I too have been with AOL a long time - since I first went online in fact. I think their service has deteriorated beyond all recognition to what it was originally.

I can no longer access the internet through the AOL homepage, it keeps telling me it's not possible and if I do manage to get on I get booted off again immediately. However - because I am on broadband - I solved the problem by clicking on Internet Explorer and accessing it immediately. I no longer have AOL on my desktop - I deleted the programme and threw the discs away - but am still able to access the internet through my AOL connection. I did query this with the local Car Phone shop and they said it was fine to do it this way. Hope this helps.

If this works for you and you need the AOL homepage you can always make it your default page through the proterties menu of IE. I can still pick up my e-mails from AOL - through their home page - but without all the frustration of having to sign on through them. I am less than impressed with the way AOL works since Car Phone have taken them over.

Have read with interest the threads re alternative suppliers and may investigate Plusnet further - thanks for the advice and help.

I have been with AOL for 8 years now, i do love the whole front page of AOL the way everything is there in front of you your email and buddie list ect, but the only problem i have with AOL is when you call up for anything its very hard to get to talk to someone british its always in india which i have problems with because im misunderstood or i cant get my point across they dont understand what im trying to say, and i do try to talk nice english even though im scottish but still a lanuage problem. so needing to upgrade to wireless is such a thought, then if your lucky to get through to a brit its a irish man or woman now im not trying tobe rude but i think im one of those people who just have a problem understanding what people are saying and as much as i love the irish it can again be very hard to understand them as the ones you get on the phone are very strong irish..so thats my only big problem with AOL the communication ..and please dont think im saying anything bad against the indians or irish just please AOL can we have more english talking reps.
