Seeing my same experiences in other reviews:
    * Handover wasn't smooth - no connection on 'go live date'. Had to call up several times. On day operative didn't seem to know enough tech to give informed advice. Next day was told 'give us another 48 hours'! It didn't take that long - was actually quite quick from that point, but surprising anyway.
    * Dropping out repeatedly, 8 days later (adding up to hours in last 24 - although the info says it may drop out in first 10 days, as router adjusts itself, a call confirmed this shouldn't be happening)
    * First paper statement showed £10 extra charge than agreed - had to call again; was told was generic letter. No good - should be personal!
    * Couldn't use certain apps on phone over wifi. Had to call again. Told 'Safeguard' was on and blocking - not acceptable. Big brother behaviour.
    * Didn't think I'd been given a username (needed to log into account). Had to call again. Later found it in fairly small type, on back of letter 3/4 way down under heading 'Get started with My Account' - my mistake perhaps but needs to be more prominent with 'Username' clearly highlighted.
    * Thinking I didn't have a username I tried to log in with customer number, as seemed possible onscreen, but was sent in circles. Agh!
    * Website uses Flash Player to display bills. Firstly, I shouldn't have to download a player (with past security issues)to see my bill. And... it dosen't work anyway. Instead of my bill I see a copy of my own address bar with all by tabs etc. VERY disconcerting! Is my screen/ personal info being snooped on? How do I know? Used live chat. Operative told me to use another browser! Clearly I shouldn't have to download and use another browser to view my blinking bill! Then just gave me the number to call.
(Getting a bit hacked off by this point)
Staff on phone are generally lovely and native English speakers so points there. Speed (when it's connected is as good (so far) as with Sky.
Overall: so far a problematic service in early stages but hopefull, with decent speeds being seen, that it will settle and satisfy. More work & small twaeks needs done to iron our creases & increase user friendliness.

Hi, my partner signed us up to the Post Office b/b a month or so ago and since its gone live on 5 April we have had no bb each day - it constantly disconnects or drops to unusable speeds. I would like to move but we are tied into a 12 month contract with a service not fit for purpose (I am using my mobile data to tether and is almost used up!) Is there any deals we can do with BT to swap (someone said that BT will pay to move customers from other suppliers?) Thanks.

What can I say that hasn't been said by others, basically my partner signed us up with PO because it was the cheapest, but there is a reason for this, pity hadn't seen the reviews before! Since 'go live' (or should I say go dead) on 5 April, the broadband has not worked more than it has worked and even when it does work it is soooo slow, more like old dial up. Is the worst broadband 'provider' ever!!! Customer service was quick to answer but have not fixed problem. Ran line test and said all ok. Said an engineer would come out on one of two days (today Monday or tomorrow) but on Sunday I got a call to see how broadband was now. It was actually working ok for once so I stupidly thought it was fixed. Customer service said an engineer had checked it but found no problems (I now wonder if anyone has actually been out as I was previously told they may need to come into the house and they had no appointments until Monday). I was told by customer services that the problems could be due to the wind - never heard that before - and that if it reoccurs call back and they will get an engineer out to the house (which is why I think no one has checked it and they just don't want to get engineers out!) Anyway Sunday night, 10pm no boadband again, gave up trying to connect after an hour. And this morning patchy and keeps saying no internet. I really wish had not left Sky (they wanted to put prices up) never had any problems with them. I don't think the problem with PO is in the house, in the street or anywhere else, but is basically the PO - they can't provide a reliable, stable broadband connection. Do not sign up with them or touch with a barge-pole, unless you want constant disconnection and slow service!! Is not fit for service!! Have had to save this to copy and paste as keep losing connection to post review! Will have to just use my mobile data to tether (wish I could invoice PO for this!) as no broadband at all!! Help, I can't put up with a year of this!!

A recent Post Office broadband policy appears to be blocking access to any VPN service capabilities via the DSL connection. With my research, a security edict is in place requiring use of a VPN when accessing any sensitive resource when off-premise. I specifically use either Pro XPN or Express VPN both of which are now being blocked by The Post Office. I am only able to VPN connect slowly using a mobile hotspot or via public Internet such as the public library. This practice of blocking a trusted security method seems asinine at best for a service that allegedly promotes secure practices.

