It depends on what your criteria is, bullet proof at any cost? Price an issue? How many people will be using the connection?

All I know about Griffin is that they are pretty small in broadband provision terms, that might be good or bad depending on how you look at it!

Unhappy Re: Welcome to Which business broadband supplier?

I know that their network is constantly congested and customers aren't happy.
Also it appears as though the network falls over on a regular basis

Hi,
I own a small printing company and had a BT Business Broadband connection.
I was under the impression that I would get 8mb for my £20 per month but was only getting 2.1mb. BT advised me it is because there are (apparently) various factors which affect the end speed; including distance from the exchange & other users online which I didn’t realise were an issue.
I’ve just had my broadband replaced by a “BTNet” which my Local Business Manager sorted out for me. I’m not at all techy but as far as I understand it I now have a private internet connection instead of sharing one. The other benefits (I am told) are far better resilience, a continuous fixed speed, far faster upload speed and it is “managed” which apparently means it doesn’t ever go wrong.
Don’t get me wrong – the price was a lot more that broadband @ £340 per month but the speed & service is fantastic – literally a 1000 times faster. Was well worth looking at.
If you are a business or a big bandwidth user I seriously recommend speaking to my business manager (chris.horrill@btlocalbusiness.co.uk). Great guy who can tailor make a deal for you – he probably gets commission anyway!
Cheers,
Mike

I used to work for BT and sell their internet lease lines that Mike refers to.

I now have no love for BT, but their BTnet (internet lease line) is best of breed.
With any internet lease line you throw off the limitations of an ADSL (broadband) and get true performance for your money.
Yes it cost 10 times as much as broadband, but you get 100 times the performance.
You can compare the speeds a 24Mb broadband will still be slower than a 2Mb lease line.
I am not going to bore you with why, but a more important benefit having an Internet lease line gives is reliability. You broadband may work now but it’s a commodity product, and fixes are best endeavours by ISP's. Broadband is now an essential part of any businesses communication with their customers.
As soon as a fault occurs you stand to lose money, not just for companies that you trade on line, but every business. Without an internet connection you can't reply to customer emails, take orders from your website and if you hosting your own website then that disappears! and customer could think you have stopped trading and try a competitor!

With an Internet leased line you will have a robust SLA. Service Level Agreement and if it's a BTnet then you get 24/7, 365 cover and a 4 hour response to fix it. In November 2009 they were running at a 2hr fix nationally. Its part of what you’re paying for.
Yes it cost around £5k+ per year, but what is the cost of one day’s loss of business?

Hi all, just joined today, and wanted to let you all know that my company can provide solutions for High Speed Business Broadband Connectivity, we spe******e in SDSL, Leased Line and Bonded ADSL.

We are a Wireless Interenet Service Provider (WISP), located in the South East, becuase we control our own complete network, we have NO reliance on any third party infrastrcuture like BT's exchanges, cabling etc .

Although we are continuially expanding our coverage area, we are at the moment restricted as far as Northamptonshire. See more details on our website com8.org.uk

Basically with Communic8 you get the speeds you pay for, noe of this 'upto' speeds, we don't limit your data, provide a symmetrical connections for SDSL and Leased Line installations, they also come with VoIP.

At present we operate at a 99.95% SLA (Service Level Agreement), which you should find is far superior to most other ISP's out there at the moment.

UNFORTUNATELY, our connections are best suited for Businesses, for which we are competively priced, however although we do provide some residential installation, these customers pay a premium on the typical £9.99 or so that is availble for the residentail market.

However for these clients Reliability, Service and Speeds are essential as some may run small business from home, for which Internet Access is Essential.

Appologies if this was little long winded and any typo's, as I said I don't do a lot of forums.

Hopefully this info will be of interest, if you need any more info, visit the website or email me.

Hope to hear from you all.

Thanks
Nick
