I would like to go wireless but am confused. All the diagrams and instructions seem to suggest the router is connected by Ethernet cable to the 'main' computer.
My desktop is in an upstairs room connected to the phone line by a very long and amateurly installed phone extension to the main socket in the kitchen. What I would like to do is connect the router to the main socket (so not using long poor extension) and pick up the signal on my desktop upstairs and throughout the house on my laptopT4R. Is this possible or does the router have to be connected via the ethernet cable? Confused Peter |

Well you have to connect your computer or laptop to the wireless router to start with to configure it via the web but after that you can disconnect it and connect via your wireless devices where e ver you can hope this helps.

i currently have a standard ADSL2 wired modem which i am connecting to my laptop. i am looking into buying a wireless modem, however i heard that the ethernet cable needs to be plugged into another PC,at all times in order for it to work
Im just wondering if this is true, or if i just need another PC to configure the settings, then once this is done, unplug ethernet and modem will work fine without being plugged into another computer? thanks... |
