Question Download Limit For Gaming

Hi, anybody know how many GB per hour Xbox gaming uses. I only need to know approx so i can get the correct download limit.
IE BT say 60 hours web surfing = 1.5 GB. But what about gaming????

Any ideas would be great.

Data usage varies greatly with how the game's communicating with the servers. If you're streaming new textures and video content it'll be using considerably more data than if you're simply communicating your movements and receiving others' movements around a pre-defined level with all the models and textures already stored locally on the game disc.

I would imagine that the majority of console games are designed to work efficiently with levels off disc or downloaded to hard disk. So wouldn't be using huge amounts of data, probably roughly equivalent to web browsing, perhaps a little higher.

I'd say the majority of the data usage from XBox Live would be voice communication using headset and downloading new content such as games, levels, demos, videos and so on. If you're planning to use these features, you should consider a higher usage allowance.

As a rough figure, I'd recommend at least 10GB for online gaming alone (plus ordinary web browsing use) and 20GB for online gaming with headset communications and new content downloads. For the best answer you'll want to find an XBox Live forum and ask people with metered data how much their gaming uses in a month.

It's also worth noting that most ISPs won't penalise you if you decide to upgrade to a more expensive package having signed up for a more conservative deal and found you're hitting usage limits.

I hope this helps.

I agree with Admin the Administrator lol, You won't need more than 40GB a month, 40 would easily cover you for a solid 8 hours of gaming a day, and your regular computer usage plus maybe a large video download every couple of days :-)
