Wink Re: Rate AOL

I too have been with AOL a long time - since I first went online in fact. I think their service has deteriorated beyond all recognition to what it was originally.

I can no longer access the internet through the AOL homepage, it keeps telling me it's not possible and if I do manage to get on I get booted off again immediately. However - because I am on broadband - I solved the problem by clicking on Internet Explorer and accessing it immediately. I no longer have AOL on my desktop - I deleted the programme and threw the discs away - but am still able to access the internet through my AOL connection. I did query this with the local Car Phone shop and they said it was fine to do it this way. Hope this helps.

If this works for you and you need the AOL homepage you can always make it your default page through the proterties menu of IE. I can still pick up my e-mails from AOL - through their home page - but without all the frustration of having to sign on through them. I am less than impressed with the way AOL works since Car Phone have taken them over.

Have read with interest the threads re alternative suppliers and may investigate Plusnet further - thanks for the advice and help.
