I have been with the PO for a number of years and they have had their moments. But it is cheaper than most and you get what you pay for. Some of the reviews seem exaggerated to me people just following the flow. The essentials package does what it says on the tin and provides quite a good service taken overall I would say the service is acceptable there are probably better but you pay a lot more for them.

I am a post office colleague and I am on this bad broadband for last 4 years. The broadband speed is always very low. Due to the staff discount I was kept quiet and recently the network was very poor and couldn't able to watch a TV program even. Contacted the post office technical support team and the customer service was rubbish. The lady who spoken to me has to get some Customer service training. She wasn't ready to tell her name either. Lodged a complaint and no one contacted me yet.
Regarding the broadband they have asked us to do the many internal checks and we done everything. Every single time you call them They don't want to log in your account and see the notes and ask you to tell everything from the beginning (including they even ask you to do the internal checks without knowing why we are calling them this time)
Finally asked us to do the network speed test via their recommended website. Website says 2.1MBS only we gets and submitted. But CA keep in saying you are getting 4.76mbs and then I really don't know why they want us to do the speed check. When I was explaining to the CA he said they can do nothing about it and they can send an engineer but if any internal faults we have to pay £144. Ridiculous!
Now I have cancelled it and switched to an other network.
I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND TO ANYONE!

Absolutely awful worst broadband I have ever had, even the old dial up system was better than these.
The modems are complete rubbish the technical support isn't told me I needed a new printer, spent £80 on a new one and still didn't work properly.
Avoid at all costs, I'm stuck with them for another 16 months

The Post Office Telecoms has got to be the worst company I have ever had dealings with. DO NOT GET INVOLVED WITH THEM AT ANY COST. They are totally incompetent.
Mid Wales Post Office
Don't sign-up with this lot: their modems are poor quality and unreliable; their customer services is non-existent and they are totally incompetent into the bargain. I did without broadband altogether for most of last year and the promises I got from the Post Office for customer services to contact me; engineers to call etc never materialised. It took me hours of hanging on phones which aren't ever answered promptly and writing e-mails which often weren't answered at all before I was able to diagnose the problem myself: the original modem I was provided had given up the ghost and a replacement one didn't work. Six months at least without a service but they still took my money. I have gone to the Ombudsman about this but they are not much better although I have got at least a fraction of the money I paid for a non-existent `service' refunded as a result: the Post Office would have refunded me precisely nothing...

Disgraceful service all round after 6 month with probably 50 calls and 3 modems I could not connect continually for a full day sometimes dropping out up to 50 times a day.. Customer services are polite and try to help but the “expert” technicians I talked to were rude and unbelievably ignorant, asking me to” borrow someone else’s computer to test my system” after my two Ethernet connected PC failed to stay connected. I build PCs and have experience with modems ect although unix types.
They cannot get bill right and demand money that you don’t owe with “well just pay it and we will refund you next time. AVOID AT ALL COST. Half star for they polite customer services None for anything else

I have been with Post Office for a number of years but have to say the broadband service dreadful.
Each time I have no service I am told it is internal. The last time we had no phone for several days. The engineer called after I said I would pay the money to get it fixed.
All the sockets were opened up, the engineer was in the loft checking things out. I often wonder if these people go into their own homes with the large boots on and traipse all over the place.
Eventually, he decided it must be in the local exchange and he could be gone for quite some time. After a few hours he returned to tell me
the fault was in exchange which had been upgraded just recently and some engineer had let a piece of wire or metal drop into our connection causing the fault!!!!!!
After this time when I rang they want to get engineer to call and check the house again!!!! Why not start at the exchange where the previous fault was detected.

I am looking for another provider as Post Office is just the pits.

I have not marked ANY stars as the Post Office does not score any.
I`m over halfway through my 18 month contract and the broadband still has not been sorted out. The story is too long to recount here, just suffice it to say: "Please do not sign up with the Post Office".
P.S. I can`t remove the last star!

