Splitter for modem

I am using a NETGEAR adsl2 dm111psp modem. Where the ethernet cable goes into the modem is it possible to get an adaptor/splitter so that I can connect a second PC? Friends say that it cant be done but I though I would check with the experts.

In order to share your Internet connection with more than one PC, you'll need a router with multiple ethernet ports. Many routers also behave as an ADSL2 modem, so you should be able to replace your modem with an equivelent router.
