I am STILL waiting for someone to contact me with an Openreach appointment for someone to install my new line. Customer service is non-existent. Hold time is ridiculous (over an hour) they do not respond to any Emails, tweets or complains at all. Taken £17.99 of my money and still providing nothing for me almost a month later. Stay well clear of this company, they're taking money and providing no service whatsoever. Will be reporting to Ofcom

Having experienced miserable service from other broadband providers, I am in a position to make a meaningful comparison of service providers and to provide informed comment on Origin Broadband. I have no hesitation and no reservation whatsoever in stating that I have found doing business with Origin's ultra-courteous and ultra-efficient employees an absolute delight and most refreshing. Origin's Broadband gives me not just a Very Strong strength signal but always an Excellent strength signal even though I am on WiFi. The only reason I have given Origin Broadband four stars for speed rather than the five stars that they probably merit is because I am spoilt, so to speak, by the fact that at my place of work we have superfast IT as befits a scientific establishment. I am more than happy to very highly recommend Origin Broadband to all and sundry.

Beware of this terrible company. The only reason I chose origin was because it was the fastest in my area upto 74mB ( a lie ) so I ring them to ask about the speed after 13 days and was told the fastest speed I could get in my area was 27mB. So I do a few more checks and other companies say I can get upto 27mB which is true. I went back on the origin site and dos a speed check for my area and phone number and it came back again at upto 74!!! This isn't true and is very misleading. I rang them again and eventually got through to cancelation who said I can't cancel as I'm out of the cooling off period and he became very snotty when I said from the connection date. Now I know why they take 16 days to connect you. Was told I'll have to pay the full cost of the contract, we'll see. So tried to log onto my origin account about 30 minutes later and couldn't access it at all. So cancelled my direct debit when I got home. Now will see what happens as am willing to go all the way to make sure they can't take money for miss selling a service. Either that or I'll be making a trip upto unit 9 ;-).

I changed to Origin in January with a phone and broadband package.(I live in a rural area with a broadband speed that has a max of 3mb.)
The phone changed over as stated but the broadband did not. I phoned and was informed that Open Reach would change me over at midnight but this did not happen untill the next afternoon.
Overall I am very pleased with everything.

This company is the worst I have ever had to deal with. The speeds, when/if you get service are dismal. Streaming on iPlayer is often not possible.

They messed up my signing up by not sending me a user name and password. Then promised to send a router (which didn't turn up). Then claimed Openreach was at fault (it wasn't).

If you want to speak to someone on the phone it will take on average an hour to get through. Each tech support member tells you something different, and there is no communication as to wether the problem has been fixed, what the result is etc. Call backs don't happen, so you're stuck on hold trying to get through.

They refuse to take any responsibility for their awful service and their excuse is that they are 'a growing company'.

Despite the hassle, I am leaving Origin Broadband a week into having their service, it's that bad.

    Stay away.

Over 3 weeks and still no internet, customer service is a nightmare. They've "lost" replies to emails, different members of staff told me conflicting things. Supposed to get a text and email confirmation of a date after being on the phone which never happened. Going to cancel with them as it is beyond a joke now.

Buyers beware. I had a perfectly working phone like, run by EE for the last two hours, but it transpired that Origin had trouble taking over this line. That started a two-month saga back and forth between their pedestrian customer service.

I was told an Openreach engineer would come over to verify that I indeed had working line. He, to my face, confirmed that I did (obviously as I was being serviced by EE) but that he had been requested to change the line/phone number at the cabinet. This all happened without my permission.

Not only was I subsequently charged for this engineer visit (when I was told that I would be refunded if the existence of the line was verified), but EE charged me for an exra month because I in effect had two lines! I had to ring them up to cancel it myself.

That means I'm about 75 quid out of pockect, and have been offered a paltry £25 credit. Terrible, terrible company.

Do not go with this company!,as soon as you sign up they take money out off you account.then I didn't hear from them just 1 email saying I'm in the system a week later I phoned them which took 1hour waiting on the phone then they said it would take another week for the router to be sent...week later no router! So I cancelled it ( anther hour on the phone) 4 weeks later still waiting for my payment they took out and when you phone them they send you to speak to someone else that doesn't answer the phone after an hour so you end up putting the phone down....

