Netgear Usb Wireless

Hi
I have a netgear Router works fine on my laptop but then I have a desctop with a netgear usb wireless connecter, the only way I can get it to work on my desktop is by disconnecting and then connecting again it seems a bit of a long way round sure it is something I have done when i set it up but have not got a clue any help I would be more than grateful Thank You
