speak to anyone and as soon as I keyed my aunts in the phone cut off. I paid the outstanding bill and expected the phone to be put back on. She has never defaulted before. Not only did the post office cut her phone but also disconnected her from the service totally. Apart from leaving one of society's many st vulnerable people without communication she now cannot use the same phone number that she has had for 50 years. All of her friends will not be able to contact her and I cannot find her address book for me to contact them. Today I spoke to two very unhelpful and bordering on rude 'customer service' employees. My aunt might be able to be accepted back to the Post Office - I was informed. A company that does this is cruel and heartless and I will find another provider. I know it was my error to not pay the bill in time but a bit of leeway would have saved my aunt immeasurable trauma.

I have been without email since last Thursday afternoon. When I contacted customer service no-one seems to know anything or if they do they are not telling. Some of theoperators were quite rude. I am changing my operator.

Apalling customer service! I have been without internet for 4 weeks now after changing address, have spoken to 5 different people and still haven't got my WiFi activated. Every time I contacted the customer services department, the answer they gave us was " We will call you in a week/couple of days ".

Extremely rude customer care staff. My mother was supposed to go live in the early afternoon with the landline and broadband but till 6pm there was still no connection. After calling technical support not only were they unable to do anything but not understanding and unprofessional. They even refused to put the phone down out of fear of the call going onto the survey. We have to wait till midnight to see if we get connection or have been told to call at 8am, until then we have do not even have a landline connection!

They took me over without my knowledge. They did not ask for my agreement if I want to be their client and kept taking money of my account for 3 months before I even realised. The broadband itself is extremely slow and the worst I ever had! Do not do it to yourself and never ever ever go with PO broadband.

Absolute rubbish. Speed oscillates between 300k - 15k / sec. Apparently we are "too far from the exchange" for a half decent connection. Basically it takes hours to download anything substantial (IOS updates, iTunes movies etc), that is if the connection doesn't break halfway through, then you have the dubious pleasure of starting all over again. Classifying this as broadband is taking the proverbial mickey.

This is on behalf of my mum. she has been with these people for quite a few years now. The broadband speed has been pitiful throughout. However there was a period last year (late sept. to Feb this year) that she had no internet at all. They claim their systems had been hacked and a fix had been sent out. Mum was in hospital during the time of the fix so it wasn't fixed. The bill arrived, she paid it except for the £26 broadband portion as she had had no service. She has a lifeline system in case she falls at home (she's 82), regardless, they cut off the phone because of the £26! She had also rung them and talked about it and someone was supposed to be looking into it. The more I read about them, it makes me wonder how a bunch of callous thugs like this are allowed to remain in business. Caring Britain eh?

If no stars was an option that would be my review. Terrible customer service and terrible wifi. DO NOT USE THEM!! May be cheap but no wonder! My other have is the main name on the policy. I always phone and they speak to me anyway. All of a sudden today they can’t talk to me as I’m not on the policy. They say they will send out someone to have a look, we wait in and nobody turns up. They never call back when they say they will. In the 12 months of the policy we have never had a full month of no issues. Working from home I loose money when I can’t connect to my laptop. So far lost over a weeks worth of pay due to this wifi. When they explain thinks over the phone they use jargon which obviously I don’t know what they mean, they don’t listen to what I’m saying. The. When I ask to get out through to customer service they put me through to an automated survey. Don’t waste your time!