Extremely poor all round. I'm reluctant to give even one star. My deal is for Standard Broadband(up to 17Mps). I check the speed regularly and frequently. The best I've got is 14.4 for about 3 days - but only after making a formal complaint! Also, there are frequent service interruptions. Don't touch PO Bband with a long bargepole, I'm transferring to a new supplier ASAP.

Joined the 15.90 per month plan and 24hrs after my 'go live' do date am still waiting for my broadband and phone to go live.
On phoning customer service they said there had been some kind of mix-up but couldn't actually explain what the problem was and advised that it could be a further 24hrs before service commenced.
Furthermore, on signing up to the deal they added a 10.00 set-up fee which was not part of the plan I signed up to and they only cancelled it when I complained.
With regards to customer service actually getting through to someone was relatively quick (about 10mins) but the tone of the customer service agent was unfriendly and, as they couldn't in fact tell me what the problem was, unhelpful.
Will see if my initial experience of Post Office Broadband improves but so far I have nothing to recommend about it and, as yet...no broadband!!!

My mother passed away in February so I rang the Post Office to have her contract transferred into my name. A manin custoner services talked me into signing up for a 18 month contract for £18 per month. Turns out after 3 months I will be charged £28 per month. What a con, and now I have been told that because I changed my contract they don't support or give email addresses. I wasn't told this when I signed up and if I knew it was going to happen I wouldn't have done it. So now I cannot receive or send emails from mypostoffice.co.uk. The excuse is that they have changed the user name from mypostoffice.co.uk to pobroadband.co.uk and don't support email any longer. I have also had wifi connection problems for years and keep getting told when I ring them that I need to change the microswitch even though it is only a few months old. I would not recommend them to anyone. I thought the Post Office was a reliable company as it has been around for years, how wrong can you be!!! Don't use them

Rotten! Poor service all round. They say that there is nothing wrong with our internet and wouldn't do anything about the outages we get continually. Very hit and miss as to whether we have internet. Tied in for 18 months. Can't wait yo buy ourselves out of the contract. Avoid. Very disappointed and disheartened.

For the price I am paying it is a very good service. I think it is the cheapest one around, £17.00/month. It is only ordinary broadband but the download speeds I get are very good. I think is ideal for someone new to the internet.

Very heartbroken by this provider, the internet stops every time it doesn’t work one day without stoping over 3 times and becoming slow.
They take customers very lightly and am one of them, they need to start being more professional & wide open.

I was tempted to PO Broadband by price and of course the wonderful non-existent lure 0f a £50 Amazon Voucher/card.
The broadband was painfully but I was assured this would speed up after a few days, which it did to just the broadband of anyone I know.
Annoyance 1 - Broadband just stops and goes dead for no good reason for unspecified periods of time. You can all imagine the annoyance of downloads failing, films freezing, webpages refusing to open waiting for the internet sign on the box yo go from red to green.
Annoyance 2 - I was promised a 50 Argos card/voucher thing. I only noticed this on MoneySavingExpert while looking for another (ANY OTHER) provider.
Anoyance 3 - On approaching customer service about the internet link at the bottom right being off while the router was showing connection I was instructed to go out and buy multiple cables to test it. Cheek.
Will be switching VERY soon and will NEVER go back unless I hear better things. Stick to delivering letters, your only slow at that not unbearably rubbish.

Don’t use this company. I don’t recommend to anyone. The worst broadband ever I have used.
I don’t have signal when I am moving from one room to another room. When I called them they said we don’t support WiFi we cannot do anything about it . I knew that it is a technical problem with the condition and the socket but they don’t want to send an engineer because it cost them money and they don’t want to resolve the issues. I am very angry they taken my money every month but they don’t want to fix the issues and I cannot cancel my contract because they will charge me I have to put up with my issues till my contact is finished.DONOT USE THIS COMPANY

Broadband speed is consistently up and down, meaning half the time the internet cant keep up with your browsing or crashes. And I hope noone has a problem with there bill or service your provided with because customer service is dreadful, they ignore you talk over you and honestly dont answer your questions just beat around the Bush.

