Default O2 and Exchange distance

Hi

I need some advice please...

Just thinking about swapping BB from BT to O2. Now I know my exchange [Honley] is unbundled O2 but O2 say that my BT line is 7km long!!!!! even tho my house is only 3/4m from the exchange. I appreciate that cables don't go in a straight line but this sounds a long way and O2 have turned me down. BT say they can't tell me how long the line is so I seem to be stuck...

Is there anyway I can get this clarified please or will I have to stick with BT?

Cheers

Nick

Further to my post above - I have just checked some my neighbours phone numbers and they are getting anywhere between 11 and 19Meg quoted by O2 BB checker!!!!!

Is it possible I have a recycled number and the BT database isn't up to date...???? If so, how do I get this verified???

Cheers

Nick

Hi Nick,

From your description it seems likely that your number's location hasn't been updated in the BT database.

I'd suggest that you contact BT and ask them to log a job with BT Wholesale to check their database is up to date for that number.

Good luck!

Well I am now on O2 Broadband and wow what a difference - 6.5Mb download !!!!!!! Well its fast for me as BT I have found out since were churning out a measly 0.25 Mb - BT have been most unhelpful [apart from giving me my MAC code] and so glad to be out of BT's clutches!!!

Thanks for the help and sooo glad to be on O2 now!!!

Cheers
