Almost certainly the best option would be to sign up for a local provider once you get to Turkey - mobile broadband is usually extremely expensive when 'roaming' in foreign countries, even the best roaming deals from UK providers only give a tiny usage allowance and charge extremely high rates outside of that allowance.

For example, Vodafone charges £8.50 per day for roaming overseas but with a 'fair usage' allowance of only 50MB and a charge of £4.25 per MB outside that allowance - that's £4352 per GB! By comparison, in the UK this would be a 3GB or 5GB usage allowance then £15 per GB outside of allowance.

We are travelling to the UK from USA, and spending less than a month there, with multiple addresses. We'd like to get short term mobile broadband service. All the short term packages we see advertised indicate they'll mail the dongle to you. Any place in London [first stop on the itinerary] where we can pick up the hardware and sign up for limited air time?

Default Speeds

[I have mobile broadband via an Orange dongle. The signal reading is "excellent" but the speed is painfully slow. On checking it was 44 kbps for downloads and 21 kbps for uploads. Does anyone have any ideas as to why this should be?