Useless...! Dreadful speeds, often drops out completely, worst provider we’ve had in last 20 years in the same house; same phone line; appalling service. Thought it was a good deal when I saw the offer, but can’t wait for last two months of contract to end. Don’t waste your money. Very frustrating experience. I now learn i’m just one of many....far too many!

Cheapest contract for broadband and landline I could find. I'm with them for 3 years now. Just called them because I'll move to another city and they sorted me withing 10 minutes, all good news. No moving costs, no engineer needs to come out and I will now have an even cheaper contract with a better broadband speed. Mind you, I don't use the Internet at home very often.

Echo all the bad things people are saying, I just wish I had read these reviews first. Here is the letter I have just sent to them:

    20th March 2019

    Ref:

    Dear Sir or Madam

I am writing to cancel the contract I have with you for the following reasons:

    - The engineer installed the new line on March 14th but was unable to complete the job as he was not qualified to do it. An Open Reach engineer came to complete the job in the afternoon but was unable to do so as there was some problem with it. He returned with a colleague the following day and they both spent all morning on it.
    - I had no idea if they had fixed it so rang your company to find out. I was told that another engineer had to come to my property on March 20th to fix the problem, and this he did.
    - The box that had originally been fitted was the wrong one as it contained both a jack input as well as a phone one. I had connected the router as per the instructions sent to me, ie via a broadband filter. Apparently this was wrong as the router needed to be connected directly through the phone socket, specifically without a filter
    - However, this meant that the system went ‘live’ finally, after waiting almost a week for it to do so.
    - I then found that although it was connected I was prevented from accessing various sites due to the safeguard settings, which I had not requested. It said I could change them through the settings section on my account.
    - I then tried to do this but could not access the account because I had not been sent an account number, username or password, despite being told in my welcome letter that these would be posted and emailed to me. I fail to see how both could have been ‘lost in the post’
    - I then rang you, yet again, and was given a password which turned out to be incorrect. At this stage I had had enough and asked to be transferred to the department dealing with cancellations.
    - I was left in a queue for far too long and so decided to try again and hope for a different operator to give me, hopefully the right password. I was then given the same password but told to wait 15 minutes to try it, for some reason. I did this but was not surprised when this didn’t work either.
    - I then decided to try one more thing and entered the ‘lost password’ part of your system. This asked for various details, which I gave, before telling me ‘we cannot complete the operation because ‘your secret question and answer have not been set’ . How am I supposed to set a secret question and answer if I can’t even access the account?
Sadly, I am all too used to suffering incompetence with companies such as yours, and invariably the larger the company the worse they are. However, I can’t remember ever having to deal with a level of incompetence such as this.

Needless to say I want to have no more to do with you. Please refund the charges you have taken from me to date and mark the contract as cancelled. I have cancelled my direct debit.

I really do not appreciate so much of my time being wasted like this

    Yours faithfully

The worst broadband I have ever used, customer service very poor, broadband service very poor, speed very poor.
The worst thing is I have not use my Internet for the passed 3weeks and am still paying for it. They have no engineering to come and fix it, And I can not cancel the contract because they are saying my Internet service is live and therefore if I cancel it, I have to pay £150, I have to wait until the engineer called me. This is the worst service I have had in uk. I do not recommend this service. I regret using their service.

I recently took out a fibre broadband contract with the PO. Initially speeds were much lower than estimated however when I contacted the PO about this the technical helpdesk were easy to contact, very helpful and arranged for Openreach to investigate. Speed is now within estimate, my only small criticism is that it took 8 days to resolve.

STAY AWAY - Since day dot, the post office has been on the back foot trying to make up for their terrible service and speeds... Their latest let down is due to myself moving home and advising that the fibre optic broadband that I pay for and use for work won’t be available until after 28 days of my move!!! I repeat STAY AWAY!!!!!

Beware !! Post Office Broadband Safeguard is currently "stuck" on child friendly for new customers ... therefore no over 18 access is available and yet they are still selling it ... Basically its not fit for purpose if you want to put a bet on ... buy vape juice and the like !!! There is no "fix date" ... They are very apologetic about it .... but thats not a lot of good to me

I don't normally leave feedback and even less so negative but PO Broadband definitely deserves it. I was transferred from the Fuel Broadband service when they sold it to PO Broadband and so I was locked in for 18 months. That's finished now so I'm off and I wouldn't recommend PO Broadband to anybody, even my ex wife. Good riddance to both of them, they are both useless and expensive.

