We switched to TalkTalk and were guaranteed by the salesperson that we would never get less than 2Mb speed. To start with speeds were around 3.5 Mb, which was fine. Now, as with EVERY OTHER broadband service I've ever subscribed to, speeds have gradually dropped and dropped over the last 12 months. Now I'm regularly getting less than 0.5 Mb during the day. It's an absolute disgrace..and you know that if you ring up and complain, they will make you jump through hoops, checking a dozen technical things in your home, when you KNOW the problem lies with them and their policy of throttling back broadband speeds and giving priority to customers who pay more. It's blackmail really..pay more or be one of the mugs who gets slower speeds.

Lost internet connection ISP end. phoned customer service. 'overseas' helper didn't have a clue, reading off a trouble shooter list. Claimed my router was incompatable (the one thats been working fine for years). Told me to get a Talk Talk branded one before they could offer anymore support. Internet resumes after 1.5 weeks of own accord (engineering works finished or something). Emailed to complain about service (lack of customer/internet service)compensation. Gave me £3 as they only calculated the time since I emailed them to complain, and not since I phoned/or actual time of loss of service.

Just had a phone cal from TT to 'review' my contract. Soon became apparent that "are you happy with the service" means "do you want to enter into a new, 24 month contract without actually being asked a direct question?"

I asked for e-mail of offer, Ts & Cs etc. Couldn't be done. I wasn't content to agree first and see what I had agreed to afterwards, or to root around TT's website trying to guess which package I was being offered.

Went round the houses several times. When threatened with being put onto monthly terms, I retaliated by threatening to look for another provider. Suddenly, I could have the offer by e-mail. Hasn't arrived yet, and I'm inclined to look elsewhere anyway, given the underhand way in which TT tried to get me to stay.