Don't ever have circumstances where you end up in arrears. Pay off most of your bill and they'll suddenly cut off your broadband without warning, then when you pay the last sliver of the bill, you won't see anything of your service for "up to 5 working days".
Fat lot of help when they can switch your net off at the drop of a hat, but it'll be a week before you get it back.
At 21 quid a month, I don't think I'll be keeping this service. The download speeds are dreadful - a small Xbox live game takes hours to download, and you can't do anything else whilst doing so...
Overall, I'd give lower scores, but decided to be generous.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!! EVERY day I have trouble connecting to Internet. I have been on this supplier for over a year and wish I could afford to pay to dump it. My connection date came and went. After many calls to helpline and testing my line. Also me having to unscrew a socket which should not be expected of customers. I am disabled and found it quite difficult to get socket off. After a week an engineer was sent out and problem was a cable supplied with router! Whatever you do.... get your Internet somewhere else, anywhere else!

After my husband died,I decided to get a better deal (helped by my son) so opted for post office broadband as it seemed very reasonable and also included a new phone line(can't remember the deal it was less than a tenner I'm sure) I had complained for years to my previous supplier Fuel Broadband to fix my crackly line....never any joy from them,so I ditched them and got a new line for next to nothing and unlimited broadband on a very cheap deal (including weekend calls abroad)....Having read all the reviews on here I wasn't optimistic but I have to say I'm very pleased,I can't grumble about the broadband or telephony at all,it's all been reliable and I'm able to do all that I want, including using Netflix and catch up TV without any problems!! For me it's been great....Sadly it would appear I'm the exception!!

Do not sign up to this isp. Live in rural area and was with bt, Internet wasn't too bad but didn't like the price hence my thoughts to sign up with the post office. Worst decision ever! Speed of 0.5mbps, to update a game on ps4 told me 80hrs.
Was stuck with them for a month, had to go through a series of tests on a laptop to prove how bad the speed was and they finally allowed me to cancel. However even though they let me cancel I'd still payed £80 upfront and when asked for my money back I was told I would get a £5 good will voucher. So one months Internet which didn't work cost me £75.
To top it all off I got a call from someone claiming to be tech team from the post office who told me they would fix my WiFi. That took remote access of my pc, turned out to be a scam and I was robbed of further £100. Makes me wonder if post offices servers are hacked as these people knew full well of my technical issues.
Id never sign up to them again for anything. You get what you pay for most of the time and in this case it proved to be true. Don't be tempted by there offer £20 or not, you don't want to paying for something that is useless. Please avoid.

Service is unbelievably poor. We are literally talking 100k to 300k download speeds and highly frequent timeouts on upload and download. Technical team are rude, provided misleading information and did not resolve any issues, apparently they will 'try' to submit a ticket, haven't heard back from them in weeks. DO NOT USE THE POST OFFICE FOR ANYTHING. THEY ARE A 3RD TIER RESELLER. THEY ARE RESELLING THE RESELLERS SERVICE, TalkTalk. Save yourself the hassle and spend a tiny bit more money to get a service that you won't regret engaging with. Am putting full complaint to execs of Post Office as it is a disgrace they can continue to sell services that they can not deliver and talk to their customers in a rude and aggressive manner.

Regret switching to Post Office for our broadband. Consistently bad, connection lost multiple times throughout each day and excruciatingly slow speeds. On a good day I wait 40 seconds for a page to load. Scrolling up and down each page is painful. We're locked into an 18 month contract, so we're stuck with it. Wish we'd never signed up with them. It was such a bad decision.

Okay so I was with BT and my internet was acceptable at a stable 3.5mb. Not great for broadband and costing £41 a month I felt bitter, so I joined post office at half the price.

Post office was live and my speeds were exactly the same as BT. This lasted for around a week until BT switched off their service or however it works... My speeds then dropped to 0.4mb and is now the equivalent to dial up. Pictures don't load, video takes a lifetime and then cuts out a few times so you have to restart. Online games are just not possible and I feel I have been sold a product not fit for purpose. This speed is also less than half of the lower end estimated speed of 1mb. I'm hoping because of this that I can cancel this contract without too much hassle but I may be wrong....

