This is possibly one of the worst companies I have ever had any dealings with. We signed up to a 12 month fixed price contract as we thought the price was good. What a mistake. From the moment we changed over to them, our internet became almost non-existent. It would drop out for hours, sometimes days on end. It even got to the point where our printer could not connect to the network and refused to print anything at all. When we called customer service, we would be fobbed off with a load of excuses and put on hold for sometimes up to 20 minutes, finally being put through to their 'Technical' team who all sounded like they were completely clueless. We never once had any problems resolved by them. This went on for 3 months and after endless calls with no resolution we decided to leave and pay the breaking contract fee. We emigrated over to Sky and it was the best thing we've ever done. For £3.00 more a month the service is infinitely better and so is the customer service. If you want to keep your sanity, I suggest you avoid Origin like the plague - there are just as good offers to be had elsewhere with a much better all round service.

Absolutely awful, unreliable service since my contract was sold on to Origin from Ovo from SSE with no get-out. Luckily, there's only 2 months left. After a 2 hour wait on hold I've cancelled from the renewal date. Now to see if they keep on charging!!!
    What's the bets?

Failing internet, phone line cuts off while on the phone. Put on hold for minimum of 40 minutes then disconnected. Customer service is appalling. Router didn’t work was offered compensation which was never received. Don’t reply to emails, 14 emails sent! Not a single reply. Never received call backs as told I would. Ombudsman contacted and took case on and struggled with contact. Agreement made for compensation after 2 months. Origin had 28 days to make compensation payment and failed, however took more money from my bank after the account with them was closed. Case is still ongoing with ombudsman. Disgusting treatment from this company.

    DO NOT BUY!
My router was set up and didn't work, when I phoned them for help I was left on hold for 2 hours then the calls dropped, emailed several times with no reply and tried texting the company. Still no word back, however took my money with no service. Do not waste your time with this company.

ORIGIN IS THE WORST QUALITY OF BROADBAND I’VE EVER USED. I have never left a review on anything but if this stops just one person from starting an Origin account then it’s worth it. It can’t cope with more than one person using it at a time and since I have switched it has been literally unusable, I know that sounds like a conspiracy but it took me 15 minutes to load this page just to leave a review. Customer service was pleasant every time I rang but the quality of connection is dreadful. It’s cheap for a reason, please do not sign up with Origin!!!!!

    RUBBISH....... AVOID AT ALL COST

Massive mistake to pay £125 for year to qualify for discount.

I had my broadband installed today expecting 10 mb speeds as previous suppliers only to find my speed is a super slow 3.5 mb. I rang customers service asking for my money back and they told me the cooling off period is when first signed up which was now over 14 days ago not when i had my bradband installed( how convenient for them)

Waste of money. I should have read the reviews on this company before diving in. Hope you don't make the same mistake

    Oh dear, huge mistake.
Connection is so unrelaible that it is off more than it is on. Origin have sent so many Openreach Enginners that I have a Membership with their Lottery Syndicate. S'Funny that the issues only started with these providers and none of my earlier ones.
After literally months of nonsense I am finally pushed to go elsewhere but I feel I have already been far too tolerant.

Absolutely the worst broadband provider I have ever had the misfortune to have tried!
Do not sign up with them.
Sent out router saying it would all be set up, conveniently 14 days after signing up so cancellation not possible.
    No service.
Then an email from them saying BT had asked them to switch, (nothing to do with me)
Gave them another week to sort it out and nothing happened so called to cancel.
Heard nothing until today when I’m sent a bill for £270!!!
Horrible company, poor service, dirty, underhanded, ripoff Britain at it’s finest.

Only signed up with you on Friday 29th March, it was agreed that I would start on 6 April only. I did not agree to change my phone line to you before that date. You have contacted plusnet to take over phone line on 11 March which I have cancelled. I agreed and want to change to you on 6th April only. Not happy with service so far.

The broadband comes and goes, very unstable but the worst thing is their customer service. I called to make a payment as the online payment method wasn’t working. I was on hold for over 40 minutes, the guy then said he would pass me to someone who could take payment from me. After being on hold for another 25 minutes, I was informed that they did not have the facility to take my payment over the phone. On another occasion I tried to call them and was waiting for an hour an a half with it saying I was second, then first in the queue. At an hour and a half the call ended without me even getting to speak to anyone

Phoned Origin 3 times, waiting on the line for answer up to 35 minutes! to be told I need to wait for a technician to be in my area!! Raging, terrible on every level

The best thing about Origin is that they respond quickly to emails and chat. And, they have thinking human beings who respond, who talk to you as human beings, rather than throwing "polite" nonsense at you, and they solve the problems.

AVOID!! After reading the almost laughable reviews of this company I decided to cancel my subscription, it was the best decision of my life.
After cancelling my subscription I was assured it would take 10 days to be refunded, it's now been a month and the payment has still not be processed!! Customer service where incapable of even sending me a confirmation email to let me know they had asked finance to process it.
Origin admitted to me they are currently overwhelmed with the amount of customers they are getting, and they're playing catch up.