We joined Post Office last year October and I can say - this is one of the worst decisions we made. The Internet is very slow, it cuts off every 5 to 10min which makes impossible to use. Me and my partner working form home and we have to use our phone internet because Post Office is refusing to help us! In the last 2 months I called post office more than a 10 times. Every single time I was told to turn it off and on, change filter and etc. I nearly had to beg them to send one of their engineers to come and check my house because they kept claiming that there's no issues with the broadband. Once we got booked for an appointment we had to wait a week. We agreed on the time and were old that we have to make sure we will be at home, otherwise we will have to pay a penalty (I believe £150). We stayed at home, 30min before appointment I received a call from engineer saying he will be late. The engineer showed up 30min later, he couldn't find out the house even thought we live in Central London and nowadays everyone has a GPS. The engineer refused to come as he couldn't find a parking and we were told to get another appointment??!!! After this we called Post office and they told us unfortunately we will have to wait another week for an appointment! We tried to finish a contract with Post office due to poor service and slow internet and the only thing we got told - If you decided to finish contract with us unfortunately you will have to pay extra charges for it . They not helping they own clients to fix the problem but also they not letting you to leave their company without extra charges EVEN THOUGH YOU HAVE A LOT OF REASONS TO DO IT. I hope this will help someone before choosing the internet provider. Shame on you Post Office, the worst internet provider.

I had a nightmare experience with the Post Office. I've paid for 50mbps speed but got 3-4mbps. I had to raise 3 complaints and called them at least 10 times, then they've booked the Openreach appointment and nobody turned up. The customer services are beyond abysmal, their electronic telephone identification takes a very long time but it does not work. I was on the phone for hours only to be put on hold and disconnected. I complained by email but never received any response. The customer service attitude was 'I don't care, leave me alone' type. I honestly can say that I've never experienced anything this bad, not even Talk Talk is THAT bad. I generally think the telecom companies in the UK provide exceptionally bad service and Virgin was also pretty terrible but this provider... Please stay away from them. If you have a problem with them - you are on your own.

Avoid PostOffice Broadband at all costs. I have only been with them one month, and already my broadband speed has dropped from 8Mbs to 1.6Mbs. Their technical department keep contradicting their instructions t me and they are asking me to conduct tests that should have been carried out when the fault first developed. I wish I had never left my last ISP! I will be contacting OFCOM if things aren't sorted quickly.

I recently left PO Broadband after the absolutely DREADFUL speed I was receiving, i.e. 1.4 MBPS. When I contacted technical support, I was told it was probably a fault on my line. I waited 10 days for them to sort their service out, and when nothing improved I left. Today I joined Plusnet, and my speed is now 15.7 MBPS!!! Fancy that! Avoid PO Broadband like the plague.

We transferred to P.O. broadband because of Sky price increase, worst decision ever, we got phone line on 10 Nov. and were kept waiting for broadband till 7th Dec, getting download speed of .89. We made constant calls to customer/technical services, and never resolved. In all honesty they should not be operating a BB service, not fit for purpose, so we have now gone back to sky, although we cancelled in the 14 days, just waiting for them to try and charge us for early exit!!

The speed was far below previous companies I used and only went with them because I only wanted a 1 year contract.
The broadband constantly dropped out, customer service was rigid in their interpretation of the rules, ie, they require 2 weeks notice to cancel a line and are unable or unwilling to stop any calls being made from the line while the cease is in place.
Ask to speak to a manager and you will be told someone will call you back in 3/5days.
I would recommend that everyone stays well away from this company as they clearly have no idea how to run a business.

    Lets be frank here...

My wife signed up for Post Office Broadband and Home Phone, and was quoted £21 a month by the sales rep in the town center.

Sounds like a great deal BUT they did NOT tell her that this DI NOT INCLUDE LINE RENTAL - Which pushes the real cost up to £50 a month...

Fortunately, There is action being taken on this and soon all Home Phone and Broadband providers will have to display costs WITH LINE RENTAL!!!!

Then there is connection, The Supplied modem is AWFUL! It has frequent issues and needs to be hard rebooted on a regular basis.

The connection is at best slow, and not the speed promised - So again, False Advertising!

Then having a slight income issue, Her bill was just £27 behind - She had a letter about it but had missed phone calls due to being out at work - On receiving the letter, she raked together the extra £30 - Payed at the Post Office assured by the staff that paying in cash would mean her payment would be registered straight away...