My 4G on my phone is far better and I wish I was exaggerating. DO NOT DO IT!

The broadband is awful. This weekend has been the worst ever. Every 10 minutes it's cutting out. I call them and it's "ok" for about a day but doesn't last. When you call all they do is a quick fix. I'm receiving 10MB and when you look at other providers that is nothing. This past week I've called 3 times. I can't wait until my contract ends in 6 weeks.
Watchdog will be contacted.
If you buy anything cheap, it's usually rubbish and won't last. So spend a little more for a better service is my advice.

My PO broadband speeds were deplorable. Tests made using the PO recommended checker gave as low as 0.1. Totally useless. I stopped the bank standing order and found an alternative provider(Which using the same checker indicates 6 to 7) I have been harnessed by PO for money £272 +, threatened with bailiffs, had blazing rows. Finally they have withdrawn all outstanding charges. They now tell me that they have learned by their mistakes. Let us hope so for the next customer who is unfortunate, as PO states, to have an incompatible line.

We were with the post office for 6 months for internet and phone. The phone we had no issues with. We had to wait a month for connection due to the engineer not bothering to turn up and then being told that despite it not being our fault we would have to wait another 2 weeks for a new appointment. The internet has been awful since we were connected - constantly dropping out on occasion for a day at a time. I would not recommend them at all, we will not be returning to them and have since signed up with another provider who so far are proving much more reliable.

This is on behalf of my mum. she has been with these people for quite a few years now. The broadband speed has been pitiful throughout. However there was a period last year (late sept. to Feb this year) that she had no internet at all. They claim their systems had been hacked and a fix had been sent out. Mum was in hospital during the time of the fix so it wasn't fixed. The bill arrived, she paid it except for the £26 broadband portion as she had had no service. She has a lifeline system in case she falls at home (she's 82), regardless, they cut off the phone because of the £26! She had also rung them and talked about it and someone was supposed to be looking into it. The more I read about them, it makes me wonder how a bunch of callous thugs like this are allowed to remain in business. Caring Britain eh?

When we joined about 4 years ago, they were very good for service and price although the speed was slow. Have been asking them to do something about the wretched service for over a year. They say there must be a fault somewhere in the physical line before it reaches our house, and I can only assume the potential expense of locating it is the reason they do not bother. The helpline people are generally snarky and aggressive and nobody will take our complaints seriously. Shortage of alternatives is the only reason we are still with them. Forced to take unwanted landline as in very rural area. Internet drps off from anout 3.30, and is often unuseable at peak times in the evening.

Unbelievable lows in respect of product and customer service. about 1.9mbps, may as well be dial up. Continually lie about giving you call backs to help sort out a solution. Mention cancel in contract and they immediately trot out that they meet OFCOM standards and as such there is nothing they can do. Clearly all agents are well briefed on this. Annoying thing is only under contract as moved house and remained brand loyal. Offered to put me on a fibre trial at more money to see if that helped. No guarantees offered though. I asked if this would start a new contract length, they said yes it would. So to attempt to get anywhere near a decent speed I have to pay more and gamble that it delivered, otherwise I am locked in longer to a more expensive white elephant.

Switched to Post Office Broadband in 2016, as a response to BT continually upping their prices. I think I've made a mistake. The broadband is about as slow as it can get without actually stopping completely. Customer service is reasonable, once they've answered the phone - which can take some time.

Slow speeds often under 0.90mbps, can't watch any video even tiny ones. Drops out several times a day. raised 5 tickets, each one says its been fixed but it hasn't. Not impressed, I will have to go back to plusnet as soon as i can escape, but took out 18month contract. When on phone to tech they seem very attentive and say they will call back but hey, they don't! poor - such a shame i had hoped they would surpass the giant BT but no, just cheaper..