After seeing a great deal for Origin Broadband at '£17.99 with no hidden costs' i got this broadband for my new flat, but after four months i switched to another provider due to the constant disconnections, slow speed and disgraceful customer service.

The 'no hidden costs', which they claim on the website is not entirely true as during my second payment i was charged £40.99, once i looked into the fine print, the £17.99 was only for switching, something that was hidden in my view.

The Internet suffered from disconnections every week, sometimes several times a week, with no Internet for periods of 10 minutes to a few hours to overnight. When the Internet was connected the speed was good, but on occasion it could be quite slow and frustrating.

I called to make complaints on four occasions, on all occasions no help was given as to resolve the disconnection issue. Later i discovered my complaints were not recorded and dismissed.

After reaching breaking point i sent an official complaint to their complaints department mentioning that i was cancelling their service as i believed they had breached their contract with me. After this i switched to Sky and have had zero issues in the past four months.

9-10 weeks after sending the official complaint i got a call from Origin saying they had just read my complaint. They then said that i breached the contract and that i never contacted them. They then claimed i did not let them resolve my issues. Keep in mind that it took them 9-10 to respond to my complaint. After talking to them on the phone they threatened me with debt collectors, and i refused to pay any further fees to them. Now i have a case going against them with the Ombudsman, and have reported them to OFCOM. Right now i am happy paying more with Sky as i receive a good consistent broadband connection, with good customer service

Three months after cancelling my direct debit to Origin i saw that money had been taken out my account. After investigating i found that they set up another direct debit without my knowledge and therefore took money out my account without my consent. I again cancelled this direct debit, but am afraid they will start it again.

So for a whole year I haven't had a great broadband reach or speed. That I can cope with, what I can't cope with is. Taking money out of my account when I have credit. 3 times now this has happened. So if you ever expect origin to honour any credits they may give you for whatever reason you'll be very disappointed! I will be changing provider as soon as I can

When I joined Origin, in October 2016, they were the best ISP I had ever dealt with, and one of the best companies at all I had ever done business with. That's because their offer was reasonable and clear, and there were no surprises afterwards. Most importantly, whenever I had a question, I could immediately get in touch with a knowledgeable person, either by email or chat, who would give sensible answers to all questions and solve all problems (which were rather trivial).

A month ago, in March of 2017, when I wanted to look at my account online, I discovered that Origin had turned into one of the worst companies I have ever done business with. I couldn't log into my account (and so couldn't see my bill, which included charges for phone calls), and when I asked to have a new password emailed the website said this had been done (I tried several times), but nothing arrived in my inbox (or spam).

When I tried to contact Origin they would neither respond to emails nor on their chat. When I called I got to talk to people who told me they would have this fixed, and an email sent to me so I could access my account again, but this never happened, even though I called at least three times.

Something very bad has happened to Origin, although I have no idea what, or why ...

I was promised 11mbps for £17.99 a month which was ok for a single guy thats two months now highest its been is 6mbps today was 4.28mbps. I feel duped and silly but what can i do its depressing as they said its within their estimates so can't raise slow connection issues. Avoid You will be lied to lots of drops in service too.

I've been with Origin since April 2017. I joined as they were providing the best deal on uSwitch at the time. Previously I had been with Sky and with BT before them.

I had been getting around 8MB/s with Sky and BT (800kbps was the real speed) and only had connection issues once or twice. Origin on the other hand I receive between 4 and 6MB/s (real speed 400kbps to 600kbps) however this is sporadic at best. Usually of an evening it drops down to 1 or 2MB/s which is useless if more than one person is using the net.

Then there are the connection problems of which I must have 2 or 3 a week. No idea why it is so bad. I've had to call them a couple of times to deal with the connection problem. Which leads me on to customer service.

The people I have spoken to have been nice enough and managed to tell me what the problem was before going on to fix it. The issue I have had is the waiting times when calling them... is there only a team of 2 dealing with all calls?

All in all a very middle of the road company, not the best with much to be improved on.

This is literally the worse possible choice for broadband you could choose. They give you the cheapest possible router which can barely handle the basic functions so I had to buy my own. But problems still persist as your line will go down randomly almost every day and you'll be throttled at peak times almost every day. You'll get held prisoner with an 18 month contract which costs £200+ to break. Scam, avoid at all costs.

Since then no response by e-mail, music on hold for ever, online chat ignored. I am now going to try to cancel the order. DO NOT TAKE THE RISK OF COMMITTING TO THESE PEOPLE.

Truly shocking. I haven't had a broadband provider this bad for a very long time. On hold for over 1 hour every time I call. Even at 2:30 / 3:00 in the morning. Broadband keeps dropping, it's a problem with origins servers but they won't admit it and blame it on Phantom BT works. Only 3months in and I want to leave badly.

I am now in my third year with Origin. My experience has been mixed, I try to avoid all contact with the accounts dept as they never follow up on requests for genuine refunds. I also had slow speed and drop outs which I finally resolved myself by downloading and installing the latest firmware from Asus for the DSL-N16 router. Don't rely on the automatated update in the router software as it does not recognise the latest update (December 2018). I hope this helps others frustrated with their speed and reliability. Good luck.