Not impressed. Had the router delivered to my local post office as I didn't know if it would fit through my letter box, they promptly sent it back to the sender! Rang them and got them to send it to my home, knowing I would have to pick it up from my local collection centre, they left it behind a bin! Connected it, and now can't even check my lottery numbers, apparently 'it's a known problem'! Great if you work from home and can't access sites that you depend on. Not impressed.

If you are thinking of getting PO B/band DO NOT DO IT. The customer 'service' is lacking, technical support awful (they refer you to customer service girls who 'don't know , sorrry'. It is talk talk under a n other name apparently. They say it takes 3 days for the internet to 'settle down' when new router is connected and then it should work. Do not hold your breath. It connects for a few minutes and drops. No one at PO knows how to change the security settings - it comes with child guards etc so limits what you can access (if router is connected long enough for you to connect to anything). I want to return to old provider and pay the extra - I got service, proper technical support when needed and did not have to wait 10 minutes listening to awful music on the 'phone before I got a human to speak to me. Seriously, do not use these people - there is no support, no speed, no help, no advice, and no internet connection.

I am being honest for this review, this post office internet it completely waste of money and time. I asked them to cancel on the same day service which I used and I have been informed I can’t do it, customer service was so bad and rude people. Can’t even download any application or watch anything online like YouTube it’s keep loading I wouldn’t recommend any body please please stay away from this post office. I don’t understand why we pay if we don’t get service (Internet). This is biggest mistake I ever done to chosen to select post office broadband.
Nothing is good about really frustrated !!!!!

My first bill was over charged. Not a great start.

but now the internet drops out at the same time every evening (just after 7pm) and does not correct itself until around 10.30pm. I have called to discuss the matter every evening for 6 weeks (luckily the phone number is free from the landline). Apparently 2 engineers have been sent out to take a look - but they have never actually arrived!

I have been told I cannot cancel the contract without paying the rest of the term off....which, for a service that I signed up to and am yet to receive, I am extremely unhappy about.

There is a reason that the cost is low...it's because the support, speed and reliability are all terrible.

I do not recommend Post office broadband, just pay a little more and use one of the big, tried and tested, suppliers.

The fact that everybody seems to be saying the same thing about them makes me wonder how long they can continue to operate.

i had post office for a number of years but when i moved to a new address i had problems. They said that my contract had to be cancelled and a new contract set up. After the move i found that my old contract had not been cancelled so i had two contracts set up and i was paying for both. I told them of this problem and asked for a refund i have paid for the line i was not able to used that was mistakenly made by the post office line installers. Up to know i have not had a satisfactory settlement back from them. I have been in touch with the trading standers and the Ombridgeman they have until march to resolve this matter. I have left the post office for giving me this bad service and i will use a new provider. DO NOT USE THE POST OFFICE FOR YOUR BROADBAND THEY MAKE MISTAKES WITH OUT SORTING THEM QUICKLY.

Left Plusnet to try the Post Office not realising it was a front for Talk Talk. My download sync speed has dropped by 35% and my connection drops several times a day, often in quick succession, an issue I never experienced with Plusnet. I deeply regret getting sucked in by the cheap deal on offer, it genuinely wouldn't be worth it even for free. To top it all off, their call centre staff think they're clever and try to troll you until they discover that you have a record feature on your phone, at which point they become terrified and hang up, knowing that they've just incriminated themselves by being deliberately obtuse in order to deflect responsibility and making asinine statements in order to antagonise the customer. I have the mp3s to prove it.

Absolute hot garbage of a broadband service, daily disconnections, slow upload and download speeds.
Not advised, wouldn't let my worst enemy use this broadband service.

Receiving 0.5mb/s and support tell me this is what is being payed for and there’s no problem even though the package is advertised as 11mb. Extremely reluctant to look into the line or settings. Infact say they cannot change settings thier end. The only broadband supplier that I’ve come across that are unable to do this. Go with talk talk, it’s cheaper, faster and has better support. Sadly I’m not the account holder in this situation, I can only advise the oap’s to switch as they are getting mugged off by the post office.
