Question Sky Broadband loses Wireless Signal and Only 1 Device!

Hi Just wondered if anyone could help on my issues:

1) I have had Sky Broadband for 18 months, but over the last 5 months I keep losing the Wireless signal completely, just for a few seconds and then it resets coming back as Excellent. The length of time the signal remains varies from hours to seconds. This is even if the PC is sat next to the router. I have checked all other Wireless signals my PC picks up, moved them to the excluded list and also ensured I am not using the same Channel number as these to see if that helps but it hasn't really made a huge difference. Oh, it's a NetGear Router with four ports. When connected through the port broadband is as fast as I would need.
Should I upgrade the Router? Is there anything the PC is doing that could be the issue?

2) I can only connect one device (the laptop I had orgignally) - I have tried four different laptops of friends and work since but they never get past authenticating. Any ideas? For work I have to connect to the port which is okay but restrictive.

Thanks in advance for the help and advice!

1) If you're able to, check whether there's a newer version of the router's firmware you can upgrade to.

2) Is it possible that your wireless network is set to filter by MAC address? That might explain why you can't connect with other devices.

I had the same problems with my netgear router after about 3 years. got onto sky went through all their diagnosing on the phone Nothing. then they sent me a new sagem router which i connected and worked fine for 2 months and the same thing happened again siganl cutting out every so often as mentioned in the initial thread. Got onto sky last night now there trying to tell me it could be my computer, i think NOT when every wireless device in my house has stopped working at the same time and work with other wireless clients such as openzone or friends networks. Sky offered to give me a new router this time but if the problems persist they said they would not replace the router again. To which i swiftly replied i would move my broadband to a service that worked.

So my guess is that it is the router

hope this helps