Please refer to my earlier review of 2016-12-27. Yet more problems have arisen. I've just been onto Origins new portal and glad that I did because in red letters it states that I am behind with my payments. I paid a year in advance for Broadband and a year in advance for anytime calls when I joined. There was an initial payment of £5.16 billed in January and this was taken via direct debit on February 10th and clearly shows on my bank statement as paid. This morning I spent my time trying to contact Origin via online chat (no one answered)I eventually got an answer via telephone and was told to just ignore the red letter demand and that it was "probably teething problems". I don't want to "just ignore" it. I want them to delete the demand so that I know that it's not going to get worse as red letter demands do. This company has been a pain in the neck since I joined them. I wish I hadnt.

Opened up 2 accounts on the same day 23/01/2017 for 2 properties. Then we cancelled one of them on the same day as we have decided to landline free in one property.Telephoned the same day to cancel only for wrong one to be cancelled - we found this out 7 days later. 3 weeks after our connection date still without internet. Found out today the wrong one is still connected. No refund of the cancelled contract and unable to get through on the phone. Webchat no use as i keep getting told a manager will contact me - they don't. No replies from provisioning. Don't care how cheap a service is, if there is no customer service then it is a waste of money. Going to cancel everything with them and go elsewhere....

Originally took well over 20 days to get me live on ADSL and I've been waiting 22 days to go live on fibre without ever being contacted. I've contacted them multiple times and have been told each time that they have no news on an upgrade date. I've been waiting so long that the BT website no longer says that fibre is available as it is over capacity. I waited MONTHS for it to be available and they potentially make me miss out by being so incredibly slow. Unbelievably poor service - Keep well clear

Dependent on Openreach, which is fine but they didn't seem to be able to contact Openreach to determine the problem with my service. Went almost 2 weeks with no service despite being told multiple times that it'd be online within 24 hours or they'd explain the fault. Often long wait times, although WeQ4U worked fine so didn't bug me much. Extremely cheap prices, especially if paid in advance.

I moved to Origin Broadband as it was cheaper than Sky, now i know why. The only way you can interact with them is over the phone, there is no email support and no web ticketing facility, the phone support lines have very very very long wait times. I've never actually been able to get through. I contacted them on Twitter and they send me a direct message saying they would arrange for someone to call me ASAP. I've been waiting over week so far with no phone call

The speed compared to Sky is terrible, lots of buffering and visibly slow pages load times.

If I could give them zero stars I would have.

I placed an order to transfer my phone and broadband to Origin in December 2016. According to Origin they have been providing my telephone line since January 31st. However I'm still connected to my old provider network and still paying them. Origin haven't the vaguest clue about telecommunications or customer service. They do, however, excel in one area and that is taking money. My advice would be to avoid them at all cost. Find a proper supplier.

    AVOID THIS COMPANY!
Been with Origin for just over 2 months, only chose them because they were the cheapest at the time, big mistake. It's fair to say if you buy cheap you get cheap! Got through to the sales team fairly quickly (no surprise there!) but if you need to ring customer services or technical support expect to be on hold for over an hour and a half, (I even had time to make an entire chilli con carne and wash up before my call was answered!) Anyway my Internet cut out 8 days ago, and I've been on the phone virtually every night for hours on end trying to get it resolved. To be fair to them the staff are very friendly and try to be helpful but they are not trained to a high enough level to provide useful advice, so I've been passed from pillar to post only to be told there's nothing they can do to help me until they speak to an external company. I was promised they day my internet went down that I would be contacted within 24hrs but heard nothing so I've wasted several evenings waiting on the phone to them and the problem has still not been resolved!
So I am now effectively paying for a service that I don't have with no guarantee that I will get the money refunded to me, or at least not any time soon.
This company clearly do not have the man power or the training to provide an good level of service to its customers, something which it promises to do in the terms and conditions.
Avoid at all costs, don't be tempted by the low prices it's honestly not worth the chew!