But with her Broadband and home phone being cut off - She called them and was told this was incorrect and that this would have been quicker has she paid by debit card.

I have worked in a call center so again I know that this is total BS!They just have a record on their computers that a payment is pending - It takes 3-5 working days to receive that payment.

From Dodgy Equipment, to false sales and seriously poor customer service - THIS COMPANY NEEDS TO BE SHUNNED!

If your thinking of going to post office for broadband DON'T! We've only been a month and we're going to cancel and go back to BT after constant phonecalls to them, being told lies from day one and really bad service from the off (not even getting 0.03 YES THAT'S 0.03 mbps)! Costs more but at least you get the service from bt!!! We have just contacted watchdog and be contacting post office customer services to get a full refund of all monies paid to them and compensation!!!

Wish I had the reviews before signing up. Our service was activated 14 days but we’ve had very little broadband, it constantly cuts out. On intimating my desire to terminate Contract was told the exit fee would be £231.74. Surely something needs to be done, how can you sign up to something before it’s activated, without being able to see what you’re getting. DONT DO IT!

We are a 2 person household and internet usage doesn’t extend beyond streaming tv onto the iPad (hardly ever with more than 1 iPad in use at same time). So we have been fine with the ‘standard broadband’ packages offered by BT, Sky and most recently Plusnet. When that contract ran out in the summer I went with the cheapest option available (which I have always done in the past without any problems) and went with The Post Office. My expected speed was given as 13-17Mb but in reality it is rarely above 1Mb. Streaming is unreliable at best. The desktop computer basically doesn’t think it’s even connected to the internet! I’m seriously considering breaking my contract for the first time as previous reviews have stressed The Post Office is useless at addressing issues... I would avoid in future and maybe the ‘cheapest’ in this arena isn’t a wise option.

Terrible service and product. Broadband kept dropping so I cancelled the Internet service. I came back due to the business of changing providers and I was told everything was done and the service would be back on on the 18th etc and a new router was on its way. After 10 days it didn't appear and after calling was told the broadband contract wasn't accepted but they couldn't tell me why!!! No correspondence at all. Disgusted

Do not go near this supplier. My broadband should have been working since the 7th August, now 20 August. The customer service is totally useless, you are held on the phone from 25-45 and when you talk to somebody they say will phone you back . then when you demand an engineer to come out & they (engineer) get it to work for 45 mins & you contact them again, they blame BT, your computer, anything to get out of taken responsibility & then they inform you that you cannot cancel the contract as the contract started when you agree to post office computer services, not when they switch on the services

people must remember that this company is not a broadband company, it is a company working as a third party.

As I stated in Facebook & twitter and for selling stamps, but not much

I am a single person who only has a mobile phone and an amazon fire stick to run on WiFi. I don't even own a laptop. This broadband won't even allow me to browse Facebook or bbc news without cutting out. It cuts out constantly and I have never had above one bad on my signal despite sitting nx to the router. I noticed this month that my contact is up and they have charged me £30 which they would have continued doing so if I had not noticed and they did not alert me to my contract expiring! I will me changing providers today (and reading reviews before doing so!)

The worst broadband provider ever. Our broadband is down at least twice a week. We've been promised a new router numerous times. We can't leave our contract early without paying a £75 fee. They will not waive the fee despite the horrendous service. Customer Services are all talk. AVOID P.O. broadband like the plague.

Traffic shaping ruins this service provider. You can do a broadband speed test while Torrenting the latest Linux Install, the torrent will hit 400kibps (1000+ seeders), but the speed test will show 12mbit download AT THE SAME TIME!
It works, cheap, pays for what you gets.

If i could put 0 i would . The speed is ridiculous, i cant even watch a short video on Insta sooo how slow it must be. The customer service is no good either. They promised to call me back which never happened, they promised to look at internet speed never happened. Very frustrating experience. Wouldnt recomend to anyone!!!