DO NOT USE ORIGIN. DO NOT PAY UP FRONT. They do not even deserve one star, but I am forced to click on something. I don't even know if this review will load because speed is currently 81 Kbps. YES K!

No response to phone calls, they ignore e-mails. I have told them to improve withing ten days or I will change to a capable provider and sue them for the remainder of the contract. I expect to be suing quite soon and I hope that they don't go out of business before I enforce the debt.

I have just left Origin after one year contract. They are cheaper than most and living where I do we only have standard broadband, no cable. At first the speed seemed reasonable, but overtime it kept cutting out. The network checks where always OK. Couldn't get to the bottom of it and started to think it maybe the router and buy a better one. However, at the year of contract I nearly renewed but was confused by the agent I spoke to about the future billing and so decided to move onto another supplier getting a new router.
Although a few £s a month more since changing the broadband from Origin it has improved substantially and does not cut out to date with the new supplier. So it was something to do with the network or router.
My concern over Origin was despite moving away from them they have continued to bill for the service and it took me to contact them for a hour to get resolved. Would I use them again, maybe if the price is right and can be convinced of improved customer service

If you want your internet to not work half the time, zero customer support, a very cheap and unsuitable router, all for one cheap price, pick these boys. You will also not have internet for 2 months when you switch because they will mess up the switch over. AVOID.

P.S. Don't let your flatmate pick cheap when you both need the internet a lot.

I made a complaint as the wifi service provided is shocking. It drops out constantly and because I work at home teaching remotely it is the most frustrating thing. Constant buffering, I paid for the basic which looked reasonable but I get a max of 4mbps which is terrible. My complaint has not been responded to. I wanted to be released from my contract given that I had a service I couldn't use properly. They wanted to charge me. I am so stressed and so unhappy. I will say that the telephone team themselves are pleasant and mostly try to help. Though the consensus was "you get what you get" for some of them. Dissapointed is an understatement.

Never actually got any service from OB but did after 3 months get my money back. Complained to Ombudsman and complaint upheld but OB have not complied with the Ombudsman decision.

I have recently bought a year package for £16.99 per month and received the router the day after the switch over and then received a bill for £16.99 and then two days later another for £25 .Tried to phone but wait forever listening to music . I also cannot believe the speeds i have now got . I have a download speed of .082 mps and an upload speed of .04 mps . I cannot believe it. I cannot see how i can get out of this contract . Any advice ???

A fault was found with my broadband as I have only been receiving 0.2mps download and zero upload . I consulted Origin and went through all the technicalities with them but either intermittent broadband was achieved or none at all . Engineer appointment made over a 3 day period and nobody turned up or phoned . Got in touch with Origin again and apologies all round and appointments made for another 3 day period . Again nobody turns up but did get a phone call which was not convenient at the time so they said they would phone next day . They didn't and you guessed it nobody turned up again . Now been waiting for over 3 weeks for a better service . I appreciate they are cheap but I cannot see how they could charge more for this terrible service. I am out of contract but don't know where to go as all the reviews of other broadband providers are pretty bad .

OK... so here it is ive read reviews of other people, now i started building pcs when windows 95 was released im very tech savvy and know what im on about with speeds and service connections etc.

Now id been a virgin customer for years and there speeds are much better but there always ramping up prices and it was winding me up that iud been on moneysavingexperts site at the time and came across 'originbroadband' now i opted to pay 2 years upfront at the time i got that for just under £300 pounds all in works out at 12.50 a month in my case but its already paid and i never get any bills, now first thing i did was unplugged my actual home phone i dont use it and it started ringing before id ghiven out its number so i assumed it was sales or whatever but anyway i ONLY plug my home phone in if i want to make a phone call from it and that would be a free phone number only as i like not ever having any bills, but have a good mobile contract so my calls are done on my mobile anyway, now origin uses bt systems in actuality they all share its infrastructures and networks unless were talking cable and fibre optic, you are supplied with a free router but a cat 5 ethernet cable you want to buy a cat 6/7/8 (6) will be cheapest and fine ethernet cable (ebay?) even asda ethernet cables will be cat 5, cat 5 is terrible but any free ethernet cable you will get you can assume will be cat 5, if you hardwire your connection via ethernet your speed will be faster and more reliable and you can get 10m 20m cables and such, also buy a better microfilter to squeeze a little more juice out of that phone line again (ebay?) so all this up to 17mb jargon you here, this translated into a real typical download speed of 0.7gb per second im talking you know torrents or whatever expect to be hitting 0.7gb real download speed of these files again you get what you pay for, now if i run an actual speed test on my line it tells me my my download speed is 7gb per second so you may be thinking well why am i getting 10% of this in real terms then? well the answer is and i was clued into this by virgin media a long time ago and the respons was at that time as i was on about 20gb speed with them '20gb is your container speed and youre real actual download torrent speed would be 10% of that which was why at that time i was recvieving 2gb per second download speeds, so this is omething to remmeber we can call this clever marketing to make things sound better than what they are but in summary 20gb=2gb 50gb=5gb and so on REMEMBER THIS,now im rating this 5 starts in overall satisfaction purely as i got what i paid for it does the job i require it was cheap and thats it.
