Hi Ria

I've done a postcode search and based on your criteria :

- 7 Users - so you need lots of bandwidth
- No phone, broadband only

Then your best option is Virgin Media. There are deals that offer up to 20Mbps and which come with a wireless cable modem and it doesn't require that you take a phone line. All other fixed line broadband suppliers will require you to have an active BT phone line.

You could get Virgin Broadband Size XL which would give you a wireless router and 20Mbps download speeds for £26 per month

Strangely if you took the same deal but included a phone line with the Virgin Broadband Size XL plus phone it would cost only £10 for the first 3 months and £20 per month afterwards.. however if someone spends a fortune on premium rate lines then you are all liable for the bill!

I hope this helps, if you have any other questions just ask!

From that deal it almost looks like it's worth getting the landline & just not using it!
One thing I would say about getting Virgin is that you may need to check with your landlord that he's ok with you having cable installed.

Hi Gaz

Well if you don't want a phone line then your only option for fixed line is Virgin Media Cable.

Luckily you will be in a Virgin Media Cable area so you can easily sign up, if you look at my first post in this thread you will see links to the various options.

Every other broadband provider in your area will require you to have a working BT phone line before they will supply broadband. Virgin use their own lines so this is why you don't need a BT line with them.

Hope this helps, any other questions then just ask!

You say you don't want a land line but if you're going to be going with Virgin anyway, that deal highlighted by Admin further up the page might still be worth a look. *shrug*

I am a student and i have gone for Virgin Media XL 20mb service. I will be living just up the road from you at BN1 7ET. I got a 'free' telephone line with free evening and weekend calls, all for £21 per month (for first 6 months, then £31) There are 6 of us and again we didnt need a telephone line. But hey free evening and weekend calls could come in useful.

My broadband is going to be installed on the 16 sept, however I have heard awful things about virgin broadband and am tempted to cancel. With speeds never reaching the promised amount.

I am a very heavy download user so i am also concered about there legislations regarding p2p networks and throttling at certain times of the day.
