Default Cable Alternative

Where I live, I have a choice: Virgin or 2mb ADSL.

Has anyone heard anything about any alternative cable companies that may be starting up so I can leave the red devil behind?

Hi There

Virgin broadband own the cable network, so you won't be seeing any other suppliers come available via their cable network. It's incredibly unlikely that any other company is going to install their own cable. Sorry, but thing for the moment you don't have many other options.

Thanks

If anyone is thinking about getting virgin media, then i'd consider both the positives and negatives...
Im with Virgin at home, i've been on their 10mbps service and im now on their 50mbps service....

10MB was good when i lived on my own, but now i house share with 4 other people so the 50mb was essential for me!

10MB was spot on for online gaming, it's not too expensive, it never lagged for me... didnt have a single fault!!

50MB is absolutely F****** fantastic!!! It's NOT throttled, my download speeds for files/games/music/video are very rarely less than 2mbps the highest download speed i've had on a single file was 9mbps... which was extreme lol
Thats at the same time as hosting my own 3D MMORPG with around 150-200 constant connections... and obviously 4 other users online...
Bad bit, it's expensive!! ¬¬ but when your house sharing, they tend to chip in :-) So im a happy happy man being with virgin!

ONLY problem i've ever had is my router broke itself... just decided it would no longer power on, i phoned virgin, they brought me a new one out 2 days later...

So for me!!! I love them, they cover all my needs, but everyone has bad experiences with every company at some point! ><