I have only been with them for a month and they are the worst for customer service.
The broadband speed and switch happened smoothly and no problem so far (touch wood).
the issue i have had is:
i paid upfront for the year but they still have taken out direct debit for the first month.
I have emailed the billing email address - no response
i have emailed the complaints form which promised 7 day response - no response.
i tried chat - it states wait time as 1 minute but theres no one there.
how can they win awards for best provider etc?
i plan to complain to the ombudsmen but i have to wait 8 weeks since i first complained. i suggest this as the best course of action for everybody who has problems because if everybody complained - then they have to take notice of us, the customer, as a collective.
They are new - and i think taking to social media and complaining through the regulatory body as the most effective course of action.

These people reach a new low in customer service. Said they want access to install the phone line. Said I already have one, why do you want access. Since then no response by e-mail, music on hold for ever, online chat ignored. I am now going to try to cancel the order. DO NOT TAKE THE RISK OF COMMITTING TO THESE PEOPLE.

Waited over a month with no communication for switch. Once that was done have found speeds to have fallen from 20mbs to 3mbs.
1hr 20 mins to speak to person who could not help. She has escalated my call and now I am on 2hrs and 40 mins and counting. Pretty shocking.

AWFUL. NEVER EXPERIENCED SUCH BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE,EVER. Absolute nightmare to deal with.
I signed up with them and they over charged me. So I tried chatting online but they never answer. Tried phoning, was put on hold for ages. Finally got through, person told me I had UNDER paid so I said I'd decided to cancel as I'd lost confidence in their ability to run a company and I'M STILL WAITING FOR MY REFUND - as they took the money AFTER I'd cancelled. They don't answer emails, they don't answer the online chat and their billing department is only open during working hours. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Switched to Origin Broadband, huge mistake. Left waiting on the telephone for ages, before then speaking to incompetent childish operators. Then switched to a different department, and waiting for ages before the line goes dead. Tried web chat but nobody responds to your messages, also tried emailing them, but again no response. Still don't have broadband, the nightmare continues. If I could have given no stars for the above I would have done so.

It's been 2 month I have Origin, it is the very worst experience with broadband I've ever had:
Started with a connection speed slower than 2G cellular, for 2 / 3 weeks. They fixed it...
And now it has been 3 times my internet connection just stops for a couple of days out of nowhere.
Been in contact with support 5 times total, more than 45m wait average, and their claim to have technical support 24/7 is a lie.
    Simply awful.

Been with origin since Dec 16, had problems ever since and wish I went with a more expensive and reliable company. Very slow Internet connection can't stream anything and if one person is using wifi, the other can't.

Recently my Internet totally cut out and after waiting over an hour on the phone I was put through to someone who said they are only trained at level 1 support and don't have the experience to help me yet. After waiting a further 20 minutes I was put through to someone else who also couldn't help me, they said they'd ring me back within 24 hours, they didn't. So after 24 hours I rang them back and was waiting for an hour again to be put on the line with the same man who was level 1 trained only, what a joke! Of course he couldn't help me so I was on hold for a further 1 hour to be told by some "level 2" that I could be waiting a few days because they need to wait for another company to tell them what's the matter with my Internet.

He explained to me that they do need more staff and they can't help as much because people aren't trained. I thought this was very unprofessional. They get plenty of money of us and they don't buy expensive Internet modems. They buy they of Amazon for around £20.

Avoid this company at all costs, you get what you pay for. It's cheap and slow and awfully rub. Once you buy with them you can't get out of the contract unless they can't fix the problem in 8 weeks. But this doesn't count for slow Internet. I'm kind of hoping they can't fix mine for 8 weeks so I can get a full refund and go with someone else.

I am on Origin Broadband on ADSL and have been since June 2016 having moved from TalkTalk, what a mistake.

I asked if I would be on their network and with an LLC connection and was told I would be, not true I was placed with Vodafone a company I would certainly not go with due to past experience of their mobiles.

