Whats wrong with my Broadband
I have been with Tiscali/Talk Talk for many years but over the last year or so I have been experiencing problems with my broadband connection. I am using a Cisco 1760 router with an ADSL WIC Card (No Wifi) and when my connection works I get approx 5Mbs Upload Speed and 448 Kbs download speed, now this is more than adequate for my use and it will work OK like this for many weeks then all of a sudden the Download speed will drop down to approx 2Mbs and the Upload speed will drop to 32 Kbs. The connection will stay at the slow speed for a few weeks then all of a sudden it will go back up to the normal 5Mbs/448Kbs speeds and stay like that for 4 or 5 weeks then again it will drop down to the slower speed. I have tried changing routers cables, filters, you name it I've changed it. The most frustrating part of this is trying to explain to a woman in Mumbi what the fault is as they seem to think that 32Kbs is perfectly acceptable and say that they will send an engineer to my house but if they do not find a fault then they will charge me. As far as I can tell this seems to be a line fault so changing ISP's will not actually acheive antything except cost a lot of money time and probably grief. Can anyone suggest how I go about progressing this fault because its getting to be a bit of a joke now, I could accept the 2Mbs Download speeds but the 32 Kbs Upload speed is actually killing the line (not enough bandwidth for the packet acknowledgements) which means I cannot even view the video clips on the BBC News site.
