They must be the worst provider, call centre staff after 'normal' working hours can't fix your broadband problem - they usually end up telling you "it must be your laptop!!"
One Virgin engineer connected someone across the street, disconnecting us for 3 days in the process. We moved house talking Virgin with us, installed cable etc everything working fine, they left 1/2 hour later everything down, stayed that way for another 3 days, even after speaking to over six different people. In less than seven days our broadband & phone has been off twice for over 12 hours each time, the last time was yesterday at 8.30 a.m. Internet back at 8.30 today; phone line still off. But the good news, finally spoke to the most 'sensible' person ever this weekend; and am now on my 30 day notice without having to pay the 'penalty' for ending my contract. Can't wait!! |

I must say I agree with most of the posts on here, Virgin Media do suck. I was with them for almost 6 years, from when they were NTL. Started with a 1mb line, which eventually got increased to 2mb, then 4mb and then finally 10mb. I changed my package a few times, once to 20mb and then eventually to 50mb. The 50mb broadband really is a rip off as the maximum speed I ever recorded was 37.2mb. A lot less than 50mb as stated. I've now moved into a new property and was pushed from pillar to post for 4-5 weeks with them. Firstly my new property is a non cable area and wont have cables put in for at least the next 5 years, they offered to supply me via a BT line and I thought ok least I still have some access once I move, it took them 3 weeks to tell me that they had cancelled the order because the adsl speed was "inadequate". I can only imagine they said this as BT have told me the maximum speed I can receive via a BT line is 512kb broadband? ha what a joke. Bt tried getting me to place the order for the line install and services after telling me thats the maximum speed I can get. I have no idea why the speed is so slow where I am living, but they can go get ******* if they think I am paying for 20mb broadband when I wont even get 1mb speed!
In short it seems I have drawn the short straw at my new address, the only option I really have is mobile broadband which is limited to 5gb downloads/uploads a month. |

See I'm getting 50MB from virgin, it's not throttled, it's a little expensive but I'm paying for the service, and I'm happy with my speeds!
Customer services and technical support are a little uneducated but they still gave me a new router free of charge when my other one packed itself in! They occasionally try and sell me some TV packages, but I'm sticking to SKY HD for that one! (As the TV packages are expensive!) As for the broadband, i've never once been able to complain about the speed/service! 50MB ISNT THROTTLED! Virgin Media Broadband:Traffic management - & Traffic management Stop whining and fix your PC's those are the problems! :-) |

Beware if you move house and transfer from a fibre optic area to a copper 'National' area. These are effectively separate businesses using the Virgin brand. Your blueyonder email service will be cut off without warning and you will lose everything that was on it. I am not going to make the same mistake on the virginmedia email service: better to use gmail. The new copper phoneline/ broadband connection is terrible. We get crossed-line noises, other dial tones etc. Makes me wonder whether the BT Openreach guys who make the connections apply a bit of sabotage if they know the connection is for Virgin rather than BT.

I think you get good and bad in all providers. I didn't have a landline in by old flat at all simply because BT couldn't get it working, even though there were phone lines working in the property previously. After 3 months they just gave up.
My priority is broadband right now and I can't wait to sign up for Cable - its the closest way of getting the speed that you are paying for. No other provider comes as close to their advertised speed as much as cable dows and this had been proven time and again. I think Virgin (Telewest and NTL) have come from a history of poor reputation, deserved or not, and it's taking a long time to turn things around but I'm sure they're getting there. It reminds me a bit of the mobile network Three. They suffer from having a terrible reputation for ugly handsets and dumb customer service but are now turning things around. |

I've been customer for a long time and I have recently moved house. This is where all the problems started. It seems like everytime there's a virgin engineer outside in the street one of my services goes down. At first it was the broadband(had to wait 5 days for them to fix that) then the TV and now the phone line dead. On the day it went down guess what, yep a virgin engineer in the street. Seriously thinking of going to sky when contract finishes.

I grow tired of being robbed by Virgin television, they keep adding HD channels (that I don't want) and removing channels to make room.
I subscribed to the extra large package to get TV choice on demand that never gets updated. The same seasons of Dr who, Torchwood and Red Dwarf have been showing for two years without showing any other season. Don't go anywhere though, because the last time I did they removed shows I had watched from the start immediately after the last episode is shown. Thank you Virgin for stealing channels from me like history + 1 to make room for HD channels that I'll never watch. Could you at least let me read the information on the channel if I haven’t subscribed? I'm sick to death of searching for a none HD channel just to read the f****** info. On the Internet stop showing me commercials when I click to see movie trailer, F***! Don't you make money as it is from the f****** trailer? Do you have to show me s*** I don't want to watch just to make a little bit more money you greedy B*******? If I want to read my email, logging out takes too god dam long due to your ****py page being so full of s***! What about areas that don't have broadband. I used to live in a flat and the broadband service was extremely expensive with the slowest f****** connection in history! I thought it was called broadband because the cable has a broad wire. How can virgin call it broadband when it is going through a piece of s*** BT wire? Virgin Media doesn't just such it Sucks 100% |