The connection is unreliable with continual dropouts, slow page loading and slow speed.

I requested the CEO contact me regarding the poor service being provided by Origin and Vodafone but needless to say that was unanswered.

I am looking forward to June and ditching them at the first opportunity and would advise anyone considering Origin Broadband to avoid avoid and go with another ISP or regret it. Cheap they maybe but that is the only thing that can be said.

    Terrible service!
I joined Origin Broadband because there were good reviews above the average.
It took them 24 day to connect us during which I had to stay at home 2 times assist Origin Engineers. This is not acceptable service.

The speed is below the average and extremely unreliable. The router doesn't work anywhere but the room it sits in so if you want to have internet in your kitchen won't work.

The worse yet is the router restarts every now and then which require full reconfiguration which is about 25min every time you switch off the router or there is electricity cut or the router restart's itself.

I am seriously thinking of loosing the money until the rest of my contract and going to a different provider.

I have no issue with the broadband whatsoever. It's reliable and fast enough to stream tv and videos while still offering internet to everyone else in the house. I bought the upfront annual plan but there is now an issue with them trying to bill me for additional costs. I am certain it is an admin error on their part but I just cannot get through to their customer service team to sort it out. I've spent in excess of 5 hours trying to get through to them. It's very frustrating and makes you wonder what sort of employer they are (under resourced?).

It's a shame because it is so refreshing to have really good internet backed up by a UK based call centre.

Origin have clearly expanded too fast are unable to provide a basic service. 17 days after switching over I am yet to be connected and so have been without broadband for almost 3 weeks. I have phoned around 12-14 times spending in excess of 10 hours on hold to them. Unfortunalty I paid up front for the year- £172.49 and they refused to let me cancel a week in stating they had '8 weeks' to fix he issue.

Although the basic service is fine, they have no customer service whatsoever, not even bothering to reply to online chats or email, let alone answering the phone.

Having attempted to switch broadband from Sky to Origin Broadband using your website, Origin took payment of £17.99 then failed to send out a Router, I complained to them and eventually cancelled the order due to poor customer service. They have failed to issue a refund within the second time frame given, when i called up today the male on the phone who refused to give his name, then put the phone down on me.

    Very poor wont again.

3 days ago i was on plusnet standard ADSL with 22mbps down and 1mbps up.

Origin router arrived half way through the day of activation and took all night to boot up!

After about 5 resets of the router to get it to sync, it finally did and now the speeds are 1mbps down and 0.03mbps up!!! Ping is 600ms. The limited up starves the download so i effectivly have dial up internet. Tech support takes 30 mins to get through if you don't get cut off.

3 days and no internet. This is unacceptable. Going straight back to plusnet.

I've had origin broadband for about 4 months now. My initial experience was terrible and I had no broadband for over a month, this was partly the fault of BT (openreach) and partly the fault of origin. They clearly need better training of staff to deal with faults and a lot more people to answer calls. In my view a lot of the issues are to do with the routers they send out, they sent me two, neither worked, I ended up using my old one from my previous ISP. This worked but as others have pointed out the line kept dropping. I eventually got a working router from origin and this did improve things and I have had no line drops now. I actually changed the settings in the router to protorise stability of the line over performance. My origin line is on the Vodafone network and I suspect the issues others are having with line drops are related to Miss configured routers (Vodafone use different default settings to most ISPs). If you are experiencing line drops I would advise you to phone origin and check your router settings. I would also advise origin to fix the issues they are having with routers being sent out dead and invest in a proper router with fixed firmware and roll out updates and fixes remotely like all other ISPs. It's a shame and they seems to have a lot of trouble getting people connected but once you are connected and correctly set up it seems fine. The price is great if you just want basic adsl, I would be happy to pay an extra £1 a month to fix the issues I have had. They are still cheaper then the standard rate of all other ISPs and I hate switching it's too much hassle.

I placed my order with Origin at the start of January after being let down by BT. Big mistake. Still haven't received my box and can't get hold of anybody to find out why. They've taken my money though! Terrible service. Will be doing all I can to cancel and get my money back.
